  • Set a new servlet to form.action in a Javascript method

    Hi!
    I have a JSP page with a form where I set a servlet to call on submit in the action attribute. This servlet is supposed to be called when pressing the submit button at the end of the page.
    In JSP:
    <form action="<c:url value="/commitment"/>" method="POST" name="CommitmentAdd">
    My problem is that I have a select box inside my form where I use 'onchange' to call a Javascript method, and in that method I want to set another servlet to the forms action (using the servlet-mapping url-pattern name in my web.xml file).
    (I want the JSP page to change due to what you choose in the select box and I'd like to have that code in a separate servlet.)
    In Javascript:
    document.CommitmentAdd.action="/commitmentAddReload";
    document.CommitmentAdd.submit();
    When the Javascript method is called I get the error:
    "The requested resource (/commitmentAddReload) is not available."
    How can I set a new servlet to be found and called on submit?
    Thanks,
    Asa

    Try putting the whole URL in.

  • I have set form fields as User required and yet the form still prints/save when empty.

    I have set form fields as User required and yet the form still prints/save when empty. I also have an email button on the form but that works correctly by not allowing the user to email the form with the required fields empty.
    What script do I need to additionally restrict both printing and saving if the required fields are empty?
     You would think that just setting that option would restrict those functions the same as it does for the email button.
    Please be specific with your response if you are gracious enough to offer one. I have been searching the forum all morning for the answer to this and I really didn't understand any of the solutions offered to others enough to use those in my own form.
    The required fields are:
    Social (social security number)
    Name
    Headquarters
    Residence
    The next question I have is if there is a way to make individual signature fields mandatory if they are digital signatures?
     In other words, I don't want the individual to be able to email the form to the next person if he/she hasn't applied their digital signature.

    Saving can always be done, even when mandatory fields are empty.  This is by design.  And that is correct.  Suppose you have a big form and 2 people need to fill it out.  How can you fill out a first part and then send it to the second person without saving.
    Same for printing.  Same for your signature fields.
    What I would do, is to put a "watermark" on the form that you show on preSave and prePrint if the form is incomplete.  Just a static text on your form.  Then the user will see that they need to do more.  Also, on preSave and prePrint, you can show a warning popup to tell the user about the missing fields.  You can then still cancel their action if the user decides not to save/print anyway.

  • Set Form Value and Submit Via Applet

    Hi Friends,
    suppose you have a form such as:
    <form action="submit.jsp" method="post" name = emailForm>
    <input type="text" name="emailField" size = 43>
    </form>And an applet appears on the same JSP page that the form resides.
    This applet is a simple one that takes email addresses and validates them and on clicking on a button labelled submit, the applet is to set the text field of the form to the email address provided and then submit the form. How can I achieve this?
    Thanks and regards.

    Check out http://www.codeproject.com/jscript/javatojs.asp
    You could use something like MainWin.eval("document.emailForm.submit");

    Hi all,
    In my canvas application,i used images for popupmenu.Now i have to set command action for each item in that popupmenuimage.I dont know whether it is possible in canvas or not.Can anyone tell me the solution for this .
    Thanks,

    Buttons is typical of a c/s application, or, in case of Web Forms, a Java applet. Instead of buttons, you have to use hyperlinks.
    See:
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/faq/faq_migration.htm#346
    The hyperlink wil have to be to a URL that does the insert in the table. This can be a mod_plsql procedure, for instance.

  • Is the form action will be called automatically if there is no SUBMIT

    Hi there,
    i have a JSP with form action set to an Action class. the form dont have any submits.
    when i call the JSP the action class and and ActionForm are fetching the data displaying it on the same JSP(as i required).
    i am new to struts. even after my application working i have doubt, when i call the JSP how the action is getting called and Form populating the data with out any submit on the form
    Thanks
    R

    yes , you are right , my JSP has beans and forms and action class set up in
    strut-config.xml.you say that so the strut-config.xml parsed and on server side and without submit the action class will be called
    right?
    can you point me to any document(particular to this concept)please?

  • How to hide specific form actions

    We have a requirement from our authors to remove unwanted form actions. I assumed that this would be permission specific and went into the content-author group and removed read ability for those actions from under /libs/foundation/form/components/form/actions/
    And yet they still appear.
    Is there another location that I shouldbe setting the permissions or do these just show up regardless?

    Hi,
    It should works like you wrote by set proper permissions for a group of users, but I just chekced in my local repository and it is working like in your case.
    If you want check from where are taken form actions values in the dropdown first of all you need to check configuration for this field which is stored under:
    - /libs/foundation/components/form/start/dialog/items/tabs/items/second/items/actiontype
    As this is a widget with xtype='formactionselection' then please take a look into js file which is implementation for this widget:
    - /libs/cq/ui/widgets/source/widgets/wcm/FormActionSelection.js
    There you find that the values in the dropdown for this filed are populated by calling :
    - /bin/wcm/foundation/forms/actions.json
    and of course setting permissions should solve this problem.
    In my opinion this a bug or I missed something, so only thing which I can suggest at this moment is to customize a little bit this widget.
    For example you can create a sort of actions which are used only by users in the /apps/project_name/form/actions (copy only those which are used from /libs/foundation/form/components/form/actions/) and then customize the widget by changing a path from
    /bin/wcm/foundation/forms/actions.json to /apps/project_name/form/actions.json
    I hope this helps you somehow to understand this issue more deeply.

  • Form Actions

    Hi Everyone,
    Sorry about this post - I am a bit of a novice helping someone out with some problems they are having with a new website.
    I am not very familiar with the use of forms and actions, and I am trying to set up a page with a login section which will not be in use immediately. Therefore, just incase anyone tries to login, I want an error page to appear after they hit the login button.
    Can someone help me with how to do this please?
    Thanks a million for your help (in advance)
    Steph

    Typically, the form action is a url to a page with a server side script that processes the form contents. If you simply want an error page to display for now, just create the error page and use that (including the entire path) in the form action.

  • Can I use php include as form action?

    Hey all
    I have a form with a submit button as usual. What I want to do is, on submitting, include a page that picks up the variable from a list box that will become a session variable. I need it to open on the same page as opposed to a seperate page. Is there any way I can set the form action to include this file within the form? Is there any way I can have control over where the included file displays within the main page?
    Many thanks in advance

    Is the form submitting to itself?  In other words, where is the script that will process the form's data?
    If it's the page itself, then you can certainly have that script set a variable's value, and then in the actual form, test the variable to see if it's set - if it is, then include the desired file.  In other words:
    PAGE
    <Processing script>
    if form is submitted then set SUBMIT=true
    </Processing script>
    <form>
    <scripting>
    if SUBMIT=true then include file
    </scripting>
    </form>

  • How to set fire action event for particular rows in a table

    HI All,
    I have a requirement in which I want to set fire action event for particular rows in a table based on some condition.
    The table has columns like fullname,employee id etc.
    So i want to set fire action event for particulars rows only which will saisfy some condition.

    Atanu,
    Your approach(setting fire action for few rows) seems not possible. Better to go ahead with workaround.
    Do you want this functionality in processRequest(while page loading) or processFromRequest(on some event) method ? Give more explanation regd. your requirement ?
    In either case loop through the rows and when your condition is met write the action to be performed in controller.

  • Unable to get the "Submit a form" action working with Webmail: Gmail

    I am attempting to create interactive PDF forms for the website which the end user will email back once filled out.
    I have added a link to the form that runs the "Submit a form" action, this appears to work if you have a mail client installed, but if you specify Webmail "Gmail", the system appears to start the process with:
    First asking you for the email account details to add
    You are then asked to allow Adobe Acrobat permissions to your access your email account
    It then attempts to create a draft message but fails with:  "Error while creating message ..."
    NB: I have logged into my Gmail account on the client PC and I am able to send emails.
    Any ideas if this has a known problem and if a fix is available, without a fix it makes interactive PDF's a bit pointless?

    Regards,
    Mihir Pandya

    Hi, thank you for your replies, I found out few things about my servlet, and its portability
    and i have few questions, although i marked this topic as answered i guess its ok to post
    I am using javax.servlet.context.tempdir to store my files in that servletcontext temporary directory. But i dont know how to give hyperlink
    of the modified files to the user for them to download the modified files.
    What i am using to get the tempdir i will paste
    File baseurl = (File)this.getServletContext().getAttribute("javax.servlet.context.tempdir");
    System.out.println(baseurl);
    baseurl = new File(baseurl.getAbsolutePath()+File.separator+"temp"+File.separator+"files");
    baseurl.mkdirs();so i am storing my files in that temp/files folder and the servlet processes them and modifies them, then how to present them as
    links to the user for download ?
    and as the servlet is multithreaded by nature, if my servlet gets 2 different requests with same file names, i guess one of them will be overwritten
    And i want to create unique directory for each request made to the servlet , so file names dont clash.
    one another thing is that i want my servlet to be executed by my <form action> only, I dont want the user to simply type url and trigger the servlet
    Reply A.S.A.P. please..
    Thanks and regards,
    Mihir Pandya
