Set keypad as default screen

Does anyone else think it takes too many steps just to dial a phone number?
It would be nice if there was an option to set the phone keypad as the default screen and not Home.
there is an option to set Home, Favorites, and iPod as the default when double-clicking the Home button, so why not just add the Keypad as an option? this would reduce the number of steps to just 2 instead of 3 and sometimes 4 (depending on what you did last)
if you agree, just reply "Yes" and hopefully we can get someone at Apple to notice

I usually call from my Favorites list, so I have double-click the Home button to go to Favorites.
If you primarily call or dial from the keypad, do you usually leave the phone function after ending the call with the keypad selected?

Since requesting a poll here is against the terms of use for these discussions and asking people to reply "Yes" if they agree will likely be considered as a poll of sorts, best to use the iPhone feedback to provide Apple your request which ensures that your request is at least forwarded to and read by the appropriate Apple personnel.

  • Can you make the Keypad the default during phone calls?...

    Hi,
I'm finding it irritating when I make a call and the recording says "Press 1 for English" and unlike regular phones, I have to hit the keypad icon first just to get my numbers back so I can press '1'.
All the options are nice, but is there any way to make the Keypad the Default screen to appear while I'm making a phone call?
Also, I need to comment that I wish the speaker phone were much louder; it's almost useless the way it is. Is there any trick to getting that louder besides the volume control on the outside of the iPhone?
    Many Thanks, Frank B.

    In a word, no.

  • What is the default screen brightness setting?

Could someone please tell me what the default screen brightness setting on a Retina Macbook Pro 15" is? Is it 50% when charging and one point less when on battery?
    Thanks in advance!

That isn't really a default setting. It is arbitrary, one system might be different than another at first turn on.
Simple way to tell is wipe your hard drive and reinstall OS X. Whatever the screen brightness is at the completion of the OS X install is the default. Make a record of it.

  • What is the default screen brightness setting and keyboard backlight brightness default setting, and how to you go back to default?

What is the default screen brightness setting and keyboard backlight default setting? I just got a new Macbook Air and fiddled a lot with it, and now just want to know how to set the brightness levels back to default. Thanks everyone!

    Hey sberman,
I maxed out the screen brightness before I clicked on "restore defaults" in system preferences> energy saver (which has to do with battery, not exactly screen brightness) to see if the screen went back to a "normal" brightness level, but it didn't. I don't think it restored the brightness to default..

Currently there does not seem to be a way to set any other defaults than the ones you already get. I have submitted that in a feedback item for Apple and I'd suggest you do the same, I would also like a few different tools to show up by default.

  • What options do I have if I want to set up a dual screen?

I have a Thinkpad T400 with a ATI Radeon HD3470 card. I am running the latest Arch x86_64 with Fluxbox and the 9.4 Catalyst drivers.
What is the easiest solution to set up a dual screen? Is there a way to do this without editing xorg.conf? Not that editing xorg.conf really is a big problem, but I will be moving around a bit and finding the correct settings for each screen would take some work. And I would like to see how far the dual screen development has come on GNU/Linux.
The way I see it the best way would be to have two screens with separate resolutions. Since LCD screens do not handle resolutions other then the native very well. So just stretching the screen makes the slave screen run the same height as the parent screen. Or am I wrong? It is not a problem running stretched if the screens run at the native resolution.
So, xrandr just gives me stretching. And the need of editing xorg.conf.
What about Twinview(just for nVidia) and Xinerama?
    Is there other solutions?
    SOLUTIONS:
There is arandr and lxrandr, both frontends to xrandr. Requires minimal xorg.conf editing. Only add a virtual line in the screen section. The virtual size does not have to be accurate, it only have to be bigger then the screens together. In my case, I have a 1440x900 primary screen and at most a 1280x1024 secondary screen. So my virtual size would be minimum 2720x1024. This is with the screens side by side. If the screens is one above the other it would be 1440x1924.
The exact size of the monitor is handled by xrandr(arandr or lxrandr). So, there will be no dead zone in the width(side by side solution), if the real height is different on the screen there will be a dead zone in height.
Using arandr or lxrandr means that you manually have to set this up each time the computer is restarted. To automate this, you can use xrandr. First do a
    # xrandr
    Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 2464 x 900, maximum 2720 x 1024
    LCD connected 1440x900+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 304mm x 190mm

to find out where the screens are connected. Mine are LCD and CRT1. Then test with
    # xrandr --output CRT1 --right-of LCD

    This solution gives you stretching.

This works, and I get separate resolutions on the monitors. I tried using radeonhd but then the resolution on teh second monitor goes to some crappy values(which I figure are calculated proportionally to the 1280x800 one).

  • Default Screen Resolution 15"

What is the default screen resolution for a macbook 15"? I have found that people say 1440x900 but that is not even an option on my computer. Also, my icons on my desktop are miniature. How do I fix that? My screen resolution was fine until I plugged in a doppler, then my screen zoomed in and when I tried to fix it and then unplugged it, it's all messed up.
    Thanks in advance

It might help in Display preferences if you click on Detect Displays first.
To change the size of desktop icons:
Ctrl-click on a clear part of the desktop background.
    Select Show View Options.
Set the icon size, etc to your personal taste.

  • Can PID (Parameter ID) be set as a default by TCODE or Role Level

Thanks for the reply, you have mentioned try creating a Transaction variant or a Transaction parameter.
    Here is my question?
    1. Can we set a default Parameter ID at TCODE level so, if any user execute a transaction who has access to execute it, he will have Parameter id and its value as a default?
    2. Can PID be set as a default for SAP TCODE or Custom TCODE, or can be done for both, if it can be done then, How?
    3. Can PID be set as a default for a particular Role or profile?

    Hi JC,
    Yes, I agree.
A small disclaimer however is that we dont know which transaction is being refered to.
Creating a transaction variant with the parameter set for it could enable the use to navigate further and back again and in doing so "shed" the screen which the transaction (initially with variant parameter and skip screen) originally gave them.
Using a user-exit to set the parameter can in some cases be closer to the functionality (irrespective of how the user gets there) and be more reliable. But in this case an adventurous user will be likely to trick it anyway if they want to.
If the decision is made to use PIDs in the coding, then it is a decision that the user can influence the value (in my view). If coding makes insecure use of PIDs, then it is a design error in the coding.
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • O/S Default Screen Size

    I have a Mac G4 1.25Ghz MDD tower with a Samsung 2232BW monitor running 1680x1050.
I also use a KVM switch to switch between the MAC and the PC.
If I turn on the MAC but don't have the monitor switched over to the MAC, when I do switch it the screen is set to 800x600 and I have to detect monitors for it to reset to 1680x1050.
The PC, I can unplug the monitor totall, when I plug it back it will always load at 1680x1050 because it's set as the default.
How can I tell the OS to always load at 1680x1050 regardless is the monitor is switched to the MAC or not?
    Thanks

That certainly sounds inconvenient, to say the least,
when your display settings go away when the monitor
is no longer available to the Power Mac.
I'm wondering if setting a profile for that display could
help the computer remember it when it becomes avail-
able again; or if the profile (color, etc) has no relation.
In earlier experiences with tower Macs, the display's
own settings held the basics; but I did not share the
monitor with a different computer, so they stuck.
You may have to see if a utility such as SwitchResX
may help change the default setting to that of this
display so it will be the one the OS sees each time.
    About SwitchResX:
    http://www.madrau.com/html/SRX/About.html
The options this allows may be worth investigation:
    http://www.madrau.com/html/SRX/whysr.html
Another possibility, outside of my experience,
would be to find a way to script the settings
so the one you want would be the default.
    In any event...
    Good luck & happy computing!

Clicking on an e-mail address will NOT open Windows Live Mail. Windows Live mail is already set as my default e-mail program.

Sorry you're having this problem. I think it was previously reported only by Windows XP users.
When you reinstall, were you making Firefox your default browser? Some users have reported that ''not'' making Firefox the default browser was an effective workaround.
However, you may have success with this approach, suggested by a user in another thread, which appears to more thoroughly update the Windows registry:
    # Open Adobe Reader / Acrobat
    # Edit->Preferences
    # In the Categories column click 'General'
    # Near the bottom of the page click the button marked 'Select Default PDF Handler'
    # In the dialog, select 'Adobe Reader XI' (or Adobe Acrobat, as the case may be) and click 'Apply'
    # A Windows Configuration screen will appear. Allow it to do its stuff (takes a few minutes), then restart your computer when prompted.
Does that resolve the issue for you?

Is there a way to change the default screen resolution for the Home Media DVR?  I have to change it from 720p to 1080i every time I turn on the set.  I tried getting help on the phone, but Verizon has the most annoying phone tree of all time.

It's based on the HDMI settings from your TV and resets every time you turn off the STB. I personally haven't found a way to override it.

Try setting the Energy Saver to "never" and uncheck "put hard disks to sleep when possible". You can allow the screen to sleep after any suitable time.
    Hope that helps. Regards.

Voicemail is a cell phone carrier function.  Contact your carrier to see if they have this option.  If not, i'm sure you can download a sound file from the internet with a greeting and add your name.  Then play it back on you PC while holding your iPhone near the speaker when recording the greeting to voicemail.
