Set NAT's Default Host based on client ID, not IP
Hello,
Is there a way to set the NAT's default host to a "Client ID" instead of an internal IP address? I need this because often my PC's IP change and I need to update it manually in the Airport, causing it to restart and breaking all internet in my house.
What happened to "it just works" ?
Hi!
In Airport Utility you have to go to Network tab. There you can add a DHCP reserve for your computer based on it's MAC adress. This way your computer will be always in the same IP.

Set Radio Group Default Value Based on a Select List Change Event
Apex 4.2
I have a radio group that is source is below. It returns 3 radio group item All,Miv,Courier
SELECT type d, code r FROM vw_lov_depot
WHERE svc_name = :P320_DEPOT
ORDER BY 1
The radio group is only populated when :P320_DEPOT gets a value, this is a select list.
I am trying to set the radio group to default to this value Miv it would use the statement
SELECT type d, code r FROM vw_lov_depot
WHERE svc_name = :P320_DEPOT
and type ='Miv'
ORDER BY 1
I have tried creating a dynamic action on Select list change to populate the default value of the radio group...no joy I also tried a computation. how can I set this default value on when list changed.
Thanks
I have got the default Radio Group Selection working by doing a computation before region on the radio group and calling its select statement and setting the value. But the problem is now I cannot change the radtio group as I do it fire the before region trigger and sets it back to the default value....any help?Hi,
Could you please create example to apex.oracle.com?

Setting up "in-document" hyperlinks based on database fields, not URLs
Hi there,
Does anyone know whether or not it is possible to set up a Crystal report so that certain fields are presented as hyperlinks to nominated fields?
This is what I want to do:
In an index-style document, I have a top level value that is accompanied by several related values. For the related values, I want hyperlinks to be displayed so that the person browsing the report can jump to the top level value entry for the related value.... like this...
Top level value: DOGS
Related values...
Broader Value: Mammals (hyperlinked to jump to entry for "MAMMALS")
Narrower value: Poodles (hyperlinked to jump to entry for "POODLES")
So, where the above entry for "DOGS" appears, I want Crystal to put in a hyperlink on Mammals and Poodles so that the reader can go straight to the entries for these related terms, for example, if someone clicks on the hyperlink for Poodles.... they will be taken to the top level entry for Poodles... etc. etc.
Top level value: POODLES
Related values...
Broader value: Dogs (hyperlinked to jump to entry for "DOGS")
Narrower value: Miniature Poodles (hyperlinked to jump to entry for "MINIATURE POODLES")
etc. etc. and so on...
Basically I am hoping and imagining there is a way to do this without sitting down and manually bookmarking these entries. This is something that I could do reasonably easily in Word using Styles, however that would require first exporting the data... and I really want to be able to do it straight out of the database, in Crystal.
Anyone know the answer to this?
cheers
-karenbI think you can try two ways
1) create a group on the field DOGS and place the related values in the details section.
Now right click on the detail section and go to section expert and write the suppress condition like this
DrillDownGroupLevel=0
Now when you refresh the report it will show the data like this
DOGS
MAMMALS
POODLES
When you double click on Dogs it shows the related details of DOGS in a seperate tab.
2) Try to create a subreport that shows the related details and insert this subreport as an on-demand subreport in the main report. This subreport should be placed in the group headers of DOGS field and change the caption of the subreport by right clicking the subreport and go to format subreport and in subreport tab add the field (DOGS) corresponds to caption by clicking X+2. Now link the subreport and main report with the grouped field in the main report using chnage subreport links option
Hope this helps!

Enable Default Host not forwarding to host
Hello all,
Thank you in advance for any insight you can provide to this frustrating problem!
Here's the set-up:
ISP Modem with Static IP on Internet - no ports blocked - confirmed with ISP
BaseStation connected to the above modem with external IP configured to the static IP of the ISP
BaseStation internally giving out private IPs in the 192.168.x.x range via wireless and wired connections (section of range 50-100 only within range)
BaseStation internally providing a guest network in the 172.16 rage (limted to 50 max)
Targeted client set to static IP in the 192.168 range (not over-lapping with the range being handed out dynamically)
BaseStation set to use Default Host at the above IP (the one statically assigned to my "target" system that I want to reach from the internet)
Traffic to and from the internet for browsing and remote Server access works fine. Including Servers that are using the same ports that I wish this one to answer on.
Traffic INBOUND destined for the static host at the 192.168.x.x is NOT reaching the host on the ports I need it to. Even though that host is set as the Default Host. It is using two specific ports, but there is no port blocking on the ISP and the default host should be..... well.. the default. This is where traffic should go shouldnt' it?
The host can browse the internet, so it is a source and destination for that traffic, it just won't "answer the phone" when external traffic comes calling on the ports I want to direct to it.1) If it's going to forward all internet traffic to this one specific machine, why bother configuring Port Mappings?
You wouldn't. If you want only select ports opened, use Port Mapping; for all ports to be open, use Default Host, which is just another name for a DMZ.
2) If I would like my server (10.5.7 Leopard Server) to handle internet requests and then send the traffic to the appropriate internal computer based on the port request, what service on the Server do I use to do this?
Sorry, I'm not familiar with Leopard Server features, but I would think this would be something similar to the Proxy Server service provided by Windows Servers. -
Old host-based printer can be networked using Airport Express
Was thrilled to find out that my old HP printer works (uh, at least it DID work) as a wireless network printer because of Airport Express! (THAT's why I paid more for a router with a printer port.)
According to HP, my old HP LaserJet 1020 printer is host-based and therefore supposedly NOT network-compatible. (True, a host-based printer CAN be shared among computers on a network as long as the printer is connected to the powered-on main computer, but I wanted more than that.) BTW, the HP 1020 shares drivers with the network-compatible 1022.
But AX doesn't care whether a printer is host-based. Took several steps (including Bonjour) to get it to work, and I've printed wirelessly from both my PCs with the HP LaserJet 1020 plugged into the AX USB port.
First I installed the HP drivers (1020/1022 plug and play, from the HP website) and set up and printed from computer 1. Late at night, maybe I did this through Bonjour, but I think instead I was able to just find it through Windows > Add a printer). It defaulted to an HP 1020.
Next I installed the HP drivers and set up and printed from computer 2. Bonjour didn't find the printer, so I did a manual setup through Airport Utility, choosing TCP/IP and entering the IP address of the AX (10.0.1.1). I chose to set it up as an HP 1022, based on my limited understanding that some folks report better results that way.
When I went back to print from computer 1, I printed a file successfully. However, even later that night (yawn), when I tried to print a second file from computer 1, the print job would show up in the queue as "printing" but would then revert to error.
Any settings advice out there? I've read that the 1020 has been known to crash the print spooler, so I may re-install on computer 1 as if it's a 1022. Should I change the spooler settings? Shouldn't need to "share" the printer through Windows, right? Do I need to add _1 to the printer's IP address on the second computer? At least it worked ONCE, so I'm confident this can be set up to work reliably.Just wanted to provide my happy update. For whatever reason, all I had to do was redo the printer setup on computer 1, and all I needed was Windows Add a Printer, now tha I know what steps to take. I'm printing wirelessly to it through my network, yay!
So if you have a host-based printer (which HP support website says is not network compatible), you can still use it as a network printer, thanks to Airport Express! No need to plug the printer into a computer and use Windows Printer Share. -
Wrt54gl vs host-based firewall
I have here a wrt54gl I am setting up the wireless side. For some reason, when I set it up to do wireless (WPA, TKIP). I then try to connect to it using a XP laptop (wireless, the microsoft default host-based firewall). It tries to connect and then gives up. I try doing this for 2hours with the same results. When I disabled the firewall in the laptop, I was able to connect. So, I disconnect and then enable firewall and try to connect again. This time it also connects and picks up the dhcp info. Weird...
Hi Dave,
What happens if Sunscreen is not in the picture? I don't think are are any known
issues with this part of the console. If you haven't already please download
WLS6.1SP2 and try with that. If you still see this behaviour I suggest logging
a support case.

Hi
I wondered if anyone had any experience using host based firewalls and

I am running 3 physical servers with 2 managed servers on each i.e. 6

server. On each server is SunScreen Lite allowing 2 way connectivity
on TCP
ports 7001, 7002 and multicast on 237.0.0.1. Connections between the
Admin
server and each physical server is also allowed on port 5555 for NodeManager
to stop and start managed servers.
My problem is that when looking at the console on the admin server via
a
browser, odd servers are listed as not running when in actual fact their
process is still running when doing a ps -ef and are still servicing
requests. Under the clustering tab, a server which is listed as not running
under the servers tab, is listed as not in the cluster, although the
field -
Known Servers - lists all 6 managed servers.
The only way to be able to control the server again is to kill the process
on the box itself, and go back to the console and use NodeManager to
start
it up again. I am wondering what would make WebLogic remove the server
from
the list of running servers?
Any comments appreciated.

Default Host (DMZ) and Port Mapping together
Hi all,
I have the G5 set as a default host for all my web services through the Airport Extreme.
In the Airport Extreme's Port Mapping tab, a user is not prevented from using the port mapping tab even when the Default host is set. I want to serve video through another port not on the G5.
Does this mean I can set up port mapping for ports I do not want to go to the default host? (my G5 in this case)
I asked this on the airport forum and never got an answer, maybe you G5 folks might know. (Or maybe there is a setting that will redirect from the G5.)
Thanks in advance,
JamyI figured it out. I can't have a DMZ and separately port mapping on the Airport.

As you see above, config has ACL that allows traffic from Internet to DMZ and has static NAT. The hosts in DMZ are still not accessible.
Please help.

For Inside to internet:
you have no global( outside) as well as nat(inside) configured.
nat(inside) 1 0 0

For second part, I see no problem in the config, is it not working?

Cannot set IP address for "enable default host", setting won't stick
Hi,
My office is using a 3rd party application called Rumpus to give clients FTP access to files that we post on our Mac Mini. I installed Rumpus a few months ago, and it's been working well, until last week when suddenly there's no external web access at all.
FYI we have a static IP from TWC.
In my Airport Utility config, I'm using the Network Option "Enable Default Host" and I'm setting this to the IP address that I've assigned to our Mac Mini which is 10.0.1.110. This way all incoming traffic is automatically getting to the Mac Mini. But since this problem started happening, this setting is now set to an IP address of 10.0.1.253. I don't know how this setting changed. And no matter what I do I cannot get it to save to 10.0.1.110. When I attempt to change it, it looks like it's saving but the setting doesn't change. Additionally, I've discovered I CAN set this to any IP address of 10.0.1.200, or higher, but not below 200. (The Utility's default IP range is from .2 to .200 so I guess this must be preventing the setting from sticking but I don't see why.)
Can anyone help me with this??
Regards,
BobHow do you assign the address to the mini? In the mini itself or via dhcp reservations?
What model airport are you using? What firmware?
Can you remember some firmware update or something that altered the settings??
Reset to factory and try again.. but on 7.6.4 and 7.7.x there are definitely FTP issues.
See posts here. I have been tracking FTP problems for a while.
There are severe FTP issues with the AE.. the last couple of versions of the Gen1-5 firmware as well as the Gen 6.. See this thread.

Any idea how I can do this with Firefox?
You can set or lock default prefs via a mozilla.cfg file.
Pref: browser.startup.homepage , see http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.startup.homepage
defaultPref(); // set new default value
pref(); // set pref, but allow changes
lockPref(); // lock pref, disallow changes

Set default value based on current day value and setItems in Design studio
Hello
I have 2 filters on my dashboard - year and month. The default display of the dashboard should populate current year data. Is it possible to create formula to populate dynamic default value based on the current date using setSelectedValue() ?
Also, for the calendar month, the items are set as below
DD_MONTH.setItems(DS_1.getMemberList("0CALMONTH",
MemberPresentation.INTERNAL_KEY, MemberDisplay.TEXT, 12, "ALL");
This displays month values as 01/2014, 02/2014 ... How can I change these value to display as January if mm = 01 and February if mm = 02 etc..
Thanks
SirishaHi Victor,
I have tried using below statment to populate current year as the default selection value for the dropdown. Used it on Startup, but for some reason it loads all the data when the dashboard is opened the first time. Any ideas?
DS_1.setFilter("0CALYEAR",[Convert.subString(APPLICATION.getInfo().dateNowInternalFormat, 4,6)]);
Thanks

Setting default user options in client-install
Hi,
In BPC10 MS, is there a way so set user options to a default value in the client that is installed from the Download Center, so that all new users have the same default settings. The ones I'm interested in are the ones below.
Thanks for your input!
/CeciliaHi Cecilia,
Modify all settings as you want them in your client.
\%userprofile%\AppData\Local\EPMOfficeClient\EPMClientPreference.xml
(path might be different depending on installation)
The specific settings you are after is:
<AutomaticRefresh>true</AutomaticRefresh>
<AlwaysAutoUpdateCharts>true</AlwaysAutoUpdateCharts>
<OfflineOnlyEPMReportsProtected>true</OfflineOnlyEPMReportsProtected>
Once you have set your EPMXLClientPreference.XML as you want to have it you need to distribute it to the clients (I do not think you can do that via the download center)

How do you set up a default Date To based on Date From for report parameter
I'm working on a report. I have been asked to set up a default Date To based on Date From for the report parameters. I mean when running a report, if an end user selects a value for parameter Date From, system will automatically populate the Date To parameter based on the Date From + 6 days.
I guess there's gotta be something to do with Value Set. Do any of you guys know how to go about this?
Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.
DennisYou should be able to retrieve the value of other valueset using :$FLEX$.<valuesetname> I'm not sure about the exact syntax, it's been a while since i worked with applications.

Dangers of setting a default host? (or help getting on to a remote VPN)
Here is my situation. I have a laptop from work that I need to be able to connect to my company's VPN in order to work. I am not supposed to change the laptop from DHCP so it just gets an IP when I logon to my home network. It appears that I can't connect to my VPN with all the default settings of my AEBS. If I add the IP my laptop gets from my router I can connect. But this requires me to leave a DHCP IP address in this field all the time or constantly having to toggle this feature (which seems to require a router restart to take effect). Is this a major security hole? Also, when it says all internet traffic goes through the default host, does that mean if someone else is surfing the web in my house all the packets go through my laptop first?
Is there a better way to connect to the VPN? Is there someway I can open up the ports easier? Any suggestions? If I add the IP my laptop gets from my router I can connect.
Add it to what?
Is this a major security hole?
It is hard to know since it isn't clear what you are doing.
Also, when it says all internet traffic goes through the default host, does that mean if someone else is surfing the web in my house all the packets go through my laptop first?
When you are using default host, any requests from the internet are directed to the machine defined as the default host.
If someone on your network is accessing the internet, packets for that machine do not go through the default host. -
No VPN even with a Default Host?
I've tried this with 7.2, 7.2.1 and 7.3.1 all with no luck.
So the only way too get my VPN working is with default hosts, so I enable default hosts. I assign my MAC that IP address and STILL can't connect. My understanding was once I used the default host, everything should be allowed through to that address.
What am I doing wrong? What relevant info am I not considering?
The strangest thing is that the VPN using the Default Host works fine with my older Airport Express.Hi,
I'll second the opinion above. I'm sure the AEBS is great for something -- remote playback of iTunes and the Draft-N for playing videos? For me it is a nice paperweight. I've never been able to get the network USB port or VPN pass-through on the AEBS to work reliably, if at all.
I've worked with D-Link, Linksys, Netgear, Lucent, SMC, and Cisco wireless routers and had many fewer headaches than the AEBS hassles. Having to use the configuration utility on the AEBS really gets my goat. The SNMP-only management is OK if you're a Fortune 100 company with 1000 routers that have to be identical, but an annoyance for small office and home users. If the AEBS were targeting the Fortune 100, then power-over-ethernet wouldn't be an almost secret special order option.
I'd be willing to cut some slack, but the AEBS is expensive, it isn't Apple's first router product, and there's been over a year that basic serious bugs have persisted.
The best bet if you want to use GRE or PPTP passing through the AEBS is to assign static Internet-routable addresses or have a DHCP server on the LAN side of the AEBS. Set the AEBS to bridge mode to allow the block of addresses your LAN client machines will be using. If you enable NAT/PAT on the AEBS, it won't work. I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds like VPN won't pass through even in bridge mode in 7.3.1
