hi
i want to set my os x lion partition to factory settings without re-installing the OS.
can i do that ?

Doing that requires reinstalling the OS. If desired, you can use the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences to create a new administrator account.

Oh goodness,SLEEPER888. We wish you didn't have this problem while trying to complete this update. You have done quite a bit of troubleshooting on your own. If the phone update does not take, we would need to replace it with the warranty. Is it still locked up?

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    iCloud: Find My iPhone
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

  • If I update to ios 7 then will it set my phone to factory settings?

If I update to ios 7 then will it set my phone to factory settings?

No. It either updates in place or backs up then restores all your content.
Make sure you back up the phone first though.

How do i restore my wifi setting back to the factory settings? I have changed it somehow :/ and now my wifi will not connect. My Airport is on and showing full strength but will not connect.

Ok, if other devices are connecting but just not your MacBook then let's start troubleshooting the MacBook to possibly find out why.
Please try each of the following, in order, until hopefully resolved:
Note the following are excerpts from an OS X Daily article.
    * Turn Airport on & off – You can do this via the Airport menu bar or from the Network Preferences. This is the first thing you should try when troubleshooting Mac wireless problems.
    * Make sure Wireless/Airport card software & firmware is up to date – This is usually done just by going to the Software Update menu, if there are any updates available for your Mac or Airport, install them.
    * Delete and recreate connection – Try deleting and recreating/reestablishing the wireless connection, sometimes a setting can be corrupted and this may fix it.
    * Create a new Network Location – Similar to the above suggestion, try creating a new and different wireless network location to see if it resolves the connection problems.
    * Change DHCP auto settings to manual – sometimes there is a problem with the DHCP server, and if you manually set an IP address on the network you can be fine. Remember to set the IP to a high number so it wouldn’t interfere with other DHCP machines. As long as you have the subnet mask, router, and DNS settings configured manually as well, this shouldn’t be a problem.
    * Flush the DNS cache – Launch the Terminal and enter the following command onto one full line within the Terminal: dscacheutil -flushcache
    * Zap the PRAM – Reboot your Mac and hold Command+Option+P+R during restart until you hear another chime, let the Mac boot as usual.
    * Delete Wireless Config files – Delete com.apple.internetconfigpriv.plist and com.apple.internetconfig.plist files from ~/Library/Preferences and reboot
    * Trash your home directories SystemConfiguration – Remove all files within ~/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ and then reboot your Mac.
    * Reset your Mac’s System Management Controller (SMC) – For MacBook and MacBook Pro’s: Shutdown the MacBook/Pro, remove the battery, disconnect the power, hold the Power Key for 15 seconds. Replace the battery, reconnect power, and zap the PRAM and wait for 2 chimes before letting the keys go. Let boot as usual.

Once you get it going you need to make sure you do the following so that you can sell the phone.
    Turn off imessage in settings/messages
    Turn off Facetime in settings/Facetime
    Delete icloud account in settings/ilcoud
Erase all data and settings in settings/general/reset

  • Setting ipad 2 to factory settings

Can someone please give me an assist?
I sold my iPad 2 to someone and I thought I put it back to factory settings, but I got this email from the buyer:
"I need help with this issue bc when I go to activate the iPad I bought from you it says it connected to your Apple ID still."
Can someone provide me with a foolproof way to get this iPad 2 in a condition where the new buyer can begin it as if it was NEW?
    ---Dale

I just now went online and removed my iPad from my iCloud account. Maybe that was the issue. I hope.

  • I had my IPod rebooted at a store.  My 9yr old put a password on it and had to set it back to factory settings.  Now can't get it to open beyond the screen with the white apple.  I've tried to sync with Itunes, the it won't recognize the device.  HELP!

Apple store reset my Ipod to factory setting, now can get Itunes to recognize the device.  The I Pod won't turn on past the first screen with the pic of the apple on it.

    Try the following:
    - A reset and then connect to your computer and try to restore.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - See if placing the iPod in Recovery Mode will allow a restore.
    - The see if DFU mode will allow a restore.

    - If you can't turn the iPod full off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least a hour try the above again
    - If still not successful time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • How do I re-set Font Book to factory settings?

Hi everybody, hopefully you can help me...
Just received my Refurbished iMac 21.5-Inch 2,7GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5. Have loaded all my software, no problem. However, I stupidly and what on earth possessed me to do it I'll never know...dragged 11,000 fonts from an external back-up disk directly into font book late last night. It was verifying all the fonts and flagged up any potential corrupt fonts, I now don't seem to be able to even open Font book without it trying to locate all 11,000 fonts. Is there a way of deleting all of these fonts and doing it properly or re-setting Font book to it's original state. I can't access the preferences on startup as Font Book seems to want to find all the fonts first and i just get a whirly wheel in the bottom right hand corner...I've also tried to locate the fonts in 'library' etc but  they don't seem to be there which makes me wonder of Font Book is stuck in some kind of limbo...this is a monumental FAIL on my part I have to say.
    Any Ideas???
    Many Thanks
    Dave

    User fonts, those not require by the OS, are in two locations;
    Mac HD/Library/Fonts
    ~/Library/Fonts
I would see if the 11M+ fonts are in ~/Library/Fonts first. If so drag them to the Trash and restart.

  • HT201441 How do I reset back to factory settings a phone issued by Samson Investment to an employee upon termination?

I have a iPhone 5c returned by an employee after he terminated his employeement with Samson.  Now I need to set it back to factory settings to reassign.  How do I do this after he set it up on his iTunes account?
    Thanks

Welcome to the Apple community skchilton.
Unfortunately, you cannot do very much with your phone unless you get assistance from the previous owner, they should either provide you with the password to unlock it or remove their account from the phone entirely remotely through iCloud.com > Find My Phone.

  • Restoring to Factory Settings on Equium A100-027

    Hi
My laptop could really do with a reformat, but after trying several methods to restore it to the original factory settings, I'm having no luck.
I've tried Windows System Restore, pressing alt+F10 on startup, holding the 0 key when starting up...nothing seems to be working.
Also, I don't have the recovery disc that came with it.
I basically just want to wipe the laptop clean but be safe in the knowledge that Vista will re-install itself after the format.
I'd GREATLY appreciate it if anyone had any suggestions to this problem...it's getting in the way of my college work and I'm really in the dark at the minute :(
    Many thanks

    Hi
If you want to restore the notebook back to the factory settings you will need to use the Toshiba recovery DVD.
The notebook was not equipped with the HDD Recovery option and therefore only the booting from the Toshiba recovery DVD would set it to the factory settings and would reinstall the Vista OS.
If you dont have the Recovery DVD then you could order it from there:
