Set Pixel depth / density?

Is there a way to set the pixel depth/density in Illustrator to match the actual depth of my monitor?  I'd really like the "actual size" view to be actual size, but I understand that AI makes an assumption that my monitor is 71 (ish) dpi when in fact I'm at 90 (or so).  If this can't be done in an in-program setting (I've looked and can't seem to find one), is there a plugin or script available?  A registry hack?

Check out Jongware's script here. I don't know if it will work in your version of AI, but worth a try. Hold a ruler up to your screen to get a real-world measure; Illustrator assumes 72 ppi. As Mike says, no way to be exact.

  • Change pixel depth

I have an HD MOV loaded into FCP and am using Compressor to render it out as sequence of single TARGA files. I see that the pixel depth of the output shows at 32 bit, but I do not want an alpha channel in the TGA files and need to change the pixel depth to 24. Can't figure out where to change that setting. Can someone point me in the right direction?
    thanks much.

    Hi,
RDP 8.0/8.1 connections are always 32 bit color depth.  For old RDP client versions you may connect as low as 16 bit.
For Server 2012 R2 it is preferred that you connect using a RDP 8.1 client.

  • High image pixel depth

I would like to acquire and save a colour image with the highest pixel depth possible using IMAQ for IEEE 1394. The resolution does not need to be high (640x480 at most) and the frame rate can be very low (1-3 Hz). Is it possible to get very high depth in an image when the majority of LabVIEW functions (i.e. write images, avi) use 8-bits/colour? I know that in the IMAQ array to colour image function there is a U64 output that is used if supported. Does this mean that I can get 16-bit depth per colour and if so does anyone know a camera that would support this?

    Hi Ghost,
Like you said at the end of your post, the ability to record an image with such pixel depth will depend entirely upon the camera being used. Assuming you have a camera of this bit depth, it is certainly possible to use LabVIEW and IMAQ 1394 to interact with that image. The write file functions you mentioned are bound by the format of the file type you are trying to save. For example, an avi file supports only 8 bit images. If you wanted to save an image to file with greater bit depth, you can use IMAQ Vision to save one of these images as a .png or .tif file.
Let me know if you have any more questions!

  • How to Set Pixel Format for AEGP Plugin???

    Hi,
Does Anyone know how to set pixel format (ARGB or BGRA etc) for After Effect (AEGP) Plugin (Source Generator).

It requires the Canon Hacker's Developement Kit (CHDK). It runs off of your SD card and does not harm your camera. Download a program called Stick-

Follow the directions and you will be able to shoot in RAW along with some other deatures not available on your camera previously.

  • VNC issues: secondary mouse button and pixel depth.

    Hi,
Recently I've started to manage a Windows PC running an UltraVNC server 1.0.2 with ARD 3.1. The VNC viewer in ARD 3.1 is very good and stable ( thanks for the reconnection mechanism wich is not present in other viewers ).
But I don't know how to adjust pixel depth for slow connections ( image quality control doesn't work ) and also I don't know how to send a right mouse button click to the remote PC.
Any idea ? Is it possible at all ?
    Regards,

Gee, thanks for the helpful answer, sig.
I eventually found an uninstaller app in the Utilities folder that I was able to get to via the keyboard.  Turns out it's the Apple preference pane that isn't taking into account the Microsoft Mouse one.  I don't know if that's because MS didn't hook it properly or what, but just in case anyone else runs into the same problem.

  • How to set color depth to Bitmap image with Java advance Imaging

i have to convert image one format ot bmp format and also set the color depth as 1 bit , 4 bit , 8 bit, 16 bit, 32 bit of image.
has any one done this before. please help me out .

Take a look at the example code here: http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=20&thread=560573&tstart=0&trange=15
I took an image that was 24 bits/pixel (I guess) and converted it to an indexed color model (8 bits/pixel).
Is that what you mean? (It's also easy to convert to 16 or 15 bits/pixel: use TYPE_USHORT_565_RGB or
    TYPE_USHORT_555_RGB.)

  • How to set pixels for smoothest -outline, in a design? I am using PhspCS5 TRIAL Grateful for help!

First, I am not an advanced digital artist rather know (just)basic tools and am quite good with those over the years however, have a new Mac and better
visibility for sure and have a TRIAL version of PSHP CS5 Extended; what I am asking is: how to set the pixels...to acheive the smoothest outline eg. I
designs for greeting cards and now working on a Xmas tree, with gold stars, they look best outlined (vy-light=blk) but when I ZOOM IN I see the 'wavy lines
of the pixels, that are set on 'square'.  I wish to know how to set the pixels* #1 and then as far as colours, when I pick a yellow (there are many!yellows !!)
and use my Intuos pen, 'tap tap tap' on the designs (yellow of the star) it does NOT register ....(it did on my other computer and older CS4).  So going
back, to my colour swatches, to ...remember just which yellow I picked...ha ha....can be: "not so fast!"
I will be buying this on Subscription at the end of the trial and my bet is that the colour picker/will work on the purchased version when I 'tap tap' to pick up the
same colour II had chosen.  Wouldn't it be good to have a monitor of sorts that tells you, what colour(s)one has been using, when you NEED to know, to go
on with the 'design' say after a break for tea etc.  ?????  (    :
I save my designs when done JPEGs, and see now there is a JPEG 2000...I have no idea what that is all about.  I save (1)pdf and one jpeg.  Hope this sounds
like what  one 'does' ...when one knows far more than I do.
And lastly,  what program or tool, can one use to put a 'frame' (border) around a eg: 5 x 7 design (again, my goal is for my designs for Greeting Cards.  Is there
another Adobe products I should have for that.  Free hand hasn't worked out so well, so far.
I am in advance, so grateful to you - whomever you may be, for your help.  I am on my last 'hoorah' path now hoping for success soon....I am a senior of 71 yrs
and so feel I need to really 'get going' and learn these basics to assure my chances of success, at least. Merci, Danke & Thank You ! CDW

  • Is there a way to set pixels at 20ppi?

I'm using AI to produce tactile graphics [for the blind] on a 20dpi dot-matrix embosser. With so few available dots, aligning elements with the pixels is essential for consistent lines. I know how to set up a new doc for pixels, align with pixels, preview pixels etc,, but the largest option seems to be 72ppi. Is it possible to adjust this somehow? Or maybe someone has another way to deal with this problem?
    Thanks!

Don't think you can go any lower than that in any normal design program as there always needs to be a common base reference for all internal calculations like image resizing, font rasterization etc. and traditioanlly it has always been assumed to be 72 DPI. Still, I don't think that it is a problem. Any such stuff no doubt would be handled by the printer driver of the device, meaning it would reinterpret your 72 DPI graphic as 20 DPI and map each "pixel" 1:1. You may just need to design at smaller absolute dimensions...

  • Set Bit Depth to 1 bit in PS CS2 V9

I need to create documents for a scanning system. The recognition software requires the templates be Black & White, 150 dpi, at 1 bit depth. Can one set the bit depth to 1 bit in PS CS2 v9? The original document was created in MS Word, printed to Acrobat Professional 9 and converted to a TIF by AcroPro as well as acquired directly from the flat bed scanner at 150dpi in black & white mode.

Implicit in Mr. Barnett's post is that "bitmap" in Photoshop means 1 bit per channel, with only one channel. That's what you are looking for.

Hi Tom - sorry it has taken me some time to respond:
This is the thread I mentioned previously:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10705428#10705428
    In this thread you indicated:
    "Hello,
Copy your 7D card data to a dedicated folder, use a card reader, retain all the files on the card.
Then use Log and Transfer in FCP, at that point you can choose to convert to Prores (LT) or
Prores. It works just fine. I suggest you use 30P, it is actually 29.97, and stay away 24P until
you feel comfortable with this workflow. You can use Toast 10 to archive these files.
There are other sites you should explore:
    http://prolost.com/
    http://philipbloom.co.uk/
They are exploring these new hybrid cameras very actively
    Good luck, Tom"
I tried this to no avail. I'm also having problems with some of the 7D raw files (H.264) freezing on a frame 1/3 of the way through - and Quicktime craches - I haven't seen any information in the Apple forums that address this. Thanks for your input!

  • Is there a way to set pixel aspect ratio for a project?

This is related to another post I made about using iShowU HD, a screen capture program (for screen casts). On their support page, they show example settings for FCP, but not for FCP X. I was wondering if someone could take a look at that page and decypher that for FCP X. One thing the specify for FCP is to set the pixel aspect ratio to "square pixels", as well as some other things. Also, is it good to use 30 fps?

  • DAC set tasks depth manually change number

I have an execution plan with only two tasks and both have depth of 0. One is SDE and the other is SIL. The problem is even thought SDE is set to ExtractFact, and the SIL is set to LoadFact, but when the plan runs, both are run in parallel. Or the Sil runs first then the SDE, which is not correct.
How to set one tasks depth to 1 and the other to 2, or set parameter to run them sequentially.
Looked in the Doc and nothing specific.
    Thanks

As mentioned, the DAC will run the tasks based on dependencies. So if the SDE loads a Staging table that is the source for the SIL..then the DAC will order the SDE before that SIL. However, the DAC also does everything in parallel..which means that its not required to run ALL SDEs before ANY SILs. You can have a SIL run before a SDE (or PLP run at the same time as a SIL)...etc..as long as there is no dependencies. This is why even if a certain task fails, the DAC still continues to run non-dependent tasks before it finally FAILS the load. As long as your targets/sources and Foreign Keys are defined, the DAC will assemble based on dependencies and run all non-dependent tasks in parallel.

  • SWF Panel: how to get/set pixel or better - grab and paste BitmapData

    Hi everyone,
trying to understand how to read and write pixel color from image or better - current layer but can't understand how to do this. Does this even possible? Main idea - it's pick current layer, put it to the SWF Panel. Doing there some modifications and back to Photoshop or write it by pixel. Doesn't matter.
    How know?
    I'm using Win7 x64, Photoshop CS6

We don't have a direct way of getting the pixel data back and forth from a panel.
You could try to get a socket connection via the Connections SDK and get pixel data that way. Not sure how much effort that would be. There is an AIR example in the connections SDK but I'm not certain if the socket interface will work inside of the SWF Panel.
Telling Photoshop to write them out to disk and then read them into your panel would probably be pretty clunky.

How do I change the settings for pixels in order to move the curser in fractions of pixels and get a more fluid drawing?

OK, that's the info I was looking for. For work in PS the dpi doesn't
make any difference [and 300 is - I have a few years of advertising
and production behind me, too - overkill in most cases].
