Set preferences

How do you set preferences in Reader for iPad, such as background color for notes, line weight, etc.?

For line weight, we just remember the last line weight you used as your value for new lines...we don't have a separate "Preferences" area for changing that.
We don't yet allow setting the color for sticky notes, but when we do, I expect it to be the same...direct editing with memory, rather than a "preference" as you may have become accustomed to in desktop apps.

  • Are all security updates automatic or can I set preferences?

I was out for a couple of hours. When I came back to my Macbook I had a notification that a security update had been installed.
    1) Is there any record anywhere of what update was installed?
    2) Do I have any choice or can I set preferences about when and if downloads/updates happen and are installed?
I know there is a list here: Apple security updates - Apple Support
but I want to know if there is place on my machine where i can see the updates and compare  . . just to see if, for example the December 22 update is installed.
I can also see other updates in the app store but I don't see any security updates and the updates that are listed there don't have any dates attached.
    Thanks very much,
    Michael

Thanks, I did have that setting checked for security updates but I guess it hasn't happened automatically, if ever. In fact, this article seems to be saying this was the first automatic one ever?
    http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/12/23/us-apple-cybersecurity-idUSKBN0K108W20 141223
So, is there a place that I can see what security updates have been installed?
I can see all the app updates in the app store but not security "patches."
    Thanks again,
    Michael

  • How do i set preferences in LR 2.4 to convert  all imports to DNG?

How do i set preferences in LR 2.4 to convert all imports to DNG? Is there any downside to doing this automatically?

There isn't a preference for automatically converting to DNG, instead you choose Convert to DNG within the File Handling section of the Import window.
Within the Import section of the Preferences panel you need decide how the DNG files are to be created. The following screen shot is probably the best choice for Lr 2.4 and later.

  • Setting Preferences Issue

After setting preferences and clicking "OK" The items you have selected change. If you open the preference window again they all reset to the default and any changes you had made are no longer present. Thus you have to reset all of the preferences each time you open that window.

I can reproduce this once on each machine I have tried.
1 Open Raptor and go straight to preferences.
2 Change Code Editor | Font | Font Size
    3 Click on OK.
    The file system\oracle.idex.11.0.0.36.49\preferences.xml is unchanged.
4 Go into preferences, change and OK things as often as you like. The file remains unchanged. I also think that raptor rereads the unchanged preferences.xml each time. This would explain why things revert to default.
    5 Close Raptor
The file is updated. It will contain only the last set of changes you made to preferences.
Start raptor again and preferences work as expected including updating the preferences file everytime you use the preferences dialog box.

  • Customizing The Tool Bar and Setting Preferences Problems

    Need Help With Safari
While trying to customize the toolbar and setting preferences like setting auto fill, adding Develop or any other preference everything looks fine, I shut down Safari and re-open and everything I changed has been lost.  I've tried removing the P-Lists, re-installing Mountian Lion 10.8.4 and several other things to fix this problem.
One other thing that happens is, I try to add a new folder to the favorites bar and all it does is loop. once the looping startes I have to force quite.  The only way to add a new folder is on my iPhone or iPad.

Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Show Info
from the contextual menu.* An Info dialog should open.
Does the dialog show "You can read and write" in the Sharing & Permissions section?
In the General section, is the box labeled Locked checked?
    What is the Modified date?
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). Open a TextEdit window and paste into it (command-V). Select the line you just pasted and continue as above.

  • How do you get firefox 4 to save tabs and windows and restore them? Don't say set preferences to open them on startup or use restore previous session under history; those do not work. Or is it no longer possible to save windows and tabs?

    Question
How do you get firefox 4 to save tabs and windows and restore them? Don't say set preferences to open them on startup or use restore previous session under history; those do not work. Or is it no longer possible to save windows and tabs?

'''IT'S A EASY AS IT SHOULD BE.'''
This is essentially paulbruster's answer, but I've added the steps some might assume, but which aren't so obvious to those of us who are new at this, like me.
This solution might ''appear'' to be long and complicated, but after you follow the directions once, you'll find it's quick, clean, and simple. Almost like they designed it this way.
    # If you haven't already, open a bunch of tabs on a few different subjects.
    # Click the List All Tabs button on the right side of the tab strip.
    # Select Tab Groups.
    # Create a few groups as described [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/what-are-tab-groups#w_how-do-i-create-a-tab-group here] , i.e. just drag them out of the main thumbnail group into the new groups they create.
    # Now click on any thumbnail in any new group, but not the original big default group you may have left some tabs in.
#A regular Firefox window will open, but'' only the tabs in that group will be visible.'' You also now have the Tab Groups button in the tab strip.
    # Right click on any tab, and there it is: Bookmark All Tabs. Click on it in the list of options. Or you can hit Ctrl+Shift+D instead and go straight to the dialogue box from the tab without any clicks. But don't go looking for this familiar option anywhere else, 'cause it's not there.
    # Now pick an existing folder or create a new one just like you would have before and '''shlpam!''' there they are. New folders are supposed to end up in the Unsorted category all the way at the very bottom, but for some reason mine show up at the bottom of my last sorted category.
    # DO NOT CLICK THE UPPER-RIGHTMOST X to close this group of tabs. This will close ALL of your tabs in all groups, currently visible or not. At least it asks if you're sure first. Instead, click your new Tab Groups button to return to the Boxes 'O Thumbnails window, and click the X in the group box you just bookmarked.
    # Click on another thumbnail to repeat the process with another group, or click on a thumbnail in the big default box to return to the original FF window. You can also click the Tab Groups button at the upper right, or Ctrl+Shift+E, which will also get you ''into'' the Boxes 'O Nails window ''from'' FF.
    # So now when you reopen FF after shutdown, simply select your folder from your Bookmarks and Open All in Tabs. '''Just like paulbruster said. '''

  • Can't set preferences, and other greyed menu choices

Cannot set preferences for iDVD 06, and most menu choices are greyed.
[Note: this is NOT the case with all other iLife 06 applications where all menu selections are active.]
Looking through this forum I tried deleting the files in the library, as seems to be a frequent solution to everythng. This did NOT work in my case.
This is the only program in iLife06 which has this problem. All the others have active menu selection. I can't even get "About iDVD" to work!
Thanks for your help. Very frustrated.

I would start by forcing AppleWorks to create new preference files.
Quit AppleWorks and go to the Finder.
    In a finder window, go:
    yourname > Library > Preferences
Locate and select the folder AppleWorks and the file com.apple.appleworks.plist
Drag both to the Desktop or to the Trash (but don't empty the Trash).
Relaunch AppleWorks to check for any change.
    Regards,
    Barry
NOTE: This will return all preferences to their default settings. AppleWorks will construct new copies of the plist, the folder, and the files in the folder as it needs them. If you have made changes to the Button Bar, and have had no issues related to the Button Bar, you can restore those changes (probably without issues arising) by dragging the Button Bar file from the folder you moved into the new one in Preferences when it is created.

    Edit:
While your issue does not appear to be caused by the Recent Items bug referenced in Michael's post (after "Also perhaps..", there's no danger in clearing your Recent Items folder as discussed in the linked User Tip. This is a 'regular maintenance' procedure for me.

  • Setting Preferences in bpel.xml

Hi again, in the bpel.xml you can configure preferences
for setting value pair properties that are defined in the deployment descriptor of a BPEL process and can be accessed at runtime by the BPEL process
    eg
    <BPELSuitcase>
    <BPELProcess id="test" src="test.bpel">
    <preferences>
    <<property name="myConstant">50</property>
    </preferences>
    </BPELProcess>
    </BPELSuitcase>
Is there a way this can also be done at the domain level,
where you can set preference values that can be accessed by all deployed processes? We are basically want to set global runtime "constants" which can be altered and maintained from the BPEL console for all deployed processes.
    thanks
    -Sean

    Thanks Edwin.
I have a chicken and egg problem here in that I want to set up a list of global values
that apply to all deployed processes. So I run something like
    ora:doc("http://www.bpel.com:9700/wscommon/globalparams.xml", "/configuration/MaxValue").
This works fine, however I need to hardcode the full url of the file which is deployed to
get it to get it too work.
Is there a way of either accessing this domain wideglobal file relatively such as either
    -ora:doc("/wscommon/globalparams.xml", "/configuration/MaxValue")
    -ora:doc("../wscommon/globalparams.xml", "/configuration/MaxValue")
    -ora:doc("%hostname%/wscommon/globalparams.xml", "/configuration/MaxValue")

  • Set preferences to appear like windows pc

I need to access my online banking but cannot do so with an Apple computer and cannot do so with Safari. How do I set preferences to appear like a Windows-based PC while logging on?

The "User Agent" Internet Explorer 9 available in Safari 6  is so ancient and that may not help.
To select that option you have to enable "Develop" menu.
    Enable Develop menu
    Safari > Preferences > Advanced
Check mark in the box for " Enable Develop menu".
Click "Develop" in the Safari menu bar and select  User Agent > Internet Explorer 9.
    Try Firefox browser.
    Best.

2)whats best quality settinh to convert, import from Windoze Media files, ie whixh encoder to chose?

    1) how do I set preferences so a song STOPS at end ,and doesnt go to next song
Make a playlist containing only that song. Play it. There's a nice option to make quick playlists in the menu, it's called "New Playlist from Selection".
2)whats best quality settinh to convert, import from Windoze Media files, ie whixh encoder to chose?
The AAC Encoder in iTunes is easily the best of the lossy formats. The bitrate is your choice. I like 160.

how do I set preferences to "show all" windows in all open applications (until I quit the application) ?

  • After installing Mt. Lion, Mail no longer asks for a password, even though I set preference for using a password.

After installing Mt. Lion 10.8.2, Mail no longer asks for a password before opening messages, even though I tried to set preferences for using the password. Help!

In Mail Preferences, Accounts item: I tried to delete the password (but that did not save). I got this idea from some Mail Help item that I cannot seem to find again. I cannot recall how I did it in Snow Leopard, but I had it set to ask for a password that was used solely for Mail. It would not download anything until I entered that password. Note: I am not on a network; just the single user of the MacPro. Thank you for any guidance you might be able to offer.
