let me explain that :
when i use the wireless of our university,i have to set the proxy to my wifi to use the internet
with this config 192.168.0.1 port:8080 and my account (myusername and mypassword)
it works perfect
but when i want to set vpn(pptp) to my iphone ,it doesn't work
in the vpn part i set a manually proxy, but it dosen't work:(
what should i do?
Hi!
I have similar problem. I use OpenVPN-on-demand and it works well. But I need to use proxy for surfing. I set it up in configuration profile (Proxy setup - Manual, then address and port), but Safari doesn't use them.
BUT!
If i connected to VPN and this proxy is set up in Wi-Fi settings, then traffic goes through this proxy. Of couse, after disconnect from VPN, Safari tries to use this proxy.
What should I do to make it work correctly?

Setting up IPsec VPNs to use with Cisco Anyconnect
So I've been having trouble setting up vpns on our ASA 5510. I would like to use IPsec VPNs so that we don't have to worry about licensing issues, but from what I've read you can do this with and still use Cisco Anyconnect. My knowledge on how to set up VPNs especially in iOS verion 8.4 is limited so I've been using a combination of command line and ASDM.
I'm finally able to connect from a remote location but once I connect, nothing else works. From what I've read, you can use IPsec for client-to-lan connections. I've been using a preshared key for this. Documentation is limited on what should happen after you connect? Shouldn't I be able to access computers that are local to the vpn connection? I'm trying to set this up from work. If I VPN from home, shouldn't I be able to access all resources at work? I think because I've used the command line as well as ASDM I've confused some of the configuration. Plus I think some of the default policies are confusing me too. So I probably need a lot of help. Below is my current configuration with IP address altered and stuff that is completely non-related to vpns removed.
NOTE: We are still testing this ASA and it isn't in production.
Any help you can give me is much appreciated.

I set up the VPN, so how do access server at work?
I am a complete novice when it comes to VPNs. I was given permission to work from home and was told I had to set up a VPN to access shared documents saved on the server. I have a PC at work and a MacBook Pro at home, and my work IT department had no idea on how to set up the VPN on the Mac and won't give me any support. (I tried and failed to get the VPN set up on our desktop PC at home and the work IT department claimed it was a problem with my broadband server). I did my research, got the VPN set up on the Mac, and it shows that I'm connected. I'm at a standstill. What do I do now? I apologize because I can't remember which version of the OS I have, but I bought the Mac almost a year ago, if that's any help.
I thank you in advance.
Katek8freeman wrote:
My question is even more basic than this. I can see on the network applications screen that I am connected, so where do I go from there? I don't know the security protocol.
At this time you are not providing enough information to get any informed help. Go back to IT and ask for the settings for the VPN on a PC, post them here, we'll translate them to Macspeak. Are you trying to access the desktop of the office machine or just the file storage areas on the server?
PS: Your IT department is hopeless. -
Having trouble setting up a VPN with anywhere access.
I have tried setting up different domains/settings but I always get thge same error when setting up a VPN using Windows Server 2012. I'd like to be able to access the server on my laptop from home. Any suggestions or is more info needed?
http://imgur.com/Bh0bKdUHi trogdor182,
Please check if the VPN ports are opened on your router. Meanwhile, please run SBS BPA and check if you can
find some related issues. Please fix all that BPA can find and then check if this issue still exists.
In addition, please navigate to the path: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Server\Logs folder. Then check the
Dashboard.log if you can find some related clues.
There is an article that you can refer to.
Configure DirectAccess in Windows Server
Essentials
By the way, when this issue occurred, have you re-run the wizard to configure VPN in the server 2012 essentials?
Was the same result?
Hope this helps.
Best regards,

How can I set up a VPN on my mac?
I am trying to set up a VPN cnnection so that I can access my work from my mac. The system there is Windows based. I have found articles about how to set up a VPN on a mac but there doesn't appear to be an area to put the static IP address or the computer IP address. Any help would be appreciated!
Have read the printer manual, it will contain instructions for connecting it to a network, and then to your Mac. You don't identify this printer so it's difficult to be more specific.
You can also go to the printer manufacturers website and seek assistance there. -
How can I set up a VPN between two MacBook Pros
I am about to buy a new MacBook Pro, I will be leaving my old MacBook Pro in my office in Nicaragua and traveling with my new MBP. I would like to be able to access files on my old laptop from the road, I imagine using some sort of VPN software to patch into my old computer as long as it is on and connected to the Internet.
Can you help me to set this up. It feels as though it could be difficult, but I imagine it si much simpler than I think.
Thanks,
Richard.See if this helps

I'm mainly using it to bypass an internet block. Could you explain in detail how to set up a vpn that will also work on iPhone? Do you have any recommended applications for me to install? Thank you
To run a public VPN server behind an NAT gateway, you need to do the following:
1. Give the gateway either a static external address or a dynamic DNS name. The latter must be a DNS record on a public DNS registrar, not on the server itself. Also in the latter case, you must run a background process to keep the DNS record up to date when your IP address changes.
2. Give the VPN server a static address on the local network, and a hostname that is not in the top-level domain "local" (which is reserved for Bonjour.)
3. Forward external UDP ports 500, 1701, and 4500 (for L2TP) and TCP port 1723 (for PPTP) to the corresponding ports on the VPN server.
If your router is an Apple device, select the Network tab in AirPort Utility and click Network Options. In the sheet that opens, check the box marked
Allow incoming IPSec authentication
if it's not already checked, and save the change.
With a third-party router, there may be a similar setting.
4. Configure any firewall in use to pass this traffic.
5. Each client must have an address on a netblock that doesn't overlap the one assigned by the VPN endpoint. For example, if the endpoint assigns addresses in the 10.0.0.0/24 range, and the client has an address on a local network in the 10.0.1.0/24 range, that's OK, but if the local network is 10.0.1.0/16, there will be a conflict. To lessen the chance of such conflicts, it's best to assign addresses in a random sub-block of 10.0.0.0./0 with a 24-bit netmask.
6. "Back to My Mac" on the server is incompatible with the VPN service.
If the server is directly connected to the Internet, see this blog post. -
How to set proxy while deploying a bpel proxy?
Hi All,
How can i set proxy while deploying a bpel process. I'm trying to deploy an async bpel process that requires proxy to be set coz to access one of the xsd file requires to go thru a proxy. I have actually set proxy in the following files, setenv.bat and bpel-install.properties under location soa_home\bpel\bin and soa_home\bpel\system\services\install\ant-tasks respectively. When i try to deploy the process through obant.bat, it compiles file but gives an error while deploying stating that it is not able to access the xsd file. While compiling, the proxy setting is taken from setenv.bat and hence compiles successfully, but while deploying it doesn't seem to take the proxy setting set in bpel-install.properties file. HT4654 setting proxy websites in osx 10.8.2
setting proxy websites in osx 10.8.2
Thank PapaSmurf (?)
My problem was that in Sound settings was not indicated the Head-Set device, although existing, but BoomDevice, that greatly enhances the sound level. So what I had to do was first change from BoomDevice to the Head-Set, and then I changed down to Internal speaker and then again chose BoomDevice. That way, I could turn off the Head-Set without getting the error message, and yet maintain the internal speaker through the BoomDevice.
I had a feeling that I had to do something with the sound settings and your reply made me experiment and succeed! Thanks once again! -

Setting proxy-user credentials
Hi!
I'm trying to make database reads through the proxy account ('main' proxy user)
and writes through 'normal' proxy user depending on what user is logged in application and make this writes. Proxy user is authenticated by name and password.
1) I've created accounts for proxy users in Oracle DB.
2) I've implemented session event handler for the preLogin event like in the reference:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/doc/1013/main/_html/dblgcfg008.htm
3)Then I need to acquire all client sessions of any logged in application user
with their own proxy-user credentials, but
a) there is no such event as preAcquireClientSession;
b) when this is done in postAcquireClientSession it has no effect (all writes are performed by the 'main' proxy user).
How to solve 3)? Is there any class or event in TopLink where I can set proxy-user credentials?
Hints or ideas will be so helpfull.
By the way, I'm using TopLink 10.1.3, Spring 2.0.Thanks for reply. I've already read that, very usefull thread. But before today I could not get where interaction with server is.
Now I think I should investigate in org.springframework.orm.toplink.TopLinkTransactionManager, the key to solve my problem not only in TopLink but in Spring also. -
Help with setting up a VPN on a RV042
Is there any documentation out there on a step-by-step instructions on setting up a vpn on a RV042 router?
Scott,
You can Google RV042 vpn setup and many links will displayed on how to set up vpn. This might be versions 1 & 2 with different looking interfaces but general setup is the same.
Also if you go to cisco.com website you also can search for RV042 setup guides. Link below was brought up using (RV042 vpn setup) @ cisco.com search.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/csbr/app_notes/rv0xx_g2gvpn_an_OL-26286.pdf
Hope this helps,

Can anyone help me with applying settings for ultimate security and privacy. I like to keep the computer free from clutter and info, cookies, cache etc... Are there any applications or support I can add to the already wonderful OS. Should I set up a VPN? Any advise or knowledge would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
I have read several articles in which it says "the rule of three" meaning three backups , is this for real?
I don't think you understood the context. It was meant to say that your Time Machine backup drive should be three times the capacity as the drive(s) backed up. If your drive were 100 GBs, then the backup drive for Time Machine should be 300 GBs. In fact it should be at least twice the capacity. More being better.
I also thought about the cloning aspect but have never used it before.
Cloned backups differ from Time Machine in that they are fully bootable (which is not the case for Time Machine) and only require a backup drive to be the same size as the drive backed up. Incremental backups simply replace old files with new copies and new files. This requires using third-party backup utilities such as:
Some Suggested Backup Software
1. Carbon Copy Cloner
2. Data Backup
3. Deja Vu
4. SuperDuper!
5. Synk Pro
6. Tri-Backup
Others may be found at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on backup and restore. Also read How to Back Up and Restore Your Files.
I would also like to use SL as a second OS with this computer , how would I do this without using my internal hd and adding partitions to it as I understand that SL is the only OS that you can boot externally from the new OS's that Apple has used.(Lion/ML)
Technically, this is a different topic and should have been posted separately.
Any version of OS X may be installed and booted from an external drive. But, iMacs made after 2009 cannot be started from the retail copy of Snow Leopard. Snow Leopard must be updated to 10.6.8 to boot any of the extant iMacs produced after 2009. This does not apply to the yet released new iMac which will only run Mountain Lion. -
I want to install CCPL ,but it is not taking PAC file proxy. So please suggest an alternate way to set proxy for this exe file..
That file might have moved to a different location on the server. I think you'll need to check with RefWorks support or your local IT department on why the install page links do not work.
