Set Query Window default date format to full date

When I run a query form the the Query Window in Visuial Studios 2012 all the date fields truncated to 'mm/dd/yyyy', but i need the full date returned. I am able to get full date from  TO_char(MyDateField, 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss'), but if I do TO_DATE(MyDateField, 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss')  it only returns  'mm/dd/yyyy'. I'm sure this is a simple setting in Visual studios but I cant find it to save my life. Is there there a way to have the full date returned by default? Thanks!

San,
could you be more precise about what do you want to do? If you want to save the date from the form in you database you need to convert it to DATE datatype inside the insert statement in you java code(using oracle to_date function). If you want to save current date/time you can use SYSDATE function in you sql insert statement.
what do you mean by "automatically fills up the same field in database"? There must be SQL Insert statement inside your java code that does the insert - can you post it here?

    Formscentral - how do I change required date format to long date (e.g. January 2, 2014) in a form field?  I can't seem to change it from the short date format.

    Hi,
    I would suggest you to change the form language to English (UK), Here are the steps:-
    1. Open your form in FormsCentral
    2. Clik on Options tab
    3. Click on Language and Formatting and check out the selection for Form Language and make sure English (U.K.) is selected and the default date format should be day/month/year.

  • Date Format for Spry data set sort

    Hi
    Just feeling my way through the use of Spry Datasets for the
    first time and have a couple of issues hopefully someone with more
    knowledge of it than me know the answer to.
    I had an issue with my Spry Dataset initially that it would
    not work in ie7 but was OK in FF3.
    After some mucking round I realised the error I was getting -
    albeit obscure in IE was telling me it was a date format issue in
    my data set.
    The db data I am playing with here is fairly simple: I have a
    couple of text fields, an integer field that contains the
    unixtimestamp of the entry (its a simple diary application) and a
    formal date field that holds the same date in mysql's date format.
    When I display the date in the dataset I do so in the format
    "23rd May 2009" (as an example)- I code this using phps date
    function in my xml query.
    I had set this field to date format in the Spry dataset
    conditions but IE seems to barf on this- I can change it to
    textstring but then my sort is done on Alpha/Numeric sort of the
    first character in the date field which is rubbish.
    I only display the date in this format and one of the other
    text fields in my dataset- the unixdate is for programmatic
    purposes not general display so I cannot sort on this field if its
    invisible. How can I acheive a date based sort with this set up- or
    what date formats does Spry code prefer for date sorts? (My client
    wants the date to show as I have explained). Many thanks. I have a
    second query which I will post separately!

    to implement this.
    You can take a look at this page:
    http://visual.unipv.it/tmt_calendar/admin/reports/events.cfm
    Even if all the dates here are incidentally using the
    yyyy-mm-dd format, the
    dataset display the date from the "start_date_formatted"
    field:
    <td><a href="javascript:"
    onclick="showUpdate('{event_id}')">{start_date_formatted}</a></td>
    But uses another field to sort the table:
    <th scope="col" spry:sort="start_date">Start
    date</th>
    You can have the same date, using two different formats,
    inside two,
    separated dataset fields. One is used for display, the other
    one is used for
    sort.
    You may try to read again my previous explanations, look at
    the code in the
    page above and see if you get the idea.

  • Change default date format of reports data source

    Hi all,
    I need to convert an ugly EBS standard charactermode report (Oracle Reports) into the Xml-Publisher format. I'd like to use the existing report as the xml data source as all data is available in the old report.
    The problem is that the date format used by reports is determined by NLS_DATE_FORMAT (et al). This date format unfortunately is not xml compliant (dd.mm.yyyy in our case) and so Xml-Publisher date related features (e.g. sort by date) will not work .
    The report/template is submitted via the submit concurrent request form.
    Is there a way to make the underlying reports produce xml conformant dates without resorting to wild substring operations in the template or changing the EBS standard report?
    Thanks
    Christoph

    Can i change the nls parameter of a particular column(date field) in a table?if i set that it is apllied to all the tables in the database..No. Please understand that all dates, in all tables are stored in the same, oracle-defined, format. NLS_date_format affects how that internal date is converted to a character string for presentation to humans, or how to interpret a character string (received ,ultimately, from a human) for conversion to that internal format. It (NLS_DATE_FORMAT) can be set at several levels, but table/column is not one of them.
    Please read the link I posted in my earlier response. It will clear up your confusion.

    Override the setVisible(boolean show) and show() methods so that they set the bounds before calling super.setVisible(show) or super.show()
    ie
    public void setVisible(boolean show) {

  • Date format for parameter data entry

    I've just started working on MS SQL Server 2008 for the first time and am using Crystal XI11.5.  I have a date parameter used to pick data.  It works fine but the users are used to entering dates in mm/dd/yyyy format but this parameter forces users to enter using yyyy-mm-dd.
    Normally I am not too concerned as there is the calendar but I have a couple of keyboard users who would like to just enter in the date format they are used to.   I can't find any spot in Crystal to change the data entry format for the dates.
    I do understand that SQL Server does store dates in yyyy-mm-dd format so is this why I only have this option?  Any way to change it?  I do have dates in the report presenting in d-MMM-yyyy format without problem, it's just the date entry prompt.
    TIA rasinc

    The later versions of CR will not allow you to directly edit the SQL statement. You actually have to add a Command and remove the tables from the data source. You can, if you wish, copy the SQL from the "Show SQL Query" and paste it into the Command.
    The reason I tried to delete my previous comment is because it dawned on me (after I made the comment)  that the date picker control itself, won't accept any format other than YYYY-MM-DD.  So, while you can write the SQL to accept a variety of date formats, you won't be able use any of them while using that control.
    The CR date picker control can be found (and therefore replaced by someone w/ more guts than me) in the following locations...
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\3.5\crystalreportviewers115\prompting
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\crystalreportviewers12\prompting

  • DVT X Axis Date Formatting using tabular data

    Hi,
    I have a curious question about the <dvt:attributeFormat>.
    I wanted to format my bar graph x-axis with locale sensitive date formatting.
    I saw this attribute <dvt:attributeFormat> which I think is the best tool for the job.
    <dvt:barGraph id="wsssudg1" subType="BAR_VERT_CLUST" tabularData="#{myBean.tabularData}">
              <dvt:a t t r i b u t e F o r m a t  >
                   <af:convertDateTime locale="#{myBean.locale}"/>
              </dvt:a t t r i b u t e F o r m a t  >
    </dvt:barGraph>
    My only concern is this.  I am not using page binding in building my graph data but using tabularData property instead.
    I am passing a java.util.Date object also from my getTabularData method
    public class MyBean{
        public List getTabularData(){
            /*More code her*/
            return list;
    According to the java docs here http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24382_01/apirefs.1112/e17490/tagdoc/dvt_attributeFormat.html
    The name of the categorical attribute is the name of the attribute/layer that was added to the Graph DataModel. The Graph model can be set declaratively by updating the pagedef. Here is the associated view pagedef for the above graph:
    <graph IterBinding="EmpView1Iterator" id="EmpView1"
          xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/dvt" type="BAR_VERT_CLUST">
        <graphDataMap leafOnly="true">
            <series>
              <data>
                <item value="Bonus"/>
              </data>
            </series>
            <groups>
              <item value="Hiredate"/>
            </groups>
        </graphDataMap>
    </graph
    >
    ..but since I am not using page binding then what name should I put there?
    Any DVT experts around?

    I tried different name but I cant find the correct attribute name.  Tried 'object', 'attribute 1' etc but it seems not correct.
    <dvt:barGraph id="wsssudg1" subType="BAR_VERT_CLUST" tabularData="#{myBean.tabularData}">
              <dvt:a t t r i b u t e F o r m a t  >
                   <af:convertDateTime locale="#{myBean.locale}"/>
              </dvt:a t t r i b u t e F o r m a t  >
    </dvt:barGraph>
    Does this mean that this tag only works when you are using page binding?
    If you are using tabulardata in managing your data then does it mean that you cannot use this tag?
    Then how do you format DVT graph data that uses tabularData if you do not know the attribute name?
    The javadoc tag reference does not mention anything about this.
    Anyone has experience in dealing with this scenario?
    Use case:
    How do you format date attribute in a locale sensitive manner when your graph is using custom list in the tabulardata tag property of your graph component.
    Thanks

  • Transforming Multiple Date Formats to Consistent Date Format

    I have a power query with some sources use the date format "2014-01-31" and the others use "42029". When I Transform the column to a Date data type, the "2014-01-31" format gets transformed but the "42029"
    stays the same.
    How do I fix this so all dates are in the same format?

    I think one o the issues here is that the format is ambiguous and while the date transform function tries to be very lenient in terms of what it will accept, it can only go so far. If you convert the date to a number first, then Date.From is actually going
    to give you what you want.
    Are there any other columns in your table that can indicate in which format the date it? Otherwise, you could do something like this:
    = Table.AddColumn(Source, "Custom", each if Text.Contains([DateColumn], "-") then Date.From([DateColumn]) else Date.From(Number.From([DateColumn])))
    Here I check if the date string has a "-". If it does, I use Date.From and if it does it I use Date.From with Number.From.

  • Custom Data Formatting Gone for Dates

    Another new aspect of the updated Numbers app for OS X is the loss of customizing data formats.  There are more options via a drop down, but there's less customization.  For example.  I had a use case where I'd take a column full of dates and would replicate it so the same data was in two columns.  I then was able to customize the first column of dates to use a month shortcode only so it would render "Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr..." depending on the data in that column.  The next colum with the same data I'd then customize to show only the day of the month.  See the example below.
    Date
    Column 1
    Date
    Column 2
    Jan
    4
    Mar
    15
    Oct
    23
    Presently, neither the shortnames for months by themselves nor the day of the month by itself is available as an option when working in the Data Format panel.
    I'm assuming the customization was killed, but if someone knows if that's hidden elsewhere, please let me know!

    Hi Bret,
    I don't know the answer to your actual question as I tend to later adoption, and am not yet using Numbers 3.0, but here's a workaround (with some limitations, noted below).
    Limitations:
    Requires that the values in the cells are created by formulas, or can be created by formulas referencing another cell.
    The resulting values will be a text string (column A) or a numeric value (column B), not a Date and Time value.
    A: =LEFT(MONTHNAME(MONTH(formula)),3)
    B: =DAY(formula)
    In each, formula is the existing formula used to determine the D&T value currently in the cell.

    But when we reorder the column in "Updated" in Destination table, the package is importing data successfully.
    This looks like bug to me, Any suggestion?

    Hi Mohideen,
    Based on my research, the issue might be related to one of the following factors:
    Memory pressure. Check there is a memory challenge when the issue occurs. In addition, if the package runs in 32-bit runtime on the specific server, use the 64-bit runtime instead.
    A known issue with SQL Native Client. As a workaround, use .NET data provider instead of SNAC.
    Hope this helps.
