Set the initial (default) window size

The default size of Pages (actually, of all the iWork apps) is smaller than I like and I repeatedly have to resize the window to a size I prefer. Is there any way to specify a new default window size for iWork apps?
Thanks.

One of my frequent answers:
You need to create your own default template. Open the blank template & insert a table, click in it & choose the font, size, color, etc. you want in the fonts panel or format bar. You can do similar changes to inserted objects & text boxes. While you're at it resize the box if you want, set the amount of extra space in the wrap inspector, etc. Delete each text box, object & table after you've set them. Now, save this document as a template & select that template as default in preferences. If you decide to make any changes to the template down the road, just Save As Template again with the same name & replace the previous version.
Now, save this as a template then, in Pages > Preferences, select this template as the default for new documents. All of your new documents will have these settings for inserted objects, images & tables. Unfortunately, the settings won't apply to any other templates or "foreign" documents you open with Pages.
About the only thing you can’t set a template to do is remember to show invisibles & the window position. It is possible to get a template to show invisibles when opened, if you want. Save this document as a document then, in the Finder, change the extension from .pages to .template & put it in your My Templates folder in HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Application Support > iWork > Pages > Templates > My Templates.Set up your document with the line spacing, margins, headers, etc. as you'd like. Redefine all of the paragraph & character styles to have your desired font.

  • How do I set the initial servlet pool size in WL 5.1

              In WL 4.5, I can set the initial servlet pool size using the
              weblogic.httpd.servlet.SingleThreadedModelPoolSize. I tried to set this property in WL 5.1, and get an "Found undeclared property..." message when booting WL. Is this feature still supported in WL 5.1? If so, how do I set it?

    It appears that pool size of 5 is hardcoded somewhere - no matter where you specify
              weblogic.httpd.servlet.SingleThreadedModelPoolSize, the following test servlet:
              import javax.servlet.*;
              import javax.servlet.http.*;
              public class SingleT extends HttpServlet implements SingleThreadModel {
              static int instanceCount = 0;
              public SingleT() {
              super();
              System.out.println("Instance " + (++instanceCount) + " created");
              always produces:
              Instance 1 created
              Wed Nov 01 11:15:36 PST 2000:<I> <ServletContext-General> SingleT: init
              Instance 2 created

  • Adobe Acrobat X - initial (default) window size to large

    I recently changed my monitor and now whenever I open a PDF the default window size takes up 80% of my screen.  I'm using Filemaker 12 to create these PDFs, and the inital view is set to Page Only, Single Page and 100% Magnification.  The problem is the Acrobat window is about twice the size of the page width, covering up the rest of my windows.  I cannot find the setting to specify the default window size?
    I'm running Acrobat X 10.1.6, running on OS X 10.8.3
    Please advise.

    How are you creating your PDF from Excel? Are you using the PDFMaker macro or the Adobe PDF printer?

  • Setting the initial default project on tomcat

    Hi, Sorry, I know this is not the rigth place for thie question becausse is not related to java but to tomcat. Anyway I hope anyone in the comunity can help me.
    I have tomcat installed and my app is already deployed on it. if I use the url:
    localhost:8080 I see the tomcat page and my project is in: localhost:8080/myapp
    now what I want is:
    that when I go to localhost:8080 instead os appearing the tomcat home page I want it to appear my app. Any suggestions?

    This link might help:
    http://wiki.apache.org/tomcat/EditDefaultJSPPage
    After you remove the compiled index.jsp page in the jar file,
    change the index.jsp page in the folder they reference so it forwards to your application (url).
    Now when you type http://locahost:8080, it should go to your application.
    I'm not sure it will work as described since I never tried it.

    It sounds that there is a problem with the file that stores the preferences.
    Delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.

  • How to change the default window size display font size on Lync 2013 main window?

    Hi champs,
    Just a simple non-technical question: How to change the default window size display font size on Lync 2013 main window on Windows 7 desktop?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Did you mean change the Lync: Change the Default Font and Color of Instant Messages just as Edwin said above?
    If not, as I know, there is no natural way to change it.
    If yes, on the latest version of Lync 2013 client, there is a new option “IM” on Lync client “Options” list. And you need to change the default Font and Color of IM in the interface of “IM”.

  • Setting a max/min window size

    Does anyone know how to set a min/max window size? I couldn't find a simple var that does it. I guess I could make it auto size to a default if it gets too big/small. Any other suggestions?

    Have you checked the API's? There's actionListeners for frames and such, perhaps you could listen for resize events and set the size of the frame that way?

  • OHJ Default Window Size

    I have set specific dimensions for an Oracle Help window to be displayed and have amended the *.hs file of the wintype from "False" to "True". When a context sensitive topic is launched from a Help button the OHJ window is displayed the correct size. However, when the Help is launched from the help menu the size setting is ignored and the window is displayed too large.
    Any ideas how I can force the window to be displayed the correct size?
    Many thanks in advance... Julie

    Hi Jeffrey,
    This is Julie (just using a different login). Sorry for the delay in replying. I have been reliably informed:
    The difference between a button and the help menu item is thus:
    For a help menu we call CSHManager.showNavigatorWindow()
    For a help button we call CSHManager.showHelpForComponent(Component thisComponent)
    Otherwise the code is pretty much identical, certainly nothing that looks like it would affect the use of the default window size.
    I hope this makes sense!
    Kind Regards,
    Julie

  • Desire a default window size when opening 2nd Firefox window, when 1st window is a narrow news streamer

    Hi,
    When I have a Nasdaq ticker running using firefox, then any time I open a new firefox window, it defaults in size to the small ticker window size. I then have to resize the window.
    Is there any way to have firefox always open to a default size, regardless whether there are already other firefox windows open (of other sizes)?

    So, there is no about config entry that you can actually manually set the specific window size, however there is an add on that allows you to set the size called [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/firesizer/ Firesizer]. Try this out.

  • How  to change default window size?

    I'm using MX 6.0 on Mac... For some reason I can't figure out
    how to change the default window size in the work windows. Every
    time I open a new file to work on it opens to a smaller size than
    the actual page is. When opening pages dozens of times a day, it
    gets annoying to have to resize each time. I'm sure it wasn't
    always like this, but I can't figure out how to change it so the
    default size that it opens to each time is larger.
    Thanks for any help,

  • Open File Dialog, Select either FIle or Folder, but Set the Initial Location to ftp://

    Hello,
    I want to be able to open a file dialog, set the initial location to an ftp:// address, and allow the user to select individual files or a directory.
    I can use the File Dialog express VI, and wire in a start path, but the problem is that the filepath constant does not allow you to input ftp://[IPAddress]. If you type it in it will automatically adjust the path to read . If you right click, and hit browse and go to an ftp site, the dialog will not let you select a file or folder. And no you cannot type the address into a string and then convert that to a path. If you do it will look just like the image above.
    I can use .NET functions as seen below, but it is not trivial to allow the user to select files or a folder. The same is true if I write it in C++ (although I haven't tried this yet, just googled selecting files or folders in a file dialog).
    EDIT: I just realized that with .NET if I select a single file, the FileName it returns points to a temporary internet folder on my computer for example: C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\P01ODP0F\ni-rt[1].ini
    The FileDIalog Express VI has these very options.
    So what is the easiest way to have an initial ftp address path for a file dialog, and allow the user to select files or a folder?

    Have never had to do that before - that's a bit of a drag.
    Some thoughts.
    1) Can you map a drive to that FTP address and go from there?
    2) You could try rolling your own dialog via FTP - that's something I've definitely done before!
    In the following snippet, I start an FTP session on the NI FTP site, log in as anonymous, list the base directory files/folders and then close my session. I then unbundle the directory listings array and plug the name and item type into the item names of a multicolumn listbox.

  • How do I return to Firefox's Default window size?

    I want to return Firefox to the default window size it had when I installed it. I know how to re-size the window with the mouse, but I want it to be exactly the same (px) every time.

    Window sizes and positions are stored in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/localstore.rdf localstore.rdf] in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder].
    You can delete the file or remove the current custom settings from that file to reset the window size to the default.<br />
    As an alternative you can edit or remove the main-window section in localstore.rdf if you want to keep the toolbar customization:
    <pre><nowiki>RDF:Description RDF:about="chrome://browser/content/browser.xul#main-window"</nowiki></pre>

  • I want to restore default window size of iTunes.

    I'm quite obssessed with keeping default settings. So I never change size of window and of course keep using iTunes without changing its size of window.
    But today, the window size suddenly changed of itself - too small.
    I want to restore the size to what it used to be. (I'm not asking how to change the size)
    I tried deleting iTunes Library.itl, which works when it comes to the size, but is not desirable because I lost other data - such as Play list and play count etc.
    Are there any ways to restore the default window size of iTunes without deleting iTunes Library.itl?

    Did you ever figure this out? If so, please let me in on the secret!

  • DEFAULT WINDOW SIZE IN 45B

    Hi, I am trying to determine the line a condition type is on to be able to delete that line in a pricing screen.  I am on 45b and DEFSIZE in the function CALL TRANSACTION is not available to me.  Please help.  I call a screen to get the number of screen rows but the static number of lines seems to change depending on font size.
    I have it working in my development system but in the QA system it fails.  I only have an issue with background processing.
    Any help would be much appreciated.  Regards  Joanne

    hi,
    long ago i found this example in a forum:
    "CTU_PARMS will force the BDC to use the standard default screen size (rather than being dynamic based on the user's settings. I think I explained that right, but all I know is that it keeps the BDC from behaving differently between users and makes things more consistent for coding logic".
    Here's an example (note that DEFSIZE is the key to the solution here):
    data: begin of tran_opts,
    dismode type ctu_params-dismode value 'N',
    updmode type ctu_params-updmode value 'S',
    cattmode type ctu_params-cattmode,
    <b>defsize type ctu_params-defsize value 'X'</b>,
    racommit type ctu_params-racommit,
    nobinpt type ctu_params-nobinpt,
    nobiend type ctu_params-nobiend,
    end of tran_opts.
    call transaction 'F-02'
    using bdcdata
    options from tran_opts
    messages into bdc_messages
    Hope it helps,
