Set up default picture directory

Hi there!
I have a problem: my default picture directory is not set!
I cannot even make screenshots because there is no default location to write them to. I am using gnome 3.4.1 if it helps...
Thanks..........

^^ I already looked for that button, but I was not able to find any kind of "mark as solved"-button
shame on me

  • How can I change the default EXPORT directory for latest iPhoto?

Perhaps I am missing something, but I have as yet to find a way to set my default EXPORT directory. Since installing Lion and the iPhoto update, whenever I want to export it wants to put the image in 'Pictures', but I want 'Desktop' generally or somewhere else.
I am all set with library and import location. In fact, Import is smart enough to remember where I import my stuff FROM - namely, the desktop.
But once I have edited files and want to export them, the default jumps back to Pictures.
Again, this is NEW and CHANGED behavior with the latest release to coincide with iOS 5 ...
I just want it to remember my default from export to export ... heck, it even changes within the same session!

I can certainly confirm the behaviour and have no solution to it.
That said, in the export dialogue typing command-d will point the export to the desktop.

  • A.Reader 10.1.3 Default Save Directory

    Hi,
Ive tried searching on the forum, but i haven't been able to find an solution.
As the title might show, i'm looking for a way to set a default save directory for Adobe Reader version 10.1.3
The reason for this, is that when a user tries to save a file PDF file that was opened inside Outlook, it will look into the directory the file is currently placed.
And since its inside Outlook, its throws a temp folder somewhere deep inside the user folders.
    Example : <User>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.Outlook\6D3ZBZC2
Some users are confused by this, so it would help alot if someone could help with a way to set an default save directory.

If it could be done it would have to be set from within an Outlook Registry item, not Reader as it is Outlook that should control where files are stored. The truth of the matter is that when a pdf file is downloaded, it order for it to be viewed it must be separated from the email and stored by the computer. Windows whats files like that stored in a temporary directory so they can be deleted as needed. Having attachments that are viewed stored elsewhere  can cause issues of its own.  It is better to train PC users on how Windows behaves, rather than trying to change its behavior on an app by app basis.
By the way, the Mac OS's mail program behaves in a similar fashion.

  • Default "Pictures" location.

Is there any way to set the default "Pictures" location on either of my computers to my external?

I want my ibook and mini to be able to share pictures.
That may be just a little more complicated than it sounds. The files in your Pictures folder are owned by your user. Other users don't usually have access to them. (Whether it's users on your own computer or on another.)
You might want to check out this recent Mac OS X Hints story. Now, that story is based on Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger) and I see your profile says you're using Mac OS X 10.3.9 (Panther), but that should just give you an idea of what might be involved to share your Pictures folder between two users on the same computer, let alone two users on two different computers...
Personally, I just use RsyncX to synchronize the two "Pictures" folders on my 12" PowerBook and my Mac mini rather than trying to share them.

  • How to remove the option "Set as default background..." from the right-click menu on a picture, for all users.

Hi! I would like to know if there is any possibility to remove the option "Set as default background..." from the right-click menu on a picture, for all users. I know that's possible to edit userContent.css or userChrome.css, but this concerns only a profile at a time and being in a domain, I would like to set this for all people using Firefox.
Can it be possible to edit a mozilla.cfg file to get the same result?
Thank you in advance for help and tips.

AFAIK then there is no way to do that system wide. You can only do that via userChrome.css or an extension like the Menu Editor per profile .You can install extensions globally, but the user will have to enable them anyway. That is not required for userChrome.css code.

  • How to set the user's Default joboptions directory?

    Hello Experts,
When we installed Acrobat Pro 8.x on our Win XP Pro systems our systems were NOT in a Windows Domain.  At that time the default location for user-created/customized joboptions files was:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings
where <Username> is the name of the LOCAL Windows user.
A few years ago we migrated to a Windows Domain and converted our LOCAL users to domain users and disabled, but did not delete, the LOCAL user's account.  We did not remove the LOCAL user's Documents and Settings directory structure either.
Our users now log into a DOMAIN rather than the LOCAL account.
    As a result of that process the user's Documents and Settings directory structure changed to;
      C:\Documents and Settings\<Username.DOMAINNAME>
where DOMAINNAME is, of course, our Windows Domain Name.
    Now we are beginning to use Acrobat Distiller joboptions and I notice that when Acrobat/Distiller goes to save a user-created/customized joboptions file the default location has remained;
      C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings
which is NOT the user who is logged in
    Acrobat/Distiller should use the Documents and Settings directory of the user who is actually logged in which is;
      C:\Documents and Settings\<Username.DOMAINNAME>\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings
This anomaly has created some confusion and appears to have created a dependency of the old LOCAL user's Documents and Settings directory preventing us from deleting it.
    Question:
How can we force Acrobat/Distiller to use the Documents and Settings directory of the logged in user (eg: the Domain user)?
In other words, how do we set the user's default joboptions directory?
    Pointers/tips/and tricks are most welcome.

    if the user is the one running the program, you can always get the home directory using System.getProperties ("user.home");
If you are trying to get the properties of another user, you could try using setProperties to change the user name first, before getiting the home directory, but it probably won't work because of the security manager. You could read the /etc/passwd file and parse the path out, but once again, the user of the code would have to have appropriate permission.

  • How to set default working directory in iSQL*PLUS

In regular SQL*Plus, one could set the properties attribute of the shortcut icon to a default working directory. Is there a way to set a default for iSQL so that you don't have to reset this each time you log on?

The default path for the "Browse..." (Netscape) or
"Choose" (Opera 6) button for loading scripts????
This would be browser specific - even the button text
is chosen by the browser. I've never tried to rig the
initial path. Maybe it can be done with a shortcut
    to the browser executable?

  • How to set the default duration for still pictures ?

    Hi there,
At the moment, when I drag a still picture from Viewer window to the Canvas window, a default 10-sec duration of the still picture will appear on the timeline.
How do I set this default to 8 seconds ?
I tried looking at User Preference and System Preference but cannot locate them. Maybe I miss them ?
Can someone help me on this, please ?
    Thanks

Also there is a bug in FCE and FCP which affects PAL.
If you set the still for 8 seconds it will come out at 6 seconds and 20 frames.
So if you want a really exact figure you will have to set it longer by maths or trial and error.
Yes Ian, just noticed that there is a bug !
Mine was set to 12 secs & I always got 10 seconds.
    Now I set to 12 secs & I got 8 seconds.
It looks like it is always 2 seconds less from what you set ?
    Thanks

  • Setting a Default Directory in Acrobat

I cannot for the life of me find any way to change the Acrobat default files directory from "My Documents" to a directory of my choosing. Can someone please help me with this??

You should blame MicroSoft in part. That is the default in Windows packages. I do not know how the MAC works. I just opened WORD and it opened to My Documents. It apparently can be changed, but I never tried (probably in the folders tab of options). Many folks have asked for this change in AA over many years and it still works this way.

  • Minor Nit - Default Install Directory in Windows 7

I notice that on installation, the new empty catalog is installed to the user's My Pictures folder.
With Windows 7, the Library feature allows one to have multiple directories for photos (not just My Pictures) in the Pictures library, and allows one to set a default directory for new files to be created/written in. IMHO, LR4 should be cognizant of the Pictures library in Win 7 and default to installing new catalogs, etc. to the default save location in the Pictures library.
    That is all.

Safari is 32-bit. It's run through the Windows-on-Windows-64 machinery on your system. The SafariSetup.exe installer contains a 64-bit version of Bonjour, though (in case the installer gets used on a 64-bit system), so Bonjour will be 64-bit for you, as required.

  • How to Change Default User Directory without changing System Directory

    Hi Everyone,
I need to change default User Directory for my JDeveloper 11.1.1.0.2.
    Default User Directory = C:/JDeveloper/mywork
    Default System Directory = *<JDEV_HOME>/System*
Now I Need to Change it to
My Default User Directory = C:/Monty/JDev11g2/
    But System's Default Dir = *<JDEV_HOME>/System*(Same)
For this i explicitly Set variable ide.user.dir to C:/Monty/JDev11g2/ in JDev.boot file as explained in Installation document.
Working fine but it contains System Folder too. I don't want this.
Any Help to find me separate these both as it works for Single User.

  • Changing the Default Save Directory in Acrobat

I am currently working with multiple systems, some using Acrobat 7.0 and some using 6.0.
Basically, I am wondering if in either of these versions of Acrobat it is possible to change the default save directory to something other than 'My Documents.' Acrobat will remember the last directory I saved to if I have already saved to that location once in a given session, but if I exit the program and then enter it again, it defaults back to 'My Documents' instead of the last place I saved.
Is there a way to set the default directory in 6.0 and/or 7.0?

No. Put a short cut to where you want to go in the My Documents folder and you are only 1 step away.

  • Adobe Reader will not set as default application for .pdf in windows 8.1 pro x64

When I install adobe reader the icon/app changes from windows reader to Pick an app, I choose change and select adobe reader, the icons on my desktop flicker but nothing actually changes.Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Default Programs\Set Program Associations, Select adobe reader, Choose defaults for this program, PDF is unticked so I tick it and choose save, go back in and it is unticked again??? Right click on a pdf file, choose open with, choose default program, use this app for all .pdf files is ticked, select adobe...Still nothing changes, stays on pick an app. I uninstall adobe reader then the pdf icon changes to and default opens with windows reader again. Reinstall adobe reader and back to the same thing. ???? I am a power user, build configure computers and subsequent software, started with DOS 6.0, learned unix/linux/networking concepts/networking security/server versions of windows/active directory. The only solution I could think of was to hack the registry which I looked for but could not find. I am running 8.1 pro x64, I just discovered that windows reader (which I cant uninstall) has the same problem when adobe reader is installed. Windows will not allow either one to be set as default while they co-exist.

After an extended session with chat only to be told that since Adobe Reader was free they could not help me :-(... I figured it out myself.
I opened a administrator: command prompt window and typed "regedit"  Through extensive searching and stumbled on this key located at... HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2274202122-2588692262-2244265822-1001_Classes\.pdf\OpenWithProgids  The S-1-5-21...1001... is my current logged on user, your value may differ slightly. Typically the builtin disabled administrator account is 1000 and when you install windows and create a user account "John Doe" it will have administrator priveleges and be auto numbered 1001, every user account created therafter will increase by 1 ie...1002, 1003, 1004 etc. even if you remove (delete) an account and re-create it you wont get the same number, the system will use the next number in sequence. The old one will have been trashed never to be used again. Again here is the key...
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2274202122-2588692262-2244265822-1001_Classes\.pdf\OpenWithProgids I deleted this key under (default) on the right side...
    Name                                                                       Type                                           Data
    (Default)                                                                   REG_SZ                                    (value not set)
AppX86746z2101ayy2ygv3g96e4eqdf8r99j            REG_NONE                              (zero-length binary value)  ---- This is the key to delete!!!
Personally I selected computer on the left side and the went to file/export then chose a file name [01 29 2014 regbackup.reg] and location. Then I selected "OpenWithProgids" and did the same thing,[pdf.reg] this saves a backup of the entire regestry and the key you are about to delete as a safety net. When you are done all you have to do is go to a pdf file, right click and choose open with...Adobe Reader - the box always use this app should already be checked.
I did this and it works yet because improper regestry modification can crash your system I am compelled to warn... Use at your own risk. If you are uncomfortable modifying your registry I would suggest consulting with someone qualified and has resources to do offline registry modifications/restorations which makes it VERY important to do the computer export registry backup.
