Set up email alias

How do I add an email alias to my POP Verizon email account?

Hi Jeff
No, I'm not using virtual main hosting. Re adding additional short names, that's what I thought originally - however, I can't (a) seem to add additional short names to a user account and (b) it appears that short names can't be in the desired format (ie: firstname.lastname).
According to the mail admin guide, I can create email aliases in 1 of 2 ways: Mac OS X server-style & postfix-style. Only problem with this is that "mail service's Sieve functionality doesn't understand Mac OS X Server-style aliases and will not filter mail based on ...".
I believe this is why I can successfully send/receive mail using [email protected], but not receive mail sent to the alias I created in the 'info' screen of WGM (in the desired format)???
Any other ideas?????

  • EPrint via email alias

    Hi,
ePrint is working on my Photosmart printer when I send a document to its native email address.
Since this email address is random name, I have set an email alias to be able to use a more practical email address, for example [email protected]
However, if I send an email to the alias, it is not printed and ePrint throws a "too many addressees in e-mail". I understand the ePrint limitation of just one addressee (use BCC for others), but in this case it is just one addressee!
    Any suggestion are welcome!

  • Multiple email alias's

I want to set up email alias's, which is simple enough to do, as long as they all have the same @ ending. However, they don't, and though I can set up the alternative email address... it won't let me send from it. Does this make any sense to anyone, and can anyone help.
the error message is as follows:
++Sending the message content to the server failed.++
++Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be delivered.++

    Hi abi71,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
For each email address you want to send from in Mail you must set up as a separate account under Mail. Presumably each alias is a valid email address.

  • How do i set up an alias email address in entourage?

How do I set up an alias .mac email address in entourage? I set it up the same as my master .mac email address, but it is not working.

There are a couple of ways of doing this. The easiest is probably to just add the secondary address in the Mail.app -> Preferences -> Accounts field.
The specifics of which vary a little based on the OS/Mail.app version you're running, but in Yosemite:
    Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts
Select your iCloud account and change the 'Alias' popup menu from your iCloud address to 'custom'.
Doing this enables the 'Email Address' field. In this field you can enter the email address you want to appear in your From header.
If you want to use multiple addresses (e.g. your iCloud address and your other alias), you can enter a comma-separated list of addresses - e.g. '[email protected], [email protected]' and then you'll have a pop-up menu on each new message where you can choose the address to use for each outgoing message. You can also set the default address in Preferences -> Composing -> Send new messages from:

  • How to convert a new Apple ID into a iCloud email alias?

    Howdy,
Just a few weeks ago, I created a second MobleMe accout for my daugher via my MobleMe family plan. The reason was that her orignal MobleMe email ([email protected]) address seemed a bit childish to her and she wanted a new "more professional" sounding address. At first I tried to create an email alias, but discovered that new alias creation had been stopped due to the looming iCloud launch, so I used one of my unused family plan accounts to create "[email protected]." Took some fooling around to get mail on her macbook to send & receive from both... but it worked and I was once again, the family IT hero!
Okay, now that iCloud has launched, and we are converting over to iCloud I wondered what to do about my daughters two email addresses. I looked around for information about just converting both xxxx & yyyy to iCloud, so my daughter could receive both emails from the same iMac mail account... but I can find nothing about that option on the inter tubes so I figured that option was unsupported.
Next I wondered if email aliases had come back, and they have! Cool, just convert [email protected] to an alias of [email protected]... but alias, you can't delete an Apple ID and I assume that I won't be able to create [email protected] as an alias as it is it's one Apple ID (otherwise, there would be a really big security hole in iCloud email ;).
What to do? Well, I can think of the following options, in order of what would be most user friendly to my daughter:
    1. Convert [email protected] to an alias of [email protected]. This would be nice because I could simplify my daughters email set up (just one account, not two). Trouble is, I don't know how to do this and/or it just can't be done.
    2. Create a new alias for [email protected]; [email protected]. Kind of junky as "yyyy" is pretty obvious (if you knew what it was), and [email protected] is already "out there."
    3. Create two accounts on my daughters macbook; one for [email protected] and the other for [email protected]. This ***** because she'd have to logout/login to check mail on both accounts.
So... their must be a simpler way, right Apple? If so, please advise!

  • How to add Distribution Group email alias from CSV in office 365

    Hello Forum!
Hope someone can help me troubleshoot this or even let me know if its not possible. But, I used powershell to import distribution groups and set primary emails in Office 365. That worked great, but we have two domains and i would like to add an email alias
to all my DGs for the other domain.
This was my best attempt and its not going well:
    Import-CSV "C:\distributionlists.csv" | foreach {Set-DistributionGroup "$_.Name" -EmailAddresses SMTP:$_.PrimarySmtpAddress,$SecondarySmtpAddress}
$_.Name is the column name for my DGs. IE: DL-IT
$_.PrimarySmtpAddress is the column name for my primary email. IE: [email protected]
$_.SecondarySmtpAddress is the column name for my email alias. IE: [email protected]

    Hi,
Based on my understanding, the below code should work when your manually run it:
    Set-DistributionGroup "DL-accounting"
    -EmailAddresses SMTP:<Primary Email>,<Alias Email>
If all those distribution groups have been already created, then use set-distributiongroup command should work. How about first new those distribution group, and then run foreach block to do the loop.

  • How do you create an email alias using iOS device

I want to create an email alias, I have a MacBook and an iPhone but I can't figure out how to do it on either. As far as I can tell the only way I have been able to access the icloud mail preferences is through icloud.com however you can't access icloud.com on any iOS device. I've been trying to figure it out all day so would really appreciate any help

You should be able to access it from Safari on your MacBook, or another computer.
You can only access it on an iOS device if you use an altrenative browser like iCabMobile Web Browser, and set the Browser ID in the app's settings to Safari (Mac).

  • Everytime I try to setup and email alias I get a server error. What gives?

I've been trying for days to set up and email alias and this is what I get. Am I doing something wrong or is iCloud having issues?

Same thing here. Called Apple 3 times. They keep saying they have server problems and that I am not the only one affected by this.

  • Email Alias in Exchange from OIM

    Hello All,
Can we provision Email Alias in Exchange from OIM.
In Exchange a user can have multiple email aliases.
When we update Email alias field in Exchange process form in OIM , would it update the alias or would it keep the old one and add new alias.
    Has any one tried this.
Do we expect any changes in newer version of Exchange connector.
    Thanks,

There are going to be a few issues. The exchange connector is probably built to handle a set amount email aliases. I would assume this is a limited list. If you look at the connector and the adapters, it will maybe give you an understanding of how it works.
However, if you want to use multiple aliases, I am going to assume you are going to have to write custom code. The reason i say this is because the attribute is a multi value attribute on the user profile. It's not like AD Groups where the user is actually added to the group, and not the group onto the user. So you will need to either create a child table, or some sort of delimited field and parse it for all the entries. If you do it as a child table, when you add the value, you'll need to use the ldap libraries to add the additional multi attribute value. On delete, or rename, you'll need to search for the instance of the multi values and then find the one you are looking for and remove that entry, or remove and then readd with the new value.
I'm going to say this is not OOTB unless you use the existing functionality of the connector and the capabilities it come with. Remember though that connectors are really just a framework to try and provide as much common functionality across the board to all clients who plan to use the connector. In my experience, 100% of the time there is some sort of modification required. Customization and creation of ldap libraries for client usage almost are always developed to provide these additional tasks.

  • Ical sending emails from old email alias that was deleted, or from another email address

iCal, when I send a meeting invite is sending from an email alias that I no longer have. It was originally sending from one of my other email accounts, however, after deleting that account from my mac, iphone, ipad it now send from an email alias that no longer exists.
    Information that could help.
    1. I had DotMac and then MobileMe and now iCloud
    2. I had 5 email aliases when on MobileMe
    3. I deleted three of them after arriving to iCloud
    Things I have done
    1. Delted the other email account that it was sedning from.
    2. Deleted my iCloud accout on the computer, and then set it up again
    3. Deleted "My Address Book Card" and setup a new one for myself and indicated that was my card
    4. Deleted ALL but one email address on that card
    5. I am running latest updates of MacOS and all updates on iOS devices
HELP... it looks very unprofessional to be getting email addressses from an account that they cannot repond to.
    Where it Gets Weird
    1. They can accept the meeting invite and it wll record it as accepted
    2. But they cannot contact me at that email alias.

I have the same problem -- the ical event alert notification goes to an email address from a previous correspondent.  I have deleted his name from previous recipients, I have deleted his card from contacts, I have checked all the places where I am the default email and that appears okay.  BUT STILL his email shows up in ical's alert notification.  HELP!

  • Can't default to email alias when sending mail

I set up an email alias on iCloud.  On my Mac when I send a new email the "sent from" email defaults to the alias but I can't figure out how to do that on my iPad or iPhone.  I can manually change the sent from email while composing but that's a pain.  Does anyone know how to default to an alias when composing new emails?

Eventually solved the problem by changing the password for the two email logins and recreating the accounts in Sparrow.

  • Add a custom email alias to all my mail enabled users

    Hey Everyone,
I'm trying to add an email alias to all my mail enabled users using powershell.
I'm in a dir sync setup can I do something like the below.Of course the smtp:$($a.lname)_$($[email protected] isn't working for me. It was posted online as "$a.alias", which isn't what I need. I need
to add [email protected] to every mailbox.A crappy voice mail system software that can't alter it's send To address format template is driving this change.  I don't want to use an address policy, due to it
changing the default reply in the process.
if someone can help me get this script working that would be fantastic.
    $users = Get-Mailuser
    foreach ($a in $users) {$a.emailaddresses.Add("smtp:$($a.lname)_$($[email protected]")}
    $users | %{Set-Mailuser $_.Identity -EmailAddresses $_.EmailAddresses}
    Suleman

I don't have an Exchange environment to test this. I just fxed up the syntax. Does this work:
    $users = Get-Mailuser
    foreach ($user in $users) {
    $user.emailaddresses.Add("smtp:$($user.lname)_$($user.fname)@domain.ca")
    $users | % { Set-Mailuser $_.Identity -EmailAddresses $_.EmailAddresses }

  • Want to use email alias (forwarded) as the reply email instead of the default email Using Outlook 2007 with Google apps

I have one main email address using Google apps and 3 alias email addresses within the same domain (I believe Google calls these accounts group accounts).  I would like my replies to appear to come from the alias whenever an email is received through
it.  Is there a setting to do this automatically. Currently I use 3 separate accounts on Outlook where everything is filled as if the alias account is a real account except for the username and password - where I fill it out with my real email login info.
I then had to disable these 3 accounts from the RECEIVE group (under send/receive) and make sure I use the "account" drop down when I'm replying and pick the correct the email alias.  The problem is that I usually forget to pick one or pick
the wrong one.  If there a setting that would do this automatically it would be a life saver and probably a job saver too :-).  I would even take an Outlook Addin...if there is such a thing.

    Diane:
This worked perfectly for me, I tend to read most of my mail on the default reading pane (as opposed to opening the email completely -which doesn't work).  I Actually created three different Macros for REPLY, REPLY ALL, and FORWARD and replaced the
buttons on the ribbon so I wouldn't click them by mistake.  The only change (besides the obvious changes) I added a line "strRecip = LCase(strRecip)" because I noticed the Macro would not work correctly if the person used uppercase when typing the email
address...for example if they typed it as [email protected] it would work fine but if they typed it as [email protected] or [email protected]  or even the domain itself it would NOT work.  With this addition everything works! I'll post this on the
bottom of the macro link too...I would have typed it there directly but you probably don't visit that page very often and I wanted to make sure you got my response.

  • How to send from an email alias in Outlook?

    Hi,
We have created several email alias for some partner teams here in the UK but shared with Romania (i.e [email protected]). We have approval for them to work externally and this seems to be working fine.
The question is how to send from this alias in beehive/outlook? In Thunderbird it is possible to do this via Tools > Account Settings > Manage Identities
Have briefly searched these forums but cannot find anything so any suggestions appreciated.
    Regards,
    Rich W.

    Rich,
If this is a generic account then it should have a login to the system involved and Thunderbird allows the identity swap on the fly - To get Outlook to do this you would have to set up a new Profile in the Windows Mail app in the control panel and then close Outlook and re-open it with the new profile. Outlook unfortunately has no simultaneous access to different accounts - it is a single stream app (Microsoft decided on this approach, not us, so we have no control).
Sorry, I can't be more help.
