  • Facetime on multiple devices with same Apple ID?

Hi...we have an iPad 1, iPhone 4S, iPod touch from 2010 and new iPod Touch yesterday.
I have not set up the new iPod Touch yet...but all the other devices are using the same Apple ID so I can buy apps and allow all my devices to get the apps installed for free.  Great.
How can I set up my new iPod Touch to use the same Apple ID and also do Facetime?  If I use the same Apple ID I would think that my other devices would start to ring when I try to Facetime.  No?
If you know how to do this, can you please reply and give exact steps?
    Thanks so much in advance.
    -Eric

@dutra - Your suggestion worked like a charm. I have two options setup under my daughter's name in Facetime: Touch and iPAd. All I need to do is choose which I want to call. Easy-peasy.
@jeffreyfromorillia - This advice may be too late... But, register each device using your ID, as you should. Once this is complete do the following:
1 - Go to SETTINGS on device A
    2 - Choose FACETIME
          - here you'll see your ID in the account field -- ignore it/leave it there.
         - below you'll see the email field, enter your daughter's email addy (you don't have to worry about the "+XXX"      unless she has more than once device because it applies only to the multiple device scenario)
         - IF you have used your email addy in the email field, click on Add Another Email and enter daughter's addy      here, then go back and choose your email addy and click remove
You are good to go. Repeat same steps for your stepdaughter's device.
If either girl has multiple devices you want to Facetime, follow steps 1 and 2, and in the email field click on Add Another Email and enter - [email protected] - then go back and delete orignal email entered. Do same for second device - [email protected], remembering to delete orginal email here, too.
On your device go to Facetime and edit contact - it prolly shows HOME / WORK / OTHER, click on it and choose CUSTOM, name it iPod, then enter the NEW email "[email protected]" and do same for second device, customizing the field to read iPad, or whatever you choose... Now you should have two options to choose from for contacting Girl 1. Repeat for Girl 2.
Hope this works for you, it worked out splendidly for me.
    Cheers.

  • Please can someone tell me how to set up FaceTime between 3 devices all using the same apple ID ( 2 iPads and a iPhone)????, Please can someone tell me how to set up FaceTime between 3 devices all using the same apple ID ( 2 iPads and a iPhone)????

I am trying to set up FaceTime on all my apple devices so I can FaceTime each device but all 3 devices are using the same apple Id and I have no idea how to sort this???

Facetime only works with two devices at a time. You can have the same Apple ID, but the two devices can't have the same email address. Get a new gmail account. Normally you use wifi for connection, however, with iOS 6 and an iPad 3 you can use cellular.

I saw one post where a user said dust got inside the small microphone hole. Using a vacuum cleaner removed the dust and restored the audio.

  • How do I set up imessage across multiple devices

I am trying to link my phone mobile number and my apple ID to the same imessage account, so I can text across multiple devices.

In addition to Amy's comment, set the Caller ID on your phone to the same email address that is associated with your apple ID (and which should be used on iMessage on your other devices).  This way the messages will stay synced across all devices.

  • FaceTime with Multiple devices question...

If I have FaceTime on my Mac Book Pro, iPhone and iPad and someone makes a FaceTime call to me, can I take the call on any of those devices? If they are all in front of me can I choose what device I want to take the call on?

    iPhones: No
Macs, iPods touch (4Gen), and iPads: Yes
In order to be able to answer a call on multiple devices, each device must have identical FaceTime "Caller iD" addresses. iPhones identifiers are unique, not identical, so each FaceTime call to an iPhone is unique to that one device.
Because iPhone uses its unique phone number as its address while your other devices use working email addresses (Macs and iPods cannot have a "phone number"), iPhones cannot be addressed along with any other devices. Nobody but the one iPhone will receive a FaceTime invitation made to its unique number.
You can use identical information on as many Macs, iPods touch (4Gen), and iPads as you like. A FaceTime invitation to that "Caller iD" can be answered on any of them that are powered up and configured to have FaceTime on and working.
If you want to be able to call from one of your Macs, iPods touch (4Gen), and iPads to another, the two devices must have different "Caller iD". Otherwise, it would be like trying to call one extension telephone from another on the same line. It does not work.
If they are all in front of me can I choose what device I want to take the call on?
    Yes.

  • FaceTime on multiple devices w/ 1 Apple ID

I have 1 Apple ID, 5 Apple Devices, 2 new Itouches for the kids, but im getting an error saying their email addresses are already in use, which I know is NOT true.  is this a sync issue with Apple ID?

  • Best practice for setting up iCloud with multiple devices using a single AppleID

    Hi there
Me and my wife have an iPhone each, and are looking at getting both of us using iCloud. The problem is that we only use one Apple ID for our music library.
Is getting a separate Apple ID necessary for each device on iCloud, or can multiple devices have seperate settings/photos/music, etc.?

Using different Apple ID for iCloud is not necessary, but in most cases it is recommended.
You can however choose to use separate Apple IDs for iCloud and continue to use the same Apple ID for iTunes, thereby being able to share all your purchases of music, apps and books.

  • Saving separate sets of apps for multiple devices

    Hi,
This has probably been asked before, sorry if redundant.
I have an iPhone and an iPad, my wife has an iPhone. We prefer different apps on pur phones and a different set for the iPad. iTunes recognizes the devices with different names when they are attached, but the app set from the last device attached is still checked.
It's a real pain to have to go through, checking and unchecking each time, just to Sync one or two new items.
Is there a way to "save" your app set for each item so that when you connect a device, it recognizes it AND the last app set you choose for that device?
Probably a real easy solution but darned if I can figure it out.
    Thanks
    Joe

Just tried this with my wifes phone, the last one that was Synced .
Right click? I am using an Apple mouse, not a two button one.
I have been told that you can right or left click with an Apple mouse, didn't work here. No pop up menu like with a two button mouse or when using a Windows computer.
The only Backup option I can see is the choice to Back Up To iCloud or Back Up to This Computer. Is that what you are referring to?
It's currently backed up to iCloud. Does she need to change that to save her selected set of apps?

  • How to manage FaceTime on multiple devices on the same apple ID

So I have an ipad 2 and an iphone 4s. Both are under the same apple ID. When my friends try to FaceTIme me, I only get the call on my ipad. Is there a way to to get the call to go to my phone? Or at least an option to chose which device the call goes to?

  • Manage Facetime on Multiple Devices

I own a Mac Mini, iPad2 and iPhone 4S - each using Facetime with my own individual email address for contact.
When my daughter contacts me from her residence on her MacBookPro via Facetime, it is always my iPhone that receives the Facetime call.
Because she always contacts me at a certain time during the week I have to switch off my iPhone so that the Facetime call is received by my iPad.
If I was on my Mac Mini at the time the Facetime call is being made (with the iPad being left elsewhere in the house) I might possibly miss it because the iPad would 'ring' in preference to the Mac Mini.
Is it possible for the Mac Mini, iPad and iPhone to simultaneously 'ring' when a Facetime call is being recieved.
If that is not possible, how can I ensure that the iPad takes priority in receiving Facetime calls over my other two devices (when I am using the same/identical email contact address)?

  • Facetime across multiple devices

Before the IOS 7.0, I was able to set-up my Facetime so I can be contacted via my mobile phone number for my Iphone and email address for my iPad. When someone facetimed me via my mobile no. only my iphone rang. Now all devices ring when someone rings my mobile phone number. Why?

    Hey angiered18,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like your Phone Number has been linked to your Apple ID for use across all devices. If you do not wish to have your Phone Number linked, see the following article:
iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5538
    Unlink a phone number
To remove a phone number from an Apple ID, sign out of FaceTime and Messages on your iPhone:
    - Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
    - Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
This should remove your phone number from other devices using the same Apple ID with FaceTime and Messages. If the phone number is still available on other devices after you sign out of FaceTime and iMessage on the iPhone, you may need to sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your devices, then sign in to FaceTime and Messages again on devices you want to use.
Note: If you no longer have access to the iPhone that is using the number you want to remove, reset your Apple ID password.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Facetime calling multiple devices

In our house, we have 1 iphone  and 2 new ipods.  We share an apple id but have different facetime email addresses.  Recently, when my son gets a facetime "call" it, it calls all 3 devices.  The person is only using his email address for facetime.  Is there a setting somewhere that I accidently turned on?  Thanks!!!!

There is a setting.  Evidently at some point, the apple id email got added to the facetime settings as an alternate or even primary email.  I was able to remove it from the other devices and all is well

  • Facetime on multiple devices

I have a MacBook Pro, iPhone 4S and iPod Touch. How do I set Facetime up on my phone to only ring when Facetiming my phone number? And have the other 2 only contacted via Facetime with my email address? Does that make sense? lol I was told this is possible but not sure how to do it!

KC7GNM But now, all device rings at the same time, and it seems to take preference on Iphone. I am on the laptop so naturally i answer facetime on my laptop. But my iPhone wont stop ringing. And turning off iPhone will disconnect the facetime call on the laptop as well.
I think its best to separate -- people can always try either contact point if you dont pick up on laptop / phone.

  • FaceTime with Multiple Devices and one Apple ID

What happens with FaceTime when I use the same Apple ID for my IPad and my IPhone 5?  What do I need to do to manage which device receives FaceTime messages?

Create Apple IDs for everyone individually and use that in Settings > Facetime, Settings > Messages, Settings > Game Center but keep the Apple ID used for app and content purchases in Settings > iTunes and App Stores
