How to configure TL-R470T+ load balancer?

The default ip address for managment of this router is 192.168.1.253
HOWEVER this access point does not have DHCP turned on by default so you cant just connect (wired or wireless) and browse to that address!!!!
To get in intially you must assign yourself and address like 192.168.1.5, with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.
You dont have to put in the gateway but this will be 192.168.1.253.
So once you have done this you will be able to browse to 192.168.1.253 to setup the device.
unfortunatley these are usualy in chinese, which i dont speak so i cant help you there.
The default user and password is admin all lower case.
Once you into the device and have learnt chinese, you can then turn on dhcp and you will be assigned ip addresses automagically and can turn your adapter back to dhcp.

Link Load balancing - Data center query

Dear all,
I have a query on link load balancing. My scenario goes like this. The customer has taken web hosting services from two data centers. When an user who is accessing the servcies available in primary data center gets disconnected due to say link failure. Then the services should be available continuosly from the secondary data center. All the services provided by the primary data center should be available now from the secondary data center without any down time. What device i should go for, for doing this link load balancing. After searching a lot in the web, i found this Cisco Global site selector which does the link load balancing between data centers. I want to know whether i have ended up with the right choice? Plz give your valuable suggestions for the correct device i should use for load balancing multiple data center.

That product can be quite good, I believe another company called F5 also makes good stuff in that arena... However, you have to remember that alot of this depends on what application you are doing on these servers. If you're running a service that only hosts static web pages, that's no problem. But, if you're going to be doing ecommerce where it needs to save the users "state" between page loads and such, that gets much more complex and you need to choose the right server software, such as Coldfusion or PHP or whatever to accomodate this too...

I wanted to know your experiences of using ACE for proxy server load balancing.
I want to load balance to a pool of proxy servers. Note: load-balancing should be based on the HTTP URL (i can't use source or dest. ip address) so that
a certain domain always gets "cached/forwarded" to the same proxy server. I don't really want to put matching
criteria in the configuration (such as /a* to S1, /b* to S2, /c* to S3,etc..), but have this hash calculated automatically.
Can the ACE compute its own hash based on the number of "online" proxy servers ? ie. when 4 servers are online, distribute domains between 1,2,3,4 evenly.
Should server 4 fail, recalculate hash so that the load of S4 gets distributed across the other 3 evenly. Also load-balancing domains of S1 ,S2 and S3 should not change if S4 fails.....

It does hash the url and the result takes into account the number of active proxies dynamically.
This command has been designed for this kind of scenario that you describe.

Errors when scheduling scenarios for agents using load balancing

Hi,
I have set up my ODI environment and have successfully manged to:
* run scenarios manually in development repository
* schedule scenarios and run on execution repository with one agent.
However when I try to set up a second agent to load balance the scenarios I get the following error below.
It seems to be a load balancing problem because I can run the scenario's successfully in every other case.
I am running an oracle RAC database. (2 servers, one oracle instance on each). I have set up one ODI agent on each server and I am trying to load balance between these 2 agents.
In topology I have set up 1 logical agent. Physical agent 1 is linked to itself and also to Physical Agent 2 under the load balancing tab.
For my scenario's I have 2 master scenarios (which are the ones scheduled) that call a number of other scenarios in the correct order.
Could anyone assist me please?

Hi,
I'm wondering whether there may be a design flaw in the way our scenario's have been created / are executed.
Currently we have x number of scenarios executed by a x master scenario.
There are also y number of scenarios executed by a y master scenario.
These master scenarios are the ones scheduled against the agent and they call the "sub-scenarios".
We experience the above error when one of the "sub-scenarios" of a master scenario is executed on a different agent to where the master scenario is executed.
Any help greatly appreciated.

here are my questions:
1) how do I configure an additional vip address? e.g. I'd like to configure a vip - 19.10.28.215 to load-balance http traffic to 10.15.15.25 and 10.15.15.26?
2) I presently have a static route in my core router "ip route 10.15.15.0 255.255.255.0 19.10.28.210". (this enables the load-balanced servers to connect to Oracle servers on the Core network). do I need to configure a new route on my core router when I add the additional vip 19.10.28.215?

2/ I would create a redundant-interface and point your static route to this redundant ip address.
you should not use vip address in static route.
VIP address should only be used when you want to reach the vip address not a when you want a direct connection to the real server.

Error in Setting lock for Master Data Load

Hi Team,
I encounter the following error while uploading the Masterdata
"Lock NOT set for: Loading master data attributes
Attributes of characteristic 0BPARTNER are locked by terminated change run 465451241"
I Performed the following steps
1) Checked if any active jobs (change run jobs) running in the system. But no jobs running.
2) RSATTR->infoobject list-> no infoobject found
3)Tried after sometime ,but load continue to fail
Could anyone help to solve the problem

Hi Bala,
Check in SM12 if there are any locks exist with the change run number?
First check if there are any Master data loads running related to it?
Check in the Attribute change run screen if there are any change run steps are running?
Once after checking the above if no locks exist and no master data is running then check the below steps
1. Run RSA1 transaction
2. Tools -> Apply Hierarchy/Attibutes Change(or direct transaction RSATTR)... menu option
3. Click at "Monitor and Start terminated Change Runs" button (at the bottom of the screen)
4. Click "Reset Status" button at Run ID 465451241
NOTE: this is not recommended, to unlock the locks better to wait till the locks get relased.
If still the error message persists then we can use a FM in se37 in serious cases which was not recommended by SAP...
Use RSDDS_AGGR_MOD_CLOSE in se37 and execute--->there give ur failed change run no(465451241) beside I_CNSID and execute...
It releases all the locks by that change run....and continue with your further work/jobs...

I've got a Work Orders Report which I use to Print Production Copies for Operators. This report uses a subreport to pass information about Purchase Orders to the Report and then I use "=[Reports]![WORK ORDERS REPORT]![AssociaterQuery subreport]![SIZE]"
to display the information in text boxes on my main report. The problem is that sometimes customers supply their own raw material and there is no Purchase Order record, this causes "#Error" to be displayed in my text boxes, which can be confusing.
I've got a "Customer Supplied Checkbox" to denote that the customer is supplying their own material. So I'm trying to use an OnLoad event to set these values to an empty string, but I can't quite get it correct. This is what I've
been trying so far, where am I going wrong?

then the text box GETS the information form the control SIZE.
In your case you can better use:

Server Side Load Balancing Testing

Hi,
Can any one tell me about any test case for server side load balancing in an 11.1.0.7 RAC?
I have a 2 nodes RAC with local_listener and remote_listener set properly (for server side load balancing). For testing, i have create a TNS at my client side which points to only one node of RAC (a single ADDRESS entry pointing to node 1 of my RAC). So, from this client, when ever i connect, it always connects me to the node 1 which i have mentioned in the TNS. Does it mean that server side load balancing works in conjunction with client side load balancing only and i should add ADDRESS entry in my TNS for the second node also? If yes, then how can i create a test case to check server side load balancing?

Thanks Rajeysh but i already have seen these documents after "googling" about server side load balancing but these documents don't give my any idea for testing the server side load balancing. My goal is actually testing the following scenario
Creating a TNS entry to connect to a RAC database (with server side load balancing enabled) by using a single ADDRESS line in TNS which points to node1 to connect to service on node 1 (service_name is set to same value on all the nodes).
Now, if i invoke 10 SQLPLUS windows to connect to the RAC database using this TNS, it always connects me to instance 1 running on node 1, where is server side load automatic load balancing? Why new sessions are not being directed to some other instance and why every time i always connect to instance 1?

Best way for HTTP load balancing in OSB

Hi everybody,
We have setup an OSB cluster and we need to load balance HTTP requests across managed servers. Looking for info about load balancing in OSB I found that there are mainly two options: using a hardware load balancer or a software solution like Weblogic HttpClusterServlet. At the moment we have no hardware balancer available so we will have to take the software option. I found some articles about configuring HttpClusterServlet like http://redstack.wordpress.com/2010/12/20/using-weblogic-as-a-load-balancer.
But I have a question about this configuration. If we use a managed server as an HTTP proxy that balances requests between OSB managed servers, what would happen if this server goes down? I think one of the main goals of a clustered deployment is avoiding a single point of failure but with that setup all requests would depend on the availability of the proxy managed server.
Could you recommend us a setup for implementing load balancing in OSB?

Load balancing in a cluster for http requests can be achieved using atleast 4 different ways:
(1)- use a hardware load balancer like F5 BigIP LTM
(2)- use a web server with weblogic plugin to frontend the cluster
(3)- use weblogic with HTTPClusterServlet
(4)- use DNS round robin - this works if you have managed servers running on 2 machines (say mach1, mach2) but on the same port. HTTP clients use hostname 'mach' to access the URL's and the dns does a round robin name resolution of mach to mach 1 and mach2 IP addresses..
All the options except (1) achieve only load balancing and not auto failover on all instances.. Hardware load balancers has the extra feature of probing [ sending periodic pings to the targets] , by which it can detect whether the target resource is alive and if not send the traffic to other nodes which are alive.. this is why hardware load balancers are worth their investment..
other options may work if client is coded to do retrying on failure.. so on 2nd or subsequent attempt, the routing is done to the machine which is alive..
For options (1),(2) and (3), you also need some redundancy of load balancing device ( web server, weblogic or hardware load balancer) to prevent single point of failure.. Hardware load balancers are usually deployed in redundant pairs to achieve this..

CSS 11501 Load Balancing with X-forwarded-for

Hi,
We have a pair of CSS 11501,
Currently it is using source ip for load balancing and 5 servers as backend , however we have users loggin in using http and based on its source IP (ISP PROXY) , it is forwarded to SERVER A.
However, we have a SSL page and when the client switches over to SSL , it is forwarded to SERVER B/C/D/E based on its source IP ( REAL CLIENT IP) .
This will cause the user to be terminated as the 5 servers are independent and not running in a cluster.
Is there any way that we can use the X-Forwarded-For address to load balance so that when users loging , they are sent to SERVER A (Based on X-Forwarded-For Header IP which translate to REAL CLIENT IP).
This way we are able to also send it back to the same server when it uses SSL.
I believe that we should be able to load balance using X-Forwarded-For IP or to rewrite the X-Forwarded-For IP into client source IP

Hi,
Unfortunately CSS does not support X-Forwarded-For, and even if CSS supports that, this wont work if you are not using SSL termination.
One option that you can use here, is using SSL termination, so you can manage the SSL traffic on HTTP on the CSS, in this way you can use the same HTTP content rule which is the one currently working.
In summary, you will have an SSL content rule that will decrypt the traffic, and this one will use the same content rule that already exist for HTTP, in case that the server is the one doing the redirect to SSL, but this is something that requires testing since depending on the redirect behavior we might have a redirect loop, but without details it is kind of hard to confirm that you will face this with this option.
Another option, which is less complex, is to use a portless content rule, so this content rule will match port 443 and 80 at the same time, and using sticky or balance based on source IP, you will get the same result with less config. The downside is the troubleshooting, but in this way you will have what you want.

Here the content rule is not looking for the destination port, it is just looking for the source IP, and HTTP and HTTPS will end all the time on the same server.

we are considering switch based load balancing solution for middle tier. Are there any pointers , reference sites ?
I am aware of sites using Metrics Server for forms server load balancing. We are not planning to use MS.

You need to do following steps (Try first in Test env ;)
1. Login in to Oracle Applications Manager Portal
2. Navigate to AutoConfig section (Site Map->AutoConfig)
Configuration Wizards
Click on "Launch Wizards"
3. Fill in fields as instructed.
(Basically you need to put Vhostname + Apache Port number)
4. Run autoconfig
If you haven't got those wizards:
1. Install Latest OAM patches (It is good idea to be on the latest patches of technology stack of Apps).
2. Or if you cant, you can to try edit Context XML file for each server manually:

We are planning to very large system (6,000 users) and They will use BSP application.
So, We need web load balancing method.
I think We have two choice : L4 switch or SAP Web Dispacther.
Is there any recommendation for web load balancing method ?
Which one is better for large user load balancing ?

Email notifications and load balancing

We are load balancing 2 OMS's. The problem is email notifications have embedded links that have the OMS that sent the notification instead of the virtual hostname set-up for the load balancer. The OMS's have been set-up to use the load balancer per the OEM Advanced Configuration and from an agent/Web console perspective, everything is working fine and using the load balanced hostname. Does anyone know where to modify the email notifications so the links point to the load balanced URL rather then the individual OMS host that sent the notification?

Thanks, but I was actually asking about the links that OEM has in the email content sent out as part of a notification. (So you can click the link in the notification and it takes you to the appropriate spot in the Grid console). I've since heard from Oracle support that modifying these embedded links to use the load balanced hostname (rather than the individual OMS hostname) is not possible and is something they say they're working on for 11g.
