Set up idpod nano on different computer

Ok, how can I set up my IPod nano on a 2nd computer without losing all the information already on the nano? Is this possible? I have it synched to one computer, but we are going to need to have that computer worked on. I have iTunes on the other computer, but I have not hooked up my ipod to it for fear of losing everything.

  • Need to put NANO on different computer

I have a friend that because of the lack of a computer has her Nano registered on my computer and does of her downloads on my computer...She now has her own computer and I am moving so we need to register the NANO on her computer and take it off mine...we realize that she will looose her music and have to start another libary in her computer..(I think we can put her music on CD and then burn it to her computer).. but mainly I need to know how to unregister her nano from me and put it on hers..
    Thank you..

Registering an iPod is only for warranty purposes, it doesn't need registered to connect to another computer. If your friend's iPod is set to update automatically she will get a message when she connects to her own computer asking if she wants to transfer her purchased music to this new one.
She'll also get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if she wants to link to this one and replace all her songs etc. Pressing "Erase and Sync" will erase what's on it and link it to the new library and load any songs that are already on there.
If her iPod is set to update manually she will not be asked to erase and sync, in this mode the iPod is not linked to a single library:

    Managing content manually on iPod

  • Need to set up palm Z22 on different computer

Hi.  I am having serious problems with my pc.  How can I set up my Palm Z22 and all its info into a different computer?
    I appreciate all your help!!
    Post relates to: Palm Z22

Do you see the hot sync icon (circle with red and blue arrows) on the bottom right of your computer screen - right near where the time is displayed?
If it is not there, the hot sync will be disabled and you need to enable the program by opening the HOT SYNC MANAGER. This can be found when you click on Start > Programs/All Programs > Palm OS/Palm One > Hot Sync Manager.
The hot sync manager should then show up on your screen (on the bottom right) and you should be able to sync.
Let us know if this works for you!!
    Good Luck!!

  • Setting up a nano on my computer as a present to be used on another pc

hi, i have bought my dad a 3rd gen nano for fathers day. I want to set it up for him and add some tracks from my itunes library so that he can use it straight away. I have an ipod sync'd to this computer already. If i set this up on my computer can he then use it on his computer and continue to add his own music from his itunes library ( when he gets one set up)????
I don't want to set it up and then him not be able to load music onto it from his own pc????? Please any advice, as sunday is looming ever closer!!!

If you set the iPod to auto sync or to auto sync certain playlists, then it will be tied to your iTunes library. When he plugs it into his library it will tell him the iPod is synced to another library (yours) and does he instead want to sync it to his library. If he says yes, then everything in the iPod not in his library will be removed from the iPod and his library will be synced onto it.
Alternatively, you can set up the iPod for manual syncing and then you can manually add tunes from either library but you don't get the auto syncing. He can always change it later to auto syncing but again, unless he has the tracks you put on it in his library, they will be removed.
For now, I would go ahead and set up the iPod for manual syncing and use your computer to load some stuff on it so he can play with it right away. And just explain to him that on his computer, if he leaves it as manually managed, he can add stuff and still have the stuff you put on there. But if he wants he can switch to auto syncing later, once he gets his iTunes library built up.
    Have fun,
    Patrick

  • Airport Utility for my Airport Extreme needs to be changed to a different computer, because the current computer is down permanently.. How do I do this?  Do I have to reset the Airport Extreme and start from scratch?

The computer (Win XP) on which the Airport Utility has been set up for the past few years is no longer accessible, so I need to set it up on a different computer. Can I do that with my exisitng wireless network, or will I have to set up a new network from scratch, once I have installed Airport Utility on the new machine?

You can install AirPort Utility on either a Mac or PC, but there would be no reason to make any changes to your existing configuration on the AirPort Extreme unless you need to do so.

  • I want to add new songs to my ipod.  When I set it up with itunes years ago I had a different computer that I no longer have.  Now it will not let me add new songs to my ipod shuffle without erasing everything that is already on it.  Help!!!

I want to add new songs to my ipod.  When I set it up with itunes years ago I had a different computer that I no longer have.  Now it will not let me add new songs to my ipod shuffle without erasing everything that is already on it.  Help!!!  Is there any way around this?

Yes, I was aware of this but the phrase "Any items imported from audio CDs or acquired from other sources will not copy from your device to the iTunes library." is what worries me.  Will this eliminate my Notes, Calendar Events, etc or will it apply mostly just to the music?

  • Nano problems restarting on different computer system

I reset my nano, reloaded the disk (did the recover as well) so that everything was wiped out on the nano and the computer. I used to load the nano from a pc now I only have my Powerbook G4. But, I purchased some songs and it won't let me copy them to my nano. It's all reset- even the name of the nano is different.
Can anyone tell me why I can't get songs moved to my nano?
    TIA!

Check the authorisations for PowerBook to play the purchased songs? Sometimes deauthorising and reauthorising will clear a problem like this.: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

  • Two Different Generation IPod Nanos and one Computer

Okay so my boyfriend and I have two different geneeration IPod Nanos and one computer.. does it affect either device's performance ? and is it possible to have itunes setup so that he can have he's music sync to he's Ipod and vice ver sa without having any hassle? .. does this make any sence?

In your case it is most likely a drive letter confusion issue. Take a look at the following article and see if the steps help fix your issue:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • ITunes set up for a new "home computer" on an iPhone set up on a different computer

I recently bought a new MacBook laptop. I downloaded iTunes and want to set it up as my "home computer", but it has already been set up with my old laptop. How to I change the home computer to my new MacBook, without loosing my music, games, data, etc., so that I can download music and things from my new computer. As of right now, iTunes tells me that I have to "erase" everything from my iPhone and "sync" it to the new iTunes on the Mac. I assume that this will cause me to loose all my progress in games on my phone, and I DO NOT want to loose that. Can anyone help me? Thank you!

Copy everything from your old computer to your new one.

  • How do i get a different computer to recognise my ipod that is not the one i originally set it up with

I am trying to connect ipod to a new computer & computer doesnt recognise it - what do I do?

    Try:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    or
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
Note you can only sync with one iTunes library/computer. You can manually manage music and videos among different computer by:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers

  • Set up i tunes matches on a different computer

i have been trying to set up itunes matches on another computer and so far it has taken 12 hours to gather information form the i tunes store. it this normal any advice. i am logged into the itunes store so i know that my password is correct

    Hi,
How much music do you have on this computer?
If there is no music, the process should be quick. Once you sign into iTunes, the match, your library should show the music you have in the cloud.
I suggest you sign out of match and iTunes, reboot your computer. Sign back into iTunes and then add computer to match.

  • Is my nano ruining my computer?

Often when I plug in my nano to my labtop, things seem to run slower, and if I plug in my ipod nano when the computer is starting up, it will freeze and not fully start up. When I plugged my nano into a different computer, the computer got all wack, and no programs would open. Eventually the computer froze. When I unplugged my nano, things went back to normal. I am wondering is my nano ruining my computer? Help me please!

A labtop is a roof over a science experiment room.
A laptop is a computer you can use on your lap.
Try setting the drive letter for the iPod to a different letter.

  • HT202213 my nano and my computer will not share music

I can't get my nano and my computer to share music.  The computer tells me they are synched but none of my new music is transferring to the nano.  Does anyone have an answer?

    Hi sharhop,
If your iPod nano appears to not be syncing with your computer, I recommend checking out this article:

If you are syncing manually, try automatically, or if you are syncing automatically, try manually to see if you get different results.
