What have you tried?
Midi in and out on one midi channel for each unit?
Open Control surface preferences/setup/new and select scan? or install and directly select the units?

  • Adobe Audition 6 and Mackie MCU Pro Control Surface

I have recently opbtained a Mackie MCU Pro Control Surface, for use with Adobe Audition CS6. At first I used it with an HP i7 running Windows 8. It worked like a dream, doing everything that I expected of it. Now, I have plugged it to my Laptop, running Windows 7 Home Premium. Sadly it refuses to respond to any commands in either direction. The PC giives the two-note ackowledgment that the USB is comminucating. However, that's as far as it goes.
Audition on the laptop knows what's connected and all options offer the USB connected device correctly named. Whatever I do, there is no sign of the Mackie MCU Pro waking up. It just seems to sit there, probably thinking it's a 'fridge or a toaster.
Has anyone else used this combination and did it work OK? I'm sure I'm mssing something obvious and there's an 'enable' of some sort. Can anyone offer any thoughts?
Thabk you for your time and help.
    Alan

I have completely reset the Laptop (Packard Bell Easynote) to factory defaults and reinstalled Audition from scratch. It is now exactly the same as that installed on the desktop, except that the Laptop is Windows 7 (64-bit Home Premium) and the Desktop is Windows 8.
I was hopeful that a fresh install of Audition CS6 would set the Mackie Control Surface off and running. Sadly, it is not the case.
    So:
With precisely the same software (same source and same S/N) the Mackie worlks correctly with the Desktop but doesn't work at all with the laptop.
Just for the record, when plugging the USB from the Mackie to the laptop, it produces the usual two-tone acknowledgement that it is seeing something it recognises, but that is as far as it goes.
I'm now at a loss. Does anyone have any further thoughts?
    Many thanks,
    Alan

  • Its my first time to use mack book pro and i try to open quick timer and also i have problem in watching movies

i have macbook pro and can not watch movie

I'm afraid that what you are trying to open is the format that Quick Time doesn't support. You can install some plugin apps as mentioned above. Or just install some other 3rd party free media player to replace QT, such as Macgo free Mac media player, VLC.
    Notice:
VLC does not support playback of commercial Blu-ray discs with copy protection. Those require decryption keys, which only a commercial player can provide.

  • HT201250 Time Machine migrate to a new Macbook Pro and keeping Logic plugins

So, I'm getting a new macbook pro (the latest 15" with the highest spec) and I'm looking to transfer everything using Time Machine, so that it's as if I'm still using the same machine. I use Logic 9 and I have hundreds of expensive plugins and I want to be sure that they will transfer across and I won't need to buy any of them again. I appreciate that some may have compatabiity issues, but that aside, will everything transfer as if I'm using the same machine and it will all be exactly the same?

    Hello there, micchaelfrombarnes.
As per the article you were referred to us from, Time Machine should be able to restore your new MacBook  to be just like your current one:
Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427
Time Machine automatically backs up your entire Mac, including system files, applications, accounts, preferences, email messages, music, photos, movies, and documents.
    Additionally:
Migrating a Time Machine backup to a new Mac
When you get a new Mac, you can transfer all of your applications, files, settings, and other information from a Time Machine backup you've already made. When you start up your new Mac for the first time, the Setup Assistant asks you if you would like to restore from backup. If you've already set up your new Mac, you can use theMigration Assistant (located in Applications/Utilities) to do the same thing.
After Migration Assistant completes the transfer and you select your existing Time Machine backup drive, you will be prompted with "Inherit Backup History". Once selected you will be able to continue to use your existing Time Machine backup on your new Mac.
For a more detailed instruction on how to migrate the data from your Time Machine backup, refer to this article:

  • Anyone planning on getting a MacBook Pro and running Logic 7.2?

Hey everyone, I am a amature home artist and I have been using Logic pro for about 1.5 years (basically when it came out). In that time I used logic on a iMac G4, and iMac G5, and Powerbook G4 and an iBook G4. I have struggled back and forth wanting to work on a mobile rig that I can have anywheres in my home o do work on but was waiting for a powerful enough powerbook.
I am jumping into this thing sort of blind ...I currently have an iBook G4 and JUST sold my iMac G5 before the pricedrops (to get ready and unload before it devalued ...I got 1500 for it :)).
So here I am working on an iBook until I know the MacBook Pro is stable at which time I plan to pick one up and dump the iBook as well (sort of consolidate the G5 and iBook into a macbook).
I use an external firewire drive / Motu and Presonus interface / and basically lay down single tracks at a time.
I am hoping the MacBook Pro with 1-2GB of memory will be a dream come true. Anyone else going this route? What are your thoughts on the macbook specs and the idea as a whole.

I had sort of made up my mind that I will get one (baring major issues) this spring some time. Once the first run comes out and I see people are up and running ok.
For me, I keep my logic use limited to what is included in logic and then Jam Packs so I am probably by no means pushing the limits.
Its hard because I know so many have been waiting for a powerful jump in PowerBooks for so long. On a lighter note a buddy recently bought a G4 PB in the fall and it locks up all the time ...he had the logic board replaced and wiped the machine several times ...now its out again for service and probably on ebay when it comes back. Guess it doesnt get much worse than that.
Anyways, once I know people are up and running ok I think I will be set for my modest logic needs.
This transition stings because is new hardware and software all at once = greater potential for problems.

  • MacBook Pro and Current Logic Pro Version

Because of Apple's secrecy with releases I bought a brand new Powerbook G4 (1.67MGHZ) about a month ago. This morning I go online and see the new MacBook Pros. Anyone have any thoughts about the worthiness of trying to snag one of these new Intel based Macbooks. I use my Powerbook and Logic Pro professionly as my main rig and need everything (Logic, Absynth, Battery, Reason, Recycle, interfaces, etc.) to work properly now and not in 6 months.
    Thanks in advance,
    Markoman
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Revolutionary changes in the Mac platform come along every five years or so (the switch from 68K to Power PC, the switch from System 8 and 9 to Mac OS X, etc.)
The general trend is that when the new wave arrives, it takes six months to a year for all the third-party high end esoteric applications and hardware (like audio and music equipment) to be updated to become fully compatible.
If I were you I would buckle down and get to composing and recording a lot of music with the PowerBook you just bought, and make it pay for itself. It will do today what you bought it to do a month ago, and I hope you were happy with its capabilities when you bought it.
Then think about a MacBook Pro when summer rolls around--assuming the particular tools you are fond of using are Mac on Intel-native by then.
The "early adopters" who run out to get the first MacBook Pros will undoubtedly face some frustration when some components of their music-making system aren't quite ready to run on the new hardware. This is the price that early adopters always must pay.
My general sense, though, is that the G4/G5 to Intel migration is going to go more smoothly than the one from Mac OS 9 to Mac OS X. It looks like Apple, Intel and the software developers got a good head start and are on top of things this time.

  • How do you set up a MacBook Pro and a PC with one Airport Express?

I have a MacBook and my roommate has a PC and we're trying to set up my new Airport Express at our college so we can hook up our computers and printers to it. I had it so that my laptop worked fine, but hers would "connect" and not really have any internet connection at all. Class starts on Thursday, so help would be kindly appreciated!

I'm a great believer in the KISS principle.
Configuration is simple if you start from a factory default condition.  Connect the Airport to AC power and finally to the Internet modem (or modem/router).  Open Airport Utility on your Mac or other computer and accept all of the recommendations.  After confirming that it works, insert your desired administrative and WiFi passwords.
Do not expect the Airport to respond instantly to the configuration commands.  BE PATIENT!

  • Final Cut Pro and New Logic Board

I just got back my 2.4 ghz IMAC from the Apple Store, where they replaced the logic board. Before this replacement, I was able to capture via firewire into Final Cut. Now the programs stalls when opening the capture window. Can anyone help me try to solve this problem.
    Thanks

well if you decide to do a clean install it goes like this:
Backup all your data, everything will be erased (don't forget bookmarks, pop3 emails, FTP passwords etc) and de-authorize (or whatever they call it) Adobe Creative Suite if you have it.
Boot from the OS dvd (hold down "c" key on startup {or option will work too})
    choose clean install
    Then run software update.
Then install FCS, then run updates for that.
After you get a nice, clean well running system, clone it (search the forum for "clone") with Carbon Copy Cloner, Net Restore, SuperDuper etc. You can then re-image your system in minutes, instead of a few hours.

  • I recently applied software updates for Mountain Lion (10.8.1) and  9.1.8 to Logic Pro and now Logic Pro is not operating correctly. Has anyone else experienced this same problem. (Mac Pro Desktop, Mountain Lion).

    Need some help.

Thanks. I added the supplemental and it looks like I may be back to normal here. I will have to fully check it out but Logic is opening up correctly and no weirdness so far.

  • AA3/Mackie MPU & MCU Pro/Vista 64 bit

Talked to Mackies tech support today and they where not able to tell me if thier MCU or MCU Pro worked with AA3 under Vista 64 bit. They where not sure if either worked with AA3 under XP 64 bit.
Is anyone using a control surface with AA3 and Vista 64 bit?
    Thanks
    Duff

    To all interested:
The Frontier Designs AlphaTrack will work with AA3 & Vista 64 bit.
The Mackie MCU Pro will also as long as it has the new server pack or e-prom chip.
Frontier sent me info including links to newer drivers and all the setup info I would need.
As for Mackie, I had called them twice. Both times I got a run around, and was told,"It will work fine with XP 64." DOH....Finally the boys at Sweetwater came through. They where able to get past sales and to someone in Engineering.
Wonder which ine I can get the wife to buy me for Christmas?

  • LP X 10.1 not working with MCU Pro control surface

Since installing LPX 10.1 my MCU Pro (firmware version 4.0.2) no longer works with Logic.  Logic is still reporting the existence of a "Logic Control" in the control surfaces list, but doesn't send anything to or receive anything from the controller, and the controller itself remains completely unresponsive.
I've read multiple reports of other MCU Pro owners having the same problem after installing 10.1.  Has anyone found a way around this, or do I just have to wait and hope that Apple will address it to restore the functionality of my studio?
(I'm also running Yosemite 10.1 for an OS, BTW.)

Thanks for the link, although I already knew about that thread.  The solutions listed therein did not help.
However, I MAY have resolved my problem (although I guess only time will tell for certain).  I was running the next-to-latest firmware for the MCU Pro (4.0.2) and assumed that there was unlikely to be anything in the most recent 4.0.3 firmware that would help, since it still predated the release of 10.1.  However, I finally went looking for the 4.0.3 firmware this afternoon, and one of the items in the short list of updates was:
"Fixed soft reset bug that could cause the MCU Pro or XT Pro to freeze when being reset by a DAW application."
That sounded exactly like what I was seeing, even though I'd not seen it happen prior to installing LPX 10.1.  So I managed to get the MCU Pro firmware updated; Logic could send MIDI to it once the MCU Pro was in an update mode rather than trying to act as a control surface, fortunately.  After updating the firmware, selecting for the unit to act as a Logic Control again and then re-adding it to Logic's control surfaces setup, it once again seemed to lock up ... that is, until I then shut down and restarted both it and Logic Pro X.  At that point, it started working again (hallelujah!), and has continued to work normally through a couple of shutdown and restart cycles since.  So for now I am keeping my fingers crossed, and would recommend to any other MCU Pro owners that, if they aren't already running the latest firmware for their MCU Pro, to try doing that upgrade first before they despair.

  • Apple devices will not print to Officejet 6700 including MacBook Pro and iPad

I am trying to help someone set up their MacBook Pro and iPad to be able to wirelessly print to their Officejet 6700. I recently set them up with a new Apple Airport Extreme for their router. The printer connects fine to the wireless network. Everything during the install process for the printer goes well, the MacBook easily sees the printer. The correct driver is installed. They also have a Windows 7 laptop that prints instanteously and has no issues whatsoever.
When I try to print from the Mac, nothing prints. I open the print queue and it shows "Printing - connected to printer..." and nothing ever comes of it. When trying to print from the iPad, it can see the printer and I select it. However, after telling it to print, the dialogue box just says "Connecting to Printer" and it never does - it just times out.
    Things I've tried:
Everything in this article that is related to Macs (10.8).
Resetting the printing system on the Mac.
Resetting the printer to default settings.
Setting the static IP of the printer through the printer settings.
Setting the IP of the printer through the Airport Utility (after changing the printer to automatic).
Rebooting the Mac after each attempt to remove the printer and before adding again.
Using the official HP Officejet 6700 driver.
    Using the Airprint driver.
    Other info:
I can successfully ping the printer's IP address from the MacBook Pro.
I can easily see the web setup page for the printer both through the printer settings and by entering the IP address.
The printer is only about a month old.
They bought this printer because the previous one was having problems printing from all of their devices wirelessly. That was with a router from their previous ISP.
At this point, I'm completely stumped as to why the printer will not print from these Apple devices. We've dealt with every issue that could be causing it: the network, the printer, and the MacBook itself. I've looked online and can see no issues with people not being able to print to a wirelessly connected printer to an Airport Extreme. I've seen some issues when the printer is plugged in via USB to the Airport Extreme, but that is not our setup.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

  • Premiere Pro and control surfaces

    Thank you.

Support is new in CC, but I don't know which specific models are supported.  You might try a Google search.

  • Problem with Fader Banks and Channel in MCU PRO with Logic Pro X

I purchased a Mackie Control Universal Pro earlier this week, and I have talked with Mackie support techs twice and they have not been able to help me. My problem is that everything seems to work well with Logic X talking with the MCU with the exeption that the Fader Banks function will not move left to channels 1-8, they are stuck at channel 9-16, and will move to the right on to 17-24 and so on,  but it doesnt move to 1-8 when the left fader bank motor is pressed.  However when you toggle tany channel 1-8 levers on the computer screen, the corresponding lever on the Mackie goes up and down,  but the reverse does not occur. The Mackie folks say this is a problem with Logic Pro X, not the MCU.  Perhaps they are correct,  because I still have Logic Express on my Mac and when I close Logic X and Open Logic Express the fader banks move perfectly from 1-8, 9-16, and so on as do the tracks.   My computer is update with Mavericks.
I would appreciate any help! I am not a techie, an old guy who used to record on 4 track computers, and want to get away from a mouse control,  but I'm going to take the Mackie MCU back if I cant get this straight,  I've spent a lot of time on this.  Help!

thank you Pete in Denver,  I actually made some progress today, in setting up the control surface of the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support Manual, around page sixteen gave me a partial answer.  I had the Mackie icon first, then the Logic Control,  and it said to drag and drop the preferred icon to the left or first place.  that solved my not being able to access channels 1-8, I was able to press the fader bank left button and - voila!.  so that saved my initial problem,  but I still have some issues in moving faders and banks in existing projects,  some tracks show up lit up in the tan colors others don't,  but that is probably due to the way i would move tracks around once I received tracks on drop box from a friend and created new tracks, and I changed a lot of the order of the tracks.  ANyway.  I did make progress.  Thanks!
