Set up new iPhone -

My current iPhone has always been synced with my home iMac, but since iOS5, I have set it up to sync with iCloud instead.
My new iPhone was delivered at work today and I was wondering whether I need to wait until I get home to set it all up and start using it, or whether I could set it up from my work iMac and get all my contacts, calendars, emails and apps transfered? I am not too bothered about the music on the device as I can re-install this at home.

Well, it seems like I'd missed the point of iCloud a bit... Turns out I only needed to put my sim into my new phone, go through the first few screens and log into iCloud, select 'Restore from iCloud back up', and Bob's your (or in this case my) uncle. All my contacts, Calendars, apps and settings are there instantly, without even needing to connect to any computer. This is by far the easiest switch from one phone to another I've even encountered. Well though Apple! Now off to ask Siri whether he's a happy bunny too today...

  • Does anyone know how to correct an incorrect Apple ID (email) that was entered when setting up new iPhone 4S?

While setting up new iPhone 4S, I mistakenly mistyped my Apple ID (email address) so when I go to app store, that incorrect account is revealed.  Trying to figure out how to change the Apple ID on the iPhone 4S to correct info.  Anyone know how to do this?  Thanks in advance for you help.

It is most unlikely your replacement is anything other than new
Refurbs are recycled through the Apple supplier's Factories
I doubt that there has been time for that process and has already been mentioned early failures
are probably checked out thoroughly before being recycled
In any event you would never know the difference between new and a refurb
I have had  x2 in past and certainly could not
depending on your consuer laws you can probably get your money back
    if you are that concerned

  • Setting up new iphone from a back up and it's trying to sync all apps, this is going over memory capacity.  it's also not bring over any of the music that i had on my old phone, any help greatly appreciated. thanks

    hi,
i'm setting up new iphone from a back up and it's trying to sync all apps, this is going over memory capacity.  it's also not bring over any of the music that i had on my old phone, any help greatly appreciated. thanks

Geesh - all this information and no  one has any clue to this? Not even someone from Apple?
Can someone at least point me in the right direction?

  • Will clicking "set as new iphone" delete my files on itunes?

I got a new phone and want to set my iphone on itunes as "set as new iphone" so that I dont get any "other" glitches so can i set up as new iphone and back up everything from itunes after?

You have two iPhones now right?
The new one if you click set up as new it will just let you start using iTunes without doing anything. After you do that you can unplug the new one and plug the old one in and backup the info to iTunes.
If you still want your contacts and stuff then go to setting and sync your contacts to iCloud or any email that you want. If you do that then all you need to do sign in to that iCloud or email account on the new phone and get the contacts back.
    Hope this helps!

  • What will happen if i set as new iphone?

my brother's iphone is already registered to the laptop. I planned to attach my iphone to his itunes. it was said that if i could set as new iphone. what would possibly happen?

Each device can only sync with one iTunes library - and that content of the iTunes library will sync.
If you decide to change the iTunes library the phone was orginially synced with, it will erase the 'sync' data and re-sync with the new library.
    The phone itself isn't erased.
For example, If I only sync Music, if I change iTunes library, it would erase my Music, and re-sync with the new Music from the new iTunes Library.
    Hope that helps

Disk Utility MAY or MAY NOT help
It depends on a few things.
    1. Is the disk over heating, IF so then you need to wait for it to cool off.
    2. If its a bad cable (using a USB 1.1 cable with a 2.0 drive, broken internally, etc) then you may want to try a new cable.
    3. If its a file system issue then Disk Repair may fix it but if its serious then you may want to use DiskWarrior.
DiskWarrior has saved my drive several times!
I would recommend trying the following in this order.

  • Set up new iPhone 5 with iCloud restore, then iTunes created new library with only content already on phone. How do I find and sync everything in original library?

My daughter got a new iPhone 5 and we set it up using the option to restore her iPhone 4 backup from iCloud. This worked great and everything on the old phone showed up on the new phone. Because we were traveling, we weren't able to sync the iPhone 5 with iTunes at that time.
She purchased new apps and music on the iPhone 5. When we returned home she synced with iTunes, and it seems to have created a new library, with only the content currently on the phone. I don't know if it prompted her to do this on the first sync or not - she doesn't remember.
So in iTunes, the library now only shows the music on the phone. A sync isn't doing much now because when choosing the phone in iTunes and selecting each content type across the top (Apps, Music, Movies, TV Shows) the box is unchecked to sync that content. When I check the box to "Sync Music", iTunes gives a warning:
Are you sure you want to sync music? all existing songs and playlists on the iPhone Becca's iPhone will be replaced with songs and playlists from your iTunes library.
Same goes for apps, except that warning also mentions that the apps and their data will be erased and replaced.
At some point she was also getting a message that this iPhone was associated with another library, but I'm not sure how she had triggered that. She says she canceled out of that. I can see all of the music
How do we get iTunes to see the "old" library of songs, videos and apps without losing the ones she's purchased already on the iPhone? The music files themselves are still on the computer, and include music both purchased from iTunes as well as music ripped from CDs. Thanks for any advice!

  • Setting up new iPhone 4 or trying

I am getting "We are currently experiencing technical difficulites. Please try again later". Is this iTune wide?

When I connect my new iPhone 4 for the first time (via iTunes) will it automatically recognize my backed up iPhone 3GS apps and settings or do I need to set it up as a new phone? Thanks.
I wanted to know the exact same thing when I got my iPhone 4 on the 24 June.
What will happen when you connect your iPhone 4, will be, it will ask if you want to set up has a new device (or words to that affect) or restore from a backup (or words to that affect). You will need to choose the restore from backup option. I done this with my iPhone 4 when I got it and everything went fine
It is vitally important to take a backup of your 3GS just prior to connecting your iPhone 4 to iTunes for the first time, basically connect your 3GS to iTunes, then sync, this will then backup what is on it.
Hope you enjoy the iPhone 4, its a great bit of kit

  • How to set up new iPhone 6

Please help, I've just bought a new iPhone, an iPhone 6 and it's not set up at all. They normally set it up for me in the shop but the store was rammed and I was in a rush so I left. anyone can help me. Never set one up before?

Follow page 15 of the user guide iOS8
Here's how it starts. Create an Apple ID before that, if you don't already have one. This page will guide you through this:
Apple - Support - Apple ID
Activation can be done over a Wi-Fi network or, with iPhone 4s or later, over your carrier’s cellular network (not available in all areas). If neither option is available, you need to connect iPhone to your computer and use iTunes to activate iPhone (see the following section).
Set up and activate iPhone. Turn on iPhone and follow the Setup Assistant.
The Setup Assistant steps you through the process, including:
    Connecting to a Wi-Fi network
Signing in with or creating a free Apple ID (needed for many features, including iCloud, FaceTime, the App Store, the iTunes Store, and more)
    Entering a passcode
Setting up iCloud and iCloud Keychain
Turning on recommended features such as Location Services
    Activating iPhone with your carrier
You can also restore from an iCloud or iTunes backup during setup.
Note: Find My iPhone is turned on when you sign in to iCloud. Activation Lock is engaged to help prevent anyone else from activating your iPhone, even if it is completely restored. Before you sell or give away your iPhone, you should reset it to erase your personal content and turn off Activation Lock. See Sell or give away iPhone on page 176.
Some carriers let you unlock iPhone for use with their network. To see if your carrier offers this option, see support.apple.com/kb/HT1937. Contact your carrier for authorization and setup information. You need to connect iPhone to iTunes to complete the process. Additional fees may apply. For more information, see support.apple.com/kb/HT5014.
    Apple ID
Your Apple ID is the account you use for just about everything you do with Apple, including storing your content in iCloud, downloading apps from the App Store, and buying music, movies, and TV shows from the iTunes Store.
If you already have an Apple ID, use it when you first set up iPhone, and whenever you need to sign in to use an Apple service. If you don’t already have an Apple ID, you can create one whenever you’re asked to sign in. You only need one Apple ID for everything you do with Apple.
    For more information, see appleid.apple.com.

  • Can't set up new iPhone?

So I got a replacement iPhone today from Apple and when I plug it into my iTunes it displays the "Set up your iPhone" screen. I have the option to sync contacts and apps... I've tried a combination of checking/unchecking these options.
When I press "Done", it seems to just freeze. My iPhone does not display sync in progress and iTunes just hangs. Eventually I remove the cable from iPhone then iTunes displays a message that it cannot read/write from the disk or something.
Using iPhone 3GS with iTunes 9.0.2 on Windows 7 x64.
    Any ideas?

There are known BIOS compatibility issues with Win 7 64 bit and 9.0.2..One most commonly known is with Gigabyte boards using Intel Chipsets
Try searching for a bios update for your mainboard and see if that helps...

  • HT201269 Can't set up new iphone 5s wtih AT&T

My itunes seems to think its done syncing to my new iphone but the iphone still says connected to itunes and isn't restarting like the article says it will

Use Manage Apple ID in the link provided. You do not need to create a new Apple ID as the other poster suggesred. Once done you old e-mail wo't be used as an Apple ID anymore.
Do you have music, apps or books bought using the old Apple ID?
Note: Content bought using one Apple ID cannot be merged or transferred to another Apple ID.

  • TS1363 how do i rename my iphone?  when i set it up it set my new iphone up with my daughters name, now i cant get it to recognize my itunes

When initially syncing my new iphone to my computer I was in a hurry and it said "sync as new" or "sync as Ashley's iphone".  I wanted some songs on it and synced to Ashley's.  Now even though I renamed to Jean's iphone when hooked up I cant get any of my stuff.  Under devices I took Ashley's off thinking now it would recoginize mine but no.  Can I rename my device without completely erasing it all and starting over?

That response would work save one detail: This is my work phone so I get meetings and such added via corporate email, etc. Those go by default to my iPhone calendar so I was hoping there was a way to just sync everything that ends up on my iPhone calendar to my Google calendar.
    Thanks for the reply.
