Set up Telstra ADSL T-Gateway or Telstra Gateway Max modem

When you received your Telstra T-Gateway or Telstra Gateway Max, you should have also received a power supply and an ADSL filter.
Step 1
Unplug your phone from the wall socket.
Step 2
Connect the filter to the wall socket.
Step 3
Connect your telephone to the socket labelled 'LOCAL PHONE' on the ADSL filter.
Step 4
Connect the end of the ADSL modem cable to the grey DSL socket on the back of the Telstra T-Gateway or Telstra Gateway Max.
Once you have completed Steps 1 - 4, this is what your set up will look like.
Step 5
Connect one end of the power cable to the gateway and the other end to a power outlet.

  • Setting PPPoE for ADSL, AccessReject?

I've been trying to set up a ADSL connection using rp-pppoe. I've done what an article tells me:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=713267
    which means:
    1. install rp-pppoe
    2. run sudo pppoe-setup
    3. finish the setup
    4. run sudo pppoe-start
but it won't connect. tried the pppd version:
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PP … _with_pppd
    still does not work although
    $ sudo pon
    Plugin rp-pppoe.so loaded.
    RP-PPPoE plugin 3.8p compiled against pppd 2.4.5
I don't know what else to do, so I tried running pppoe-connect (I don't know why I run this thing, but I don't know what else to do, just trial and error). it says
    $ sudo pppoe-connect
    Using interface ppp0
    Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/pts/1
    Remote message: AccessReject Deny Access
    PAP authentication failed
    Connection terminated.
Checked the stuff in /etc/ppp/, pppoe.conf, chap-secrets, pap-secrets seems ok, do it just as the tutorial. /etc/ppp/peers/provider also done just as the tutorial.
So where I get this wrong, or my ISP (university) rejects Linux connection?
Doing fine with Windows. No luck yet with Archlinux and Crunchbang (although in Crunchbang it uses the Gnome network manager, but the result is the same).
*And because the receptionist in the computer room is a student as well, asking them Linux just won't work. They even never seen one.

    Hello Mohamed,
there is a feature called controlled subscriber bandwidth that may fit your needs:
    see
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/bbdsl/configuration/guide/bba_con_sub_bdwth_ps6441_TSD_Products_Configuration_Guide_Chapter.html
it manipulates the ATM traffic parameters on a per user basis
these settings can be done on radius AV:
    example:
The following example shows how to configure RADIUS attributes for a user profile for DBS:
    [email protected] Password = "userpassword1", Service-Type = Outbound
         Service-Type = Outbound,
         Cisco-Avpair = "vpdn:tunnel-id=tunnel33",
         Cisco-Avpair = "vpdn:tunnel-type=l2tp",
         Cisco-Avpair = "vpdn:l2tp-tunnel-password=password2",
         Cisco-Avpair = "vpdn:ip-addresses=172.16.0.0",
         Cisco-Avpair = "atm:peak-cell-rate=155000",
         Cisco-Avpair = "atm:sustainable-cell-rate=155000"
    Hope to help

  • How do I set up a Apple TC with a Verizon FIOS wireless modem model  Actiontec 424wi F series.  Does the wifi in the modem have to be shut off and will it effect the FIOS tv?

How do I set up an Apple TC with a Verizon FIOS wireless modem model MI424wr F.  Does the wifi have to be turned off in the modem and then bridge it to the TC?  Will FIOS tv be effected?

Your first call should be to Verizon support to ask them if you turn off the wireless on the Actiontec router....will it affect any of the features/functions of the FIOS system?
If yes, then it would be best to leave the Actiontec router "as is" and connect the Time Capsule using Ethernet in Bridge Mode as a back up device only (wireless is turned off on the Time Capsule).
If you want to use the dual band (and likely much faster) wireless capability of the Time Capsule, then you should turn off the wireless on the Actiontec device to help prevent wireless interference effects that will likely occur when two wireless routers are in close proximity to each other.
Again, the Time Capsule would be connected to the Actiontec router using an Ethernet connection from one of the LAN <-> ports on the Actiontec router to the WAN port (circle icon) on the Time Capsule. Configure the Time Capsule in Bridge Mode as well in this type of configuration.
Bottom line....what Verizon says will pretty much dictate how you can set up the TIme Capsule.

  • Gateway Host and Gateway Service

    Hi,
How do I find the gateway host and gateway service when I am creating a RFC Destination. I am new R3 so please be as detailed as possible

Hi, well i have a similar problem. I am trying to run the Template Installer after installing NetWeaver2004s.
During the PIPostInstallProcess i am receiving following error while trying to import Execute SWF_XI_BPM_AUTO_CUSTOMIZE:

Well the Host and the Gateway is right, i checked in SMGW. So what might be my problem?!

  • NAC - virtual gateway vs. real gateway

    Hi All,
I don't have too much experience with NAC deployment. I want to go with L3 (because we have central site), OOB (for LAN) and IB (for wireless and VPN). but I don't know whether I should go with real gateway or virtual gateway. I know virtual gateway is easier than real gateway. but technically, which way is more popular and provide better security measures?
any suggestion would be very appreciated.
    thanks
    Alex

If your remote subnets are multiple hops away, RIP would be the option you should use. They both are equally popular, but for L3 subnets which are remote, RIP is the most often used design

  • Exchange Gateway or API Gateway

We're running GroupWise 7.02HP1a on both NetWare and Linux. We're looking to cooperate with an Exchange 2003 system (maybe 2007 with a 2003 intermediary).
Not sure whether to use the Microsoft Gateway with API Gateway on the Novell side, or the Novell Exchange Gateway. Does anyone have experience with both that can comment on which one seems to function better? Is it a toss up and just a matter of preference?
    Thanks for any feedback,
    Ryan

Ahh ok :) Thanks for the response... I'll push for the Novell Exch. Gateway.

  • Compatible services and gateways for Telstra Air

Is my CG3100d-2 paus modem compatible with Telstra Air? (It is not specifically mentioned on the web site)Thanks,Jarvo1

    https://www.telstra.com.au/broadband/telstra-air/how-to-join
    Click on Compatible gateways
It it not shown or listed which means you'd need to pay for an upgraded modem to take part in Telstra Air.

  • How do I set up Airport extreme as a remote with Gateway 2wire as a base

I just switched over to sbcglobal from comcast. Before switching, I had been using an APE as a base station connected with ethernet to my G5 and another APE as a remote. With sbcgobal I got a Gateway 2wire modem. What I would like to know is how do I set up my APE as remote? I need this to be able get my G4 powerbook to connect. I can wireless connect using my G4 a short distance away but if I go to the other end of the house no luck. Thats why I need this remote.
    thanks

Unfortunately, you won't be able to do this as few non-AirPort routers will work with AirPorts in a Wireless Distribution System (WDS).

  • Free Will to Purchase a Samsung S5 mobile at Telstra for any Pre-Paid Telstra customer

Why have Telstra decided not to offer the Samsung S5 mobile as a prepaid phone. I am a very long time customer and think Telstra is behaving like a dictatorship in refusing to allow me to purchase a Samsing S5 mobile outright in their Hornsby NSW store. So now my question for the Telstra community is if I go to a competitor and buy this phone outright as I just simply want to do, will I be able to keep my same number and go back to a Telstra store to have the phone activated and my current number carried over once I purchase a new sim card? Again, I am a very unhappy Telstra customer. Telstra shoujld not be able to make these sorts of decisions about shortlisting and shortchanging the range of phones available to loyal customers wish simply to have a pre paid account.

Telstra do allow outright purchases of phones from Telstra stores, however some stores are franchisees/licensees and may not always follow the company standard... however it is usually only not allowed when they are having issue with stock (for example just after the release of a device while stock levels are limited and demand is high).
Having a look at the store in Westfield Hornsby, that looks like it is a licenced store, so that is disappointing that they will not but it is their loss, however there is a JB Hi-Fi in that same shopping centre listed - JB Hi-Fi are both a Telstra Dealer and a Samsung Partner, so they would be able to sell you the phone outright and arrange a replacement SIM card for you for your Telstra service if needed as well.

  • Would setting router to ADSL or ADSL2 help instabi...

Hi, I get random resyncs with ADSL2+ no matter what noise margin is put on my line, I dont want to be put onto a banded profile again so I want to try and get the disconnections stopped, Previously when I was on LLU I didnt have problems and the line test is completely silent.
If I set my netgear router to connect on ADSL or ADSL2 only instead of ADSL2+ could it help, and which one gives the best stability, ADSL or ADSL2.
    Thanks

The reason why a LLu connection was less trouble is because most if not all LLu providers don;t set the MSR
like BT do .... the maximum stable rate. Nor do they use Bras IP profiling. They use a much less profound version of dynamic line management than BT, and thus lines can rack errors up without undue loading of impulse noise protection, resulting in deep banded profiling .... until impulse is either fixed .... or goes away.
You can try negotiating a bare Adsl2 connection if your router firmware allows it ... although to be honest, the lead will be taken by your associated msan connection.
You'd have to try and see if it worked for you .... but if you're on an average line up to about 45db loop loss
any poor bitloading should be catered for with 21CN's algo ... trouble is it takes a while to get established sometimes, and the way to help it along is cure whatever you can in the home, using quality cables and filtered faceplates, with good segregation for data and power.
Get rid of phone extensions if unused, plug into a master socket etc ....
Try and see if the msan lets your router negotiate the connection ... nowt to lose.
As a rule the higher the frequencies employed ... the more difficult it is to modulate, G.dMT, Adsl2 and Adsl2+
    in that order ....

  • C170 management gateway vs email gateway?

We plan to set up a new C170 (single appliance for entire domain) with email on port 2 and management on port 1.
I noticed that the setup wizard only allows you to enter a single gateway, but management traffic and email traffic are not in the same IP range.
I don't see how the web administration and quarantine interface will be remotely accessible with this setup.
How do you set up different gateways for each port or is there a different workaround?

I opened a TAC case about this issue and the representative advised us to NAT the email port's IP address so they both could use the same gateway.  When this was done, the ESA interface would not allow us to use both data ports with addresses on the same subnet. So, now we have both management and email on the same data data port and the other data port is unused.
This setup allowed us to save this configuration, but I don't think this makes sense because it seems odd to use the same physical data port to access management and quarantine as the email is flowing through.  I didn't think of this while I was on the phone with TAC so I didn't ask at the time, but now I have second thoughts about this design.
I'm not sure if the volume of traffic going through would be an issue that would affect quarantine page and remote management access or not, but if this data port fails either on the device or the switch it's plugged into, both email and remote management access will go down at the same time while we have another data port sitting unused.
Did TAC give the wrong solution?

  • Gateway host and gateway service query

    Hi Friends,
          Happy new year all.
            Im working on <b>sap-siebel</b> integration,in rfc(sm59) destinations -TCP/IP connections ....
I need to give Program and gateway options in sap system.plz let me know where can i find the gateway host and program for this integration.
All inputs will get reward points.
    Regards,
    Lavanya.

    Hi Lavanya,
If you are planning to use the TCP/IP destination on the SAP system in Register mode, then a siebel application has to register at the sap gateway using the <b>Program ID</b> given in the TCP/IP destination on the SAP system.
In the TCP/IP destination the gateway options should contain the gateway host of the sap system and the gateway service. usually the gateway host is the message server itself and the gateway service is "sapgwXX", where XX is the <system_number>.
    Thanks,
    Renjith.
