Set up with stereo system

We are trying to setup our apple tv, and are having trouble because of our stereo system.  When I plug the HDMI into the back of the high def receiver, I get nothing.  When I plug it back into the receiver that the tv, cable, dvd, etc. go through I hear the automatic apple voice say "welcome to apple tv, if you require voiceover press..."
So I think that my setup is more complicated due to the fact that we have a system on a universal remote-- any suggestions?  I'm sure it's something simple!!

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Sorry I don't completely follow, are there two receivers involved here.

  • Most favorable way to set up with new system?

Alright so here are my drives:
    1. Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" SSD (174 GB free of 232GB)
    2. Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM (886GB free of 931GB)
    3. Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM (931GB free of 931GB)
The way I have it setup so far:
    1. Only OS there, benchmark programs, windows updates.
    2. All files, downloads & games.
    3. Not used, was planning on dedicating this drive to recording with shadowplay, big video files for projects.
I am amateur when it comes to editing, mostly dabble in youtube content more of hobby right now than professionally doing it. Just a bit lost on the best way to set up editing; should exported projects be on different drives from where I import media?
If I have editing software on SSD will it reduce its lifetime? When I am working on a project if I import media will it be imported onto the SSD and defy purpose of having it on different drives to begin with?
In short I need advice on where and how I should set up the editing software and the workflow with these drives (non RAID setup).
    Thanks,
PS: I checked FAQ and skimmed tutorials but did not locate or missed information about this issue.

This has been asked many times but the info is a little difficult to find.

  • Setting up a multi-zone stereo system in my home with Airport Express

I'm trying to set up an in-home stereo system using iTunes as my main hub.  I want to play iTunes as well as Pandora and possibly Sirius.  Can I set this up with Airport Express?  Would I control everything through iTunes on my MacBook or an iPad?  How is this all wired if I have some existing external speakers with a receiver in my family room, built-in ceiling speakers in the kitchen, and outdoor external speakers?  I am comparing this to a Sonos system, but the Sonos is not really in my budget.
Also, what is the difference between Airport Express and Airport Extreme?  What would I need for this situation?  Thanks in advance for your help.

    >I want to play iTunes as well as Pandora and possibly Sirius. Can I set this up with AirPort Express?
From iTunes you can stream a single audio source to one or multiple 802.11n AirPort Express Base Stations (AXn), but you cannot stream multiple audio sources to separate AXns. You would need a third-party product, like Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil to stream audio sources other than from iTunes.
    >Would I control everything through iTunes on my MacBook or an iPad?
    You could do either.
    >How is this all wired if I have some existing external speakers with a receiver in my family room, built-in ceiling speakers in the kitchen, and outdoor external speakers?
Of the speakers you mentioned, only the ones connected to the receiver would work directly connected to an AXn. The audio output port on the AXn is a combo 3.5 mm stereo analog/optical digital port. Assuming your receiver accepts either analog or digital audio input, you can feed the output of iTunes or Airfoil from the AXn to the receiver. In turn, the receiver (if configured for whole home stereo) can feed the kitchen and outdoor speakers.
    >Also, what is the difference between AirPort Express and AirPort Extreme?
What's similar: Both are Internet routers that provide wireless. Both provide the ability to share an attached USB printer. What's different: The Extreme has a built-in Ethernet switch. The Extreme supports sharing HDDs and printers together or separately via a USB hub. The Express has a built-in audio circuitry, the Extreme does not.
    >What would I need for this situation?
Only the Express can accomplish providing an audio stream.

  • IPhone 3G Lack of compatibility with Alpine CDE-9852 car stereo system

So I have a Alpine CDE-9852 car stereo system along with the Alpine iPod adapter in my 1994 Toyota Celica and I've come across a little problem ever since I upgraded to iPhone 3G. See, when I had my 2G iPhone and plugged it in via the dock connector, my car's stereo system played what was playing on my iPhone. When I answered phone calls the music stopped and then continued when the call ended. Most importantly, when I was plugged it, my iPhone charged itself. Everything was great!
When I bought my iPhone 3G though, something changed. My system still plays songs from my iPhone, stop when a call comes in, and continues when the call ends, BUT my phone no longer gets charged! I've tried messing around with the phone, but no luck. So I'm assuming there is a compatibility issue, and I realize a firmware from Alpine is highly unlikely, so my question for you all is: Am I out of luck on this or is it possible that something can be done to allow my 3G to charge via the car's ipod adapter? Also, could Apple solve this issue, by adding more compatibility to the next firmware? I would appreciate any feedback and incite on what can/can't be done. I'm planning to write/call Apple and Alpine to try and get to the bottom of this problem. It's just so disappointing that the old phone charged and the new one doesn't. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

So you were right to assume I transposed the numbers, it is the 9857. Thanks for all the valuable info you have given me so far. Now, here is my question, I have an iPod adapter box, that cost me $100. Now I'm not sure what model number this is (I can find out once I go home this weekend), but I can tell you it is an Alpine iPod adapter box. Its what I used to plug in my iPhone for the past year and a half. I bought this back more than 2 years ago though, so I don't know if affects the 2006 compatibility time period, so possibly you could answer that once I get you the model number. So with the 422i, would it replace the ipod adapter I have now, or just change the cable that goes from the adapter to my iPhone? Also, the website talks about it as though it strictly supports iPods, is it compatibable with my iPhone? Also, will I be able to use an phone features with the new cable.
So with the replacement cable you said it will do 5 volt, which is what I need for the iPhone right? I don't have a 120 gb classic, so I'm all set there. As far as connecting my iPhone, playing music from it, and charging it, is this cable my solution?
Also, so the scoche adapter would solve all these issues as well? Including the needed charging area? Finally, do you know if there are any head units out there by alpine or anyone for that matter that would provide me (an iPhone 3G owner) with all the functionality I've been looking for PLUS phone capabilities? I'm not looking to drop an arm and a leg or get a big screen alpine head unit, but something that would broadcast my calls in the car through the system. I realize this might have to include buying a bluetooth unit, but I figure it might be worth it to get all that capability.
Thanks again Jeddix for all your help.

  • I connected my iPod Touch to a stereo system phono input using a cable with stereo jacks (red and white) on one end and that plugs into the iPod's headphone jack.  The problem is that the sound is extremely muffled and bass-heavy, with little treble.

I connected my iPod Touch to a stereo system phono input using a cable with stereo jacks (red and white) on one end and that plugs into the iPod's headphone jack.  The problem is that the sound is extremely muffled and bass-heavy, with little treble.  I have to turn the bass control on the stereo receiver to pratically zero in order for the sound coming through the stereo to be acceptable.  Is there a setting on either the iPod or the stereo that I need to change in order to fix this?

The phono input is for a phonograph.  The iPod does headphne output is not that same as a phongraph output.  Does th stero have an AUX input?  That should be compatible.

  • HT4587 Hi, I want to set up a sound system in a new house using apple equipment. I have few sets of Bose speakers that I would like to utilise, my question is - what do I need to set it up and how do I do it with regards to  AirPlay? Thanks

Hi, new to the forums and apple tbh.
Moving into a new house and want to set up a sound system, thought apple would be the way to go as I have iPads, iPhones, iPod touch and nanos. I also have a few sets of Bose speakers which I would like to incorporate. What I am wondering is, what else do I need to buy to do this? Do I need seperate devices to attach to each speaker? Do I need a new router? And how would I configure it?
Ideally I would like 4 rooms each with their own speakers that could play simultaneously.
    Thanks in advance!!!!

First, please check out the following Apple Support article for details on setting up an AirPort Express Base Station (AX) for iTunes streaming. Note: You will need a separate AX for each set of speakers that you want to stream to. Also, note that you can stream a single audio file to one or more speakers, but you cannot stream separate audio files to different speakers simultaneously.
Second, the Bose speakers you mentioned would need to have an audio input jack, either analog or optical digital to receive the stream from the AX. As you know, Bose makes a number of different speaker/home theatre audio options. If your specific model of speakers do, then it's just a matter to use the appropriate audio cable between the audio port of the AX and the speakers.

  • Best way to set up a new system with RAID?

I'll be buying a new Intel Mac Pro when Leopard comes out (for my office). I can get it with as many drives as fits into the bays (4?). My question is, what's the best way to set up a disk redundancy? I'm assuming I want one of the drives for Time Machine. That leaves 3; what kind of RAID do I want to maximize safety if and when one of the drives dies? I'd also like to optimize disk access time, as a secondary consideration. So, 1) what RAID do I want and how many drives will that take, and 2) how do I set it up? Presumably the thing will arrive all set up with Leopard installed. So, will I have to hose that installation to change the file system to RAID? Any problem with that (is it worth it)? If so, what disk do I boot from to set that up, and what's the right way to do this and get a working system back?
    Mike

Leopard wont be out befor the second half of this year, sofar i cannot tell you what options you are going to have with the new system. Seems like with time machine is going to be a perfect backup for your whole system.
    10.4.x:
Software RAID you can do 0 -1:
To setup a RAID of your system you have to format the drive and setup the RAID type you want from the disk utility.
To have some security i suggest the "mirror" options but you are going to lose some perfomance, depending you want is your main job it mighn't be noticed.
    RAID 5:
This would be the nicest option but you need to buy an additional RAID controller. This is mostly used on servers and not on client computers.

  • Use 'se38' to set variants with long time no-response in production system?

hi,Guys,  When I use 'se38' to set variants with long time no-response in production system?
I think it's none of business with program performance.  Maybe system response delay, But no other program like the same response happened?
    best regards

    Hi,
what's your problem? Didn't get the point.
You have a report, where the maintenance of the selection variant has a long runtime (in production?)
Maybe AT SELECTION screen some checks / helps are executed, which are quite fast in DEV, but access much bigger tables in PROD and need to much time. Such checks should be improved / moved after START-OF-SELECTION.

  • Can one use  the iphone with car  stereo systems as one does an ipod?

My car has a "jack" for mpegs/ipod to interlace with the existing stereo. Is there an accessory that will allow me to use my iphone as one would an ipod with such systems?

    Dewey Cheatum,
Apple doesn't make most of the adapters out there. Instead Apple provides the specifications so that other manufacturer's can make products that are labeled as "Works with iPhone".
I would contact the manufacturer of the car stereo to see if they have one that is certified by them to meet the "Works with iPhone" standard. If the radio came with the car, then the dealer and car manufacturer would be the resource to utilize.
This link described how manufacturer's can get their products labeled as "Made for iPod" or "Works with iPhone".

  • Stereo System compatible with Incredible

I want to get a home stereo system that's compatible with the Incredible. Is there one on the market that has a dock for me to place my Incredible in, and stream music from the device? Been trying to research, but can't find any...

i am not aware of any and unfortunately, the htc inc does not have hdmi. your best bet is to get a stereo with a 3.5mm auxillary input. then you just use an 3.5mm auxillary cord and plug it into the headphone jack on the phone and into the input in the stereo. i do this in my car and it works pretty well.

  • Does anyone know if the iHome stereo IDL100G stereo system comes with a remote control?

    Hi all,
I am new to the site. I hope I am posting this in the correct forum section. I am looking to purchase an iOS 7 compatible stereo system that serves as both dock and charging station WITH a remote that I can use while the devices are charging/playing. I have looked high and low and cannot seem to locate much info at all. I see that Apple.com has the iHome IDL100G which can be used with lightning cable Apple devices but since the update of iOS7 I am unsure if the stereo system would be compatible. Is this stereo 1) MFI-compliant 2)iOS7 compatible 3) able to charge multiple iOS7 devices simultaneous 4) and has an independent remote of the actual iOS device that allows one to control music queues while the devices are charging?
    Thank you in advance.

  • How can I control 4 sets of compact RIO system with my host PC?

    Hi all,
    As the title.
I want to control 4 sets of compact RIO system at the same time.
I have written TCPIP connection for two PC before.
But I never program to connect more than one PC.
If I need to connect more than one PC, should I set the PC's connection port different?
Could you provide me an example?
    Thank you a lot.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi StephenCh...,
you can calculate the transfer rate it depends on your network card. You'll find very good examples on that in the example finder, search for tcp/ip. You can use the server code on each of your cRIOs. Use the client to connect to your servers (cRIO), you only need to change the IP. If you need to connect to all at the same time, then you have to change the client program a bit, so that you are able to build four connections.
Where do you have problems? Did you already see the examples?
