Set up Work Flow Email for Bill of Lading Process

Hello, I am trying to set up work flow for a process that we have within our company. Can anyone direct me in what steps I need to take in order to have the system trigger a automatic email within SAP to a user to approve a delivery transport each time one is saved?
I would like to have work flow triggered at the save of each transportation document. Is this possible?

Check SAP Technical -> Tutorials -> Business WF
There you can get a lot of starting material for WF's.
To trigger your WF u need to find the BO - SWO3 - U can find it here..!!
would like to have work flow triggered at the save of each transportation document
WF Trigger Event should be SAVE in the BO ..!!
To ask for Approval, u should have a User-Decision for the Approver.

    Dear All,
    Currently, we have just got SD implemented. Now, we shall like to go for the Transportaion Module i.e. Order Booking, delivery and the PGI followed by Auto Invoicing. Now, we wants to go for Transportation Module  i.e. Shipment Creation, Shipment cost calculation , Service Order Creation etc. As we are quite new to this. So, we shall like to know the complete work flow & the procedure  for implementing the same. i.e. in what sequence the various transactions to be used for Master / Transaction.
    Please advise further.

    Thanks for the reply. Definitely, i can share the details to the best of my knowledge about the transportation module.
    This module is basically meant for controlling purpose. Our main objective is to control the Transportaion Charges. Vendor Invoice must be cross verified from the sytem as well.
    Our Current Business Process : As per business process, we are having fixed rates per transporter for the type of vehicle and the source - destination combination. So, whenever, we are stock transferring the material from our mfg. plants to various depots, we are using various transporters (some one are specialised for south, some are spl. for east, so on and so forth). On the receipt of the material, receiver i.e. the destination branch , confirms the material receipt.. MIGO / MIRO etc. . We wants to capture the cost of the shipment as per the system and then on the receipt of the bill from transporter, the same must be cross verified.
    On going thru various documents from Web, I could gather the following details :
    1. After making deliveries, we have to make a shipment document. In our case, max. time it shall be an individual Shipment i.e. Tcode VT01N. Other type of shipment be Collective Shipment, which we use very less no. of times.
    2.  We have to prepare Shipment Cost document by using Tcode VI01
    3. We have to create a service Purchase Order By using ME21N.
    In our business scenario, we shall not be using legs concept as our shipments generally used to be from point to point basis.
    Sir, logically, i know our needs.. But getting stuck at a couple of points ... Like where to define various rates per transporter..That's why, i named the subject as the Work  Flow & Procedure for Tpt.Module.
    I shall like to request you to kindly advise further in this regard or kindly let me know if some study material is available from where i can comes to know about the exact work flow of the Transportation Module As Such.
    From Where I Can Get Help on Any Tcode Usage i.e How to use a Tcode and what be its basic functionality.

  • WORK FLOW & PROCEDURE FOR FOR SNP CAPACITY LEVELLING HEURISTICS RUN

    Dear Sir / Madam,
    Currently, we are  taking  only SNP Heuristics Run  and the output viz. planned stock transfer requisitions are being passed to PPDS as such. But now we feel, SNP capacity leveling can play a vital role in getting more fine tuned results from PPDS. So, We wants to start using the SNP Capacity leveling run. We shall like to know the work flow / procedure for taking the SNP capacity level run i.e. what inputs should be properly reviewed before taking the SNP capacity level run and what shall  be its output..? Kindly let us know the procedure / work flow for taking the SNP Capacity Levelling Run.

    Hi Sanjeev,
    as in any other module, correct master will play a key role in getting effective results in capacity levelling. you will need to check the following master data while setting the system for capacity levelling :
    Consistency in BOM in R/3 and PPM/PDS
    Consistency in Routing in R/3 and PPM/PDS - the actual through put on the shop floor should be the same as that in the routing and in the PPM/PDS. unless this is in sync, no amount of levelling can return good results.
    Maintenance of shift - again as present in the shop floor.
    you can provide the dump of the above master data and ask the shop floor engineers to validate the data as it exists in the ssytem. you can do the consistency check between R/3 and APO yourself using queries. Once they have validated this master data and the the actual master data reflects in your system, i think, the job is more than 50 % complete.
    also you need to check the lot sizes, rounding profiles, and period factor, becasue all three combined play a major role in giving good or better results after levelling.
    you may also check at what level you want to run the levelling. whther the bottleneck is at the finished component level, or 2nd level, etc. you may check whther you have discrete manufacuring or REM and if you really want to levelling on REM order.
    then you need to analyse, what is the lengh of horizon you want to run the capacity leveling on. sometimes it makes no sense to run on the entire horizon because if capcities are already overlaoded, you will not achieve the desired results.
    hence depending upon the level of your understanding and comfort of the planner (who will be using this result), the horizon can be increased grdually.
    if you are starting to implemement capcity levelling, you can sumulate runs and show the results to the planner and check if the standard capacity heursitics satisfies their requirement. else you can go for custom requirement.
    you will also have to decide on the stratagies, priorities,etc based on the business requirement.
    i think the above should give some starting direction to implement capcaity levelling in your system.

    Your site is a CCM site which is on a WebBasics plan (This plan does not provide hosted emails on Business Catalyst).
    If you want to create email addresses on this site, you would need to setup your email server elsewhere and configure the MX records on your site to point to that external mail server.
    If you want to use Business Catalyst's hosted email services you would need to use a WebBasics+ or higher siteplan. To upgrade your CCM free site, Access your site's admin area  -> Site Management -> Upgrade Now -> choose the desired site plan and billing frequency -> Add personal and credit card details -> Submit.

    What is LV_MATERIAL? is it a BO container element? or a class element or a just a simple variable?
    Error message is clear, you are trying to evaluate LV_MATERIAL but it does not contain a value.
    This is a custom workflow as it begins with WS9xxxxxxx... what is LV_MATERIAL used for? what are we expecting it to hold? maybe, from event to workflow binding we can pass the value to it.
    Please share the following:
    1) Definition screen shot of LV_MATERIAL
    2) Screen shot of The step where it is first used - from SWDD
    3) Screenshot of Event to Workflow Binding
    4) name of your base Business Object (seen in the triggering events tab of the WF template in PFTC)
    5) What is the corresponding variable for that BO in your workflow container
    6) Screen shot of WF definition from SWDD - please identify the step going in error in that screen shot

    Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking for a software product that would help regulate programmign work flow.     We use Starteam, it lets you assign task to people and provides source control, plus there is an ANT optional tasks for it so you can perform a checkout on a build and be sure your building the most current version.

       There is no standard smartform for bill of lading.
    YOu need to migrate from the standard sapscript to smartform.

      For Purchase Order - SAPFM06P.
    And for future info,
      If you Know the Application and Output Type - Then it is very easy to know the Smartform or the Script Used.
    1.Go to NACE and Check.
      For Ex: PO belong to APP type EF, So click on EF and then click on "Output Type " button.
                  Then all the output types will be displayed.Then select the required and Click on "Processing Functions". Then you can see the Configuration details done for this ouput type like which smartform, which subroutine.
    2.Also, You can check the TNAPR table entries by entring the below information
    Output Type, Message transmission medium, Application.

    If you are using shipments, the Bill of Lading from Shipment document gets the preference.
    You can use SAP standard output type CMR1 - bill of lading.
    ALTR - General ship doc shall also be used in shipment output

    Hi Zarina,
         I hope you are getting this in Event Trace(SWEL). If this is the case then it must the problem with your binding. Check your Event and Workflow Binding once more and also other binding done within the Template.
