Setting a password at the web gallery level

Hi,
I would like to host multiple password-protected albums in my web gallery but don't want to require my viewers to enter a password for each album they visit. Is there some way I can set password protection at the web gallery level and make all albums accessible to those who successfully authenticate?

No, not with iPhoto. That can be done with iWeb. You password protect a single site and can have multiple photo pages, i.e. slideshows, in that site. The just provide the URL to the site along with the password and user name to use.
It's so easy to create the photo page/slideshow in iWeb by dragging the album of the photos you want to use into the iWeb photo page like this.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

How do i incorperate the web gallery into my own web site?

I have a web site and i want to incorperate the web gallery created with Aperture in to it but i cant seem to get it right. I use fetch to upload and I renamed the "index.html" (from the aperture gallery) to a relevent link name but it just does'nt work.
Ive created the original web site with "Freeway 3"
I would be gratful if anyone could assist me.

I might be wrong, but it seems to me that what you're doing wrong is not pointing your main site into the gallery's folder structure. That is, there's no need to rename the index.html file that inside the gallery folder created upon export; you just have to point your main site's home page (or whatever page you want to set up a link to your gallery from) to the index.html file in the gallery folder.
For example, let's say your main site's home page is at http://www.yourdomain.com/index.html, and you've exported your new gallery to a folder named newgallery. All you have to do is create a link in your main site's index.html that points to newgallery/index.html (actually, you only need to point to the folder newgallery, since browsers will look inside the folder for a file called index.html, or home.html, or index.php, or a few others). The gallery folder's structure provides all the images, links, navigation, etc., for the gallery, starting at it's index.html page, but changing the name of that file doesn't tell your main site's index page to go to it. In fact, it doesn't do anything at all.

Currency Translation at the Web Template level (standard functionality)

Hi Experts ,
We are currently working in BI 7.0 env. with source system ECC 5.0.
We are working for a task where we need to make the BEx queries enabled for currency translation .
The requirement is :-
The user should be enable to give/opt/choose for the follwoing options:-
Currency type (target currency in which the translation is aimed)
Exchange Rate ( Standard(M) or other(P) or something else) and
Key date: The translation will be performed taking the exchange rate on that particular date.
We do have 2 option to perform the task...
1:- Either we do it thru currency translation type definition(RSCUR) and then attaching this currency translation for every amount key figure values at each query level. OR
2:- If we can go and find something at the Web Template level and add/modify the template in such a way so that it gives us the functionality to translate a source currency into a desired one with desired exchange rate type (currently either M or P) and for a specific date.
At this point of time when we do have numerous sub-areas holding hundreds of queries, we want something which should be available as the modification/addition to standard functionality at the web template level and not at the query level as changing each and every one of them and testing would be a cumbersome process and would be costly and risky at the same time. So we are just wondering if we can find something with option no. 2 and add/modify something in the standard functionality.
Please ask for any more information required.

You would still need to define the Currency Translation using RSCUR where you would specify
-the exchange rate type (either fixed or variable)
-the target currency (either fixed or variable)
-the reference date
You don't need to modify any of your queries. You can instead use 'Translate Currency'/[SET_CURRENCY_TRANSLATION] command in WAD & specify the Currency Translation as defined in RSCUR. If you want the target currency & exchange rate type to be driven by user input, you can define these as variables in RSCUR & invoke the variable screen using 'OPEN_VARIABLE_DIALOG' in WAD for user input just before calling 'SET_CURRENCY_TRANSLATION' command.

I upgraded to lion, now that I am restarting my mac, it is asking for a password. mind you i never set a password in the begining. so i used my start up cd and re set the password and restarted my mac only to be faced with the same delima. user password.

How to reset the web gallery???

I have deleted all albums in iPhotos. However, one album cannot be deleted from the web gallery. How can I reset the web gallery?
PLEASE HELP!!!

In the finder go to your iDisk ==> Web ==> Sites ==> _Gallery and drag the folder(s) you want to delete to the trash

Hiding options in the web gallery in iWeb?

How do I hide the options in the web gallery in my iWeb? I want people to see my images but dont want to show the Download or the Subscribe buttons.
Is there anyway to turn these off.
I'm using iWeb 8 and have a mobileme account

Into which iWeb template did you insert your photos? ...For example, the Photos page template or the +My Albums+ page template, etc.
How exactly did you insert the photos from your MobileMe Gallery homepage? ...Did you click on the Web Widgets button in iWeb's lower toolbar and select +MobileMe Gallery+ and an +Album name+ ?

What happened to the Web Gallery list in my iPhoto 08 sidebar?

I posted a web gallery yesterday. It's visible online, but no longer listed in the iPhoto sidebar (along with albums, events, etc.). Is this right or has something gone wrong?
I'd like to have it back so that I can invite others to come view the gallery without having to go online to do it.

what version of iPhoto are you running? There have been many fixes to web galleries and there still are some issues to be resolved - in versions before 7.1.2 web galleries were pretty flaky
7.1.3 still have some issues but many less
One suggestion is in the future make an album of the photos you want in the web gallery and do all changes there then publish that album as a web gallery - making changes to a published web gallery while it is updating (and you can not easily control this) still seems to cause problems

How can I disable the setting "Needs password" in the mediathek settings?

How can I disable the setting "Needs password" in the mediathek settings for "Share my mediathek in my local network"? I unchecked it, but as soon as I opened itunes again, it was checked again. It was no problem unchecking the corresponding box with my laptop. This is important for me because otherwise I cannot watch my mediathek-content with Apple TV. Thank you for your help. I wanted to know is the VIP failover at the web server level also? For example, we are running Apex and that uses Apache/HTTP webserver, if that were to go down on one node, would it failover to the other node? Or is it not at the webserver level?

However, I had one question about an action script that is in the following documentation:

In there in APPENDIX B is a script called webcache_action.scr. I modified this script to use in our environment to start and stop the http_server process. We have been having some problems with it...mainly when it fails over, it shuts down the http server, then brings it back up, then down again. This is happening in a production system so it's a big issue. My question is can you explain to me why that is happening and maybe also explain what the script is doing? Maybe I'm missing something. Do I even need to have the stop part in the script? All we need to do is when it fails over to startup the http server on the node, that's it! Any help would be appreciated.

what is the web gallery option good for if it doesnt work on any other computer, other than mine? If i choose save "online" where do i find ftp server ? and what type of sites does this work on?

Saving collections and I suppose web gallery (although I have neverf used it) is really just a reference to file locations on your computer. So it will not work for any other computer that is not exactly like yours.

Can't access password protected .Mac Web Gallery

Safari is my primary browser. I have been creating web galleries using iLife '08 and my .Mac account and then viewing them with Safari for the past month or so with no trouble. This weekend I tried creating a password protected web gallery and it won't load in Safari. The gear icon just spins forever and has timed out when I have left it alone long enough. My other web galleries continue to load just fine. Clicking on the link from within iPhoto for my password protected gallery doesn't work, typing the url into Safari doesn't work, going to my gallery index and clicking on the icon of the "locked" gallery doesn't work, etc. I can still view all of my other web galleries, but this one that I'm trying to protect just won't load.
This actually appears to be a Safari problem. I don't get a dialog asking for User Name and Password. The url works just fine using Firefox on my Mac, and it also works on a PC running Windows XP. When using something other than Safari, I get the prompt for User Name and Password that I would expect. Upon entering that information, everything looks normal and works just fine.
Tsk tsk Apple! Safari shouldn't be having trouble displaying protected .Mac web galleries. Sheesh!

Just wanted to let you know that I have the EXACT SAME problem, except it is affecting my password protected iWeb site and my Gallery. I can view it from Firefox, so that is the web browser I am using now. I sent a bug report to Apple, and I also send them a request for help using e-mail, but so far I have gotten no response. Hopefully someone is working on the fix?

Unable to edit, add or change passwords in iphoto web gallery

Iphoto and Web Gallery were working great but recently, I am unable to add, change, or delete passwords to my web galleries. When I go Settings and into Edit Names and Passwords, I can add or change a password but when I click OK, it will not allow either clicking on OK or hitting return. I have also posted an album to web gallery and it does not appear in the list in Settings or in the Edit Name and Password lists but I can see my gallery out on the web with all photos.
Any help on why this is. I have both a IMAC and a Macbook and it is the same with both computers using my imac account. Both have updated software and the Macbook has Parallels installed. I
ran repair in Keychain Access with no problems. I created another account and this did not help.

Add password after a web gallery is published?

I published 9 web galleries of each of my kids and their cousins with over 2000 images and it took 8+ hours for everything to upload.
After I showed my husband he really wants it password protected. I didn't think it mattered because who else would be interested in family photos...
But now I don't see a way to add a password after the fact. I don't want to have to republish everything since it took so long.
Any ideas???

It's sad we even have to think about these things but for a variety of reasons it's probably best to preserve our kids anonymity.
My partner seemed shocked when I said I was putting some family photos up on .Mac gallery until I explained you could password protect etc and that they wouldn't necessarily be available to anyone on the net.
There was an article (NY Times maybe) a few months back suggesting that many young job applicants are doing themselves no favours posting 'humorous' photos on social networking sites as many HR departments now search for prospective job applicants online to see if they've posted anything which would not be deemed respectable by the company - incredible bu true!

Autosave for user ID and password in the web

I got a new E71 replacing a Windows PDA and I don't find the way to automotically save the usier IF and the password when accessing URL whic demand it. I need to to type once and again.
I use to have it in my windows PDA. Can anybody help me and indicate how to do it??

Create a favorite->add other object-BSP APPLICATION
enter the following
BSP APPLICATION - CRM_UI_FRAME
Start Page - default.htm
in parameter add the following two parameters
sap-user - value ishould be your user name
sap-password - value should be your password.
you can also create a internet explorer favorite by adding the same parameters to the original link. i.e.
http://sap/bc/bsp/sap/crm_ui_frame/default.htm?sap-user=(user name)&sap-password=(password)
save the favorite. and now when you double click on this favorite, it will launch web UI and won't ask for the password.
