Setting Ambient Noise Print shuts down STP

Setting Ambient Noise Print shuts down the waveform editor application in Sountrack Pro every time. I selected an area of the waveform followed by Process>Set Ambient Noise Print which caused the waveform editor to unexpectedly shut down. I tried different files in both aif and stap formats. Other troubleshooting included software updates for Final Cut Studio and the OSX operating software. I deleted and reloaded Final Cut Studio with updates. Repair disk permissions was also performed.
Error log shows that Thread 0 crashed; Exception: EXCBADACCESS (0x0001) Codes: KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00000000, but no idea what this all means.
This is a new system with no plug ins or additional third party software installed. All other applications were off when trying to set the ambient noise print.

The application software is installed on the main harddrive which has 185GB available. The media file is on the second hardrive which has 179GB available. The media file is 16MB. I have tried multiple files with extensions .aif and .stap
I checked the Applications/Utilities/Console log which showed no indication of any print outs prior to the crash. The crash was followed by the following messages. "power-mac g5 crash dump {449} amd , "crash report written to Library/Logs/crash reporter/Soundtrack Pro.crash.log.
The error log indicated the message I printed in my original post. I believe that a big clue is the following list in the error log, "KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE. The Forgotten Manual refers to Kernal errors (not sure if it is the same thing as KERN) related to hardware issues such as bad RAM or after market products. I am using a Bella keyboard that was purchased through Apple and designed specifically for Final Cut Pro which has caused lock up problems when using the jog dial. However, a friend is also using this keyboard with no lockup problems and a similar configuration. I did not want to confuse the matter by adding in other issues but they somehow could be related. I also tried to use the MAC Help pull down and it will not let me select anything (such as Index). Is it time to take the whole thing back to Apple for warranty support?

Set Ambient Noise Print

I am trying to use the Ambient Noise Print process but after I make a selection Soundtrack Pro won't let me select it from the process menu.
I think my problem is because my project is a single-track mono project. Does anyone know if I have to have a stereo pair to use this process?
I don't understand why this is so hard.

I have yet to find a good explanation for my issue but it still happens from time to time.

Ok. I've only worked in STP with single audio clips. Now, I'm trying to adjust audio inside a Multi-Track project sent from FCP... and it's a little different. At least to a guy like me.
I'm struggling with the most basic issue, and that's possibly why I can't find an answer to it.
Simply, "How do I go about setting a noise print for an entire track?" I've done this for a single audio clip, but now that I'm in a slightly different environment my old ways don't work. I've looked through video tutorials hoping to find something but no luck.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

With the audio opened in SoundTrack Pro, select (highlight) a small portion that only contains the noise that you want to reduce. Sample that section. then select the entire audio clip and use the Noise Reduction tools to reduce the noise that you sampled earlier.

Printer shuts down immediately after I switch it on...

Please help, I've only had my printer around 4 months and the last couple of days when I've gone to use it it turns on, takes me to the home screen but then immediatley shuts down so I cant do anything on it Tried unplugging, checking cables etc but it still keeps doing it. Any help much appreciated.

Hi,Ensure the printer directly connected to a wall socket and not through any power splitter, surge protector, etc, then check for any difference. I would also suggest trying a different wall socket to deny any possible cause. Going to print shuts down Adobe Reader

I get this error message every time I go to print a document. I get the message box saying Adobe Reader has encountered a problem and will shut down.
My printer works for all other programs. I get this error every time I try to print from Adobe...doesn't matter what document it is. I have removed Adobe Reader and reinstalled it and nothing changes. Same problem.
I use Adobe Reader 10.1.2

Same thing happened to me... just started today. I've tried to print PDF's from Internet Explorer, Chrome, Mozilla, and also from PDF's stored on harddrive. It puases for a few seconds and then the PDF closes. I do not get an error message. Also removed and reinstalled Adobe Reader. I had to print the document today so I downloaded a program called FoxIt reader and was able to print the PDF's with it. Note: I use AVG as my anti-virus program

890GXM-G65 on-board Audio white noise when shutting down ... Please Help

Just got this board on ebay. Runs great but when rebooting the following happens:
MSI 890GXM-G65 on-board Audio produces a second's worth of white noise (radio no-station-tuned static sound) when shutting down - about a second before the screen goes bank and the PC restarts
I don't mind the noise but is this normal or should I send the board back ?

All Windows Sounds are turned off except for Device Connect / Disconnect / Connect Failure. I have an Audigy 2 PCI card but I haven't tried it because the drivers always lock up the PC when I run MSI Afterbutner, eVGA Precision or almost any other hardware monitoring utility.
Since I flashed the BIOS to v1.B I feel I can't return it to the seller but I really like the board and it works well, except for this integrated audio issue. I won't return this board - it's a keeper.
Still, I'm hoping for a fix if possible.

HT201263 My 3GS has gone faulty. It won't power up and with a wall charger connected, only gets as far as the apple logo. It then makes a vibration noise and shuts down again

Hi guys, looking for some assistance with my 3GS. A few weeks back it started playing up. Shutting down suddenly and the like. Now, it's failing to start up. When I connect it to a wall charger, the apple logo comes on and after a short while it vibrates and then gives the 'connect to iTunes' message. The minute I disconnect from the wall, it just shuts down. If I keep it connected at the wall it goes through the above sequence before shutting down and repeats the cycle again and again.
I've tried all the 'recovery' methods without any success. The device is not recognised by iTunes. I've taken it to small independent repair outlets who say they can't repair it. Is there anything I can do or is it totally gone for good?

It MAY have a bad battery, and that may be all it needs. But you can't find out until you replace the battery, and then you might find out it's something different. It's a 4 year old phone; consider getting a newer model. If you take it to an Apple store they should be able to diagnose it. Make a Genius Bar appointment before going to avoid a long wait.

Unfortunately, this is the sound of the high voltage capacitors in the main power supply failing. It will not be long until the Time Capsule makes no sound.
If the Time Capsule in warranty, Apple will replace it. If you have AppleCare in effect on one of your Macs, the Time Capsule might be covered as well if it is not more than 3 years old.
Take the Time Capsule to an Apple Store....if you have one near you....to discuss your options.

Left fan in my MBP makes some weired noise when shutting down

Hi, my model is 2.4 Late 2008, few days ago the left side of my mbp dropped on the table because I forgot to take out the headphone when I stood up.. Now every times I turn off the computer, the left fan makes noises that sound like the fan is touching to the cover (when the fan slows down). What should I do now?

Wierd music and noises during shut down?????

Every time I shut my computer down I hear weird songs coming from my external speakers. I don't have any programs running that would make this happen (i.e.- internet, itunes, imove etc.). And if I have no programs open if I turn my speakers up and listen close I can hear music. Weird. Any ideas?

Setting log out at shut down?

I'm wondering if there is a way to have my MacBook shutdown at logout or logout at shutdown. When I shutdown, the computer is accessible to anyone at startup. When I logout, I can't shutdown without allowing restart of the computer with full access. Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
In the Accounts System Preferences, click the "Login Options" under the list of users. (You may need to put in your password to do this.) Uncheck the option to "Automatically log in as:". After this, you will need to put your password in to log in each time after you startup.
You can also check an option in the Security System Preferences to require a password to disable the screen saver or wake from sleep. Then, each time you close and open the MacBook, it will ask you for your password. That might save you from logging out sometimes.

Replace With Ambient Noise?

It took a round trip from FCP 7 to Soundtrack to get rid of some unwanted sounds and replace them with "ambient" noise. Using "Set ambient Noise Print" and "Replace with Ambient Noise", or names to that effect, it was an easy and intuitive process and the length of the audio track never changed.
Is there a similar way of replacing a part of an audio track with ambient noise without having to worry about changing the length of the track?

One of the many features I miss with FCP X is round tripping to Soundtrack Pro and Motion - but I still use Soundtrack Pro for and serious audio editing - as long as you work in a non-compressed format (like.aiff) there will be no loss of quality.
Jari (above) shows a simple but effective way to replace with ambient sound within FCP X.

Photosmart C4580 won't print - push a button on printer it shuts down

The Photosmart C4580 has been reluctant lately to print anything at all. The documents sit in the spooler but won't print.
I've searched for this problem here and haven't seen same printer, same issue and solution, so here goes...

I've had this printer since February 2009. I've set it up on the USB port.
Three weeks ago I upgraded the memory from twin 256 module setup to twin 512 using Dell products. Obviously, I took the PC apart, cleaned the dust bunnies, installed the memory and everything worked great after rebooting - including the printer.
About two weeks ago a carriage jam error popped up. It wasn't jammed but I pulled the ink, reset them and restarted the printer. It worked fine - no noises, no jams, nothing.
Yesterday the printer quit printing at all. It said documents are printing but they just sat in the queue. I've done:
1. HP Solution Center guided solution
(when it asks to hit the Cancel Button and Start Copy Color buttons to print Self Test, the printer shuts down every time)
2. Windows troubleshooter
3. The HP Support solution online
4. Reinstalled printer using original CD
5. Reinstalled using the latest install software from HP online.
*After the latest reinstall, where the program asks you to print a test photo page, it did not print. HOWEVER, after I shut down and restarted the printer, that photo printed! But I can't print anything else since.

No Option To Set Noise Print in Soundtrack Pro

This is another newbie to Soundtrack Pro question. I have background hiss from some terrible audio recording (not my doing) that I would like to utilize the noise reduction feature via setting a Noise Print. Once I select a section of my audio track and go to Process, however, it does not give me any options. Meaning, the options are all in gray, and cannot be selected/clicked on. Any ideas why this is? Everywhere I search (Discussions, phone support, at the Apple Store), I am told to follow the same steps, but I continue to be unable to choose Set Noise Print. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Is this a multitrack project? If so, you must first double-click the clip to get it in it's own window.
