Setting bind variable for a view object from the Managed Bean

Hi,
i am using JDeveloper 11g, i have to create LOV in the JSF. To show the LOV, it has to populate data using View object and its query parameter need to be sent from the Managed Bean.
For the View object i want to set the bind variable parameter from the managed bean value. bename is stored in a managed bean (session scope)
#{beantest.bename}
But it gives the following exception.
JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught:
org.codehaus.groovy.control.MultipleCompilationErrorsException,msg=startup failed, Script1.groovy: 1: expecting '!',found '{'@ line1, column 2.
I have followed the link http://kr.forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=615474 like Frank wrote on 8.2.2008:
But steps are not clear.
How to input the VO bind parameter with Managed bean variable?
Any Help

Hi,
a bind variable in a VO needs to be exposed as an executeWithParams operation in the pageDef file. Just add a new action binding to the pageDef file (context menu) and select the executeWithParams operation on teh VO. Then in the argument field, reference the managed bean property for the value

  • How to share a bind variable across multiple view objects?

    Hi, Can someone tell me if it's possible to share a bind variable among multiple view objects within an application module? My web page displays data from different VOs on different regions. But all data should be controlled by the same bind variable, which appears in all queries. How can I achieve this?
    Please help.

    Best to state your JDev version, and technology stack (eg. ADF BC) when posting.
    I can think of 2 approaches.
    1) Create a parent VO based on SELECT :bindVar FROM dual, then create links between your other VOs and the parent
    2) Create a AM client interface method that programatically sets the bind variable in each VO.
    Can you specify your use case? This one tends to come up when discussing effective from/to dated queries.

  • How to set a bind variable into a vo query from the current vo ?

    I would like to exclude from my list of values defined in a view object the already referenced items in the current view object content.
    Let's say i have dept and emp with a many to many relationships, I would like that the already existing dept for emp not listed (excluded) in the list of values for emp.
    Do i need to define a bind parameters and set it during search or is it possible to use an expression that will refer the current row attribute representing the dept ?
    I didn't find an example or explanation how to set bind parameters defined in a view object query from seach pages or list of values ui components. May be somebody know how to find the info.
    Thank you

    I think that bind variable accessors in the VO class is what you need. You can override the getter method of the bind variable "LocaleCode2" in order to return the first 2 chars from the bind variable "LocaleCode". Have a look at this blog post for details:

  • Dynamically assign value to bind variable in a view object before pageload

    I found that it is extreamely hard to find an example to assign the bind variable in View object at runtime using a data attribute defined in Human task activity. Most of the available samples use a Literal value to do the assignment. In my case, I want to dynamically display the content by assigning the data attribute in Human task to the bind variable in view object before a pageload.
    I do not want to bind the view object to some command component to click a button or link in order to make it work (Unnecessary components in my page).
    The issue is how to access the data attribute in Human task in the java code of client interface in AppModule? or is there a way that I can access the data attribute in Groovy script expression of the bind variable? or if I can access the process data object defined in my BPM process to do the assignment at runtime?
    Really need help on the issue, and I cannot believe that it is so hard to accomplish.
    Thank you very much,

    if we hardcoded person_id in query to some value then we are getting results without any error.

    user603084 ,
    In the query you have specifies bind variable as :person_id , but in your VO execution code you are setting value for bind variable :1
    yvo.setWhereClauseParam(0,t);
    You need to change the bind variable in query , like :1
    and then execute the query of VO, as you have done. Also do executeQuery, after setting bind variables.

  • About dynamically setting bind variable in LOV View

    Hi,
    I have a LOV VO for an af:SelectOneChoice field in the page.
    The LOV is depended on an SQL statement in which there is a bind variable in the where clause.
    When I open the page, I set the bind variable by using VO.setNamedWhereClauseParam in the prepareSession method in the application module, followed by VO.executeQuery();
    The problem is, the af:SelectOneChoice is blank. Why?
    If I do not use the bind variable in the SQL, I can see rows in the af:SelectOneChoice field.
    When is the proper time to populate the LOV? And where should I put the code for populating the LOV?
    I am sure that the VO is populated, because after I executeQuery, there are many rows in the VO.
    Thanks
    Stephen

    Hi Franky,
    Yes, when I set a default value for the bind variable, everything is OK.
    But I want the bind variable dynamically be set when the AM is initiated. Is there a way to do that?

  • Setting bind variables for VO in JUnit test case

    Hi,
    I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.2.2
    I have a problem while writing the test case for VO in JUnit.
    For the Remove method in the Test case , I have passed variables into the VO by using a setWhereClause() .
    Like this :
            view.setWhereClause(null);
            String whereClause = "location_id = '" + newUpdatedLocationId  + "' AND organization_id = '" +newOrganizationId + "'" ;
            view.setWhereClause(whereClause);
            view.executeQuery();
            while (view.hasNext()) {
                view.next();
                view.removeCurrentRow();
            fixture1.getApplicationModule().getTransaction().commit();But it is showing a an error like the bind variables are not set.
    So how will I access Bind variables programmatically and set the values ?
    Thanks
    Nigel.

    setNamedWhereClauseParam() is used for setting bind variables

  • [python] setting a variable in a loaded module from the main script

    Hi,
    I have have two python scripts, one generally controlling my desktop wallpaper, the other downloads the APOD picture from the net and sets it as my wallpaper.
    At the moment I can get the wallpaper script to load the apod script as a module to use its functionality.
    The problem comes when I try to get the module to recognise variables set from the parent script:
    I have both scripts using the variable  'verbose' to control how much output is printed, (which can be set from the command line options).
    How do I get the 'verbose' variable in the imported module to be the same as the variable set by the script?
    I can get it into an imported function using a keyword assignment when called, 'download(verbose=options.verbose)', but this is forgotten when other functions are called.
    I have also tried making it a global variable.
    I assume it is because I am importing the module and setting the default value before the main script sets its value, but I cant see a way round this.
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks,
    Drew

  • View link accessor for master view object with bind variables

    Is there a way to set bind variables for a view object to which a view link accessor is used to retrieve a view row from a detail view row in a master-detail relationship ?
    I understand that RowSet (or Row) returned by a view link accessor originates from an "internally created" view object instance.
    I am using 10.1.3.0.4 JDeveloper.

    Thanks! that's right the bind variables when i use it on where clause must be required, so i change my sql to:
    Select /*+ use_nl(p p2) */
    'F' tipo_persona,
    p.ID_PERSONA, p.TDOC, p.NDOC, p.DENO
    From SINT_PERSONA p,
    ( Select /*+ index(a SINT_PERSONA_IX2) */
    a.ID_PERSONA
    From SINT_PERSONA_DOCUMENTO a
    where ( NDOC = :p_cuit
    and :p_cuit <> 0 )
    ) p2
    Where p.id_persona = p2.id_persona
    AND (deno = decode(:p_deno,'null',null,upper(:p_deno)) or
    :p_deno = 'null')
    AND (NDOC = decode(:p_ndoc,0,null,:p_ndoc) or
    :p_ndoc = 0)
    and grado_confiab > 0
    and my bind variables:
    p_ndoc required default value 0
    p_cuit required default value 0
    p_deno required default value null
    and works ok!
    thanks a lot !!!!

  • Bizarre behavior of a View Criteria for a View Object

    Hey,
    I remarked quite a bizarre behavior of the View criteria that I created for my view object, using bind variables.
    lets say I have the generated query in the View object:
    SELECT Paquet.ID,
    Paquet.WEIGHT,
    Paquet.VALUE,
    Paquet.ORIGIN,
    Paquet.DESTINATION
    FROM PAQUET Paquet
    I want to use the executeWithParams with bind variables for this View object.
    I create a bind variable:p_o
    I create the View Criteria vith the visual editor that generates an additional view clause:
    ( ( ( Paquet.ORIGIN LIKE ('%' || :p_o || '%') ) OR ( :p_o IS NULL ) ) )
    test query works and explain plan as well.
    Now, when I execute the view object on a page with the bind variable properly set, I get the error: java.sql.SQLException: Attempt to set a parameter name that does not occur in the SQL: p_o
    Then I copy the where clause generated by view criteria visual edito directly to the query and delete the View Criteria, and it ALL WORKS FINE
    If has to work like that, then what is the View Criteria useful for? I still think that there is a problem.
    Thanks!
    Taavi

    Hi,
    ViewCriterias are not accessed with ExecuteWith Params. For this the bind variable needs to be in the where clause. Named ViewCriterias are listed separately in the DC list

  • Call view object from ViewController [SOLVED]

    I'm using a valueChangeListener method in a managed bean, which I'd like to use to call a method on a view object. How can I call the view object from a managed bean class?
    Regards

    Maik,
    It is best practice to create a method on your application module, and have this method manipulate VO's and call VO methods.
    See section 8.5.3.1 in ADF Developers Guide for more info o calling an AM method from a managed bean:

  • No Signature of Method Error when trying to set Bind Variable Groovy Expr

    I am trying to set a Bind variable on my view object to equal the output of a function defined in the the EntityImpl.java that corresponds to that bind variable.
    I set the value of my bind variable to be = adf.object.getMyServiceType()
    Where the name of the view object I am currently in is called GridSwSoftwareServiceView.xml and the Entity object is called GridSwSoftwareService.java and the EntityImpl file is called GridSwSoftwareService.java.
    I am seeing this error:
    No signature of method: oracle.jbo.common.VariableImpl$VariableExprValueSupplier.getMyServiceType() is applicable for argument types: () values: []
    Does anyone know what this error means?
    I was trying to follow an example from this doc: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/11/how-tos/groovy/introduction_to_groovy.pdf

    Looks like a bug... :(
    It works fine as a View Object attribute expression but it fails miserably once added as an expression to the bind variable. In this case, here is a work-around:
    Define the method as static in your EntityImpl.java :
    public static String getMyServiceType() {
    return "EBSO R12";
    Then access it by fully qualifying it with the package and class :
    com.yourpackage.EntityImpl.getMyServiceType()
    Edited:
    On a second thought, I am wondering if the expression is valid since the Entity hasn't yet constructed at that point.... That explains why it works when made static.
