Setting contact photos

I've recently been editing my contacts so their pictures will be included in their profiles, is there any way to set a contact photo from a source other than my pictures? For instance, if I don't have any photos of one of my contacts, can I pull one from Facebook or the internet without first having to save it to my photos?

No. The photos need to be in the Photos app on the phone. I like that idea though.

    Now that iOS 5 has come out, all iPad 2's come with iOS 5 pre-installed (unless you find old stock sitting at a retailer somewhere). iOS 5 has a built-in setup assistant for AirPort base stations (such as AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme, and Time Capsule). First you plug in your AirPort Express to power, and plug its Ethernet into your broadband (Cable or DSL or whatever) modem/router's LAN port. Then in iOS 5, you go to Settings > Wi-Fi, and your AirPort Express will show up in a separate list as a base station that has not been set up. Select it there, and iOS will look at your environment and guess how you want it set up. It usually guesses right. If it guesses right for your needs, you hit the button and it sets it up that way. If it guessed wrong, you hit "More Choices" and select an alternative setup method.
    After you've done the initial setup that way, if you later decide you want to tweak the settings, you can download the free AirPort Utility for iOS 5, from the App Store.
    Kappy made a small mistake when he said you can use the AirPort Utility app for iOS to set up the AirPort Express. You actually have to do the initial setup right form the AirPort Assistant built right into iOS 5 as I described above. The AirPort Utility app for iOS is where you make changes later, not where you do the initial setup. But yes, you can do all of this setup right from the iPad now, as of iOS 5. No Mac or PC required.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Create an iCloud account for each of them.

    Phone A = phone with information you want duplicated
    Phone B = phone that you want to copy from A
    Backup Phone A.
    Wipe Phone B using these instructions. What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    Phone B should be on the 'Hello' screen. Do not swipe it. Launch iTunes. Plug in Phone B.
    When iTunes asks if you want to set up as new phone or restore from backup, choose restore from backup of Phone A.
    After this setup, any changes to one phone (i.e. adding a contact, downloading an app) will have to be manually duplicated on the second phone, if that is your desire). Making changes to one phone will not affect the other after setup.

  • Set a Photo to a contact

    I noticed that when I set a photo to a contact then when that contact calls there pic takes up the whole iphone screen, but on apple.com they have an example and the photo only takes up the top right with the wallpaper in the background. How can I set it to do that?

    I was expecting just the opposite. I have been adding photos to my contacts in address book for years. Once I purchased and synced the iPhone with my PowerMac I wanted the photos to show up "full screen" on my iPhone.
    Does anyone know of a way to make the synced address book photos appear "full screen" on my iPhone. Maybe this is not possible due to the pictures resolution.

  • Contacts photos won't stay where you set the pic

    Hey I'm on a iPhone 6 plus ios8 and every time I set a contact photo to a specific place on the photo and hit done the circle always centers itself on the photo when save and won't stay on the part of the photo I choose. Does anyone have a fix or any input on this??? Would definitsly appr it.

    Thanks for the idea John, but no go. I was talking about the iPhoto Trash. I moved the photos I wanted to delete there and then emptied the Trash.
    Per your suggestion I moved the "com.apple.iPhoto.plist" from Preferences to Mac Trash (didn't empty Mac Trash because I was afraid I would lose the entire Library). When I copied the album to a new folder on my hard drive the photo I thought I had deleted re appeared. I put "com.apple.iPhoto.plist" back into Preferences just to play it safe.
    Any other ideas on where the little buggers might be hiding and how I can get rid of them?

  • How to set the precedence of conflicting contact photos

    I have two accounts in my contacts app, one for iCloud (my personal contacts) and one from my employer's CardDav server.
    My problem is that some of my work colleages are also personal friends, with contact records in my iCloud account—and I myself have a contact card in both places.
    In such cases, my Apple Mail app seems to choose which contact photo to display at random (either my carefully selected iCloud account photo, or the boring work account mugshot). Also, the photo displayed for any one individual often changes after a restart—sometime an individual gets their work mugshot, sometimes their nice iCloud photo.
    Strangely, the Messages app always seems to choose my iCloud photos.
    Is there any way to give the iCloud account precidnce for contact photos as displayed in Mail and Messages? If I've gone to the trouble of selecting a photo for someone, I'd like to it to be displayed, even if the CardDav server has an alternative photo.
    Regards,
    J.

    For me its:
    1. Open the phone app and dial *#61# on the Keypad. Press the Call button.
    2. Locate this text on the screen: "Setting Interrogation Succeeded, Voice Call Forwarding, When Unanswered, Forwards to +" and record the 11-digit number after the + symbol.
    3. Touch the Dismiss button. Now enter this code on the Keypad: *61*+ followed by the 11-digit Forwards to number recorded in step 2, followed by *11 and *ringtime#. Ringtime is the number of seconds you want your iPhone to ring before voicemail picks up. Your finished code should look something like this:
    *61*+18555513466*11*30#
    In the example above the ring time is set to 30 seconds. Press the Call button.
    4. You should receive the message: Setting Activation Succeeded. Press Dismiss and next time you receive a call it will ring for the new amount of time before going to voicemail.

    Unless you subscribe to iTunes Match, iCloud doesn't sync music.  Just set up every person's devices on a separate iCloud account and your iCloud data and photo stream will remain separated.  Each iCloud account will need a separate ID, but it does not need to be the same as your iTunes ID.  You can continue to share the same iTunes ID and maintain separate iCloud accounts with separate IDs for iCloud.
    You'll also want to use separate IDs for each person for iMessage and FaceTime.  This will keep your text messages and FaceTime called separated as well.  The easiest way to do this is to have everyone use their iCloud ID for these two services as well.

  • Cisco Jabber client not displaying Contact Photos

    Hi All,
    We have configured an external webserver to store our contact photos. But I couldn't get it working on Jabber windows clients. It works for CUPC8.5. I run the wireshark on webserver and can't see any request from Jabber client. xml file is -
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <config version="1.0">
    <Directory>
      <DirectoryServerType>EDI</DirectoryServerType>
       <PhotoUriSubsitutionEnabled>true</PhotoUriSubsitutionEnabled>
      <PhotoUriSubstitutionToken>sAMAccountName</PhotoUriSubstitutionToken>
      <PhotoUriWithToken>http://webserveraddress/people/sAMAccountName.jpg</PhotoUriWithToken>
    </Directory>
    <CUCM>
      <PhoneService_UseCredentialsFrom>presence</PhoneService_UseCredentialsFrom>
    </CUCM>
    </config>
    Can someone please advise what's the issue.

    Hey  Abhi,
    In the PRT, I see the following:
    2012-05-28 09:02:16,733 DEBUG [0x00001654] [s\feature-libs\config\src\Config.cpp(74)] [csf.unified.config] [Config::getValue] - result [true] key [PhotoUriWithToken] value [http:///people/adack.jpg]
    I understand that you changed the parameter to see if we can even pull a single image for anyone, however, what I see next is:
    2012-05-28 09:02:16,733 DEBUG [0x00001654] [rdsource\ADPersonRecordSourceLog.cpp(50)] [csf.person.adsource] [WriteLogMessage] - Configuration::SetConfigurationParameter - setting configuration parameter [PhotoSource] to [adack] //This needs to be AD Parameter which I see you used earlier
    2012-05-28 09:02:16,733 DEBUG [0x00001654] [rdsource\ADPersonRecordSourceLog.cpp(50)] [csf.person.adsource] [WriteLogMessage] - Configuration::SetConfigurationParameter - setting configuration parameter [PhotoUriWithToken] to [http://pho/people/adack.jpg]
    Do you know where this url is coming from?
    I suggest that based on Jason's input and as well as changing the parameter back to the one we want, lets follow this action plan:
    1) Exit out of Jabber and delete the files from the following location:
    C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Cisco\Unified Communications\Jabber\CSF\Logs
    2 ) Modify the Jabber-Config.xml
    Change the Directory Section of the Jabber-Config.xml to the following
      EDI
      True
      sAMAccountName
      http://sptde.racq.com.au/people/sAMAccountName.jpg
    3) Re-login and then Generate the PRT by Help -> Report Error
    Keep in mind if the jabber-config.xml is uploaded on Call Manager, it'll replace any local modification, so we have to update the file on Call Manager .
    Once we have the new PRT with the Config provided above, I can work on that.
    Regards,
    Jasmeet

  • I damaged my iphone 5 and have been sent a new one, but i do not have enough storage to back up my phone and do not want to pay for more storage. can i get all of my contacts, photos, etc. on my new phone just by logging into my icloud account?

    Not photos, just data synced with iCloud shown in Settings>iCloud.  If you don't have sufficient storage to back up to iCloud, back up to your computer instead using iTunes (connect you phone to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of your phone in iTunes, go to ths Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click Back Up Now).  Also transfer your purchases to your iTunes library (connect your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases). If you have photo stream photos older than 30 days tha you wan to save, save these to your camera roll before backing up (tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon -- box with upward facing arrow, then tap Save to Camera Roll).
    When setting up your new phone, when given the option choose Restore from iTunes Backup and restore the backup you made earlier.

  • After changing contact photo on iPhone, photo no longer shows up in outlook

    I had my contact photos all setup on my iphone, and syncing correctly with iTunes and showing up correctly in Outlook 2007. The photos are stored on the iPhone, and set either by selecting the photo and doing "Assign to Contact", or in Contacts, Edit, Edit (the picture) and "Choose Photo". They would show up as a thumbnail in the Outlook 2007 Business Card view, and also in the detail when you double-click a contact. This part of the process hasn't changed.
    What has changed is iOS4. Now, when I go in and change a contact's photo on the iPhone, it no longer shows up correctly in Outlook 2007. It shows a blank space when showing the Business card view, but shows the photo correctly in the detail if I double-click a contact. Even if I change it back to the photo that it was, it still won't show correctly in Outlook 2007 Business Card view.
    Contacts whose photos I haven't changed since iOS4 show correctly in both places in Outlook 2007.
    Anyone else seeing this or have a fix?

    Hi!
    I'm having the same troubles and after searching for a while i found
    the following solution:
    In short (from http://gyoo.com/blog/?p=48)
    First, some figures:
    iPhone camera resolution: 1600×1200 (72dpi)
    iPhone screen resolution: 320×480 (160dpi)
    iPhone contact picture display size: 64×64 (160dpi)
    iPhone contact picture display size on call: 320×270 (160dpi)
    Outlook import resolution: 72×96 (72dpi)
    - On your PC, resize the image contact to 320×320 (160dpi),
    knowing that 25 pixels on the top and bottom will be semi-transparent when on call.
    - On your PC, create a folder iPhone Photos\Contacts and move your contact photos inside Sync the photos into your iPhone with iTunes through the Photos tab.
    - Select the iPhone Photos folder as source.
    - Manually associated the photo to your contact on the iPhone
    (Edit ->Add Photo->Choose Existing Photo)
    - Sync back the iPhone with iTunes.
    The photos will be associated automatically into Outlook with the good resolution this time.
    Regards
    Harry

  • Accidently set a photo to flash up on every call

    I have a xpress 5800 and last week I accidently set a photo in my gallery to flash up every time a number rings that I have not assigned a photo to or a number I do not know rings. Despite 3 emails to nokia and 3 acknowledgements of these emails and a promise to get in touch they have not bothered. Can anyone help me to undo what I've done? I cannot find any help in the booklet about it.
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Try this:
    Menu > Settings > Personal > Themes > Call Image
    Select "theme image" to go back to the default, "none" to have no call images or "user defined" to set a new picture.
    If the image is assigned to a specific contact you need to change that in the contacts section. If you need help post exactly how it's behaving (i.e. every caller, certain callers etc).

  • How do I make a contact photo full screen when receiving a call

    I know this feature went away in iOS 7.1 and turned into the small round bubbles but it appears to have returned in iOS 8 and Apple is advertising it on their site in the Yosemite pictures. Does anyone know how to make my contact photos full screen again?
    Scroll down to Continuity: http://www.apple.com/osx/

    There isn't a setting but there is a trick (at least on earlier iPhones but I suspect the 6 as well). For the photo to be full screen it must be a photo taken on the iPhone and still resident there. If you import the photo to a computer, delete it from the phone and then sync it back via iTunes, it will not display full screen. If the photo was taken on a previously owned iPhone and transferred to your new 6, it will not display full screen. If it is any consolation, I think the circular pictures are better when placing a call as the full screen ones aren't very visible behind the outgoing call screen, at least with my settings.

  • IOS contact photo showing up in Outlook and Lync

    Running Exchange 2010 SP3 UR7 and Lync 2013, all on-prem.
    We have a weird issue where someone called up stating their picture was in email and to have it removed.  We don't supply pictures in AD so normally everything is blank when you email or IM someone via link, no pictures for anyone shows up.
    My manager said he noticed it as well.  We found out that when he has a contact on his Iphone 6+ and he sets a picture (it is an active sync enabled device) it shows up in his Outlook client and his Lync client.  As soon as he changes it on
    his Iphone, it changes in Outlook and Lync.  I believe it is only visible on his PC and when sending emails out, no one sees the picture.
    How is this doing this or how do we stop it from happening?  I'm just assuming it is something in active sync that is doing this.

    Hi,
    Generally, if the user change their own photo in Outlook or Lync or ActiveSync device, the photo would be synced to AD automatically. Once the picture is synced to AD. Other domain users would also see this picture for this user. It needs time to update
    and sync.
    If the user changes the photo for a contact in ActiveSync device as what Willard says, the contact photo would be synced to mailbox only for this user view. It would not be synced to AD for this contact and other domain users would not view the changed photo.
