Setting default color

I just started on CS3, used to using elements. How do I change my background color to black? I would like to set the default to black and cant find how to change it in a new file or for the default. Any help very much appreciated.

When making a new doc (command-N) in the dialog (Background Contents) you can choose Background color to be the background. If your BG is black, there you have it.

How do I set default colors for XY chart series (lines and legend)

I am implementing a line chart and need to override the default (caspian style) colors for the line colors and the legend symbols. I'm not displaying the chart symbols themselves as that would make the chart look bad. I've been able to successfully set the default colors for the lines via the CSS below, but cannot find a way to do the same for the series symbols that appear in the chart legend. How do I do this? How to set default color to e-mail

I want to set a default color for all e-mail messages and although I have tried to set the color it doesn't seem to work ... second day with a mac, so speak slowly.
Also want to set up a signature with the name in one color and address and contact info a different color. I went into mail>preferences>signatures and was able to change font on different lines of signature ... but when I tried to apply colors, it didn't work

that's not possible. you'll have to do it for every message individually.

that's possible. while editing a signature go to Format menu->show fonts. in the popup click on T with a green rectangle next to it. that's the button for font color. you'll get yet another popup for color. highlight some text in the signature and click on the color you want.

I am not sure this is exactly what you mean, but, I think the only way to change the data color is to use a different series.

Can I set default colors for generated shapes in Premiere Pro CC?

I'm working on some highlight video where I need to generate an ellipse on each clip to highlight a player. I'd like to use a yellow/yellow, 20% softness, 8 thickness ellipse each time, but by default PP gives me an ugly green/blue combination, and I have to change the inside/outside colors, softness and thickness each time I add a clip and generate an ellipse.
Is there a way to set a default inner/outer color, thickness, and softness setting for each new generated shape so that I don't have to keep repeating these steps?

If you are using the Title Designer to generate your ellipse, and if I understand what you want, the answer is yes.
Unless I am completely off-base, your default font style below the title has the colors of that ugly green/blue combo.
You can easily just set the ellipse the exact way you want it, and then go into the Font Styles menu and create a new font style. Give it a unique name like "Ellipse" and then drag that new style from the end up to the beginning of the list. (Upper left hand corner).
I created an ellipse using a greenish yellow, rather unattractive color for both the shape and the stroke. I used a higher opacity because it shows up better in the screen shot, but I could have set it for 20% easily enough. I then went to the styles menu, created a new style, gave it a name, then went to the last style and dragged it up to the top left where you see it now. You have to look close.
It is not particularly obvious that the shapes are based on the font style just as much as the text is.

How to set default color and font?

Where do I set a default font and color for my outgoing mail? I looked in the preferences but when you change it there, it changes it for all emails, incoming and out going. Isn't there a way to have different fonts for the outgoing than for the incoming??

I'm glad that other people have had this problem too. I've spent hours on the web trying to find how to select the default composing font colour. I find it incredible that with all the options available in Mail and other mail applications that Apple haven't included this most basic of requirements. It would be lovely if someone from Apple would let us know why this has been left out and if they are going to put it in VERY soon, perhaps as a software update? Mac's still rule though :o)

Go to Administration > General Settings > System initialisation > General Settings and then go to the tab 'Display'. There you will find the field Colour, there you can set the colour, the system will save the colour you select.

How to set default font color in Pages

I don't know why. I did a standard clean install of iWork 08. In Pages, everytime I select to insert a text box, the color of the font defaults to brown rather than black. It's a pain to change it to black all the time. Also I noticed that when I select to insert a line, it also defaults to brown. Any thoughts on why this is happening as the default color and how to fix it?
Also, almost evertime I do the option click on the text box icon to draw a text box, the cursor changes to the crosshair but the box allows me to draw the with size, but the length of the column automatically can't be drawn- it extends instead all the way off the bottom of the page. In other words I can't really draw the text box to the size I need. I'm new to Pages.

How can I set a different default color for hyperlinks in Pages?
My company's style sheet dictates a particular color for hyperlinks; I'd like to be able to set that once rather than having to manually set the color each time.

Set BACKGROUND COLOR of checkbox to DEFAULT color of form

Does anyone know how to set the background color of a checkbox to the default color of the form? I have tried using SET_ITEM_PROPERTY to no avail. On a related issue, seems once any color is changed from "<UNSPECIFIED>" (i.e. default) to any other color, there is no way to return it to the "<UNSPECIFIED>" state.
Any insight would be appreciated!

To return to unspecified, click the property, then click the Inherit icon at the top of the property palette. Doing this should make the checkbox area (not the box itself) the same as the canvas color.

How to set the default Color Picker?

I wrote my own Color Picker and it works nicely within the standard apple color picker panel. I am quite annoyed, however, that I have to switch to my new Color Picker by hand every time I open the Color Picker Panel. I have found that I can set an application-speficic default color picker by setting the NSColorPickerSlidersDefaults property for that application using defaults. However, that way I can only set one of the original apple color pickers to be the default, not my own, because there is no number defined for my own color picker and I can't add it.
Does anyone know a solution please?

Is there a way to change the default colors for iPad apps?

I noticed one of my friends iPad 2 had a different color scheme for apps and I would like to change my iPad 2's default ( which is currently grey). To elaborate, the default color for the borders and tabs in Safari are grey on my iPad, my friends are blue. Would like to change from the drab grey color to blue also but I cannot find a setting for this. All applications and Setup apps have this default color scheme on my ipad. Do I have to reset the iPad and start over with setup to achieve this? Hope not, perhaps someone can shed some light on an easy way to do this. Thank You!

You can apply system-wise "negative" color effect under Settings > General > Accessibility, by toggling the White and Black switch - and, in iCab Mobile (and some other, better browsers / PDF readers), its own "night mode" negative color scheme.
Otherwise, no, you can't do anything else except for asking third party app authors to add selectable back/froeground (=text) colors to their apps.
