Setting default layer visibility in Acrobat 9 Standard

I just installed Acrobat 9 Standard after getting a Win7 x64 computer.  My old computer had Acrobat 7.5 Pro.  One of the features I need is the ability to change the default visibility of layers created by a PDF export from another program.  When I view the layer properties in Acrobat, everything is dimmed out.  Is the ability to interact with the layer properties a feature I can turn on somewhere?

Perhaps you will need Acrobat 9 Professional or Professional Extended.
The Acrobat product comparison page indicates such for:

  • How about setting default layer styles to 90 degrees by default?

Who ever really uses 120 degrees for anything? If I could count the number of times I've had to change my layer styles to 90 or 180 from the junky 120, I'd reach a number which doesn't exist because it's so damn big.
Fix this, or give users an option to set a default and designers will LOVE YOU.

There's also the "Make Default" button at the bottom of the Layer Styles dialogue box if you tend to use certain settings often.

Acrobat X Standard Bookmarks - How do I make the Zoom Level action default to "Fit Page"?
When I combine multiple pdf files into a single binder, Acrobat creates a bookmark for each file.  In the properties for each bookmark, there is an action created to go to the page in the document and has the zoom level at "fit width".  Question is, how do I change this apparent default zoom level to "fit page" when Acrobat creates the bookmarks when combining the pdf files?

Is there a way to do it in one step instead of individually on each bookmark?  This gets VERY cumbersome when I have upwards of a hundred bookmarks to change.

  • Acrobat X Standard defaults to non-existant printer

After uninstalling a Lexmark S310 printer for one specific user, we'll call them UserX, Acrobat X Standard still defaults to the Lexmark S310 printer even though it doesn't exist in Windows anymore. All other users it works correctly, this only affects 1 user, UserX. All other programs work fine for UserX. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with Adobe support who proceeded to tell me that Adobe doesn't store any information in users profiles and that it was a Windows problem, yet their software is the only one having a problem, a complete waste of 30 minutes. I have deleted all the Adobe profile information from c:\users\userx\appdata\local\adobe, c:\users\userx\appdata\locallow\adobe, and c:\users\userx\appdata\roaming\adobe and it still does the same thing. I am at my wits end and about ready to delete the profile and recreate. Anyone have any ideas so I don't have to go that far?

I should also mention that Acrobat does not show the new printer that has been installed. It's almost as if it's stuck in time, I just need to know how to refresh the printer information and "unstick" it

Accidently closed a Acrobat X Standard file without saving it, autosave is on, set for 5 minutes, but where do I find it?

    Hi Michael,
That is not how the autosave feature works. Autosave helps in situations where program crashes/freezes or power goes out (basically, in situations where user have no control over the system). Closing the file without saving is not considered as unexpected interruption; it is intentional for most of the users.
When you close, save manually, or revert to the last-saved version of a file, the autosave file is deleted. Adobe Acrobat X Pro * Saving PDFs

  • Set Default Value in Standard Transaction

    Hi all,
Does anyone know how to set a input value into a SAP Standard Transaction ?
That means when calling that transaction, it automatically set a value into it's input box.
    Thank you all.

    hi,
get the parameter id of the field that has to be populated  in the transaction.
write these lines in the program from where you call the transaction.
set parameter id 'KUN' field '30'.
    call transaction 'FD01'.
When you call the transaction you get the value that is set.

  • Acrobat X Standard "No valid sequence could be found for the set update. Error 1648"

I'm getting this error trying to install an update.
    I followed this process:
    1. Cleanup Acrobat (http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html).
    2. Delete everything from C:\ProgramData\Adobe\ARM
    3. Delete C:\Windows\Installer\10e2413d.msp
[I didn't do this step. No file with this name exists in this folder. I know it's hidden. I can see the folder and a bunch of other files].
    4. Install Acrobat X Standard.
The install went perfectly. The update did not. Tried twice, including reboots.
Any help is appreciated. But I have no technical knowledge. Easy, step-by-step instructions please.
PS Windows 7, Office 2013, Intel i7, 8GB RAM, system is running excellently... except for this.
    Thank you,
    Thomas Scott

    Bill and all,
I tried the steps I outlined above for the third time, more carefully going step-by-step and a reboot between each. The update installed this time.
I was using the update from Help > Check for Updates... Is that the right way to do it?
Good idea on the anti-virus. I have Microsoft Security Essentials. It's never interfered with my Adobe Acrobat or Photoshop updates before. But certainly can't hurt to turn that off to be sure it's not causing a problem this time.
I just did a reboot and selected Help > Check for Updates... again. No updates available and running 10.1.9. So it went to the latest update all by itself.
Thanks for the advice. I'm replying here for that and so others with the same problem may have one possible solution.
    Sincerely,
    Tom Scott

  • How to set default pag magnification to 100%

Whenever I open a PDF in Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard v9.1.2 it opens to 69.2% zoom magnification.
How can I set the default to open all PDF's at 100% zoom magnification?
    Thanks,
    Howard

    Regarding the OP:
"How can I set the default to open all PDF's at 100% zoom magnification?"
With Acrobat Pro, run a Batch Process (Sequence)/Action to run the "Open Options" sequence.
This sequence permits setting the values for all items under the Initial View tab of PDFs' Document Properties.
Regarding a PDF's Document Properties > Initial View:
Visit an open PDF's Document Properties (Ctrl+D, Cmd+D). Go to the Initial View tab. The top pane (Layout and Magnification) permits configuration of:
Navigation tab: Page Only | Bookmarks Panel and Page | Pages Panel and Page | Attachments Panel and Page | Layers Panel and Page
Page Layout: Default | Single Page | Single Page Continuous | Two-Up (Facing) | Two-Up (Cover Page) | Two-Up Continuous (Cover Page)
Magnification: Default | Actual Size | Fit Page | Fit Width | Fit Height | Fit Visible | Magnification percentages (25% to 6400%)
Configuration settings other than "Default" dictate how the PDF is viewed initially.
The settings for all values in all panes in the Initial View may be established for one or many PDFs by use of a Batch Sequence/Action (Acrobat Pro required).
This functionality is utilized in an enterprise environment where large document collections are deployed in a LAN/WAN "eLibrary" to provide a consistent initial view to end-users.
It also provides a content author a mechanism for establishing the initial view for *their* deployed content (such as PDF document collections distributed on optical storage media).
As to the typical default Initial View for a created PDF:
When a PDF is created via Acrobat the PDF document's default Initial View for Layout and Magnification is:
    --| Navigation: Page Only
    --| Page layout: Default
    --| Magnification: Default
    --| Open to page: 1
Regarding the Open Parameters document — While this document does provide a few command line options the document's primary focus is the use of a URL to open a URL's targeted PDF's initially opening.
Worth noting is that the document is specific for URLs and not applicable to UNC links (links with a LAN/WAN).
    Be well....

  • Can't see "Add or Edit Fields" menu in Acrobat 9 Standard v9.5.2

I am trying to edit the fields of an Adobe form from one of my co-workers.  We both are running Acrobat 9 Standard v9.5.2.  She is able to see the Forms-->"Add or Edit Fields" menu, while I cannot.
I cannot get this menu item to show?  Can someone tell me if there is an option or setting to enable so that I can get to this menu item?
Here is a screenshot of the form:
Here is a screenshot of the Adobe Acrobat version we are running:
    Thanks,
      Ted

Finally found a work around to my problem.  Here are the steps:
    (1) The original form.  Note missing "Add or Edit Fields" menu item.
    (2) Click on Document-->Extract Pages
    (3) The following dialog pops up.  Since I am only working with a 1 page form I accept the defaults and click OK.
    (4) The following window is launched.  Now I just save the newly generated form:
    (5) Now when I check the Forms menu, I finally see the "Add or Edit Fields" item:  Yay!!!!
    (6) In checking the Document Properties of the new form, the Application (PScript5.dll)  and PDF Producer (GPL Ghostscript 8.15) metadata is still the same as before:
Still don't know why I couldn't get to the "Add or Edit Fields" menu item in the original form.  After doing the Extract, now I am able to get to it.   At this point that's all I care about right now.
Thanks George for helping me investigate this issue!

  • Acrobat 11 Standard Office 2010 Pro Convert Word documents to PDF not working

    Adobe community,
I can create PDF's inside Word 2010 using the Acrobat Add-in but right clicking a Word document or dragging a Word document into Adobe Acrobat 11 Standard does not work. I have updated both Acrobat 11 and Office 2010 with the latest updates available. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi markl16215442,
In order to convert word document to PDF by right-clicking or dragging the file, you must have Adobe PDF printer installed.
For Windows, please check that Adobe PDF is set as default printer under "Start > Devices and Printers"
While for MAC, Adobe PDF printer option is no more available and as it was removed with some changes in Apple's policy regarding virtual printers.
So, check with your OS and then let me know.
    Regards,
    Anubha
