  • Set DISPLAY environment variable -- in DBCA not working at AIX OS

    Hi,

    Please help...

    Pravin wrote:
    How to set the DISPLAY environment variable in AIX?Usual format is:
    +<host>:<display-number>+
    E.g.
    export DISPLAY=192.168.0.235:1
    Where the host is the hostname or IP address of the client platform running a X-Server. If the X-Server is running locally, then this entry can be omitted.
    The display-number is the display number of the X-Server to use. A single X-Server can have multiple displays. E.g. Unix server running a X-Server can have 10 users connected via X-Terminals and will this have 10 displays.
    Judging from X-Windows questions asked on OTN, it seems to be a tad complex to grasp for some - especially those from a MS Windows background as X-Windows is very different and also reverses the client-server concept, requiring the X-Server component to be running on the client platform (where the server platform runs the program that is the X-client).
    So it is a lot easier to rather use something like VNC instead - supported on most Unix platforms, Linux, Windows and Apple's OS/X.
    Simply run the VNC server on the server platform to create a virtual container for running the X-server display. Connect from a client using a VNC client.
    As it uses the RFB (Remote Frame Buffer) protocol, it is a lot faster than running the slower and larger X11 protocol required for X-Windows connectivity over TCP/IP.

  • Setting up environment for display cluster verification

    Hello all,
    I am starting with a fresh project which needs image acquisition and verification of different display clusters, having different sizes.
    Firstly, I need to setup an ideal environment which would introduce minimal errors (like perspective error). I would be able to keep the camera mounted perpendicular to the display device. Apart from this point, what other points should I consider while setting up an environment for image acquisition? What points should I consider while building up a mounting structure for vision based inspection?

    Done.

    And what did you configure at the side of 192.168.100.159 which is supposed to be your client?
    I suggest you run VNC server on the server side ('vncserver') and set $DISPLAY to that. Next, use VNC viewer on your client machine to connect to the VNC server.
    Unless you have an X server running on your client machine of course.

  • Problem with Setting Display Mode

    Hello!
    I'm working on a game right now and i want to run it in fullscreen mode.
    Now this program sets up full screen mode just fine, however, it will not allow me to set the display mode.
    I'm using the standard full screen and set display mode calls. It worked just fine before, and now all of the sudden the program will not allow me to set the display mode (this is crucial so that i can set the resolution and the game will run at the proper size on all computers -- yes it may be a bit skewed but it should still work).
    Any ideas?
    Thank you!

    And now its working with the following code:
        private void setupFullScreen()
            //Sets up all the variables and such to go into Full Screen Mode
            //->Get Environment Vars
            GraphicsEnvironment graphicsEnvironment = GraphicsEnvironment.getLocalGraphicsEnvironment();
            GraphicsDevice devices[] = graphicsEnvironment.getScreenDevices();
            graphicsDevice = devices[0];
            //Setup FSMode
            setTitle("Invasion");
            origDisplayMode = graphicsDevice.getDisplayMode();
            DisplayMode mode = new DisplayMode(screenWidth,screenHeight,32,DisplayMode.REFRESH_RATE_UNKNOWN);
            //TEMP
            JButton exit = new JButton("Exit");
            exit.addActionListener(new ExitListener());
            getContentPane().add(exit, BorderLayout.NORTH);
            getContentPane().add(new TempColorPanel(screenWidth, screenHeight, this), BorderLayout.CENTER);
            if(graphicsDevice.isFullScreenSupported())
                setUndecorated(true);
                setResizable(false);
                graphicsDevice.setFullScreenWindow(this);
                if(graphicsDevice.isDisplayChangeSupported()){
                    graphicsDevice.setDisplayMode(mode);
                else{
                    graphicsDevice.setDisplayMode(origDisplayMode);
                    graphicsDevice.setFullScreenWindow(null);
                    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Your Computer Doesn't Support the Required Display Mode,\nGoing to Panelled Mode.");
                    setupPanelledWindow();

                JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Your Computer Doesn't Support this Graphics Mode,\nGoing to Panelled Mode.");
                setupPanelledWindow();

  • How to set DISPLAY for tomcat service inorder to run reports using rwrun.sh

    Here is my problem..
    I came to know that its not possible to invoke rwrun.sh without setting the DISPLAY environment variable from the servlet or any java program. But some one proposed me a solution that to set the DISPLAY variable for TOMCAT service from where my servlet invokes the shell script written for report generation using rwrun.sh. The user for tomcat service is wwwrun ..
    Do i need to set this variable in the logon script for this user ..but I couldn't find the .profile file for that.
    Is there any way to set this variable for tomcat service and get the report successfully.

    i gave export DISPLAY=aatsv001.local:0.0 in $ORACLE_HOME/bin/reports.sh
    but it gives me the following error when i invoke the report
    Xlib: connection to "aatsv001.local:0.0" refused by server

  • Where to set DISPLAY for Terminal

    In what file can I place "export DISPLAY=localhost:0.0" so I can call up X11 apps from a Terminal window?

    Hi Joe,
       Bill and Mihalis have excellent instructions for how to set the DISPLAY environment variable. I wish to make a suggestion about the value to which you set it. You don't have to set a hostname, just a number, in the display variable. An example would be:
    DISPLAY='.0'
    export DISPLAY
    If you do this, local UNIX apps will connect to the local X11 server via a UNIX socket, whereas if you use a fully-qualified domain name, they will try to connect via a TCP network connection. By default, Apple's X11 doesn't listen for network connections, (only socket connections) so of these two choices, only the former work. I'm not sure what is done when the host specification is localhost. I think it will work but I wanted to provide an alternative in case it doesn't.
       Be sure that you follow Bill's advice for putting the command that sets the DISPLAY variable in a conditional that tests to see if it already exists. Otherwise, you'll break secure shell's X window forwarding.

  • Setting DISPLAY variable for omniPortlet

    I'm trying to configure omniPortlet, but am having trouble getting it to recognise the DISPLAY environment variable configuration.
    I've tried setting DISPLAY to localhost:0.0 and then starting my portalTools OC4J container - however, the omniPortlet configuration page still shows DISPLAY as not configured.
    Is there anywhere else I should be configuring this value, or something I'm not doing correctly?

    the easiest way to test it is :
    - log in via telnet
    - set the display of your session to the setting you are trying to use in iAS
    - start e.g. xclock and check if the window pops up on the specified console
    you might run into issues like xhost + not being set or similar.

  • How to set display size of a Region or Dynamic Region?

    Hi,experts,
    In jdev 11.1.2.3,
    I drag and drop a task-flow into a jsf page to create a Region,
    and set display size for the region, source code as:
    ===================

    <af:decorativeBox theme="medium" id="db1">
    <f:facet name="center">
    <af:panelGroupLayout layout="scroll" id="pgl1"

    <af:region value="#{bindings.trainflow11.regionModel}" id="r1"
    inlineStyle="width:1200px;height:700px;"/>
    </af:panelGroupLayout>
    </f:facet>
    </af:decorativeBox>
    </f:facet>
    =================
    But, the Region is only showed a small fraction area on the parent jsf page whenever during design or run time.
    How to set display size of a Region or Dynamic Region?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    the decorative box is supposed to stretch components in the center facet, so at runtime the region should stretch. Can you try with a static region to see if this is an issue with dynamic regions?

  • Setting display

    Hallo friends.
    Today I bought new iPhone 5S. Please can you give me an advise how to set display ( background ) on this phone. I had an old iPhone 3G, but that's another phone. The problem with display is, that three quarters of the display is in normal color, and the rest of the display is as if under a cloud.
    Please let me know how to set this.
    Thank you so much.
    Bye Svata

    Hallo kb1951
    The gray part of the display is every time at the bottom of the screen. When you look to the task bar down, there are icons of iPhone, Mail, Safari and Music. And these icons are as if under a cloud. But the task bar is OK.
    The gray color ( cloud or shadow ) strikes to the icons Compass and Settings.
    I don't know how it explain better. When you look on a original packet of the iPhone 5S you can see it. But the gray bar strikes to the next icons, and the "shadow" is still on a display. You can turn anything you want, and the shadow is still visible
