Setting each Bookmark to Inherit Zoom is Painful!

Acrobat! I know you’re out there. Please listen!
Manually setting each bookmark to Inherit Zoom is painful! Literally!
My arm aches with each of the 8 clicks it takes to set EACH of the HUNDREDS of bookmarks in EACH document.
Please allow the one who creates Bookmarks to select what will be the DEFAULT for the document or for the application. I would dearly love to be able to set my default Bookmark to Inherit Zoom, what a fabulous time-saver that would be. And much less painful! I continually look for something to help me in this effort to no avail. I'm pleading with you to make this happen. My arms were not built to do this same repetitive motion for hours on end! It's pretty boring too, if it were not for the pain, I would be asleep.

Achilles77 are you saying that in Acrobat X the default is back to inherit zoom? If that is the case, then all of the issues we have been dealing with in the earlier versions would be resolved.  I have been experience the same issue in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro but since I am on an office computer, I can't load X until they authorize.  Please verify that the default zoom for all new bookmarks is reset to "inherit zoom" and not "fit page width".
Thanks.

  • Bookmarks and Inherit Zoom issues

Currently using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.
Why is there still no option to set the default zoom level while bookmarking? My work requires documents/bookmarks to be set to the "Inherit Zoom" option. Currently the only way I have been able to find to correct this is to set every bookmark individually. Not hard to do but when you have to set this for 1000's of bookmarks it gets very tedious and frustrating. Not to mention is a huge waste of time.
Please tell me that I have overlooked a feature to set or allow me to change this.
(I have seen posts of this nature but all seem to be out of date and none that referred to Adobe XI)
    Thank you!

No,  you didn't miss anything.  Here is a third party tool that picks up the slack though.  There is a try-out version of it so you can test it to make sure it does what you want but the description seems in line with what you want to achieve.

  • Some bookmarks won't do Inherit Zoom even after I edit them to Inherit Zoom

I have a PDF with many bookmarks, most of which are OK. But two of them won't use Inherit Zoom (even after I edit them and set it to Inherit Zoom).
I have two others that work OK when I click on bookmark, but when I link to them (TOC, for example), they don't use Inherit Zoom (even after I edit the link and bookmark to Inherit Zoom).
How can I deal with these four problematic bookmarks?
    Thanks, Art

  • How do you set the zoom level to Inherit Zoom for all bookmarks in a pdf?

How do you set the zoom level to Inherit Zoom for all bookmarks in a pdf?

I made an account just to "like" your comment and say that you are a god among men.
I've been searching for hours about how to make the zoom level persistent throughout following links in various PDF's I have, and most sources were saying to just buy acrobat pro and edit the bookmarks manually with it.
I saw that it was possible to write an application to change the property, and considered doing it after the only pre-existing custom application I could find was asking for $50.
Thanks to you, I no longer have to worry about re-zooming every time I click a bookmark, and I'm not out $50 or the time it would take to code an app myself!
From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

  • How do I create a link to the middle of a page with Inherit Zoom?

I keep going around and around on this.  I am using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro and I'm trying to create an internal link in the PDF to go to the middle of the page somewhere else in the same document.  I don't want to change the user's zoom level.
I can create a bookmark that does this by adding tags and having the bookmarks created from those tags (which is a ludicrious process, but at least a way).  But links don't seem to attach to bookmarks or tags.
I can create a link that does exactly this by creating a document in MS Word, using styles and links to those styles and then saving it as a PDF.  So I know the PDF itself can do this, I just can't figure out how to do it through Adobe.
Is there any way to create a link to a tag or to a bookmark?  Setting a link to Page View always changes the zoom level, and then if I change the zoom back to Inherit Zoom the link just goes to the top of the page.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you,
       Chris

Hrm, I feel like I'm just missing something obvious.  Here are the exact steps I'm taking:
Have zoom level up high enough so you're only seeing part of a page.
    Click "Add or Edit Link"
Draw a box around the text.
    Link Appearance:
    Link Type: Invisible Rectangle
    Highlight Style: Invert
Link Action: Go to a page view
    Click "Next"
Scroll down so I'm looking at the middle of the next page.
    Click "Set Link".
Right-click on the link-box and click "Properties..."
Click "Actions" tab and then "Edit" and change the Zoom to "Inherit Zoom".  "OK" back to the page.
Change zoom level, use the hand icon and click on the link.
I'm taken to the top of the correct page and my zoom level doesn't change.  I am not taken to the middle of that page, though.
    Do you experience different behaviour?

  • 1 set of bookmarks on all devices?

Got iMac, iPahon Macbook Air, and iPad.
Each has a set of bookmarks with more or less the same things but many things with different names.
Now I get dozens of duplicates in all bookmarks as iCloud "syncs"
Any way to get just 1 set across all three?
    Will this work:
    1. Turn of iCould Bookmark sync
    2. Del bookmarks on three of four devices.
    3. Repair remaining set of bookmarks as desired.
    4. turn on iCloud sync again.
    Thanks

This took me a alot of playing around to get things working correctly. I was having the exact same duplication issues everyone else was having. Here's how I managed to get things working correctly.
    1. Turn off bookmark syncing on every single OS X and iOS 5 device you own.
    2. Select a "master" computer where you can clean up your bookmarks. Export your current bookmarks to play it safe.
    3. Now clean up your bookmarks so they are setup exactly how you want them. While you're doing this make sure you deleted every single "folder" listed in the bookmarks pane on the left side of the browser window. The actual book marks that are displayed are the ones listed under the "collections" line. The blue extras being sync from iCloud.
    4. Exported the "clean" bookmarks.
    5. Turn on iCloud bookmarks syncing and agree to the merge.
    6. Go to every other OS X and iOS device and delete bookmark on all these devices.
    7. By now the only thing on iCloud will be the cleaned up bookmarks from the "master" computer. Turn on iCloud bookmarks syncing on one of your devices and wait for the bookmarks to sync.
    8. Once you know that the second device has synced correctly (it will if you deleted all the extra stuff as directed) then try your next device and continue with all your remaining devices.
This will work as you expect it to as long as you clean EVERYTHING out of the folder collections from the "master" computer. From this point forward things will sync nicely.
    Hope this helps!

  • Import Standard set of Bookmarks

I would like to deploy a standard set of bookmarks to users without overwriting their existing bookmarks. I would like this to happen each time the user launches FF to ensure they always have this set of bookmarks. Would using 'browser.places.importbookmarkshtml' be sufficient, or do I have to modify the user.js file for the setting to remain 'true'? Also, how do I specify the location of the bookmarks file?
I should also mention that I currently have the 'browser.bookmarks.autoexporthtml' set to 'true' with a path defined in the 'browser.bookmarks.file' setting.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks.

Sorry, I don't recall seeing this pref - '''browser.places.importbookmarkshtml''' - where have you seen that pref listed or referenced?
''Also, that pref doesn't look "correct", like maybe "browser.places.importBookmarksHtml" being closer to what Mozilla might have used as a pref name.''
    ''As "browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML" rather than "browser.bookmarks.autoexporthtml".''
I wonder if that "browser.places.importbookmarkshtml" is a very old pref?
With a search of the Mozilla Developer Network, this page comes up first.

I don't see direct mention about that pref, but I do see that many features went obsolete as of Gecko 14 (which equates to Firefox 14).
And nothing here either - https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Tech/XPCOM/Reference/Interface/nsINavBookmarksService

  • I have two sets of bookmarks, one under "Bookmarks Toolbar" and one under "Bookmarjs Menu," and they are not totally similar. What's going on?

I use Bookmarks toolbar. When I want to save a site, the browser asks which folder to place it in; however I have two somewhat different sets of bookmarks that Firefox stores, and I'm never sure which set is the one being saved to. I have only one profile, checked that. Firefox 4.0 is an upgrade from 3.6.16.

    * The Bookmarks Toolbar folder stores the bookmarks that you see on the (View > Toolbars >) Bookmarks Toolbar.
    * The Bookmarks Menu folder stores bookmarks that you see in the Bookmarks menu and create via "Bookmarks > Bookmark This Page" or "Bookmark This Link" in the right click context menu.
    * The Unsorted Bookmarks folder stores that bookmarks that are created by clicking the star at the right end of the location bar.
Clicking the star in the location bar will bookmark the page in the "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder and the star turns yellow (blue on Mac) to show that.<br />
Bookmarks > "Bookmark This Page" (Ctrl+D or use Alt+B) will bookmark the page in the Bookmarks Menu folder (you need to confirm that).

  • I have firefox on 2 computers and there are different bookmarks on the 2 computers. If I sync them, will I have on set of bookmarks that includes both?

I have 2 Macs, a Mac pro tower and a Macbook pro. Since I use both computers, I have 2 sets of bookmarks with some overlap between the two. I would like to sync them so that I can access bookmarks that I created on one computer on the other one. The question is, if I perform a sync, will the two sets become a single set including all the bookmarks on both machines or will I end up erasing one of the sets? Also, if I have the same bookmark on both machines, will I end up with redundant bookmarks? Thanks for your help.

Ideally the bookmarks will merge, however if there are duplicates on either machines, I do not know where these bookmarks will sync to, I have not tested this yet.
    Redundant bookmarks should be removed.

  • I need to combine 2 sets of bookmarks in one computer. One set was just replaced -- how do I get it back and add it to the second?

I am combining the contents of 2 computers into one new computer. I did a file transfer from the first, which transferred all of my bookmarks and passwords; when I did a file transfer from the second, it replaced the bookmarks and passwords that had already transferred. I want BOTH sets together as one Bookmark list in my new computer. How do I find the set that has just been replaced and add it to the second transfer?
One last thing -- I can still access the computer from the second transfer, but the first has been wiped clean. I wish I had known that the bookmarks would be replaced before I did the second transfer.

Keep this in mind, when you are restoring a JSON backup it will '''replace''' existing bookmarks (same thing with swapping in a places.sqlite file). When you '''import''' in HTML format, those bookmarks will be '''appended''' to the existing bookmarks.
I think what you need to do is to recover the backup from just before you attempted to add the second set of bookmarks - hope that Firefox automatically backed them up before you replaced them (very strong probability that was done '''if''' you closed Firefox between the two restorations, but if you didn't close and restart Firefox between those actions it may not have happened). That should give you the bookmarks from the first PC that is wiped clean. - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Lost+Bookmarks#w_restoring-bookmark-backups
Then do an '''export''' into HTML format on the 2nd PC that is still operational. '''Import''' that bookmarks.html into the PC you are working on, to add them to the existing bookmarks. <br />
    Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks -> Import & Backup - Export HTML... - to a USB stick <br />
    '''''then''''' <br />
Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks -> Import & Backup - Import HTML... - from file on that USB stick

  • How do i bring back the little icon marks next to each bookmarked item in bookmarks? After the most recent update, theyve vanished.

After i updated my laptop with the latest 9.0.1 Firefox i seem to have lost the icons next to each bookmark under bookmarks.
Having the icons next to each bookmark made locating the bookmark i desired much easier.

  • How do I get rid of the little box to the left of each bookmark in the bookmark toolbar?

On my bookmarks toolbar, there is a little box to the left of each bookmark. The box causes the bookmarks to take up too much space, thus limiting the number of bookmarks I can get on the bar without using dropdowns. I don't like the little boxes, I don't want the little boxes. Please tell me how to get rid of the little boxes.

Those are icons, but you would still need to leave some space between the text labels.
This is code I found here:
    * http://www.linnhe2.free-online.co.uk/firefox/chrome.html#Hide%20Bookmark%20toolbar%20icons
    <pre>#personal-bookmarks .toolbarbutton-icon {
    display: none !important;
    }</pre>

  • How do I remove the Icons next to each bookmark on the bookmark toolbar? They take up too much space and all the bookmarks I need on the toolbar dont show up.

On my bookmarks toolbar, each bookmark has the associated webpage icon next to it. I would like to remove those icons, as they take up too much space.
    Thanks

The icons, if you are familiar with them or they are obvious, take up less space than the words. You can abbreviate the names down to next to nothing or even nothing.
To save space and help organization you can group bookmarks into folders on your Bookmarks toolbar.
