Setting folder size

In KM how to set the size of the folder,in order to Restrict the user in entering the large amount of the data?

If you have a disk thay offers a filesystem with 10 GB and you create a directory in this dilesystem than it could contain up to 10 GB (which includes your 300 MB).
So, in essence just create a directory in a filesystem (or disk in Windows) that is large enough to contain the 300 MB.

    Hi Nagaraja,
    welcome to SCN!
You posted a common question here in the KM forums and I will try to update it into the Wiki. If you search for this topic you will find similar answers like: Restricting the folder size of the KM Repositories pointing to the existing Weblog.

  • Sccm Client Cache folder size growing instead of limit set

    Hi Everyone.
    Greetings.
We have noticed that in our sccm environment, the cache folder size (under CCM path) in clients keeps increasing but however it should not as i believe the older contents automatically to be removed while downloading new contents.
The cache folder to download the contents as by default set to 5GB and we haven't modified anything on that.
Please suggest us on this as it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Thangaraj

    Hi Jason,
Yes. However we are using software distribution as well.
We noticed recently this large size CCM folder (19GB) in one of our server as C drive is running out of space.
But when i looked at the contents inside that CCMCache folder, below are the findings.
The content size of all the advertisements are around 18GB.
The content size of software updates are around 1GB.
MS KB patches, Service packs are pushed through software advertisement(present inside folder named as package ID. So it cannot be considered as software updates deployment right?
    Please suggest. Thanks.

Trouble is, when I next open the folder it is centred but much smaller! Is threre a way to keep it as I want?

  • How to set the size for height of iView tray?

    Hi,
I have created a ABAP webdynpro component and integrated this comp with iView. Then i integrated iView into Page in portal. That is working fine.
But the size of tray/window which is displayed in the page is very small.
How to increase the height of that Tray/window/iView containing my component?

    Hi,
By changing the maximum automatic height and Minimum automatic height property of the iview you can set the size for height of your iview.
to do this follow the setps:
goto content administrator -> portal content -> your folder where you created your iview or directly to your iview -> right click -> open -> object,
and now in property category choose appearance-Size from the drop down menu and set the above properties to your required height.
if you want the end user to modify this property set the property to read/write .

  • Is there a way to set target size in Compressor

I know this may be too general of a question, but i'd really like to find a way to set the size of a compressed file. I have to upload videos to and online host server and my max is 1.5 GB. right now i have to fool around and try different codecs to see how big they are and sometimes i have 20-30 minute videos. and it's pretty poor work flow to wait an hour to encode only to find out that it's way tpp small or way too big.
also any suggestions on which codec i should use to upload videos from 15 seconds to 30 minutes with a 1.5 GB size cap would be great
    thanks

I'll answer your first question first.
Best codec for quality is H.264, one good settings folder is the following:
Settings tab>Apple>Other workflows>Web>QT7 compatible>Pick your H.264 setting (For flv you'll need a third party plugin or software).
You want to know how big your file is going to be before encoding?
Choose your setting. Set your preferred bit rate then in Inspector window click on the "summary" button (first from left before the encoder button).
Look carefully through the listed info, there you'll find out what the estimated file size is. If you change bit rate again the estimated size will change too.

  • Share Point folder size limit - File Services

I created a new folder inside a share point using Server Admin. Is there a way to set a folder size limit (quota) for that folder.
P.S. I am NOT talking about user accounts quotas for home folders created using Workgroup Manager! ...Just any new folder created, to be used on any volume, is there a way to set a mamimum size?
For example I have a 1TB volume on my Xserve RAID. I create a new folder but want to set its maximum capacity to 200GB. Is that possible?
Thank you very much in advance for any feedback.

There's no direct way to set a limit on a folder size.
The 'simplest' method I can think of is to create partitions on your disk of the appropriate sizes and share these - they will have inherent size limits based on the size of the partition. It's a little messier but should solve your issue.
:: thinking :: you might be able to use disk images rather than partitions, although I've never tried sharing a mounted disk image, and you'd need to address automounting the disk images when the server starts, so it might not be viable.

  • Folder size is twice that of its contents????

Startup Disk > Users > Username
My Username folder shows a folder size that is just about double the size of all of its visible folders.  I can see this when viewed in the Finder in List View with Folder Size Shown as my default View setting.    Any idea how I can figure out what is going on?
    thanks
    Brad

    Topher,
Before I saw your reply, I emptied my trash and that brought the folder size down to what it should be to match its contents.  I should have remembered that.  None the less, I did what you suggested once I read your message and here it is:

  • Search on Folder size?

    Hi, everyone.
When I use command-F to search in Finder, the Folder Size option doesn't seem to work at all. Whenever I type some number (ie, greater than 1 kb), nothing was found. Is this function broken? Nor does the Size of Application or the File pathname work also.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Hi Tempura
I believe that both Mike and I haven't yet to experience a corrupt index. Certainly in one case, I initiated it myself.
Although there appears a number have, if you analyse the postings, you find that more than not, the issues are not related to corrupt indexes.
Many issues are simply not understanding Spotlight, setting the Preference pane improperly, not letting Spotlight do a proper and complete indexing, messing around with the System prefs, not running Disk Utility to repair permissions after installing, updating or revising applications and the OS, insufficient ram, trying to index CDs, DVDs, servers, etc.
Personally, I find Spotlight amazing fast and accurate except when I have forgotten that I had adjusted the Preferance pane. I have tested various third-party products, and have tossed them out. Not that I don't share their unique functionalities, I just haven't found it to be advantageous to have them on board. Note that if you do install any third-party app, check to see how it may affect Tiger and all its utilities. There are some that will reset the preferences including Spotlight's and its ability to index.
If you haven't as yet, Apple and The XLab (the book especially) have some great stuff on Spotlight that is well worth reading. I say this, because no doubt, Spotlight is not going away and the introduction of Leopard will advance it even further, e.g., as described (http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/spotlight.html), and certainly in Time Machine.
    Good luck
    Daniel

  • Folder size

    Hi there,
I've created an encrypted folder but have since run out of space in it. Is there any way to increase the size of the folder without having to delete it and start from scratch?
    Cheers,
    Matt

You can resize a diskimage using Terminal.
    example:
    hdiutil resize -size 80m testenc.dmg
This increases the size of testenc.dmg to 80 Mbytes
    Open Terminal and type
    hdiutil resize -size
set the size as per the format above, and then drag the .dmg file into Terminal to set the path.
    Press return.

  • Folder size indication

It would be helpful when in folder view to be able to see the size of the folder - I fill folders until they are a DVD-worth and then archive and create a new folder (DAM approach). Currently I have to go to windows to see the size and then back to Bridge to decide what to do next.
A folder size indication when folder on Content panel + perhaps a right click to give properties etc. as per Windows.

This is about as minimal as Finder lets it get -
As far as I can tell that arrangement is displayed only when viewing the Desktop.
Finder uses a slightly longer one for a window whose view is set to Icon -
...and the one I posted previously for windows whose view is set to List.
In Finder, there is actually only one View Options display and it is live; what is shown in it will change as you change the view mode for a window, and also will change to reflect the choices/settings if you click on a different window.
Perhaps Path Finder has altered how that behaves. However, try some experimenting. Open the View Options display, and then try navigating into a nest of folders. Try highlighting different things in the Path Finder displays - the name of a folder in a list, the name of a column display, etc. At some point you may be able to access the long form for the particular folder's window.
On the other hand, Path Finder seems to act by changing how Finder's info is displayed. In doing so, it may also be interfereing with Finder's ability to present applicable choices in the View Options screen (perhaps because Finder is not coded to understand Path Finder). If you determine that is indeed the case, suggest you send a 'bug' report back to the publisher, explaining the problem and asking them to fix it in a future release of Path Finder.

  • Folder size in hard drive

How can I set the preferences to calculate the size of folders on the hard drive?

    Hi Dave,
You can see the folder sizes in List View.
While in List View, under the View Menu, select "Show View Options",
then check the boxes for "Size" and "Calculate all sizes"
Note while in List view, you can then sort by size by clicking on the Size column header. You can also reverse the sort by clicking it again. This works with any column header.

  • Folder Size in Explorer, Windows 7

    Dear Readers:
I would like to know if Windows 7 includes the option to view Folder Size in the Explorer window interface (an option similar to viewing [file] Size)?  I have attempted to use various software to do this in Windows Vista such as Tree Size Professional but the help files say that Windows Vista does not allow viewing of Folder Sizes in Explorer.
    Sincerely,

For those who like to roll their own,  this VB Script code will work with Windows 7 and show a simple list with folders and sizes from a cmd prompt.  You can specify the depth.  It's very fast.  Run with no parameters for instructions.
