Setting Fonts and In Conversation Fonts different - why?

Hi there,
I am wondering why, when I am in a conversation, I am able to choose a font (like Kalinga, for example) that when I try and change it in my Lync settings as a default - does not exist as a choice.
I don't understand how Kalinga (and other fonts) are not available from the Options menu in Lync, but can be selected from the font options when I'm actually in a conversation with someone. Any idea why this is the case? Can you import other fonts into Lync?
Thanks!

I tested with Lync 2010, I have the same behavior.
With Lync 2013, I can choose the font Kalinga and other fonts in Lync setting.

  • How to set SMB and FTP sharing for different users?

In Tiger FTP and SMB sharing was different options with their own settings each other. In Leopard there if i enable user for sharing, it enables for all protocols together.
Another problem. In file sharing i can add shared folder, but what's sens of it, if the whole filesystem is shared (at least FTP and AFP, not SMB, thanks god) and there's no way to remove this share. Just shortcut? How can i create ftp sharing, allowing user to see only his folder, not the whole filesystem?
Any advices are pleased, except to get Leopard Server Thank you.

OS X Client FTP implementation is not comprehensive at all. Apple does not make FTP serving a priority for OS X (on the general principle that it is not really necessary for most consumers). Thus, by default you can't enable/disable FTP for individual users. Nor can you create FTP only users.
However, a useful product called [Pure-FTPd|http://www.pureftpd.org/project/pure-ftpd], provides the missing functionality for free to all UNIX based systems. Even better, [PureFTPd Manager|http://jeanmatthieu.free.fr/pureftpd> provides a GUI on OS X for managing it.
This product is probably overkill for a single-user situation - but it is a great example of leveraging the UNIX platform of OS X to significantly enhance file sharing capabilities to server level.
    Cheers,
    Rodney

  • Setting items and branching to a different app via a report column link

    Hi,
I'm figuring out how to branch to another application by using a URL redirect and contructing the target URL with items and item values to pass to the target app. So far, so good. But I'm now trying to branch to another app via a column link from a report form (I had previously branched to a page within the same app, but that page should really be another app, callable from several sources). Before, I had also set several items (in the calling app). Now, when I choose to re-direct to a URL, rather than a page in the current application, the item and value setting boxes get disabled. Is there a way to also set current page items (that are not being passed to the target app) at the time the link is redirected?
    Frank

    Frank,
It's easy. Just type in the relative f?p URL along with the item names/item values, e.g., to redirect to app 200 page 20 from your app's page 1 passing P1_ITEMA and P1_ITEMB into similarly named items on page 20 type in:
    f?p=200:20:&APP_SESSION.::NO::P20_ITEMA,P20_ITEMB:&P1_ITEMA,&P1_ITEMB.
Note that redirecting to another application may require the user to authenticate to that application. If that is your intent there is no need to include &APP_SESSION. in the link.

  • Font differs from Linux and Windows ?

Hi, i just want to ask, are fonts different from windows and linux in applet. I use a standard courier font.
For example, if i make an applet with courier font texts in linux, and make the texts wrap themselves, they will run ok in linux. But if i run the compiled applet in windows, the wrapped text somewhow got truncated.
But if i compile the applet in windows, it will look ok in linux and windows.
I've tried replacing my courier fonts in my /usr/java/jdk/jre/lib/fonts/cour*.ttf with the cour*.ttf from c:\windows\fonts with no effects .. Applets compiled and run ok in linux doesnt work in windows. They must be compiled in windows to run ok in both.
    Why is that ?
Does the compilation use the fonts in the jdk lib or the system fonts ?
    I'm so confused T_T

How do I get Mac OS 10.4.4 and Word X for Mac to see
all the characters in the Word for PC document
    formatted in Times New Roman?
There's no way with Office X, which can't do Unicode Greek. You need to upgrade to Office 2004 which is Unicode-savvy and installs in your Mac the same Times New Roman with Greek, Cyrillic, Hebrew, and Arabic which is used by WinXP. An alternative might be AbiWord or NeoOffice/J.

  • Fonts different between CS3 and CS5 on Win7 system using the same fonts directory

I have several files created in Fireworks CS3 that work fine. Fonts are all  installed in the system directory on my Win7 box.  This used to be a WinXP Pro  box.
I can load a file into Fireworks CS3 without a single issue and the text all  looks perfect. The way it should.  Close CS3, open CS5 and load the same file  and CS5 tells me I have to update my fonts.  Why?  Same system, same fonts in  the same fonts directory. Only thing that's changed is that I'm opening the  file(s) in CS5.
The fonts do not look the same in CS5.  Am I going to have to redo every  Fireworks CS3 file so that it looks correct in CS5? If so, why?
    -- Bob
Here's a sample image the way it's supposed to look. The Swift gets hosed. PlazaDUtil is the font. I'd hate to have to redo all my logo files.

Prior to CS4 Fireworks used the Macromedia type engine. From CS4 forward, adobe introduced the adobe type engine to improve text handling/integration between FW AI and PS. As a result moving CS3 files over to cs4 forces FW to update the fonts.

  • Help needed on setting fonts up

I've consulted my Linux books for this, I've read the Wiki, I've searched the forum and read dozens of different threads concerning this topic; I've searched the net and read tons of different stuff there as well; I've tried different configurations and to understand, what's really going on, but the only thing that helped a little bit in the end was adding the following in my xorg.conf (strange though, I never had to do this in Zenwalk and its not there in my xorg.conf either):
    Option "UseEdidDpi" "false"
    Option "DPI" "96 x 96"
Fact is, my fonts still look like crap and the only thing I haven't tried yet is editing the /etc/fonts/local.conf and ~/.fonts.conf, simply due to the fact that both files don't exist on my Arch system. Do I have to set them up myself?
And if you have any further recommendations what can be done to make fonts look good, they are very welcome!
    Thanks in advance.

    Thank you!
But I guess I have to accept the fact that, for whatever reason (which is beyond my understanding), fonts look different in Arch Linux.
I've installed the ttf-ms-fonts, ttf-dejavu and ttf-bitstream-vera fonts already. I've also installed artwiz-fonts, but Xfce doesn't find them, so there must've been gone something wrong already. I've also consulted the Wiki already and read different entries there concerning fonts. I've also checked the Gentoo Linux Wiki Howto Xorg & Fonts. I've ran fc-cache, mkfontscale and mkfontdir. The only thing I haven't done yet is creating a soft link like this:
    ln -s /usr/share/fonts/encodings/encodings.dir yourfontdirectory/encodings.dir
Because I don't quite understand this soft link (my font directory is /usr/share/fonts ?).
Finally, I have created a /etc/fonts/local.conf file. But neither this nor everything else I've tried up to now has helped really. Only adding the DPI stuff to my xorg.conf has changed the fonts to a reasonably size. But that's about it.
I add some screenshots to demonstrate what I'm talking about.

  • [Solved] css setting font family, ff3 vs ie7

In my css, I've set 'font-family: sans;' in body { }, and in ff3 on my Arch laptop, it displays correctlly. In ie7 on my wifes vista laptop, it still reverts back to w/e serif font it uses if it can't find one set by the web page. I have no idea why this is happening, and I can't seem to fix it. Can anyone give me a hand?

Agh, well, I looked at thayer's blog to see if that worked in both browsers and it did, so I checked to see how he had his fonts set up.
    font-family: Arial, DejaVu Sans, sans-serif;
The closest I got to that was 'font-family: Arial, DejaVu, sans;'

  • Set font size for ChoiceGroup

    Hi,
Is there any way to set font size of the String elements of ChoiceGroup

    Hi,
Yes, there is, but only if you're using MIDP2.0.
Check the API documentation of ChoiceGroup and see that there's a setFont(.., ..) method. The given index (int value) identifies the index of the element in the list for which the font will be set. This means that different elements in one choicegroup can have different fonts.
Test it carefully, I've noticed that not all devices show correct behaviour on this. Also note that certain devices ignore certain font settings (for example italics, because a lot of native implementations won't have a font in italics).
    Good luck!
