Setting GPIB primary address 31

I'm adding a GPIB interface to my existing VC++ 6.0 Windows app using NI's NI-488.2 device driver. I understand that valid primary addresses (PAD) are 0 to 30. However, I have one customer with an HP8569A that expects to plot to GPIB PAD 31. This address is evidently hardcoded into the 8569A with no way to change it.
If I try to set PAD 31 in NI-488.2 I get an EARG error, which is understandable. My question is this: Can I set PAD 31, ignore the error produced, and have NI-488.2 respond to PAD 31 data? In other words, would NI-488.2 respond to PAD 31 the same way it would respond to say PAD 30?
Thanks,
Mike

I'm not sure that this is possible. What addressing command byte does a device at PAD31 expect? When addressing a device at PAD30 to listen, NI-488.2 will send 0x3E. The command byte that would be associated with making PAD 31 listen is 0x3F. 0x3F is called the "unlisten" message. This will cause all devices addressed to listen to transition out of the listening state.
I know that NI-488.2 will not handle the PAD 31 device, nor do I know how any other driver could handle it. You could try using board-level calls and do the addressing yourself with ibcmd.
Is the device possibly using secondary addressing? Is it possibly using PAD 30 with SAD 1?

Hello. How to programming for GPIB Primary Address 0 and 31?

Make sure no other instruments are at addresses 0 and 31. National Instruments GPIB controllers default to primary address 0, so if you want to use an instrument at primary address 0, you should change the address or your controller. You can do this by using the ibpad function.

  • How to get GPIB Primary Address

I'm using a device with a NAT9914 chipset and I would like to read the address from a register on the chipset. Is it possible? The only address register in write-only...
    Thanks,
    Michael

The best way to find the primary address (PAD) of the chip is to store it in a variable that can be accessed later. The ADR register is write-only and there are no status registers that have this information.

  • Primary address and Secondary Address of GPIB while configure the software for NI7210 chip

I am using your latest linux software i.e. nigpib_linux_0.8.5 to install my GPIB Card. I have sucessfully installed it. But at the time of configuration i am getting the problem about the Primary and Secondary address of GPIB bus. Can u please tell which address should i use for these?

    Hi Ankur,
You can use any driver as long as is unique on the bus. Just select a primary address, there is n o need for a secondary address (disable it).
But more importantly, the linux driver does not work with the NI7210 chips. This driver is intended for interfaces using the TNT4882C GPIB controller.
Make sure you have a board with this ASIC.

  • Setting the From Address for Reply in Mail

I am having trouble setting the default “From” address for replies in Mail. When I click on “Reply” the new window opens with a default mail address I do not wish to use. This can be changes by going into the drop down box and setting a different one. This is time consuming and it is easy to send from an inappropriate address.
“Help” menu says that the default address ( top one in the drop down box) can be changed and gives these instructions:
    Set the From address
Your messages are sent from the account of the currently selected mailbox. If you have multiple email accounts, you can specify a different account to use for sending all messages, or select an account just for the message you’re writing.
To specify the account to use for sending all messages, choose Mail > Preferences, click Composing, and then choose an account from the “Send new messages from” pop-up menu.
To specify an account just for the message you’re writing, click the From pop-up menu, and then choose an email address.
To change the order in which addresses are listed in the pop-up menu, reorder the addresses in the “Email address” field in the Account Information pane of Mail account preferences.
When I open the Mail Account Preferences and go to Account Information there is no list of addresses in the “Email address” just the one for the particular account highlighted in the left column eg. “[email protected]” or “[email protected]” .
I tried to move the order of the accounts in the left hand box but nothing wants to move. Clicking and holding to push one account over another seems not to work.
Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this?
NB: This is about "Reply". Default for "New Message" is setting fine.

i found out how to do this finally!
    1) set up google gmail account to forward your emails to (from the [email protected])
    2) go to your gmail account
    3) go to settings (cog in right hand corner)
    4) go to 'accounts and import'
    5) go to 'send mail as'
    6) click 'Add another email address you own' - add your [email protected] address
    7) google will send a verification email with code to that email address.
    8) enter code
    9) go back to gmail account  >'send mail as' and select 'make default'
    10) close mac 'mail' program and reopen it.
as long as you have gmail account selected as the primary account in MAIL - mail will now come throught as being sent from that  [email protected] address!!

  • Error ibtsta: (1) set gpib(0), status 0X8100 returned when 0X100 expected

During install of a GPIB-ENET/100 device and the associated NI-488.2 v1.4 software and running the ibtsta utility (to check for proper software install) I recieve multiple errors the first of which is: (1) set gpib(0), status 0X8100 returned when 0X100 expected

    To: Steven B.,
I am using "GPIB Getting Started with Your GPIB-ENET/100 and NI-488.2 for HP-UX", guide March 2001 Edition, P/N 322987A-01 to help me with the installation of a GPIB-ENET/100 device on a HP-UX Workstation.
    Our System Information:
    1. We are using HP-UX 10.2
    2. We have a "E154502 24 AWG CMR (UL) VERIFIED CATAGORY 5 PATCH CABLE ALLEN TEL PRODUCTS CSA LL97744 AWM I/II A/B FT4" blue cable connected from a "LINKSYS FAST ETHERNET 10/100 5-PORT NETWORK HUB" port 1 to a "GPIB-ENET/100" device.
We also have a "HITACHI DATA MASTER CATAGORY 5e -- HCM 4PR/24 AWG (UL) TYPE CM c(UL) -- TYPE FT4 -- (UL) -- VERIFIED TO TIA/EIA -- 568 -- B.2 CAT 5e -- 5/02 (A3394) 180738" green cable connected from the network port on our "STANDARD C3600 HP-UX CONTROLLER SERVER" to the "LINKSYS FAST ETHERNET 10/100 5-PORT NETWORK HUB" port 2.
    3. We have TCP/IP installed on our UNIX controller.
    4. We are using NI-488.2 Version 1.4.
    Also:
Upon power up the PWR/RDY LED blinks red/yellow rapidly. After approx. 30-60 seconds later the PWR/RDY LED stays constant.
According to the guide because we are not connected to the network and therefore no DHCP is available, our GPIB-ENET/100 device should automatically go into network configuration mode recognized by the PWR/RDY LED continuing to blink red/yellow rapidly. This however does not happen. We have entered network configuration mode manually by holding down the CFG RESET switch for approx. 3 seconds. After this we run the EthernetConfig utility and we get the following results:
IP ADDRESS/HOSTNAME ETHERNET ADDRESS SERIAL NUMBER MODEL COMMENT
    (0) *busy* 00:80:2F:0A:30:6B
When we try to view properties of the device we get the message: No device found.
We also performed the steps per Chapter 2, page 2-1 installing the software and running the instgpib utility. We followed the instructions that appeared and everything seemed to install fine. After we were having trouble above we decided to check the software installation using the ibtsta utility per 5-1 in the "GPIB Getting Started with Your GPIB-ENET/100 and NI-488.2 for HP-UX" guide. We got several errors of which this one shown is the first:
Error: (1) set gpib(0), status 0X8100 returned when 0X100 expected. Error ENEB returned.
Also, I cannot find the UNIX instruction or variable iberr anywhere. Can you tell me how I can find out the value of iberr?
    Thank you,

  • Setting up email addresses

I have just signed up for BT broadband and I have selected the primary address. However, other members of the family need to set up addresses before the service goes live in order to ensure they receive important emails just after the service goes live. Is there a way to select the secondary addresses?

  • RE6500 system time not set and, why set a DNS address?

How do I set the RE6500 system time to current day if it's showing January 1970?  It is connected to the router on both frequencies and the extender output is working on both frequencies. I have set the RE6500 to a static address of 192.168.1.3 as the router address is 192.168.1.1.  In the RE6500 the default gateway is set to the router address of 192.168.1.1.  Is it necessary to set the DNS address in the RE6500 as the router is the default gateway?

Hi Chadster766;  thanks for the prompt reply.  I tried using the external primary DNS address set in the router - saving and rebooting - and when that didn't work, I used the same IP address as the router 192.168.1.1.  That didn't work either; I did a warm re-boot of the computer after setting the DNS in the RE6500.  What am I missing or, should I reinstall the RE6500 and use the default DNS settings?  I'm using Windows 7 Sp1 and the RE6500 icon does not appear in Network, so it appears to be an issue between Windows and the RE6500.

  • OIM Exchange Provision - Primary address (SMTP: vs smtp: proxy address val)

The Exchange provision process completes successfully, but it appears as if the proxyaddress that gets created is NOT for a primary address. This is indicated by the value being prefixed by "smtp:" (lowercase) vs "SMTP:" (uppercase). If I set the primary email on the user form manually it will update and create a primary (uppercase SMTP:) correctly for that same user. Is the behavior of the initial provision an issue with the connector or the Exchange (recipient policies) configuration?
** I'm aware that there is a 9.1.1 version of the Exchange connector that appears to have fixed alot of stuff, but I can't upgrade right now from my 9.1.0.1 version.

I'd have to second Mike Crowley.  This is the way it has always been.
Snuffy has a correct email address on his mailbox of [email protected]
Someone comes along and adds [email protected] to his proxy addresses.  Now, if someone internal sends a message to [email protected], Exchange consults the Active Directory first to see if any recipients match that SMTP address.  If
they do, it routes the message to the local recipient rather than an external domain.
This is a feature, not a bug, and it is the way Exchange has been since Exchange 4.0 days.
Sometimes, observed, real-world behavior is better than any KB article.  :-)   I suggest you pass along this information for them to read:

  • Remove @me and use @icloud as primary address?

I have an @ me account that is Apple ID and Primary email address. I have recieved the @icloud email but cannot find a way to get rid of the @me. In my apple ID management I see no option of removing the @me. Is this possible? I don't want to use the @me anymore.

I was wondering why all of a sudden I could choose to send emails from @icloud.com as well as @me.com. That appeared out of nowhere in my iPhone's mail app. I read people are mentioning a mail they woudl have received about this thing happening..? I didn't see any.
Anyways, as Google is your friend... I found this popping up in my search wizzardry:
If you go to to the iCloud Mail prefs on the web interface:
    https://www.icloud.com/#mail/prefs-addresses
in the composing tab, you will see a setting called "Send From".
There you can choose which default address to use.
@icloud.com was the setting, (which I never visited before). I left it at that, as I assume it is the whole point.
below it is a setting "choose which address you would like to be able to send from"
There you can choose be able to send from both @me.com and @icloud.com (set as default), and you can choose to not send from the non-default address above it...
    Bottom line:
you can always get email on both @me.com and @icloud.com
    +
you can choose from which one to send as default, and if you want to be able to send from both...
It would be cool to have Apple send a auto reply to people using the one you don't use, so you have only in- and outgoing traffic trough one of them...
    Does this solve the issue..?

The primary address for a user has changed. Is there a way to find out when was changed and by who?

If you have administrative audit logging enabled, and depending on how long ago it happened, then yes.  If you do, then check this TechNet article for information on how to search the logs:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff459262(v=exchg.141).aspx
In your case, the command you would probably run is:
Search-AdminAuditLog -Cmdlets Set-Mailbox -Parameters EmailAddressPolicyEnabled, EmailAddresses -Start <last date you knew this was not set this way>

    All,
With using .Mac accounting, I could only use [email protected] for sending email. However, what/how could I do if I want to set my email address to another one?
    Thanks,

    Hi Kenny!
Do you only see one account there? Only the .mac one? Hmmm...what about if you click on your Accounts tab? How many accounts are there in the left window pane? And assuming you have two accounts there if you click on the account and then click on the Advanced tab in the main portion of the window is the box selected that says enable this account?
What I'm getting at is if you have two accounts that are enabled you should be able to select which one you want to send your mail from. The only thing I can think of that makes sense is if this other account is not enabled?
    Let me know...Reg
