Setting HP LaserJet 2200d Duplex Doesn't work

Machine is fully updated via Software Update as of 7/15/2008 (10.5.4), including the 7/15/08 HP Drivers.
Printer: HP LaserJet 2200d
Interface: USB
Driver: /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/HP LaserJet 2200.gz
I installed the printer and ensured it is using the correct driver.
Open the print queue, select Info, select Driver, set the Duplex Unit checkbox and set the RAM to 8-15MB to match printer's 8MB RAM.
Open any PDF using Preview.
Command-P to print
Set pages to print From 1 to 2 (to save resources, has no effect on this behavior)
Open Layout
Set Duplex to Long-edge binding
press Print
Resulting job is printed single-sided on two sheets.
I use Preview and PDFs as an example application. Every application I have tried prints single-sided when long-edge is set.
Interestingly, if I issue the following shell command, duplexing is properly enabled:
lp -P 1-2 -o sides=two-sided-long-edge samefile.pdf
Also, when I print to this print queue over the network from a Tiger 10.4.11 machine, duplexing is properly enabled.
Is there a fix?

Yes, I was using a "No banner" preset here at home, too. Not exactly sure why.
Printing using "Standard" then setting two-sided worked.
Exiting Preview then using "Last Used Settings" also resulted in duplex printing.
I wonder if this has something to do with a printer preset being migrated from a 10.4 account or something....
Since deleting that preset, I haven't been able to get it to fail either. Even creating new presets, selecting it, then adding duplex.

  • HP LaserJet 1320 Duplex Printing Not working with Windows 7

    Hi
    I've just bought a new PC with Windows 7 Home Premium. I have an HP LaserJet 1320 printer (Prod no. Q5927A, SN CNGW53RLRY).
    I cannot find driver that works the same way as the previous driver HP LaserJet PCL5. If I use this driver and can still get duplex printing but it will only print one copy at a time.
    If I upgrade to HP Universal Printing PLC (or PLC v5) I can print multiple copies but not duplex printing. I have searched high and low through the HP site but to no avail.
    Any help and advice will be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hello,
       I've seen this same issue with my printers (other HP printers) whereby the default setting to support the Duplexing hardware was set to 'off'.
      A quick method to check this is look at what the setting is for Duplex hardware in the Device Settings tab, and if it's not set, correct it.
      Printer Properties:
      From the 'Start' orb -> [Devices & Printers] -> right click on your Printer icon -> select 'Printer Properties' -> click on 'Device Settings' tab.
     You should see a dialog similar to the mine (attached): look for the 'Duplex unit (for 2-sided printing)' and see if it's set to "Not Installed":
        --> in either case, click on 'Not installed' and from the dropdown box, select 'Installed'... Click 'OK' to accept the changes and close the dialog.
    Printing Preferences:
     again, right click on your Printer icon -> select 'Printing Preferences' -> click on 'Advanced' tab.
     -->Check to see if there is a 'Duplex Hardware' or '2-sided printing' option in here: mine doesn't show one but thougth I'd mention it nonetheless.
      Click on the 'Finishing' tab and select 'Print on both sides'...or simply test print a multi-page document and set those preferences on-the-fly.
     Let me know if this helps...

  • Setting NLS_LANG=CANADIAN FRENCH_CANADA.WE8MSWIN1252 doesn't work Win64 bit

    Hi,
    I migrated my database Oracle 10.2.0.4 windows 32 bits to Windows 64 bits. On the new server 64 bits, I set registers key exactly the same way (NLS_LANG, NLS_DATE_FORMAT, etc.).
    In 32 bits, when I started SQLPlus, I had the following output:*
    +Microsoft Windows [Version 5.2.3790]+
    +(C) Copyright 1985-2003 Microsoft Corp.+
    D:\Logiciels\Oracle\Ora10g\rdbms\BIN>sqlplus /nolog

    SQL> show user
    USER est ""+

    In 64 bits, I had the following output when I started SQLPlus:*
    D:\Logiciels\oracle\ora10g\rdbms\BIN>sqlplus / as sysdba
    SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production on Jeu. Juil. 16 14:16:19 2009

    With the Partitioning, Real Application Clusters, OLAP and Data Mining options
    SQL> show user
    USER is "SYS"+
    SQL>
    To be sure it's the good key used by SQL*Plus, I voluntary changed the value of the Key NLS_LANG to an invalid value to see what would be the result
    (for example: I omitted the first "A" in CNADIAN FRENCH_CANADA.WE8MSWIN1252). Now is the result:
    D:\Logiciels\oracle\ora10g\rdbms\BIN>sqlplus / as sysdba
    SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production on Jeu. Juil. 16 14:22:40 2009

    ERROR:
    ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified
    Enter user-name:
    That's the proof that I'm using the good key. Si why it doesn't work for NLS_LANG=CANADIAN FRENCH_CANADA.WE8MSWIN1252 ???
    I tried with the same bad result with FRENCH_CANADA.WE8MSWIN1252.
    Any idea?

    Sorry, I created the this thread in the wrong category ...

    I'm quoting NLS_LANG FAQ http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/globalization/htdocs/nls_lang%20faq.htm:
    >
    If NLS_LANG is not set in the environment, check the value in the registry:
    SQL>@.[%NLS_LANG%].
    If you get something like:
    Unable to open file.[ENGLISH_UNITED KINGDOM.WE8ISO8859P1].
    The "file name" between the braces is the value of the registry parameter.
    If you get this as result:
    Unable to open file ".[%NLS_LANG%]." then the parameter NLS_LANG is also not set in the registry.
    Note the @.[%NLS_LANG%]. technique reports the NLS_LANG known by the SQL*Plus executable, it will not read the registry itself. But if you run the HOST command first and the NLS_LANG is not set in the environment then you can be sure the variable is set in the registry if the @.[%NLS_LANG%]. returns a valid value.
    >
    Maybe you have several NLS_LANG setting in the registry because you have several ORACLE_HOME ?

  • HP Laserjet 4V/MV doesn't work in Snow Leopard

    I ran software update which installed new drivers for HP and Epson with OS 10.6.1, but my HP 4MV (on my network) still doesn't work (was always automatically recognized before). I've spent 2 days trying everything to get this working. If someone at HP is reading this, PLEASE...new driver for this that works!

    There is nothing that we can do. The problem you are encountering is that AppleTalk is no longer present on Snow Leopard. There are many many threads here on this issue. You'll need get your device hooked up to the Network (and NO, AppleTalk does not count) to get things working.
    How is your device currently connected?
    Just trying to help.

  • Setting proxy from installation program doesn't work

    I think I found a bug in installation program.
    When I go to setup network in installation program, choose not to use dhcp and then setup the proxy configuration there it doesn't work.
    I know it's not a network problem or anything because I managed to install fine after going to another VC and using export http_proxy="myproxyip:port" and export ftp_proxy="myproxyip:port" and then returned to installation program on VC1.

    The best thing to do when you think you found a bug is to post in the bug tracker. Things have a tendency to get lost in the forums very quickly, as well a number of Arch developers don't come into the forums at all.

  • FaceTime audio half duplex / doesn't work simultaneously

    I gave my parents a new iPad Air for Christmas.  Note: They are 'older' and have a lot of trouble operating electronic devices.  Before sending it to them I did check for recent updates, set up their email and contacts, installed some apps that I  find useful and uploaded some photos.  Otherwise it's a fresh unit right out of the box.
    Yesterday we tried facetime with them.  The video worked as it should.  The audio seemed to be in a 'half duplex' mode on our device.  Meaning, they could hear us perfectly and normally on the iPad.  We could only hear them when we were perfectly quiet.  Any sounds or talking on our end would mute their transmission during and about 1 second after speaking.
    We tried multiple calls.  (I called them and then they called me).  We tried an iphone 5 and a MacBook, the problem was consistant in all cases.  During one of our calls on the mac, my brother placed a facetime call to my phone and his connection worked perfectly, while my parent's connection continued to have the issue.
    I sent them the following instructions, in hopes that it may fix the issue, but I'm doubtful.  I don't have an iPad handy (only iphones and the mac in our house) so there may be some settings that are present on the iPad and not on the iphone that they should try.  Any and all help would be appreciated!   They live on Kauai, HI so if there are any places there that would be helpful that they could visit, I would appreciate the recommendation.
    Go into settings, scroll down until you see facetime. Select it. There will be some settings for facetime. One simply says facetime and there is a small green slider button next to it. Touch the button. It should slide and turn white. This disables facetime.
    Go to settings, then general, then software update. It should say "checking updates" and then will either display your version (7.0.4 ?) OR it will say there is a new update and you can download it. If so, download/install. (Should be a button asking and just hit yes or ok).
    Next, do a network reset:
    Go to settings, general, scroll down to "reset". Select reset and then select "reset network settings". It will ask if you want to do this and yes, you want to do it.
    Next, After all this is done, reboot the ipad. This is done by pressing and holding the top (power/sleep) button and the home button down at the same time. Hold it for 30-seconds maybe longer until the screen goes black and then the apple logo appears. Then let go.
    (If you hold just the upper button for 5 seconds a red slider will appear to allow you to turn off the ipad. For a reset just ignore that and keep holding down the buttons).
    Once it reboots, add yourself back to your network. It may ask on its own, but if not :
    Go to settings, then wi-fi. Select your network and enter your password.
    Last, go into settings, general, facetime and turn it back on by touching the white slider button. It should turn green.
    I found two other cases that sounded like mine:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/22808569#22808569
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/22705969?searchText=Facetime%20duplex#2270 5969

    My parents called apple tech support.  I'm not exactly sure what they did, but I think they just rebooted the iPad again, as done previously.  It seems to be working better now, although it does still cut out now and then from sounds on my end of the line.
    Another thing that seems to have helped, I determined that my parents had left it in the original plastic packaging and then crammed it into the case I gave them, which may have slightly muffled their microphones.
    Anyway between these two things it is working better.  We can speak on this end and still hear them talking.  But now and then it still cuts out.

  • Setting 'struct tm' tm_zone="GMT" doesn't work, takes default system timezone

    Dear Dev-Meisters,
    I'm trying to find out why setting  tm_zone="GMT" in a "struct tm" is not working on Mac OS X 10.6.x. and mktime()....
    However with gmtime() it works but apparently it's not recommended for Mac OS X...
    I need to read in a data file with large datasets which contains date / time along with data.
    Every date/time (can be about > 500000 lines) is converted to a time_t data structure to find out if there a gaps between dates.
    However setting the structure "struct tm" with tm_zone="GMT" doesn't set it to GMT.
    It always takes Mac OS X default time zone defined in the Sys Preferences.
    I made succesful tests with "NSDate timeIntervalSince1970" (when setting the NSTimezone to GMT): this gives the correct GMT time...
    Since > 500000 lines is a little bit overkill performance wise to always create an object I would prefer to use UNIX time stamp...
    /* Test for 24 Feb. 2005 at 17h20:10 / Should return: 1109265610 as UTC time */
    time_t currentTime;
    struct tm myTm;
    myTm.tm_year          = 2005-1900;  // need to subtract -1900
    myTm.tm_mon           = 2-1;        // need to subtract -1 (since month: 0-11)
    myTm.tm_mday          = 24;
    myTm.tm_hour          = 17;
    myTm.tm_min           = 20;
    myTm.tm_sec           = 10;
    myTm.tm_zone          = "GMT";
    myTm.tm_isdst         = 0; // DayLight Saving Time flag = 0 = Off
    myTm.tm_gmtoff        = 0;
    currentTime = mktime(&myTm);
    Result on Mac OS X: 1109262010 !! Wrong result: -3600 seconds, should be 1109265610
    However using:
    currentTime = gmtime(&myTm);
    gives the right result: 1109265610
    Any suggestions is greatly appreciated

    Thanks for the answer, I read everything except the man page for mktime :-(
    Well I can't remember where I read that about "gmtime" but you are right:
    I will use gmtime instead of mktime and it works, it converts it to a GMT time.
    Thanks again for your precious help.
    Cheers,
    Gilles

  • HP Color LaserJet 9500 Duplexing - does not work

    It seems that Leopard has some major issues with Duplexing. I see quite a number of posts on this topic for a variety of printers.
    I have found that the HP Color LaserJet 9500 does not duplex from Leopard. It worked fine before the upgrade.
    I verified that the Duplexing option is selected in the driver's installable options.
    When i choose "two sided" from the print dialog box, it prints as one sided instead.

    No, in this case I am printing straight to JetDirect.
    However, here's the weird thing. It is now working sporadically. What I find curious is that there are two duplexing settings. One in General settings, marked "two sided", and one in Layout, where you can choose short edge, long edge, or no duplexing. I wonder if there is some weird interaction here. In any case, this is not well documented. There was never a "two sided" option in 10.4.

    Hi,
    I've been trying to get my printer+scanner to work. Printing works fine, but can't get the scanning to work.
    It is a network printer. Currently it's configured via 'hp-setup', but I've tried configuring it through CUPS web interface, and it's the same problem.

    I've had similar problems, installing python-pillow and python2-pyqt package, as mentioned elsewhere in this forum, solved the problem.
    I can now use simple scan for scanning, when before it only detected my webcam.

  • Laserjet 1020 printer doesn't work through airport express. PLEASE help me

    Hi everyone. I've just bought a laserjet 1020, and though I can perfectly "see" it through the airport admin utility, there is no way to have a page printed. Works perfectly when connect it to the laptop through usb though. I have already tried every iFelix solutions, changed drivers (HP 1022, etc.), bonjour for windows, manual configurations, etc. Is there something else out there that I didn't figure out? Please help me. I'm in one of those moments where there are no more ways left to check out in google. I will really appreciate any advice.
    Regards,
    Martin.

    There are issues with regard to HP and Apples.
    I take it that your Laserjet is plugged into the XP computer and that you are tryiny to print to it over a network.
    Try this:
    Go to System Preferences> click on "+" to "Add Printer", at the next page click on "More printers", this should then bring up a box with the name of your network in it. It will then show the name of your Apple and that of the PC into which the LAN cable from the router is plugged, click on this PC and the next box should throw up the name of the printer, click on this, then DON"T click on ADD but on the slot with "Generic" showing, you can then scroll down the list to Laserjet, click on that and find the "Gimp" version of the driver with your printer's model number, this is the one you should ADD.
    Now this may work first time, unlikely given Apple's track record of network printing foul ups; you may have it print only a 1/4 page. If this happens, try "ADDing" a driver from higher up the Laserjet range; this is what I had to do to get my Canon iP3000 to work (I use the iP8000 driver with reasonable success)
    There are also CUPS+GIMP drivers in the list; with the Canon these just printed a 1/4 page of solid black, nice for the ink manufacturers, but expensive for us!
    The Gimp drivers are a third party product, 2 years out of date, and for which Apple accept no responsibility.

  • Upgraded no print duplex doesn't work

    I have a HP laserjet pro 1102w printer which is still in stores.  I upgraded to Mt Lion and now my printer will no longer duplex.  The printer used to allow for manual duplexing, but now I would need to print each page individually to instead of having the duplex happen.  I have verified with HP that I have the lastest driver installed, and I do.  I have also tried deleting and re-adding the printer multiple times.
    Anyone find a solution to get this important function back?  The option is visible, but grey so I can't change it to duplex.  I'm guessing it has something to do with the AirPrint.
    Thanks for your help!  I really need to do some course printing today.

    I knew if I posted a question I'd figure it out.  It was Airprint.  Uninstalled the printer and installed not using the Airprint option.  Duplex option is now available again.

  • Email with attachments QPAC: setting "From" using process data doesn't work

    Hi,
    I trying to set the "From" in the Email with attachments QPAC from a process variable, let's call it "mailagent", which is of type xs:string.
    So I use a set value QPAC, which sets the "mailagent" variable to "[email protected]". The workflow then continous with the Email QPAC.
    Which stalls and throws the following exception:
    javax.mail.MessagingException: 501 Syntax error, parameters in command "MAIL FROM:<{$/process_data/@mailagent$}>" unrecognized or missing
    Hrm. I thought, I had already used the Email QPAC this way.
    Is there some kind of magic to apply to the Email with attachments QPAC in order for it to accept process data in the "From"?
    Steve

    Yes, I'm sure, it worked for us to. But it obviously no longer does.
    Yes, "mailagent" definitely is a variable of type string, though it's of type
    xs:string. I'm no longer able to create variables, which don't feature the
    xs namespace. Which is quite confusing as I've got absolutely no idea, what the
    xs is used for.
    We are using LiveCycle Workflow 7.2.1, the Email QPAC is 7.0.2. Is this the latest version?

  • After setting the reverse proxy, SSO doesn't work

    Hi,
    We are facing a problem after setting a reverse proxy. ITS&SSO is working fine for internal users but the problem is with the external users;ITS is working fine for external users but SSO is not working. Does anyone can help us out with this problem ? It is kind of urgent.
    Thanks
    Serkan

    Eric,
    Sorry for misunderstanding,
    The domain for internal/external users are the same https://external.global.rexam.<b>net</b>/irj/portal
            internal.global.rexam.net/irj/portal
    But the ITS goes through:
    bca.rexam.<b>com</b>
