Setting icon with red circle

While trying to download iOS 8.01 on my iphone 5s i was halfway through it when Apple pulled it and I now have a red circle with a one on it on my settings icon. can anyone please tell me if this will go away once Apple get themselves sorted with the next update

Same problem, Software update is up to date. Still have red circloe with "1" on it. Any other idea's?

Battery Icon with Red Line on BB 8310

So, how pervasive is the problem of theBlackberry 8310 and its icon with the red line across from it? Is it a problem with the battery? Or is it a problemwith the phone? IS there any fix?
Mine came brand new in a box a few daysago. It came with a blue battery (C-S2). As soon as I put the battery into thephone, the dreaded Icon (battery with a red line through it) showed up. I charged it, thinking that means the batteryis empty and left it charging for over 5 hours, hoping the Icon will go away.It never did, and now 4 days later and an infinite number of battery pulls, some with a twist or two, it is still there. If it was any otherpiece of technology I would dismiss it as junk. But, oh, this is the famous BB.
Instead, I did some research, have spentupwards of 15 hours over the last 4 days, trying to figure it out. I ran intolots of things on the Net, including the crackberry postings with people sayingthat they got rid of the problem by dropping (!!) the BB from 3-4 feet,sometimes repeatedly, until it fixed itself. Others report the problem aftersome time of use (flaky construction?). On this forum alone there are at least4 recent postings with the identical problem (search for “8310 battery line”and find the post of “Spyridonas” 12-13-08, of “black_black_b” 06-10-09, of “hades” 09-27-09 and of “Alien_X” 09-28-09. None of those seems to have got the attentionof anyone from RIM, and nobody offered any meaningful solution. As people have reported time and again, it isvery unlikely to be the problem with the battery, so we are left to conclude thatthe phones are lemons.
We spend lots of money for a useless pieceof junk and nobody at RIM cares. If this was a car, it would have been recalled a long time ago. I will get my money back and buy somethingelse, maybe a Nokia or even a Moto. Watch out RIM, you are pissing off a lot ofpeople, and some of them are the wrong people to piss off.

Not very pervasive. It certainly is not one of the top ten problems judging from the questions I see asked here and elsewhere.

Could be. Have you tried a brand new battery (I forget if you said).
Or is it a problemwith the phone?
Again, could be. There could be an issue with your battery contacts on the device.
IS there any fix?
For most, yes. We've been over that.
Try cleaning the contacts on the device. See if that helps. Try a new battery... and often new batteries are very low or close to dead upon purchase so follow the directions above to charge and bootup.

You've had it four days, brand new, and you haven't returned it for a new device? That would be my first suggestion had you stated that first off. I would not keep that device if first off it didn't work. But a lemon? Nah, it's not a pervasive problem inherent to the model, which is what a lemon is normally defined as.

Battery icon with red line

I have a curve that only displays the battery icon with the red line thru it.
I have tried 3 different batteries in it and have also tried reloading the OS thru DM but no luck. I have a second Curve that works just fine with all the batteries I have for it.
Is there anyother way to reload the OS without using DM to do it? or any other cure for the battery problem

Hi and welcome to the forums!
Try doing the application load with the battery out. It will error out and give a message similar to "unable to connect to device during a multi-stage load operation". Once you get the error, put the battery back in and try the application load again.
You may have to try this four or five times, but if you can "spark" it for the second it looks for the PIN and gets connected you can finish the load.

Mail icon missing red circle

As of the last couple of days, the icon in the dock won't show a red circle when new mail has arrived in my mailbox. This is annoying, I have to pull up the mail window in order to check if I have a new message.
I've tried trashing prefs - this resulted in a 1/2 hour re-setup of my account and didn't solve the problem. Restarted computer, no effect. I'm suspicious that this may be a result of the latest update. I'm using Mail v. 2.0.5. and OS Tiger v. 10.4.3. Can anyone help?

I think the problem is that you may have moved your <Helvetica.dfont> from your font folder. It is the same as your <Console> Application not having the <Monaco> font ....just will not work without it. Make sure that you have the font <Helvetica.dfont> loaded into one of your font folders that the computer can access. I do not believe any helvetica will work, must be the <.dfont> version. Hope this helps.

Battery Icon with Red Diagonal Line

My phone is displaying a Battery icon with a red diagonal line. I figured the battery had finally died and ordered a new battery. When I installed the new battery it displays the same thing. I have tried the Support Q&A and unplugged from the charger, removed the battery, waited a while, reinstalled the battery and then plugged into the charger. Nothing.
I tried the same procedure but used the USB cable to try to charge through the USB in case my charger was the problem.
I have waited for a while now and the icon is still displaying.

Yep! Same issue with my 8800.
Bought a new wall charger as well as a new battery as the old one had expanded.
Let's see how it goes.

Unit totally locked up. now get startup sound and blank screen with red circle with line thru it.

My Macbook is about 4 years oId. I was doing an Excel spreadsheet(apple office suite), went for a short break, on first keystroke the unit totally locked up with the spinning beachball. My mouse could move that around but that was all it could do. After about 4 minutes, needed to force quit it by holding down start up button. let it sit for a couple of minutes and then tried to restart it. I now get the start up chime followed after a short spell with a grey screen with a red circle with a red line though it right in the middle of the screen. tried about 3 more times with the same result. I hope it isn't dead because my project was about 95% complete and just about ready to print.
Any ideas how to revive the ol' girl?

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately more serious then that. took unit to the apple repair techies and needed to replace hard drive. It had a total catastrophic failure and none of the info was recoverable That is a bummer as my last project was quite time consuming and almost complete. Good news I guess is I now have a much larger hard drive memory. Also had them put in much more RAM so now she is purring like a kitten again and a lot faster. Hopefully it will be a while before the swirling beachball of death appears. Thanks again for trying to help.

Mouse-click with red circles

In many tutorial videos (Photoshop or Lightroom) you can see red circles appear after mouse clicks.
When I use the software it didn´t show up.
Do I need a special mouse software ? Is it on Mac or Windows ?

Some of the screen recording applications used to create demonstration videos can highlight the pointer during the recording. There are also utilities that highlight the pointer live, for example when you do a classroom presentation. On the Mac, you can use the Mouseposé utility for this.

Dv9827cl No Sound (Speaker Icon with Red X)

I have a HP dv9827cl running Windows 7 64 Bit. The sound icon has a red X through it and I have no sound. The sound icon in the tray says "No Audio Output Device Installed" when I hoover over it. I have installed both Conexant and Realtek drivers from the Dirver section since I'm not sure which sound card I have for this model (dv9827cl) but the speaker still has a red X and no sound. Any ideas on how to get sound? I even went as far as installing Windows 7 again with no luck.

Icon with red line through battery.

I have an icon on my blackberry that has a battery with a red line. I bought a new battery and yes, it is the correct battery. Battery works in another phone, but not in mine. I think it is not recognizing the battery. I have tried linking up with Blackberry desktop, but my phone is not turning on because it is not recognizing the battery and therefore has no power source. I have tried everything. I cannot download new software because whenever I hook it up to the computer it says it is waiting for the device to turn on. I have pushed the reset button and tried a soft reset, but nothing.
I would really like my phone to work again, but what I want most are my contacts and a recorded voice note and I am not sure they are backed up.

And the issues started after the dropping of the BB? If so, that may void your warranty path...if it's still within the first year, that is. Given what you've described, I don't hold out much hope. Hands-on hardware-level assistance is what I think you need...which we naturally cannot provide here. I suggest you decide if it's worth what you need to go through to get that assistance (warranty or not, voided warranty or not, etc.) and then proceed accordingly.

IPad crashes: Apple icon with 'processing' circle

I have a new 64GB 3G iPad, bought this morning. However, I'm having issues. When I sync, it very often fails and displays a black screen with Apple icon. I've had this happen 8-10 times over the last 5 hours or so.
Possibly unrelated, but I also can't open the photos app on the iPad -- it displays a "Updating Library" message which then clears back to the homepage.

What is happening when I download firefox, and I get tne icon with the circle with the slash thru it, and " could not be launched -10661"

Someone did some mayhem, to my " new to me " Apple eMac G4. I came home, (the G4 was asleep) when I woke it, the trash was an eject button, I had two web pages minimized, I went on line and Firefox worked as it had before. After, I shut it down that evening, it wouldn't start up the next day, and, when, I tried, to downnload, it, I get Firefox app could not be launched -10661.

my music isn't playing, it's only coming up with red circles with squares in it, and most of it is purchased music not just downloaded...is there anyway to fix this??

I talked to an apple care specialist and they helped me fix this. Go to itunes, and uncheck sync music and then apply. Then after the songs been deleted from your device, check sync music and apply and all your music will be downloaded again!!! Hope this helps!!!
