Setting Links in Documents to Objects in KM Folders

I have a folder created in KM I need to create a link so that the contents of the folder are displayed and can be accessed on the portal.  I went to KM and opened the iview from settings - properties - acess paths I copied the short ID.  I found information that says to paste the short ID into the document, but it does not say where to paste it.  Please advise if this is the correct process and if so where to paste the link - thanks

hi Annette,
Its very simple.
Go to your folder in pcd content and
in the context menu of the folder  new ->workset
and give all the details.  after creating , open that workset as object.
Then go to the page and right click and add to the workset as  delta link or copy.
The differnce between them is deltalink is a reference. what ever the changes you  do to the page will automatically relfects in the workset page. In copy method, it is not reflecting.
Go to the same steps for the role also.
After you assign the workset to a role, then go to the user administrator->identity management.
Search for your role and assign your user id to that role.

  • Document Type - Object link to be made mandatory

    hi All,
    We are having a requirement that - For a particular 'Document Type' Object link shall be made mandatory.
    Ex: For Doc. Type: ABC - 'Sales Document - Item' is MANDATORY
          For Doc. Type: XYZ - 'WBS Element' as Object link is MANDATORY
    How do I achieve this?. Pl. advise.
    -thanks

    Hi ,
    In DC10 define document type and assign sap object links . To make fields as mandatory its an risky in DMS customization it will effect on other sap object links like BOM item,BOM header. why beacuse for an BOM item you cannot assign values directly on CV02N.So that you need to create DIR  first and than assign BOM item from user t-code .

  • PDF export with link to document defaulting to "Open a web link" instead of "Open a file"

    I have a MS Access database and I'm trying to export reports to PDF (I have Acrobat XI Pro) that include a hyperlink to another document on the same drive on my computer.  I have tested this with hyperlinked email addresses, and emails export fine to PDF and are still functional, opening a new email in Outlook.  The hyperlinks to documents work fine in MS Access, opening a Word, PDF, or other document when clicked.
    When I export to PDF, the links to documents say, "This document is trying to connect to: file:" and my filepath.  If I say "Allow," the link tries to open in my default web browser, which comes up blank.  I've tested this on other computers in our office too.  When I right-click the link, I have the option to "Open weblink as a new document" -- this opens the document successfully, but won't be very helpful or fast for our staff.  When I examine the link with Tools - Add or Edit Link, I see that the link's action defaulted to "Open a web link" when the PDF was created.  This seems like it should be "Open a file."  To see if "Open a file" would work in theory, I tried creating a test button in a blank PDF and made the "mouse up" action "Open a file" and linked to various documents on my computer.  Each time, the button does not react to being clicked at all, like nothing happened.
    I also tried making a basic Word doc with just the hyperlink to another document.  It works fine in Word, but, when saved as a PDF, the hyperlink does the same behavior-- tries to connect to the web instead of opening the file on the computer.
    I have a lot of experience building Acrobat PDF forms and working in Acrobat, and I'm almost certain I've created links that open another file on the computer in Acrobat before, but I'm out of ideas and an internet search isn't turning up much.  I welcome any suggestions for things to try.  Thank you!

    This is what I currently have, and it attempts to open in a web browser.  Do you know of a setting in Acrobat I might need to change, or any other solution to tell Acrobat to open the "file:" URL as a document, not try to start the web browser?

  • Set link for main image in gallery

    Hi, how do you set link to the main image in the photo
    gallery? I was able to add photo caption using the
    spry:detailregion but cannot do use the same method for the main
    image because Spry won't allow nested div.
    I saw a thread that talked about changing the SetMainImage
    function but I've tried that it doens't seem to work. Can you show
    me how to edit the code to do this? Thank you.

    ok, after a day of trial and errors, I found a little fix for
    this. It is not pretty but it does the job. First, change the
    mainImageOutline div to a link. Second, add in two lines of codes
    into the function ShowCurrentImage()
    html file
    <a href="#" id="mainImageOutline" style="width: 0px;
    height: 0px;" ><img border="0" id="mainImage" height="250"
    width="250" src="images/spacer.gif" /></a>
    gallery.js
    function ShowCurrentImage()
    var curRow = dsPhotos.getCurrentRow();
    // added by Tri
    var tri_imgHolder =
    document.getElementById("mainImageOutline");
    tri_imgHolder.href = curRow["@newsLink"]; // this pull the
    link from the XML file
    // added by Tri
    SetMainImage("2006_home_news/" +
    dsGalleries.getCurrentRow()["@base"] + "images/" + curRow["@path"],
    curRow["@width"], curRow["@height"], "tn" + curRow["ds_RowID"]);
    link in the xml file
    <photo

  • Link to Document Content Type issue - links not relative

    I'm using the Link to Document content type in a library in order to link to documents in other libraries.  We just migrated to 2010 from WSS 3.0 (2007) and are having an issue.  We view our site internally thorough the internal machine address/name
    and also have users connecting remotely from an external url.  In 2007, it didn't matter whether we were internal or external, all links were apparently stored as relative because the "link to document" items worked fine either way.  This
    was despite entering the url fully and not relative.  When viewing/editing the properties of that item, it shows you the full url applicable to where you are viewing it...internal if internal, external if external.
    However, after the migration to 2010, all links that existed previously are fine, but any new items created using link to document apparently no longer store them as relative so either the internal or external users get the wrong link.  For example,
    if I put in the link as http://servername/library/doc the external users get that same link and it doesn't work, since it should be like https://myurl/library/doc.  Viewing/editing the properties of the item shows an absolute url of whatever location
    the item was added.  For instance if I'm connected externally and add an item, even if i only enter it as relative, it creates the link as https://myurl/library/doc and then the internal users end up having to connect via that url and that is just a pain
    due to AD and certificate issues.  The internally created links are obviously not accessible at all from the outside.
    I've also tried storing the link as relative when creating the item but it seems to overwrite it with the absolute link.
    This is causing quite an issue with us.  Does anyone have any insight as to what is going on and how to fix it?
    thanks!

    Hmm...I thought I had the thread set to email me if there were replies and I never received an email so I thought there were no replies.  I came back to this since another issue cropped up that is related and there were replies!
    I cannot recall how things were set up exactly in 2007 and there's no way to look back now.  I'm a novice when it comes to AAM/DNS/IIS really.  Maybe you can suggest what it should look like?
    We have our site which is accessed internally by http://machinename .  Externally, we use https://sharepoint.mydomain.com .
    In AAM we have http://machinename listed in the default zone with the same url for internal and public.  We also have https://sharepoint.mydomain.com listed, in the internet zone and it also has the same url for both internal and public.
    In IIS, the sharepoint site has bindings for port 80 and 443, but nothing specific to https://sharepoint.mydomain.com
    DNS....I'm not sure what should be here, if anything.
    We can access the site just fine externally, there are just a few instances where some links do not work correctly and point to the internal url instead of external when you are external.  The original post is one time and the other, found the other
    day, is a search box webpart that points to a relative url for the results page but externally it ends up going to the internal url.
    I'd appreciate any guidance.  Thanks!

  • DMS BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2 Class type Technical Document Category, object ty

    Hello Experts!
    The problem is that DMS import functionality stoped working after supp. pack implementation.
    The process is based on BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2 functionality.
    The first problem was an error "The status set requires a previous status" which was causes dy note 1157678
    (http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/PLM/Error-Thestatussetrequiresapreviousstatus)
    After setting break point/de-implementing that note additional error appeared:
    "Class type Technical Document Category, object ty"
    Does anyone have idea what caused the problem, or which sap note did that? before SP19 implementation that error was not displayed.
    Current highest support package is SAPKH60403.
    Thanks in advance for help,
    Rgds,
    LB

    Hi,
    That error refers to updating characteristics for classification (addnl data tab in DIR).
    Does anyone know what could cause the problem after support pack implementation?
    Is it possible that bapi_document_create2 > api_document_maintain2 disables an option to update classification?

  • Link ArchiveLink Document (outb. invoice) with inb. invoice

    Between the companies in our group we are having an ALE-handling for the invoicing process, incoming invoices are posted via IDoc. Actually it is possible to create in the SD-invoice the generated message as a pdf-Document on the external storage system (e.g. Content Server) by ArchiveLink means.
    After that, if the incoming invoice is posted in the same system, the document of the outbound invoice (SD) can be linked with business object "Incoming Invoice". This is manually in the Document Viewer with the function "Assign Document".
    Is there a SAP-standard functionality, with which this can be included  automated in an ALE-scenario ? (Transfer of DocID and subsequent link with the number of the incoming invoice in Log.inv.verification).
    Or is it necessary to establish this in the environment of Business Workflow and the creation of the additional link to the business object takes place here ?

  • Link DMS document to Sales Order

    Hello -
    Currenlty, our Quality Department manually opens each applicable sales order and manually attaches a required document via the "Extras/Documents" path from within VA02 menu bar. It is extremely time consuming.
    I want to know if it is possible to automatically attach a "linked document" to a sales order after it has been saved? I'd like to create/run a batch job that loops through these sales orders, and if applicable, attaches the "linked document". DMS is setup and working and the document that I need to attach is ready. I don't know where I need to put the record of this "link". I can see all of the "links" via CV03N (Object Links/Sales Document Item), but I don't know how they get there.
    Any advice or link to documentation would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Bryan

    I see that there is an objectlinks table which I assume is used to create the link between the document and VA02/VA03. The underlying structure for the objectlinks table is BAPI_DOC_DRAD. I'm not clear on what values I need to add to this table when calling the BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2. FM.??
    Any advice on how to fill stucture BAPI_DOC_DRAD?
    Also, I don't want to create any documents. The document already exists. I just want to establish a link. Can I do that without creating a document that already exists?
    Thanks,

    Hi Matthias
    Whenever you create a DIR  for Example with parameters
    Docuemnt Number   - 100005
    Document Type - DRW
    Part - 000
    Version - 00
    You can Link this DIR with Standard SAP Object such as Material Master ( MARA ) , Vendor Master ( LFA1 ) , Customer ( KNA1)  in DC10 ( Define Document Types > Define Object Links ).
    In this Standard SAP Object are available that can be linked to Document Type. If the Object you desire to link to SAP DMS DIR is not available the you will have to do ABAP Developement to link your desired object to DIR in SAP DMS.
    Check this Link

    We would also like to link documents at item level , Please guide on how we can link documents stored in Content Rep. with PR & PO Items.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi Kumar,
    Kindly check it's in standard objects list in SAP DMS. For item level you need not any development. It's available in standrad SAP DMS object links.
    There is a object Purchase Order Item and you can link to it while defining object links for document types in DC10.
    Hope this will resolve the query.

  • RH9 - Can not create ANY links in linked Word documents ;-(

    Ok, this does not make sense:
    - From RH9, create a fresh empty project
    - Create two word files "Topic1.docx" and "Topic2.docx"
    - Put "Link Here" in each document
    - Save the documents
    - From Project Manager, Project Files, link both documents, generate, update all, etc.
    - Now create hyperlinks in each topic, pointing to the other topic using default topic editor in RH9
    - Save All and Generate the WebHelp project and test the links are there and work.
    - Now open and edit both word documents in word. Add some text to each and save
    - In RH9 Project Manager, Project files, Update All and open the topics in RH9 default editor
    Walla, the full text is there, the LINKS are gone. Actually, I understand that this is how it works, but the BIG problem is that links to bookmarks, other topics, links to outside resources created in RH9 Default Editor cannot be preserved when the related/linked document is edited in Word. AND, you cannot create ANY of these links in the Word documents. So, you have a help system that has really nice update features when an author makes a change to a document, but NO LINKS. Updating a linked document will DELETE ANY changes made within the RH9 Default Editor.
    Does this make any sense? Has my brain fallen down? Is there another workflow option?
    Thanks for any help
    Lyle
    Hummmmm, NO POPUPs, mini TOCs or See Also Keywords, Link Controls, etc. etc. etc.

    I have been observing this thread and wanted to just chip in to remove some misnomers,
    1. If you create any hyperlink from any MS Word document (say Doc1) to another MS Word document (say Doc2) and you import the original document (Doc1) then it brings its reference (that is the word document Doc2) as baggage in the RoboHelp project and the hyperlink is not created to the html file generated for the word document Doc2 (linked or imported seprately).
         thus if you click the hyperlink in RoboHelp it should open the word document Doc 2 (that was brought into the project as baggage)
    2. If word "conversion setting" alone are modified (like the settings “convert references to hyperlinks”) then at times the mapping fails to work, in such scenarios just go to the conversion settings dialog of FrameMaker and modify multiple “other settings” (it won’t impact your word conversion mapping.) Now any conversion settings applied for word will work.
                Hence the “convert references to hyperlinks” is working but you need to update any FrameMaker conversion settings to get it working
    @ Lyle – as now the flow must be clearer so I would give you a suggestion to merge all the word documents that you want to work with and use cross-references to places you want to have hyperlinks and use the option to “convert references to hyperlinks” in RoboHelp.and keep all the authoring in word document so that nothing is lost on update.
    NB – There is a method to create intra document cross references in MS Word
    In FrameMaker the concept of book gives it a sense of collection and thus cross references across FM documents inside a book are converted easily but in Word there is no way to group word documents and thus it is not possible to convert any spatial hyperlinks from one document to another.
    Hope this helps

  • Linking a document

    Hello,
    I evaluate the JavaStudio Creator for the DeutschePost ITSolutions and I want to know, if I can link a document to an object (for example menu or listbox), without including them in a database?

    I know this is a year late, but for anyone still searching for this, I found a solution that works well for me:
    1. Create the table in the Access Web App that you wish to attach files to.
    2. Use Sharepoint Business Connectivity Services to read the data in the background database for your Access Web App.
    3. Create a document library in Sharepoint, adding an external data column type, using the content type you created in Business Connectivity Services.
    You can now specify an access web app table row from within your document library in sharepoint.
    4. In Access, link a table to the sharepoint document library.
    5. Edit the default created datasheet from your linked table, to include the fields you wish to display.  Include the field that is used for your field name in the document library - it has a hyperlink included in it.
    6. In the view form for your original table (step 1), add a subview, specifying the datasheet from step 5 and linking by the field id that should now be shared between your original table and the linked sharepoint document library.
    You can now see the files attached to the table item, including a hyperlink in the file field.
    7. Add a hyperlink to your view form to the upload.aspx in the document library.
    8. For added ease, you can pass the row id of your original table to the external content id of the document library within the url.  This takes added javascript work on editform, but it makes it so that the user does not need to select the external
    data.  You can even hide the field if you wish, but I kept it visible so that I can edit within the library.
    A true step by step would take a lot more time.  If you're familiar with these subparts, this should make sense to you.  I hope.

  • Programatically setting KM property Document Validity Pattern, no method

    I am trying to programatically set the attribute Document Validity Patterns of a KM property.  I am not able to find a method that achieves this.  I can read the Document Validity Pattern, but not set it.

    That was it. I guess this is a place where the visual interface diverges from the javascript interface. I was expecting "Start" "Length" as in the dialog. Thanks!

  • Archivelink using IXOS - linking image document to business document

    Hi all,
    We are trying to link trip document (BUS2089) with image document of trip receipts in the Travel & Expenses workflow in HR.
    The scanning of paper receipts is done by the IXOS server. The archivelinking is done using late storage using barcodes.
    My question is when the scanning is done and the link is established between the trip document and the image document, is the event "assigned" of business object type "BARCODE" triggered.
    I want to use this event in "wait for event" step in the workflow.

    Hi Kiran
    Not sure about two differnt system but on the same system same image can be linked to two different SAP documents vai function module ARCHIV_CONNECTION_INSERT. Field assignment: tick upper/lower case; archiv_id / arc_doc_id (ixos image address), ar_date, ar_object fileds to be assigned with TOA01 data for the image associagted with SAP document that is already linked. Fields mandant, object_id, sap_object, doc_type to be assigned with 2nd SAP document as it should appear in table TOA01.
    Hope this helps.
