Setting margins using format and document

I am using Appleworks 6.2.9 with OS 10.6.8. I tried to change the margins on a document by going to format then document on the drop down menu as I have down a million times before. This time when I tried to enter .75 for the top and bottom margins, a message popped up which said it was in invalid #. I also tried .5, 1, .33. None of these worked. They have all worked in the past.
What form does the # need to be in to be able to change the margin width at the top, bottom, and sides? Nothing I entered worked.

There are a lot of things that don't work in Snow Leopard as they used to in earlier versions of OS X. The only thing to do to get all of the functionality of AppleWorks is to use an earlier version of OS X, perhaps Tiger, 10.4.11.

I'm having a bit of trouble confirming that the ZyXEL is a combination modem & wireless-N router. If it is, then you really won't get any advantages of using the 802.11g AirPort.
If the range of your ZyXEL is limited, you may find that doing either or both of the following will help: 1) Move the ZyXEL so that it is higher vs. lower in the room, that is away from any closed areas or placed in a metal cabinet, and 2) Changing radio channels. The latter is especially important in you live in an area where there are a number of competing Wi-Fi.
A good utility to find out, is iStumbler. You would use this to find these other Wi-Fi and find which have the strongest signal value. Those that do, you would also want to note which channel they are operating on, and then, change yours to one that is at least 3-5 channels away. So, for example, if you find strong ones on channels 1 & 6, change yours to 11.

Set relation between list and document library?

I have a requirement that I want to show pop up/ modal dialog when I click on list item column "upload/Edit" (in EditForm.aspx) . In Modal Dialog I have to show upload button and also existed items if any. Here the attachments will store into document
library's folder .The list item ID should be the folder name in document library.
How do I set relation between list and doc lib ?

Conversions between character sets when using exp and imp utilities

I use EE8ISO8859P2 character set on my server,
when exporting database with NLS_LANG not set
then conversion should be done between
EE8ISO8859P2 and US7ASCII charsets, so some
characters not present in US7ASCII should not be
successfully converted.
But when I import such a dump, all characters not
present in US7ASCII charset are imported to the database.
I thought that some characters should be lost when
doing such a conversions, can someone tell me why is it not so?

Not exactly. If the import is done with the same DB character set, then no matter how it has been exported. Conversion (corruption) may happen if the destination DB has a different character set. See this example :

Norton for one thing does more harm than good and tries to modify the system's behavior.

Clarisworks, you need Appleworks, which will only work with Mac OS X10.6.8 or earlier. See this tip if you must go newer. Mac Pros with newer hardware configuration than July 20, 2011 can't use Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier without this tip and then it would be Mac OS X Server. I'm not sure if the new black Mac Pro supports that configuration or not.
iPhoto, there is an iPhoto for all versions of Mac OS X.
iTunes, there is an iTunes for all versions of Mac OS X. Note with iTunes versions 11 and later, which are needed for syncing with iOS 7 or or later, you will lose coverflow, if you liked that feature. Sadly you can't run an older version of iTunes from within Mac OS X 10.9 or later.

Retrieve session and document using webisessionid and document token

Hi,
I am trying to open a document in a session which is already in progress. In another words, I have the cdzSessionId (string returned by ReportEngine.getServerInstance()) and the documentToken of the required document. I could not find the steps or API or open this document using the same session (without creating a new one).
Can someone help me with that, by posting some code samples or guideline on how to do that?
I know this must be possible, because we load the webi-applet in our jsp and it takes this values to work on the document.

Ok, so how can I achieve my goal of taking some extra steps when user hits a button ?
The editor saves the report with data when user saves it. I know there would be a valid reason to do that, but it raises a compliance issue with our regulations as the report could be shared. So we want to take the ability away from the users to save the data at all. In order to do that I need to clear the data (purge) when the user hist save, i believe. If I do not work with the same session, then it would not be very helpful.
We explored the option of "Refresh on open" option, but that requires the installation of Fixpack 3.2, which could take a while, as we have shared BO environments with other applications in the firm, and we cannot wait for that.
Also, since you mentioned that it might not ensure security or consistency of the reports, what kind of issues could be expected as a side effect of reusing the session ?

Help setting Parameters using JDBC and Bind Variables for Oracle List

I fully understand the concept of using Bind Variables when using JDBC to avoid hard parses everytime my SQL statement is executed when only a certain value changes. For example, perhaps I have the following statement:
PreparedStatement ps = con.prepareStatement("select salary from employees where employee_id = ?");
I would then set the value of the question mark (the first and in this case only parameter) using:
ps.getStmt().setString(1,empId1);
That is assuming I have the variable empId1 populated with what I want. Anyway, my question has to do with Oracle lists. In other words, if I am just executing the statement against the db, it might look like:
select salary from employees where employee_id in ('123','456','789');
I still want to use bind variables and I can do it in JDBC with something like:
select salary from employees where employee_id in ('123','456','789');
ps.getStmt().setString(1,empId1);
ps.getStmt().setString(2,empId2);
ps.getStmt().setString(3,empId3);
BUT, what if I just want to construct my list of ids upfront as a string and do something like:
select salary from employees where employee_id in (?)
ps.getStmt().setString(1,listOfEmpIds);where listOfEmpIds would look something like '123','456','789'.
That's what I want to do but it doesn't work. It would be treating the list as a single parameter as opposed to lots of individual parameters. Can someone please tell me the syntax for this if it is possible? I have tried where XX in (?) and where XX in ? (and the string I substitute has the parenthesis in it), but neither work.

I always build the list myself.
You could, however, pass the list as a varchar to a stored proc and then have the stored proc parse (or dynamically execute) using it.
The second method might even be faster although I would suspect that is only going to be the case if the list is very large. Or it might not.

Set operations using Rotobrush and Masks question

Hi everyone
I have a relatively simple video clip of an object rotating. Its shot straight on, no fancy moves or anything just rotating. I've rotobrushed it and it looks good on a plain white background. I'm animating a color shift such that as the object rotates its top 1/3rd part changes colors. The area changing colors has crinkly edges but I've used rotobrush to isolate that as well, no problems there. I duplicated the original clip, rotobrushed the duplicate to separate it from the background. The original clip fades into pure white leaving the rotobrushed layer visible. I duplicated the original again, rotobrushed the top 1/3rd in the same way. I created a new layer with just a color adjustment effect and used the rotobrushed top 1/3rd as a track-mask for the animated color adjustment layer.
What I want to do is run a color gradient that shifts colors same as the top part but bleeds into the lower part that does not change colors.
So, is it possible to use a regular mask for the gradient and do a difference operation with the rotobrush of the object so the gradient only effects the area below the top 1/3rd which changes color ? I know I can do it with regular masks, but I can't figure out how to do it with rotobrush masks. I want to be able to do intersections and unions.

Wrong thinking. You need to get away from masks vs. Rotobrush. In the end, all you do is create matte channels and therein lies the answer - any channel can be mangled with effects, possibly requiring to be extracted and isolated first by pre-rendering or pre-comping. RB and masks are just means to an end/ tools, nothing more.

Saving and restoring sets of open applications and documents

Sometimes I have to restart when I have 20 to 30 Word and Excel files, websites, etc., open for work. It's time-consuming to go back and open them all up and get them positioned on various virtual desktops so I can get back to productive work, and every time I do it I swear there's got to be a utility that will save the state of these applications and their open documents for later restoration. Yet I've never been able to find an application to do this. Has anyone dealt with this issue successfully?

AFAIK, when you select Restart, you should get a dialog box for each unsaved, open document that allows you to save it, before the app will quit. If that's not working, then you should manually save the open documents and quit the app before you restart.

i strongly urge you to read some book about CSS and forget using deprecated HTML tags like FONT.
Why am i saying that?
Well, you don't want to change a page template or a report definition every time the user complains about the size of a font or the space between lines, do you?
CSS is all about presenting the page the way you want, setting margins, spaces, fonts and so on.
You should focus on the content, the data, leaving the task of formatting to one or more CSS stylesheet linked in the HTML header.
I recommend reading some articles first, at least to have a general idea of mainstream techniques:
