Setting Nattress frame and exporting

Hi all. I shot with a panasonic SD5 in AVCHD,PAL, convert in AIC and work in finalcut.
In the final sequence i insert nattress film effect setting 30 frame for a film effect. (PAL - needs 30). When exporting with compressor, how about the frame rate setting??? I have to leave 25 as default?

Because the plugin works for both NTSC and PAL, the settings are so that the PAL setting is in brackets, so you get 30p (25p) which means the result will be 30p in an NTSC timeline or 25p in a PAL timeline. The end result will be 25p and yes, in Compressor it should be at 25.
Hope that helps,
Graeme

  • Isolate single frame and export as a still?

Any pointer to a workflow to take a single frame from video clip in  PPRO  and export it into a format for printing a still photo?

Don't feel too bad. Exporting a Still was not always so easy, and in early versions of CS4, was a real pita. Luckily, Adobe listened to the Feature Requests, and instituted the general method used in its "little brother" program, PrElements, which had that (or very similar) icon for many versions.
Good luck, and glad that Ann pointed you to the right spot.

  • How to edit videos frame-by-frame and export in H264?

I wish to edit some videos and then export them in H264 so I can use them on a website.
I have tried to edit with iMovie 08 but can only edit second-by-second. I want to edit frame-by-frame ie to the millisecond. And it appears that iMovie 08 does not export in H264.
I have looked at iMovie 11 which has a Precision Editor which would work to edit as I want but for that I would have to upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard which I don't want. It would export H264.
I also have QuickTime Player 7 Pro but that too seems to edit only by the second not by the frame; it does however seem to produce H264
How can I edit these videos precisely and produce H264? Is there another application which would work better (and doesn't cost a fortune).
    Thanks for any ideas

I want to edit frame-by-frame ie to the millisecond.
Am a bit confused by what you say. iMovie and QT 7 Pro are both "frame" level editors. However, some forms of editing are, by their very nature, applied over a range of frames which may be a part of your problem. In addition, since "normal" movies have frames which are spaced apart in the 16 to 42 ms range, your requirement to be able to edit to the nearest millisecond would seem unreasonable and would probably be unsupported for playback purposes without skipping 90+ percent of the frames on most platforms.
And it appears that iMovie 08 does not export in H264.
All of the "Share" and/or "Export" options (except Final Cut XML...) either default to H.264 or allow export to H.264 (or X264 if installed) video compression.
How can I edit these videos precisely and produce H264? Is there another application which would work better (and doesn't cost a fortune).
Difficult to say since you have not given any indication as to what you mean by "editing" here. You could, for instance, edit normal movie clips in a normal manner and then use an application like the JES Deinterlacer to change the playback time reference to achieve an effective 1 millisecond/frame playback rate you seem to want to target even though your platform cannot play every frame during playback.

  • Set up options and Exporting Z1 footage

    Hi
I've been asked to help my friend out with a project that he's filming on a Z1.
I haven't used FC for a while so I'm a bit rusty! What set up options should I use to start the project, and which options are best to export the finished project?
    Thanks

    Thanks for the advice.
I finally got my footage today. I tried to log and capture the footage from a tape reader with the HDV 1080i50 Easy Setup preset, but the screen was blank. I could see the footage on the tape reader screen but not in Final Cut.
I tried using different fire wires and different MACS but still no joy. As a final resort I tried a different MAC without changing the Easy Setup and leaving the project on the DV Pal preset, and it worked.
Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong? If I captured the project using the DV Pal preset, wouldn't the footage be overly-compressed? Or Am I thinking about this all wrong? The footage is definitely HDV!
And while I'm here does anyone know of any material that I could 'study' to help me understand the setups/compressions etc. I find it really confusing!
    Thanks again
    Ian

  • Custom Setting for Frame and kb/s

I have an edited project I need to upload. I need to compress it at 320x240 with 500 kb/s with 15 fps and h.264.
Compressor has defaults with 320x240 at 300 or 800 but not 500. How do I select this?
How do I select frame rate to 15fps?
    d-

Select your setting, then under the Geometry tab of the Inspector, change the frame size to custom. Frame rate is under the Encoder tab.
All of this is well documented in the manual.

  • Still Frame Quicktime Export with Interlace. what can I do?

    hi.
do you know how to avoid the interlacing happening when making a still frame with quicktime conversion in fcp? I need some stills for promotional purposes but the interlacing is a problem obviously.
    thanks for you help.
    best rob

2 ways- make a freeze frame and export a still of that or de-interlace in photoshop.
The problem is you are throwing away half of the vertical resolution. If you're going to be printing these, they'll look like heck. I understand there's a niftyplug in called genuine fractals for photoshop that does a decent job of up-rezzing.

  • QT X: Create and export still image?

Is there any way in QT X to grab a video frame and export it (full-size) as an image?
I think one could do this with QT 7 Pro (not sure). QT X allows one to trim, but the selection is limited to a duration and must be exported as a movie. I just want a still image from a video frame (and not including the Title Bar or the control bezel).
iMovie can do this, but even there it is awkward (many steps).
Skitch allows window grabs, but clicking on the QT window makes the bezel appear (and I have to run the movie at 100% in order to get an actual frame).
    --Thanks.

    Hi all,
On my main machine I still run Quicktime 7 Pro, even under 10.6, to do most of my movie and image conversions and dread when Apple remove what is one of the most critical basic tools.
Working on another machine I have come across this thread because it only has Quicktime 10 on it.
A solution to getting a single (controlled!) frame from a movie, depending on your screen resolution, is to use Quicktime 10's trim function to trim the movie to just the frame you want and then turn on looped playback in the View menu before pressing the play button. Then you can use Grab to take a picture of your screen without the controls in the way.
But come on Apple, exporting single frames (and the soundtracks) from a movie is a basic 20 year old function - please bring them both back.

  • How do I capture a Frame and save as jpeg

I can't figure out how to just take one frame and export as an image file. Help!

If the frame has a lot of movement between the fields you may want to deinterlace first. To do this go modify>make freeze frame. This loads the frame into the viewer as a still. You can then apply the deinterlace filter and then export as advised above.

  • Premiere CC 7.1 - Red frames in playback and export

Having some problems after the 7.1 update.
In a variety of projects, on a variety of footage, we're experiencing random fully red frames (#ff000). Sometimes there are 1-2 frames in a clip, and occaisionally it's 80%-90% of the frames in a clip (this is less frequent). It has never been all of the frames of a clip.
    This happens:
    - On an undrendered timeline (you'll be watching an edit and you'll see a red frame - if you scrub back to it it'll still be there)
    - On a rendered timeline
    - In exports
Red frames that are visible on a timeline, are sometimes carried through to the export and sometimes not. Sometimes an exported file will display red frames that were not present on the timeline.
Red frames seem to be based on clips, not sequence frames. For example, in one of my exports, I had video footage with a lower third graphic over it. In one frame of the export, a red box appeared over the graphic, but the main shot was not affected.
This has happened to the following types of footage:
    - .MTS (from C100)
    - .MXF (from C300)
    - ProRes 422 MOV
    - ProRes 4444 MOV with alpha channel
    Fixes that seem to work:
    - If an export has red frames, re-export. Watch the new one like a hawk. Repeat until you get lucky.
    - If a clip on a timeline has red frames, force a re-render via a Crop filter or similar
    - Quit Premiere and reopen it
    System/environment details:
    - OSX 10.8.5
    - Premiere Pro CC 7.1
    - Mercury Playback Engine Software Only
    - Often (always?) I-Frame Only MPEG sequence settings
    - Much (all?) of the footage we've been working with has been on AFP shares via GigE with MTU of 9000
I haven't been able to confirm yet:
    - Whether this ever happens with locally stored footage
    - Whether this ever happens when Queueing to media encoder (rather than Exporting from Premiere)
    - Whether changing to a QuickTime Desktop based sequence setting resolves the issue
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? It's frutstratingly un-testable, since it seems to happen at random. We'll continue to gather data points though and see if we notice any other trends.
    Edit: Added additional system context

the error also appears with PRORES 422 files, but only after a certain amount of source data from prores 422 clips is processed / read
i made a test comp in AE with only one gigantic prores 422 source clip (8000 pixels x 1000 pixels @25fps) and the error first appeared at around 1500 frames read from the source file (equalling a few GB of source read and processed). after the red frames error appears once, the erroneous red frames appear more often but never in the same place when rendering the same comp several times)
i also made a test comp containing only a few full HD prores 422 clips (1920 x 1080, @25fps), there the error appeared only seldom (but still randomly). so it can be that a broader user base never experiences this erroneous behaviour at all.
i also made a testcomp containing about 40 full HD prores 422 clips (each 1920 x 1080, scaled down to 10% in size and distributed all over the comp so i can see them all at once). the erroneous red frames appeared within the first rendered frames!! obviously, many qt files had to be open and read in parallel, and so the error appeared from the very beginning of the rendering / export.
i suspect that the AE / PR applications open a RAM buffer for each open prores source file they need to read, and that this buffers somehow becomes compromised when it overflows and when buffer resize / buffer clear / flush operations take place.
of course i tested all sorts of RAM assignents for MP rendering (1GB per core, 2GB, 4GB, 6GB) and i rendered with several different settings of how many cores and ram should be available to other tasks. but the error always appeared. randomly.
--> fact in AE is, that nearly all MP renders / exports using prores clips as source files contained the bad red frames. when rendering without the MP option on (but of course up to 20x slower) so far i never experienced this error (of course always after fresh restarts once the error appeared)
    PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP

  • Indesign CS3 text frame parameters and export PDF

could use some help with the following:
I need to edit and export a large number (7000) Indesign documents (one page)
    1. check for locked text frames and unlock
    2. group all text frames
    3. set grouped text frames at x=8 millimeters, y 10 milimeters
    4. export the documents to PDF in a subfolder called "Out"
    5. save and close the documents in the same subfolder as an Indesign CS3 document (orig is CS2)
This is what I've been trying soo far:
Now only checking one text frame - should be all text frames
"close document 1 saving yes" doesn't work because the originals are from CS2

You're asking for the name of the application, not the document -- you need<br />to do it after your "tell myDoc".<br /><br />You could also get the name from the alias you open, rather than the open<br />document, something like:<br /><br />repeat with thisFile in listFiles<br />set oldDelims to AppleScript's text item delimiters<br />set AppleScript's text item delimiters to {":"}<br />set docName to text item -1 of (thisFile as Unicode text)<br />set AppleScript's text item delimiters to oldDelims<br /><br />You should also move your "set properties of view preferences" line to after<br />your "tell myDoc".<br /><br />-- <br />Shane Stanley <[email protected]>

If you go to 'Aperture menu > Presets > Image Exports..', you will see a list of packaged presets. Selecting the 'Email Medium - JPEG' will set the dimensions to fit within 1024 x 1024 pixels by default (the longest side of image will be set to 1024 and the aspect ratio will be kept). Playing with the 'Image Quality' slider may be necessary to achieve your desired file size.

    2) How do I make a frame around my image when sending by Mail - can't find this in Aperture 3
I am not sure that this is possible via Aperture. You can get the free plug-in called "BorderFX" which allows adding of frames and watermarks on export, but I believe you would have to export the image to add the border and then email (by dragging into your email message).
Here is the link to BorderFX:
    http://www.iborderfx.com/BorderFX/
Note - others may have a better alternative to adding a border in a more efficient manor.
    3) Where can I find perpective corrector - shift lens - to correct slant of buildings etc
The least expensive option would be PTLens, which works well as a plug-in and costs $25 US. The author has a page dedicated to shift lenses, so you will want to check it out before making a decision. He also offers a trial version to test on your machine / equipment.
    http://epaperpress.com/ptlens/
Note - I don't use a shift lens, so my recommendation ends at saying that his plug-in works well for what it is meant to do (correct distortion for supported lenses with manual controls for distortion and CA).
    Hope that helps.

When I tween between frame 1 and frame 2 the object in frame two goes out of position, appearing in a different place than where it is on frame 2. Confused!

Hi Melissa - thanks for your interest. Here's the first frame, the second frame and the tween frame. I don't understand why the tween is changing the position of the object in frame 2, was expecting it to just fade from one frame to the next.
