Setting Nokia Messaging as default email

When I go to contacts, select one and then options-> send -> email the phone says that is imposible to send an email because i need to configure an account first on messaging, but the thing is that i'm ussing Nokia Messaging and I cann't figure out how to configure this. any ideas? Thanks!

I actually got this to work.  When I did the check for new firmware, the system told me I was up to date.  I reflashed the firmware anyway.  From a blank device, everything is integrated perfectly.
Whe I go the new phone, I used the  backup and restore function of Nokia PC suit to restore settings to my phone.  When I did that (with up to date firmware) I had the problems mentioned above.  I suspect then that this is an issue with the restore function, although I have not bothered to isolate the issue as I now have a working phone.
So what worked for me is:
1) Run firmware update.
2) Firmware update tells me my phone is up to date and asks if I want to replace the firmware anyway.  I chose yes
3) Reflash and lose all programs, data, themes, etc.
4) Completely set up the phone from scratch
5) Everything works beautifully, except for the 4 hours of my life I will never get back

  • BUG : Cannot set Nokia Messaging as default client...

    Hi,
Nokia Email  v.9.5.3.75 on Nokia E71 (firmware v300.21.012).
    Mail for Exchange v2.09.158.
I can select 'E-mail'  as default mailbox in 'messages > settings'. However when in Gallery and trying to send a picture from the list it opens Mail for Exchange client ! And when opening the picture .. and then trying to send .. it lets me choose the mailbox (that should happen in the list-view also !) .. but .. when i try to send via 'E-mail' (the default) nothing happens !
Please fix a.s.a.p. since these are pretty basic functions if you ask me that should have been tested !

  • Can I set gmail as my default email client?

I am having trouble with Apple Mail and would prefer to use gmail as my default email client. Is there any way to do that in aperture?

Gmail is not a Mail Client. It's a mail service that needs a client to access it. That client can be a Web Browser, or an app like Mail, Entourage, Thunderbird etc. So, no you cannot set Gmail as the default email client. It's a bit like saying can I make HBO my Television Set.
If you want to use an app as default mail client in Aperture then the chosen app has to be scriptable, and that limits your options. There are only four supported: Mail, Entourage, AOL and Eudora.
Alternatively, you can access the Library from any Mail client or service via their Attach options:
In any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*+(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)+*
    Or any Media Browser.

  • HT1637 How to set gmail as my default email program?

Hi, I have attempted to follow the instructions to change my default email program. However, when I open "mail" and go to general preferences, it gives me the options of selecting from an application downloaded on my computer. I want to use gmail as my default email program. But it isn't an ap on my computer, it's online. So how do I set gmail as my default email program? Thanks very much!

If you mean set it in your browser, you can't As you already pointed out, gmail is not a program on your computer it is a web site. You need to get your gmail account into an email client, such as Mail, on your computer. Then set your default email client to Mail, which in effect will be the same as using gmail since Mail is set up with your gmail account.

  • Nokia Messaging - Broken; Default Nokia email clie...

I've had the e65, e71 and now the N97.  Great phones, they just can't do email.
So, first I want to congratulate the idiot product manager at nokia that thought that removing support for IMAP IDLE in the default Nokia email client would make the Nokia messaging service successful.  That guy is definitely the BIGGEST idiot in Nokia.  Second, I'd like to congratulate the second biggest Nokia idiot, for charging for the Messaging service.  This was a chance for nokia to get on top and they totally screwed it up.  Closed platforms eventually die.  Who wants an OVI chat when you can have fring or Nimbuzz?  Not only do they charge for the instant email notifications, but also the service doesn't work.  You can't send mail through Nokia Messenger if your smtp server uses authentication and TLS.
So here's to Nokia becoming #3 and eventually disappearing...  Cheers!  The hardware's great, but there's some real idiots working for Nokia.  Luckily there's Profimail...

Thanks to your suggestions I was able to get it work.
I think it is quite confusing the way Nokia handles email. At least for me anyway. I was not aware that Nokia Email, the application on the E72 is different that Nokia Messaging, which is the online service. I thought everything that goes through Nokia Email is Nokia Messaging. It turns out that the best way to have your email on E72 is through Nokia Messaging(and to get it you need a cellular data connection; Wlan connection would not do it).
To answer your question: yes, indeed, when I manaully configured my Gmail account using the option "Other" I could also opt for syncronization "After notification", which is not any more available now that I configured my email using Nokia Messaging (on the Nokia Messaging webiste I configured my Gmail account). Now for "When to syncronize" I have: Time synchronization Off. And it works.
Again, I think Nokia should work on improving the interface for setting up an email account, making it more user friendly. Today, a very well known Symbian web writer presented his work around with Nokia Email. Not sure if he got it right though, because I tried that before and it was not working for me. Click here

  • Error message about default email client

Whenever Reader XI loads this error message appears:
"Either there is no default email client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client."
I have no idea how to fix this in Outlook after several attempts. Can I fix this within Reader or at least have the message never appear even if the client issue is not fixed?

Yesterday someone posted an interesting workaround that seems to get rid of the problem: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5529300#5529300 (post 19).

  • Nokia Messaging deletes my emails

    Hi all,
I'm a new E66 user, I set up my email on Nokia messaging and started using today. I'm using an IMAP email server. I receives emails into my phone, they are kept in the server but after outlook receives the emails, they are deleted from the server. And after that emails are deleted from my phone immediately. It doesn't wait for 3 days or so.
And also I can't change "3 days" option from the options menu, it says "Setting can not be changed!"when I tried to.
Because I'm a new user, maybe I'm doing something wrong but I tried the options and couldn't find anything about it.I updated phonesoftware and download the last version of Nokia Messaging.
    Any help?
    Thanks

You're doing just great. When you pull your mail with Outlook, it will be deleted from the servers. Log in to Nokia Messaging with a PC and check the settings.

  • Nokia Messaging - cannot send emails...

    Hi,
I have recently got an E71 on the 3 network.
a week or so ago i installed nokia messaging (email.nokia.com) to use with my @ntlworld.com email address.
I believe i was receiving and sending messages ok at this point.
the other day i tried to send an email and almost immediately received a message to say it had failed to send
from : Mail Delivery Subsystem, subjectelivery Status Notification (Failure)
    etc etc.
And I get this each time (and obviously the email doesn't send)
I have tried uninstalling from phone, deleting the email address from my account on email.nokia.com, then re-seting up agin, but still have the same problem.
    Any ideas?
Is it a problem with my phone/the network/ntlworld/nokia messaging?
    Look forward to you replies!
    Many Thanks

Hello I had the same problem a few months ago the way I solved this issue was.
    1. Go to Http://email.nokia.com 2. login and click "edit setting" 3. next to the affected account(s) click "change server settings" 4. remove/delete the "outgoing email server" AND "outgoing server port"
    5. click "Save" ( X ) out and try to send a email.
This should fix the problem it sure did for me
After posting I checked link I didn't like where it sent me try this one--->      https://email.nokia.com/account/loginUI.action

  • Nokia Messaging Accessing CompuServe Email

I've added a few email addresses to my Nokia Messaging account with no problem
including Gmail, AOL & Yahoo mail accounts.
However, when I try to add my CompuServe email address using domain Compuserve.com
I get an error, "Unable to connect to the server. Please try again later".
It also doesn't give me an opportunity to set specific parameters for the Incoming & Outgoing server as
    another email address did.
Over the summer AOL converted CompuServe Classic email addresses to their AOL email system which
allows access with POP3 or IMAP. I have been able to access my CompuServe email via POP3 with
several email clients with no problem.
Has anyone tried to been able to set-up a CompuServe email address with Nokia Messaging?
If you have I would appreciate hearing about your experience.
    Mark

did you ever figure this out? This is a really annoying issue and you'd figure you could delete them.

  • Questions on Nokia Messaging (uploading sent email...

    Hi all,
    I have a few questions on Nokia Messaging;
Does it connect to (non-Exchange)  email servers via imap idle?
When I send an email, can it be uploaded to the 'Sent' folder in my email server?
When I delete an email from my Nokia, can the email be deleted from the server as well?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    1) No, even though the specs state otherwise. You may only have it pull Mails every 5 Minutes, or have them pushed using Nokia Messaging Service. Quite some disappointed customers hope this will change in the future, but I don't believe in it, because I feel nokia wants to force one to use their push service.
    2) No, at least not automatic. Of course you can sync your sent items folder and manually move your sent messages there from your local(on your phone)sent items folder, but that is not very efficient.
    3) Yes
Mort, a happy E71 and not so happy E72 owner/user.

  • Nokia Messaging not deleting emails from Gmail ser...

When I access my gmail account via Nokia Messaging on my E72, any emails that I delete using my nokia are not deleted from my gmail account - instead they are being transferred to my All Mail folder, which is where I keep email that I have ARCHIVED, not email that I have deleted, so it's messed up my archived mail and also means that when I access my gmail via POP in Outlook, items that I have previously 'deleted' on my mobile have to be downloaded and sorted through again. Is there a way to change this behaviour? At the moment the gmail app is a better option.

Unfortunately this didn't work for me (E75). I created an extra label. I also subscribed in imap to this folder. When I want to delete a message, I move it to this folder / label. Every now and then I delete all these mails from gmail on my PC.
    Suyogmh wrote:
This is well known behavior of Gmail and not problem with Nokia Messaging as such.
Gmail has different way of handling emails with labels instead of folders. So "All Mails" means all mails except Spam and Trash. Check following link for more details.
    http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en &answer=77657
Check if following settings are in order in Gmail - settings - forwarding and POP/IMAP in web browser.
    Status: IMAP is enabled
Auto-Expunge : Do not automatically expunge messages
When a message is expunged from the last visible IMAP folder:  Immediately delete the message forever
Folder Size Limits: Do not limit the number of messages in an IMAP folder
Now head over to email.nokia.com and login with your username/pwd
Under My Email Addresses, for your gmail account , click edit settings
Now in "Mail folders to sync" Please ensure that you select "All Mail" , "Spam" and " Trash"
You can also select other labels , max upto 10.
Click Save changes and log out.
Now in your Nokia Phone, Open Nokia Messaging and Sync again.
Go to Gmail and these new labels should appear there.
If you want to delete a message from all folders, move it to the [Gmail]/Trash folder.
If you delete a message from [Gmail]/Spam or [Gmail]/Trash, it will be deleted permanently.
So I know it's little extra effort but we can do it. I hope you find this useful. If yes, don't forget to give me Kudos

Outlook 2010 is a Windows program, it does not run on Lion, look again and tell us what you really have.

  • Nokia Messaging sets up mailbox in messagning appl...

I'm facing problem in setting up Nokia Messaging on my 5800 phone. After installing Nokia Messagin on the phone, I found 2 pink colored "@" icons under App menu, "E-mail setup" and "E-mail". Clicking on either icons takes me to Email setup wizard. I configured my gmail account and password. I puts a new mail box named "gmail.com" under the Messaging menu. I am hoping to get the mailbox configured under the "E-mail" menu. What am I doing wrong here? Please help.
I hope the Nokia Messaging applciation can push email to my phone and consumes less battery than other polling email clients. Do I need to keep this application open in the background for the push thingy to work?
    Appreciate any help.

it seems that you have created a nokia email client..
have you downloaded the nokia messaging client on email.nokia.com using your phone web browser? after that, you need to click the GET NOW> and install.
you need to go to Menu > Settings and Application mgr..
select Installed apps. and look for the pink sign. and create an email.
