Setting Non-perpetual Inventory in SAP Business One
Dear SAP partners,
Do you know how to setup non-perpetual inventory in SAP Business One?
I have tried to uncheck "Use Perpetual Inventory" in Administration > System Initialization > Company Details > Basic Initialization but SAP shows "item cost cannot be base price origin for gross profit calculation".
I also have tried to uncheck "Calculate Gross Profit" in Administration > System Initialization > Document Settings > General but SAP still shows "Item cost cannot be base price origin for gross profit calculation".
Thank you for your help.
Regards,
Jimmy
Dear Jitin,
I am able to change anything under the dropdown of the 'Calculate Gross Profit'
i can change Base Price Origin, choose option button of calculate % Gross Profit.
I am sure to uncheck Perpetual Inventory, but SAP's still showing "Item cost cannot be base price origin for gross profit calculation, even though i already uncheck "Calculate Gross Profit".
There is also no transactions entered in the database.
What should I do then?
Thank you.

Set up a template for sales quotes in SAP Business One.
I would like a sales quotation template to contain the same 10 items so that I do not have to enter the items each time. What is the best way to do this? Is there any sales quotation template in SAP for this?
I am using SAP Business One 2007A SP0 PL49 and B1UP.You may use Draft function to make your own template for Sales Quotes.
Thanks,
Gordon -

Inventory Accounting & Management
If you deal in goods, of any type, you'll appreciate the Inventory capabilities in Tally.ERP 9.
You can comprehensively record all types of inventory transactions, using goods receipt notes, delivery notes, stock journals, manufacturing journals and physical stock journals. All stock movements are fully recorded and maintained in stock registers.
Developed for all manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers or traders a small list of features are briefly described below:
Manufacturers:
. Bill of materials and Manufacturing Journals, to record material conversions
. Compound bill of materials support, for units that contain assemblies
. Multiple locations (godowns)
. Excise for manufacturers, including all documentation and invoice
. Costing for jobs
Distributors & Wholesalers:
. Multiple price lists, with effective dates of applicability

. Multi-currency transactions - buy and sell across the world - with integrated forex gain/loss calculations
. Physical stock take records to adjust physical vs. actual stocks
. Maintain batch & expiry details
Purchases & Payables: from Order to Payment
Tally.ERP 9 delivers the entire purchase cycle whether the need is the complete purchase order - goods receipt - rejections & returns - advances, debits & payments or a single payment entry, fulfilling all needs.
To ensure that you have the right stocks and minimize carrying costs, Tally.ERP 9 delivers the following to improve purchase orders:
. Define Re-order levels as a definite number or based on consumption
. Define minimum quantity to order as a definite number or based on consumption
. Pull up a report that shows the stock position, including complete details of open purchaseorders, sales orders that need to be fulfilled - check on past purchase history, and then place orders
. Optionally stagger delivery dates in the PO
When receiving goods:
. Make entries in accordance with supporting documentation, including errors your suppliers could have made (say of multiplication & round off)
. Incorporate additional costs
. Automatically manage input taxes
. Flexibility allows receipt of goods, quantities and rates different from that ordered - since this is common in real life
. Record samples & free items (using different 'actual' & 'billed' quantities)
. Multiple receipts for one order or one receipt for multiple orders, or against verbal ordersIn case there is a need to add other costs (say coolie and cartage) these additional charges can be apportioned to the cost of goods purchased.
Supplied goods may not match your needs and these are managed by the 'Rejections Out' inventory voucher. Supplier dues, input taxes and inventory positions are updated.
Suppliers often indicate likely profits, which may not be met. In case such assurances are made, you can look at Item profitability reports, and get the facts right. You could then negotiate a rebate and record this as a debit note.
Keep tabs of how much is due to whom, when. Manage advances, payables & post dated checks. Ensure there are no errors in payments - print checks from Tally.ERP 9.
Sales & Receivables: from Order to Receipt
The lifeline of a business, efficiencies in sales operations, both of goods & services, directly impact growth and profitability. The need to optimise and keep a close watch here requires exceptional capabilities from your business IT system - and Tally.ERP 9 meets these demands.
The sales process is supported with the following documents:
. Quotations - records of quotes
. Sales orders - accepted customer orders
. Deliver Notes - documents that accompany goods
. Sales Invoices/Cash Bill - to record the sale
. Credit Notes - for financial adjustments
. Rejections in - for goods returns
. Receipts - for advances and receipts
Do you have cash sales (sales across the counter)? With support for Point of Sale printers, bar codes and receipts in multiple tenders, you POS enable your business at no additional cost. Product sales may come with added services - and the integrated product & service billing will close this.
Enforce credit limits, where needed. Along with the Payment Performance of Debtors report you can identify persistent problems and take necessary business decisions. Interest for delays & reminder letters aid in collection.
For businesses engaged in Excisable goods, you get full support for Excise for Traders & Manufacturing Excise - matter of fact a business could be both!
Make multiple deliveries from one order, or one from multiple orders - this common need is available across all documents of the sales process.
Do you have multiple classes of customers? You can easily setup multiple prices (even in advance and specify the date from which they are effective).
Discounts against the line, or for the document, additional charges as a percentage or lump sum, automatic round off of bill totals, automatic computation of VAT & Service tax, returns & exchanges are all available.Need to verify that you are making the desired sales margins? Item wise and bill wise profitability reports will help you keep tabs.
Multi-company
Security: With multiple companies, possibly including personal accounts, you may need to control who gets access to which companies, and to do what. You can set up users, grant or deny access - and these are defined for each company.
Remote Access: You choose to specify which company is accessible remotely. You choose which remote users have access; you decide what access a remote user gets.
Central User Management: Users come and go. You might also have a password policy requiring users to change passwords every few weeks. You can take advantage of the ease of central user and password management that Tally.NET identities carry - and even remotely manage these while not in office.

What is Series B
This Series will deliver major enhancements both in entirely new areas of functionality as well as in technology capabilities.
Technology & Capability Enhancements
Multi-session
Support for multiple application windows, which can even be launched by clicking on a mail link or a 'shortcut., Each of these are simultaneous 'windows' into different areas of your business processes & reports. Dynamic data refresh and the display of different views when resizing - for e.g. smaller windows displaying a more consolidated view of data, will improve organizational management and productivity.
Multi-threaded
A 'thread' is a specific task that is being performed by the microprocessor. Enhanced capabilities will be enabled such that each application window can perform more tasks simultaneously instead of linearly, including processing messages from the server. Multi-core processors, even on the desktop, are now common. We will take full advantage of these as well.
Multi Stack Architecture for Scale-up & Scale-down Deployments
To deliver the capabilities described above, and the ones that follow, Tally.ERP 9 will become 'componentised' - consisting of several layers of programs - often referred to as 'n-tier architecture'.
These software components are horizontally scalable, meaning that you can add one more computer to increase the computing power needed for a layer. In the same way, you can remove systems as needed, or collapse them into a single system - all of them even on a notebook, if required.
High Transaction Capacity with Low Latency & Management
Let us say that you start generating a report that needs to be extracted from a few thousand vouchers. This process is run in a 'session', which is isolated from all other users. Even if other users delete or modify any of the vouchers needed for the report while the report is being compiled, there is no impact on this session and you will get to see the report as if these other users did not exist.
In the same way, the user performing the edit will also be isolated. After the edit, he can open the voucher and see it with the changes he made, perhaps even delete it.
The architecture described above will in itself deliver substantial performance and transaction handling capacity. To push performance further in those cases when the storage media (typically the hard disk) is busy with other operations, additional capabilities will store these transactions 'temporarily' in a 'Q' for later write, while the user is free to continue his work (these transactions are protected against power failures and so on).
Payment Engine for Debit & Credit Cards
The facility for online payments using a variety of payment mechanisms (NEFT, online banking, credit cards), as well as receive payments (Debit / Credit Cards, NEFT etc) will be available.
Functional Enhancements
Online Banking and Reconciliation
Collaborating with Banks who wish to facilitate their customers with this capability, we will provide Online Banking - including Payment Instructions, Standing Instructions, DD, NEFT,RTGS Transfers, Balance Queries, Instruction Status, Automated or Semi-Automated Bank Reconciliation.
Point-of-Sale for most Retail Environments
Series B will support dedicated POS terminals, with Credit/Debit Card, Discount Coupons and various other payment mixes, Loyalty support, schemes, multi-layered supervisory control, simultaneous keyboard and scanner controls, integrated or isolated printing of bill and credit card authorisation slips, item substitution, rate markup/markdowns, integration with measuring devices - such as weighing scales, bill suspension and retrieval, bill reversals and cancellations, etc. It can also be used for other store operations (receipting, inventory management etc), and general business operations (finance and accounts) - both on the same machine or separate machines.
Income Tax
Comprehensive IT coverage encompassing corporate & individual income tax, including typical payroll requirements and e-Returns will be available.
EXIM Documentation
Import & export documentation has become a growing need with the world economy becoming more open. This requirement will be supported, additionally covering the processes that need to be managed along with the documentation.
Job Costing
The enhanced Job Costing functionality will support most job costing needs to a level of granularity that is increasingly needed. We expect that you will be able to handle most, if not all, project accounting needs as well.
Fixed Assets
To take advantage of tax breaks as well as to manage organizational assets, this feature will support all requirements - from opening assets, adding, removing, amalgamating, grouping, vendor tagging, AMC's, servicing, service calendars, repairs and upkeep, refurbishing, breaking-down, depreciating and disposal for complete fixed asset management.

Mobile Work-Station for SAP Business One
Hello Everyone
As I am aware that most of you have seen already various mobile solutions that integrate to SAP B1, Amodat Mobile Work-Station is currently the only solution that offers a complete mobile work-station for the four main field functions of SAP Business one: sales/van-sales, service, CRM and warehouse management on PDAs and laptops in on-line/off-line environment.
We refer to those solutions as workstations, since they provide a COMPLETE working functionality for corporate users in the field with features such as full order, collection and distribution management (including invoicing and supporting multiple price lists), on the go inventory management, service calls dispatch optimization tools, document attachments to accounts and activities, GPS location and much more.
Although we have numerous R/3 customers, our main focused is the SME market where we can offer robust solutions for a very reasonable price. Since 2001 we have implemented through our partners hundreds of projects ranging from 5 to over 500 users across Europe, North America and Australia.
I will be happy to provide more information on the solutions and set up live demo if anybody is interested.Hi Jai,
I'll be happy to schedule a demo with you and your customer. I am not sure what is your time zone though and how to communicate directly with you. since we can not send email you could reach me through Linkedin Nir (Matan) Aharon. please add me to your contact list and let me know your email.
Best Regards,

Upgrade to SAP Business One 8.8 - Legal List Format
Hi All,
I am currently experimenting with the upgrade process from 2007A PL46 to SAP Business One 8.8 PL5.
On some company databases that I try I get the error Legal List Format - Failed during the database upgrade process. Does anyone know what this refers to and how it can be fixed?
Many thanks,
DamianNo it's a very clean installation in the sense that it is a database that has only run against the core SAP Business one. the only add on that would have been used during the original set-up would have been copy-express and DTW.
The company data i am using is a copy of our own corporate data, nothing fancy as we are an SAP partnership so no real inventory even.

Know more detail about the Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One ?
SAP Business One 9.1 is about to release this year and we can see in the feature enhancements that a significant update is planned in the Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One, more commonly known as RSP. Let’s have a quick look what update is planned for RSP in version 9.1:
Enhancements planned in Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One 9.1
RSP is planned to support both SAP Business One on Microsoft SQL Server as well as SAP Business One on HANA Database
RSP Processes and Reports adapted to SAP HANA Database
With this plan RSP will help in the areas of Download, Installation, Go-Live Check, Monitoring, Upgrade and Support for SAP Business One both on SQL Server and HANA.
But like me (non-SAP B1 Consultant) many of you have the question what is RSP and how it helps in support? Here I have tried to gather all information.
What is Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One?
The remote support platform for SAP Business One is designed to protect a SAP Business One installation by providing automated and remote support in a high-volume business.
The platform monitors the entire SAP Business One environment. By significantly reducing the time between the appearance, identification, and resolution of issues, the remote support platform for SAP Business One minimizes the impact on customer databases and processes.
Some Key Features of Remote Support Platform:
Showing alerts to SAP B1 Admin about the events which require their attention, such as low disk space, database backups, etc.
Incident Reports against the issues identified which require attention of SAP Support
Company Database Backup and Restore options
Regular fixes of Company Database inconsistencies
Check, Download and Install regular updates in SAP Business One
Upload Logs and required files to SAP Support or to Partner Support on regular basis
Some details about RSP Backup Management
Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly backups
Perform differential and full database backups
Back up transaction logs
Back up files to shared folders on a network
System Status Report through RSP
From June 1st 2013, it will be mandatory to install, configure and upload the System Status Report (SSR) from Remote Support Platform (RSP) for SAP Business One in order to receive support for messages of a technical nature (upgrades, performance & crashes, etc).
Database uploads only via RSP
From June 1st 2013 SAP Business One Support will only accept database uploads to SAP via remote support platform for SAP Business One. In certain exceptional circumstances STFP may be used but this will constitute a minority of cases.
Microsoft Windows PowerShell Scripting
In the remote support platform studio, you can create tasks using Microsoft Windows PowerShell scripting. PowerShell enables you to perform remote administrative tasks on customers’ Microsoft Windows operating systems, by providing full access to Component Object Model (COM) and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI).Some Network Prerequisite for RSP
To achieve the internet connection test, you must allow port 80 for the RSP external communication
Disabling antivirus firewall or add the RSP to the trusted zone of the antivirus
Set the correct proxy
Disabling Windows firewall in the TP_link Wireless Configuration Utility

Error when starting SAP Business One Integration Server Service
Hi all,
I have a very urgent problem when installing B1iSN:
I'm installing B1iSN2007 for a customer (Windows server2008R2, SBO 8.8.1),
and at the beginning of the installation, after instaling the technology, I have an error,
The Tomcat server can't start.
I get the following error:
Windows could not start the SAP Business One Integartion service on Local Computer. For more Information, review the system
event Log.If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 0.
In the event viewer I didn't find any more details.
In the tomcat logs (Under SAP Business One Integration\B1iServer\tomcat\logs) I find this:

What is the problem? How can I fix it?
Thanks a lot
ChanaHi Trinidad,
Thanks for your help!!!
1.
I didn't install EventSender and DIProxy yet, I tried first to upload and deploy the zip files, but I couldn't open the Itegration Application Explorer.
2.
The jvm.dll file is in in the folder pointed by the logs: C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\SAP Business One Integration\jdk1.5.0_xx_sap\jre\bin\server
and it is also in C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\SAP Business One Integration\jdk1.5.0_xx_sap_64\jre\bin\server
I tried running the file java5w.exe, but I got an error message:
Access is denied
Unable to open the service tomcat5
Thne I managed to open it by "rua as administrator".
the Java Virtual Machine path is points to the java 1.5 version folder.
Is it possible that the reason that the service can't start is related to administrator rigts??
In the properties in the Integration Service (services.msc):
It is set to be run with the local system account.
all other properties looks fine.
in the properties of the tomcat5.exe (and tomcat5w.exe , I tried both)
In the Compatibility tab I tried setting the flag "Run this program in compatibility mode for" to Vista, windows 7, and server 2008
I didn't have the option of Windows XP.
I have also set the Privilege level of: "Run this program as administrator" to true.
But still the service won't start.
What can be the problem?
What else can I check?
Thanks a lot,

Addon not loading - B1 Usability Package for all users in SAP Business One
Hello, I am a new admin to SAP B1 and am about to go live in a few weeks. We are running SAP Business One v. 8.80.227.
Envirorment details: Dedicated server for SAP database, and Terminal Server for remote connections.
I have a demo group of users in Active Directory that have permission to Remote Desktop to the TS and load SAP. For now, theses users are local admins on the TS. ( Permissions to be revised once addon issues are worked out ). I am the companies tech, and we have a SAP implementation company leading the project development.
Currently the addons that we are running are CRSB1Addon SAP 8.8 and B1UP from boyumit.
For one of the users in the Active Directory Security Group all the addon's work great. However the other users get the error below;
When logging in the system message window shows the following:
Failed to assign SAP Business One user license to SAP Add-ons. The Add on is configured to automatically load on startup, yet once I get the error, I open the Add on Manager and I don't see the B1UP in either tab at all.
The error on the TS in the log is here:

Edited by: dontforgetken on Mar 18, 2010 4:05 PMhello Ken - Boyum IT has its own License Administration - path of Administration > Add Ons > B1 Usability Package > License Administration...
Do all of the users have a checkmark to give them access???
When a user has only the Main Menu window open, select the "Form Settings" icon and follow the same path on the Form Settings window that is diplayed and make sure they have checkmarks next to the B1 Usability Package to be "Visible".
Are all of the user set to display Boyum IT on their machines???
LOL - I am not technical so I have no idea what that other stuff means...
Hope that helps...

Dear All,
I installed SAP Business One 8.81 PL04 (on Server) and SQL server 2005.
My questions are
1) i install B1 integration component, when i am opening the integration framework i am getting a windows security dialog box in which it is mentioned that "The server 127.0.0.0 at B1iP_dummy requires a user name and password.
Warning: The server is requesting that your user name and password be sent in the insecure mannar(basic authentication without a secure connection.
User Name :B1iadmin
Password:xxxxxx
Here my question is that if i provide username and password, Integration Solution for SAP Business One is opened but is not reflecting any data when i am clicking on SLD, Scnarios, Maintaining, Control Centre.......etc.
2) I want to connect to the server through the ipad.
I put the user as mobile user, i have given UDID number of Ipad, phone no of mobile user in SAP Business One.
I have given the server details like IP add: 000.000.000.000:8080 and kept SSL On and given DB Name as SBODemoIN and username as 'ABC'.
When i am entering the password it is reflecting me an error "an ssl error has occurred and a secure connection to the server cannot be made. [-1200]'.
I want to know where i have done the mistake.
Note: i tried by giving ip with B1 port number like : 000.000.000.000:30000 again its reflecting same error.
Can any body help me out.Lets try to keep it together ...
1.) in SAP Business One you have to set the following settings for the user you want to connect with
a.) checkbox "mobile user" is checked
b.) mobile-number (must be digit by digit the same as you set it in the settings of the App)
c.) UDID of the iPad/iPhone (this is a 40 (!!!) digit alphanumerical number of the device)
ATTENTION - since SBO App. v.1.6.0, the UDID is no longer in use, now yo have to set the W-LAN MAC Adress here
d.) the User has a limited or a professional user license
e.) the user has a B1i licence
2.) settings in the iPad/iPhone App
a.) Server: IP Adress of the Bi1 Integration Server followed by :8443 (e.g.: 91.55.110.15:8443)
8080 is the http port (unsecure), while 8443 is the https port (secure)
b.) SSL: is on
c.) Company DB: the database Name of the company you wanted to connect to (and where you have made the user setting above) (e.g.: SBODemoIN)
d.) Usercocode: the log in name of the user you made the above settings for (e.g.: manager)
e.) Phonenumber: digit by digit the same as above 1.).b.)
f.) Demosystem: needless to say, this is Off
3.) network settings
a.) certainly the port 8443 must be available from outside the network
b.) VPN connection to the network must be possible
c.) the VPN connection setting has to be set in the iPad(iPhone
If this all is set and done,
1.) you first have to establish a VPN connection with your iPad/iPhone
2.) and now/than you should be able to connect to the company with the iPad/iPhone App
Hope this helps and make it e little bit clearer how this all works.
The SBO App is "nothing else" as an WebService-Call-Interface from the iPad/iPhone to the B1i Server. Every form/view you are filling in the App, is a WebService call/request to SAP Business One. To Send this WebService Request to the B1i Server, you first have to connect into the company network (via VPN) otherwise you call cannot reach the B1i Server ...

SAP Business One iPad Apps Sales Catalog photo problem
Dear all,
I have a question about the iPad SAP Business One Mobile Apps Sales Catalog.
Inside the Sales Catalog, it will show the Item group with pictures and when you look inside the item group, it will show the Item image which is set up in the Item Master.
Can anyone help on this? Thanks very much.According to the B1if sap.GetItemPicture Scenario, the path to the picture is looked up by the following query.
SELECT BitmapPath AS 'bitmappath' FROM OADP
The PictureName is passed into the GetItemPicture web service as a parameter.
This leads me to my next question:
What do you have the Pictures Folder (BitmapPath) set to in General Settings?
I am guessing you have it set to C:\Program Files\SAP\..........
The problem with this is that it save the picture to your local client computer and B1if is running on the server. You will want to change the path to a network path that looks something like this:
\\server\b1_shr\Pictures
Why?
If the Pictures Folder is set to C:\Program Files\SAP\.....
1. When a user attaches an image, SAP Business One client places the picture in C:\Program Files\SAP\..... path on the client workstation, not on the server.
2. B1if is usually run on the server and does not have access to a client workstation
If Pictures folder is C:\Program Files\SAP\......., B1if looks up the Pictures Folder set in the database and appends the file. In this case, B1if is reading C:\Program Files\SAP\.....\<imagefile>.jpg on the server in which B1if is running.
3. The only time using a C:\Program Files\SAP\...... would work is when the client, server and B1if is running on the same machine and the permission to the C:\Program Files\SAP\..... folder is set up to allow B1if to read from the directory and the client to write to the directory.
Using UNC notation
if the Pictures Folder is set to a UNC path \\Server\b1_shr\Pictures
1. When the user attaches an image, SAP Business One client places the picture on the server
2. B1if will read the picture from the server from the shared folder on the server
Conclusion
You need to use UNC notation to identify the path of the Picture Folder so that all pictures are placed in the same location.
What is your path set to for the Pictures Folder in General Settings? -
Cannot connect SAP Business One with iPad
Hey all,
I am new to SAP Business One. And i am exploring SAP Business One Mobile Applicaiton for iPad.
I've tried to follow the step to set up my both SAP Business One and iPad but failed.
The message "Connecting to server" keep loading and after few minutes show me "Tje request timed out (-1001)"
So am I did something wrong? Or miss out something?
Please advice with this problem.

Wai LengHey Lisa,
Yes, I've tried what I found in this forum and the Support Portal.
But it's is failed again.
As iPad doesn't really need a mobile phone number, so i just simple key in a number for both SAP B1 and my iPad. Is it any problem?
Another question, I've tested my connection for B1D1, but failed, following is the error message.
com.sap.b1i.adapter.dia.exception.ConnectionFailedException: Connect to Business One failed.
(-107) Unable to connect with the specified username and or password
Anything i miss out?
Thank you.
