Setting other error pages (400, 403, 500)

OS X Server only allows you to have a custom 404 error. If I modify the virtual host file, it is overwritten the next time a change is made within the GUI. Is there a way to successfully set these other error pages?
10.4.10 Server

The more advanced the configuration you need is, the less you will be able to use Server Admin.

    Hi,
Except for the application error pages you should also keep in mind that some error pages are generated by SAP Webdispatcher - presuming you are using one in front of your J2EE-Engine
You find some information about this type of error pages under  <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_webas630/helpdata/en/f6/3c0b0389cea34ba66f10d62b718a1a/frameset.htm">help.sap.com</a>

  • How do I (re-) set the error page which comes up with an HTTP 404 or 500 error?

I've running Mozilla 3.6.6 with more than a few plug-ins.
Somehow, the browser brings up a yahoo search page when it hits a 404 or 500 error.
I looked in about:config and didn't see anything obvious.

Thanks for the swift reply, cor-el - unfortunately, no joy with this approach.
    A. As my named user (called "greg", surprise, surprise, no secret there...)
Run Firefox; select Edit > Preferences > Advanced : Encryption:
Here I get no option for Certificates, but I do get View Certificates - then tabs for:
    - Servers, under which my company's remote logon URL is listed - Edit button is grey
    - Authorities, under which the Verisign...G5 entry may be edited; 3 options:
    1. may identify websites (ticked)
    2. may identify mail users (unticked)
    3. may identify software makers (ticked)
I ticked 2, tried again - same failure. Unticked it.
    B. As root.
Run Firefox; select Edit > Preferences > Advanced : Encryption:
Here I get no option for Certificates, but I do get View Certificates - then tabs for:
    - Servers, under which my company's remote logon URL is NOT listed
    - Authorities, under which the Verisign...G5 entry may be edited; 3 options:
    1. may identify websites (ticked)
    2. may identify mail users (unticked)
    3. may identify software makers (unticked)
I ticked 2 and 3, tried again - same failure. Unticked them.
Maybe a solution would be, in some way, to add my company's remote logon URL to the list of Servers while running Firefox as root. The Export and Import buttons may help here. However, when I first declined their certificate I was running Firefox as greg, not as root, so I am a bit suspicious there - what can be done as greg should be undoable as greg.
This is doing my head in. Maybe it's time to step back and think a bit. Maybe try Citrix's online help (already spent a fair amount of time there with no joy either).
So, thanks again for the reply - I've generally tried to provide a good list of what's up, and your reply has given me food for thought. OK, I'll keep trying.

  • WebLogic Error Pages

  • Why do Chatropolis entry pages give "403 Forbidden" error on all browsers?

I've been running Mac OS 10.4.11 successfully since it's release, and I normally have the following browsers installed & working: Safari 3.1.1 (my default/first choice), Safari 2.0.4, Firefox 2.0.0.14, and the PC version of Internet Explorer (6.0.2) which I can run in Windows 2000 under Virtual PC 7.0.2 emulation.
Suddenly, 2 days ago, for no reason at all, the ability of my Mac to access any of the chatroom entry pages on the chatropolis.com website stopped working. (Please be warned - BEFORE you visit chatropolis.com - that it primarily hosts ADULT chatrooms!). This is after many years of problem-free access to these pages, using my current Mac, and previous Macs.
I can still access the home page, the user list pages, etc., but trying to access the room entry pages for any chatroom at all gives a simple black page with white text, which reads:
    403 Forbidden
You are not authorized to access this resource.
The entry pages all take the form http://csX.chatropolis.com/enter/roomname
where "X" is the server number that the particular room is hosted on (normally "7" or "10") and "roomname" is the name of the chatroom that I'm trying to enter. For example, the URL of the room entry page for the room "Current Events" is http://cs10.chatropolis.com/enter/currentevents
I can access any page on the Chatropolis site that DOESN'T start http://csX.chatropolis.com/enter/....... but none of the pages that DO start this way!
This occurs whichever browser I use, and even occurs using the PC version of Internet Explorer 6.0.2 running under Virtual PC emulation!
I've tried all of the following to solve the problem, but nothing works:
I've tried deleting both Safari 3.1.1 & Safari 2.0.4, and then reinstalling Safari 3.1.1.
I've purged all the caches, cookies, browsing histories, etc. of all my browsers, both within the browsers themselves, and by using Intego Washing Machine 1.1 (which comes free with Intego NetBarrier 5). I do this purging regularly anyway.
I've restarted the Mac several times.
Using Disk Utility, I've repaired permissions on the boot HD several times. I've verified the boot HD, and no problems were found.
I've rebooted the Mac from my Alsoft DiskWarrior 4.0 CD and successfully run "Repair Disk Permissions" and "Check All Files & Folders" on all my hard drives, including the boot disk, and I've successfully rebuilt & replaced the directories on all the drives.
I've successfully accessed the pages in question using a friends Mac, who lives very nearby, and uses the same product (2 MB cable broadband internet connection) from the same ISP as me.
I've searched for all files on my Mac that have a modification date of 2 days ago, and deleted any that are in any way relevant to web browsers.
I've emailed the owner of Chatropolis (Michael Ludwick) and asked for his help. He thought that maybe I'd installed some software prior to the problem arising, but this isn't the case. He also dismissed my theory that my ISP might be blocking access for some reason. On the day I first emailed him (Sunday), he told me that there had been over 700,000 successful logins, and that I was the only person to contact technical support that day saying that I couldn't gain access. He tells me that "The error page actually resides on your machine so the src isn't important" even though the colour scheme of the error page matches every other error page on Chatropolis!
I now suspect that the problem lies in the part of the Mac OS which is activated when certain types of pages on the internet are accessed, whichever browser makes the call - some deep part of the OS that is normally invisible to the user, and has to function normally for certain types of internet access to take place.
All non-entry pages on Chatropolis work perfectly, as do all other websites, as does sending & receiving email.
Everything is bang up-to-date with Software Update. Nothing was installed or removed prior to the problem occurring.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be very grateful. I'm no UNIX geek, but I've been using the Mac OS since the System 6 days, and I know my way around it pretty well. I'd rather venture into the dark abyss that is Terminal and perform some sort of command line fix than have to reinstall the entire OS!
I've read many times over the years that Mac OS X performs housekeeping/janatorial tasks "overnight" from time to time, but I never leave my Mac on overnight. It's shutdown & restarted at least once a day. Is there perhaps one of these "housekeeping" tasks that has never been performed, and that should be, that might solve the problem? If so, how do I force these tasks to be performed immediately, to see if that helps?
Many thanks in advance for any constructive input!

    Diamond Dave wrote:
Reinstalling Safari 3.1.1 appears to have recreated a fresh copy of the WebKit.framework folder and all it's contents, in the correct place. Needless to say, as ever, this hasn't solved the problem...
Hmm. Wish I'd seen your posts earlier, I could have saved you some trouble. It's nothing on your machine. It's a problem at Chatropolis. I am able access a page on one of the two machines, the one at cs10.chatropolis.com. But the one at cs7.chatropolis.com, while the server is there, and can be pinged, sends back a "404 - not found" response.
No matter what the owner says, these errors are server errors on his end, and have nothing to do with any settings on your computer. He's simply mistaken when he says they are coming off your computer. It's possible that he's confused by how Internet Explorer on Windows can be set up so that it will give you an error page that looks a lot like the same error page you'll get from a Windows IIS server. Or he simply doesn't know the technical details.
But it doesn't look like he's running a Windows IIS server, either. According to the headers on his servers, they're running something called "IFCS", which a little digging shows to be something owned by his company.

  • How to call common error pages for all the exceptions

    Hi All
I have created the common ErrorPage in my application. In case of any error whether SQL,IO or JBO I want that error page be displayed. In the page definition I have given the errorpage name and also defined the error page as IS_ERROR_PAGE = true. But it is throwing Jbo exception at the top of the page itself. No redirection to the error page is done.
Though I have gone through various threads in this forum but still its not clear how to get the things working.
Can anyone please help me out in this regard?

    Hi,
I assume you mean that you set the error page in the web.xml file. Note that exceptions are handled first by the JSF framework. Please have a look at the developer guide

  • ADF/Webcenter Portal Error Page configuration in web.xml

    Hi All,
I am using jdeveloper version 11.1.1.6.0.
I set two error pages in my application by following web.xml entries.
      <error-page>
        <error-code>404</error-code>
        <location>/oracle/webcenter/portalapp/pages/AfError.html</location>
      </error-page>
      <error-page>
        <error-code>503</error-code>
        <location>/oracle/webcenter/portalapp/pages/SiteMaintenance.html</location>
</error-page>but it does not divert to the AfError.html page but shows 404 error.
    How to solve this.
Is it possible to set .jspx page in location attribute also.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Require as early as possible

    Hi,
this should be asked on the WebCenter forum. However, how likely is it that your error page also causes a 404 error? The message in you web.xml file are for site not found and site not available. So unless you redirect to something that is accessible you wont be able to tell whether it works or not

  • Getting HTTP 403/500 errors when accessing SharePoint 2010 pages

    Hi,
I'm getting intermittent HTTP 403/500 errors when accessing SharePoint Foundation 2010 pages.
When it happens, any SharePoint pages I access I get a HTTP 403 error (example: /sites/test/default.aspx) . If I don't specify a page, I get a HTTP 500 error (example: /sites/test/). What's odd is that I have non-SharePoint .NET applications running on the
same server under the "_layouts" directory and those still work just fine.
After recycling the IIS application pool, it starts to work again, but sometime won't stay up very long.
Does anyone encounter this problem before?
    TIA
Also, I'm hoping to understand what the "Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequest.GetFileAndMetaInfo" method does to help me track down this issue. If you have any info on what the above method is doing, I really appreciated.

  • Customizing 400 and 500 error pages

    Hello,
We are using default 404 and 500 error pages, how can I customize these error pages?

Normally those are page not found errors.
I got the steps from metalink. See below.
Subject: Changing the default error pages
    Hi,
Steps mentioned below are used to have customize error message page for http 404 error, you can find out error no. for 'internal server error' and apply same steps.
1.Create an HTML file (Say test.html) as per your requirement and place it in
    application_home\Apache\Apache\htdocs folder.
2.Edit the HTTPD.conf file and Uncomment the Local redirects as follows
    # 2) local redirects
    ErrorDocument 404 /test.html
    Save it.
    3. Restart the HTTP server.

  • How can I set up a custom 404 error page on OSX Server?

I moved my web site to a local server and changed the structure drastically.  Unfortunately I am getting hits for information that was on the old server which I haven't put back yet.  I'd like to set up a custom 404 Error Page to let people know what's up.  In server.app I can set up a 500 error page but not a 404 and when I tried hand coding it into the sites .conf file I really messed things up.  It took me a while to get that all corrected!
    Thanks for any advice,
    Bill W

    Found it!
Under the web server Advanced Setting set "Allow overrides using .htaccess" then create an .htaccess file in the root directory with the line:
    ErrorDocument 404 notfounderror.html
Use whatever HTML/PHP/etc. document you have created.

    Hi Dave,
When I originally set up the server there was just one site on it for which I ran the Web Server Configuration tool. I run it each time I add a site even though ALL is listed when I launch it.
I finally opened a ticket with Adobe and they ran the Web Server Configuration tool which did not solve the issue either. They are not sure what the problem is, either.

Well, yes, you'll probably need to run the Web Server Configuration Tool. When that was initially run, did you connect the three web sites individually to CF? Or did you connect "all" web sites to CF all at once? If you did the former, it should be pretty easy to delete and recreate the connection for just that one site to CF. If you did the latter, the functioning site will not work while you're reconnecting everything, and the possibility exists that you may break that one too, so I'd make sure you scheduled an outage around this work.

how can i set a global error page for all error code?
i don't want to leave a long list in the web.xml file.could any one help me?
    thanks

If u have a common Error JSP named as ErrorPage.jsp
You need to have the following piece of code in the JSP as :
    <%@ page isErrorPage ="true"%>
This makes it as the Common Error Page for the Application. Now all you need to do is from other JSP's throw the Exception to teh container. The container will redirect to this Page and process accordingly.
    Thanks and regards,

  • HTTP Error 403 - Customized Error Page Display Issue

    Hi,
I have included 403 in <error-code> in my web.xml and defined proper security constraints. But when I try to access my JSPs directly on Mozilla I see my error page but I try in Internet, I can't see the same page.
    Can someone help me?

Then don't send the HTTP error status code in the headers. It would trigger IE to display friendly error pages.
Best solution would be to let the error page invoke a redirect to self (or another error page) when the HTTP status code is 403, so that it becomes 200 (or anything in range of 200-399) so that IE won't be triggered to display friendly error pages. Best solution would be to let the error page invoke a redirect to self (or another error page) when the HTTP status code is 403You want to say that I should define a error page in my JSP where, when its called, I need to handle the 403 error. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I have defined *403 error code in my web.xml*.
Again if possible can you please put down a sample how to do it?

  • SAP BPC 5.1 SP2 Http 500 internal server error - page can not be displayed

When our Sysadmin service account are restricted to the app server and the database server ( as they should be in a secured environment) no client
could reach the web site to even use the Osoft directory . We get a Http 500 internal server error - page can not be displayed . This is for a new multiserver install. Is there a problem on the website security or .net configuration?

Yes the install was done by the SAP install consultant but now we are getting an error when we restrict the Sysadmin ID. Server diagnostics and other tests on Appshell passed as well.
