Setting Outlook Categories resends Mail

Hello everyone,
We've got a problem at a customers. They use exchange 2013 and the user that has troubles uses Outlook 2010.
The problem, happens if she tries to categories an incoming email, it disappears and reappears with the current time-stamp.
So it looks like the email was send at a different point of time, than it originally was received.
But this happens only on a shared mailbox, not her own and only with a couple of email addresses. It works just fine for about 90% of all incoming email.
We tried it using a different account, and it seems to be the same problem there. So the problem is not caused by her outlook settings.
Has anyone ever had a problem like that before?

Hello,
Firstly, I suggest we try to check whether the issue happens on another computer.
You can firstly try running Outlook in its safe mode, disable any 3<sup>rd</sup>-party firewall and mail scan software.

Can you set up categories in Mail?

I've been using Entourage, but thought I would switch over to Mail, because it seems nicer in some ways. One thing I can't figure out is how to set up categories, which is very easy in Entourage. Maybe it just doesn't exist in Mail.
I want to be able to mark certain messages so that they can be grouped. That's easy enough if the messages are all from one sender, but a category might be based solely on my subjective decision about it being in that category. In Entourage, I can choose to mark individual messages as a group which is then colour coded and can be searched based on that category.
The category might be based on messages which I think are important to do with a particular project. In that way, no smart mailbox would be able to distinguish it, but I can.
So does Mail do this in any way?

Entourage's categories do not exist in Mail which is a shame as I liked this feature to. I have just switched from Entourage to Mail as Entourage is rumoured to be not included in the new basic Mac Office product when it ships. As I only use word, excel and powerpoint I only need the basic package and will save quite a bit of money to.
You can get the colour coding by using Mail rules to set the colour of the e-mail depending on the sender or other criteria.

I have a similar problem: I switched from mac mail to Outlook 2011 as the default client, and want to switch back. Mailto links (eg from browser etc) default to Mail. However, when I try to email a Word document as an attachment, it continues to open Outlook. Outlook has a button in its prefs for making it the default client, but I don't see a way to turn this pref off in either Outlook or in Word.

When I try to us Preview to email PDFs the Apple Mail client is the default mail client that opens. I use Lion and would like to set Outlook as my default. Does anyone know how to do this? It has been suggested that you click command-P, select PDF and add Outlook there but there are no options to do this. I am stuck and would like some help. I am using outlook:mac2011 version 14.1.4 and Preview 5.5.1

I did not find a way to change the target application for the "New Email with Attchment" service for files and folders. All the limits you mention 100 e-mails at a time and 500 in a four hour time frame are limitations imposed by your mail provider, not Thunderbird. Thunderbird places no restrictions on the maximum number of recipients.
Have you tried turning your computer off for a few minutes?

OK I have the same problem.. so I went to sys pref>int.acc.s
but it tells me to set it up manually.. SMTP server, etc. You know I'm not that tech savvy, so I don't know what I'm doing. I do have my own domain and email that I'm trying to sync with outlook

Outlook 2007 - Outgoing mail server from a 3rd party

I tried to set up the outgoing mail server for my Outlook 2007 with a 3rd party mail server. e.g. mail.xxxx.com, and I could not send the e-mail at all. If I set up the outgoing mail server as outgoing.verizon.net, I can send the email to everyone else but not to this 3rd party mail server mail.xxxx.com. I received the undeliverable message from Verizon that the mail was rejected due to not being able to log on to this 3r party mail server. I am working for this company from home and it requires me to set up this for my outgoing mail server. Does anyone know how to fix this, including specifying what needs to be done at the 3rd party mail server to change to accept emails sent from outgoing.verizon.net? Thank you in advance. Andy

Port 25 is the standard for SMTP, although some now use a submission port, 587. I know port 25 off network is blocked for residential users, I don't know if 587 is blocked off network because I have never tried it. I suspect it is. Verizon is by no means the only ISP to do this.
Business accounts do not have blocked ports as far as I know, so if you have a business account, you are free to communicate using port 25 anywhere.
Verizon has recently gone to non-standard port assignments for SMTP and POP servers. see

How to set Outlook as default email in Safari?

I have Outlook which I use as my only email (do NOT want to use Apple mail for various reasons) and when I click on a link to send an email while in Safari it wants to use Apple mail. I don't see any options letting me change this in Safari. How can I set Outlook as my default email in Safari?

That does not change the default search engine.
I had already deleted google from the search bar.
Found the fix. Need to do the about:config - keyword.URL - change http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=

Setting parameters for Verizon mail to delete messages

I can no longer find how to adjust when my Verizon mail messages will be deleted from the inbox. I use Outlook as my mail and it used to be that messages would be deleted from the Verizon in box when they were deleted from my Outlook deleted items. Suggestions?

That is actually a setting within Outlook, not Verizon webmail. Which version of Outllook are you using?

Send Sharepoint list items in Office365 Outlook to external mailing list

Hello everyone
I'd like to be able to send a 'weekly update' mail to a mailing list with external email addresses from within Office365 Outlook. The mail should consist of list items (conditional, not exceeding a certain date in history) coming from a Sharepoint (in Office365)
teamsite. So these should be 'exported' from Sharepoint to a new Office365 Outlook message (and f.e. be temporarely saved as a draft). It'd also be nice if we could add extra text and/or images to the new message before it's being sent.
A second question: is it possible to send a mail to all Office365 users who have access to a certain subsite whenever something on that subsite is created? F.e. a new document is uploaded, a new Discussion is launched, ... Some sort of automatic notification
system once something on the subsite is created. It is imperative that users don't have to set these automatic notifications (or alerts) manually but they're being done for everyone, even if it's a new account.

Hi Robin,
Workflow is associated with single item, and changes made to a item will trigger your workflow, hence selecting multiple list and activating the workflow would be a challenge.
Pre SharePoint 2013 we had big challenge in looping through the entire list items which was one of the most sought after feature in workflow. However, SP 2013 offers a way to loop through the items now.
I think you can leverage this to get your workflow done.

Hi Linc, I started setting up my new computer a few months ago so don't remember the details. I did not use migration assistant, nor do I wish to, I believe it was set up through icloud. Now that I needed my calendar while doing taxes I discover there are no events for 2014 and earlier (except 2 oddly enough). I do remember that iCloud instructions were not clear as to what would happen in the choices it gave.
I copied my old user files over from my external back up after my old computer stopped working, was hoping I could put ical folders in the right place to be used by Calendar or import somehow.

Using yahoo mail with outlook and mac mail

I previously used entourage on my OS 10.6.8 mac but I have upgraded to os 10 and office 2011 with outlook. When I set up outlook will yahoo mail messages only be accessible on the original device that opens them? I have an iMac desktop with outlook, a Macair using mac mail and a Samsung tablet using yahoo mail. I have noticed that when using mac mail only on the iMac and Macbookair, to get yahoo mail and yahoo mail on the tablet. I can only see my yahoo mail messages on the first device that opens the yahoo mail account. I have Yahoo mail plus. The default MS Exchange ActiveSync port is 443 but due to security reason it had been changed.
Under this situation how to set up the iPad Mail account?
I could not find out the port modification area in iPad account settings.
Or any other apps are suitable for multiple accounts within 1 domain?
That means i can use this app for more than 1 email accounts within 1 exchange server.
I had tried eMailGanizer. It could allow you to modify the port number but if you need to send email you still need to set up the account in Apple mail first.
I tried Outlook Mail but could not allow multiple accounts within 1 domain.
I tried Mail Access 2010 but it could not display the emails in the server.

using Outlook.com I just deleted an email
    by clicking the Trash icon that appears
      when hovering near an email subject
        in the list of emails.
Then I clicked the Send/Receive button
in Apple Mail.
The email disappeared from the Inbox listing
in Apple Mail.
The email is listed in the Deleted Folder
within Apple Mail.
The email also appears in Outlook.com
within the Deleted Folder
I'm not seeing an equivalent operation in Outlook.com
to perform the Erase Deleted items
    such as Apple Mail provides..
There was momentarily a "Sweep to Delete"
animation that appeared and is now gone..
Pomme is correct.. by selecting "Erase Deleted Items"
within Apple Mail does not clear the Deleted Folder
    when the email was first deleted using Outlook.com
Now I'm seeing further synch problems in that deleting in Outlook.com
The emails disappear from Apple Mail Inbox,
    but do not appear within the Apple Mail Deleted Folder..
      (as it did with the first message I deleted using Outlook.com)
Yes.. there is some synchronizing problems..
I just exited Apple Mail, and restarted it, synched
and now all messages deleted from Outlook.com
    appear within Apple Mail Deleted Folder..
For Outlook.com the equivalent operation to Erase Deleted Items
Is to click the Trash icon next to the emails
    within the Deleted Folder..
Moral of the story is for Apple Mail
periodically select Erase Deleted Items
and for Outlook.com
    periodically look in the Deleted Folder
      and delete those emails (that you already deleted)
        a second time..

Calendar sending invites from Outlook instead of Mail

Running Macbook Pro 13" 2.6, 8 MB RAM, Mavericks OS.
I used to use Outlook for mail with the account setup through an Outlook Exchange server. I don't use this account anymore and now use mail. When I create a Calendar event and want to add invitees, it keeps trying to send the invite via Outlook instead of mail. I have removed all accounts from my Outlook account. I have tried to add my new email (Pop) to Calendar but it doesn't want to accept this option. How do I set it to send the invites from my new work email (Mac mail) instead of defaulting to Outlook?

No problem. If you sync your computer with your iCloud account, you can sync iCloud email, contacts, calendars and tasks with Outlook 2007 or higher; as well as your bookmarks with internet explorer and your photo stream photos. This will keep this data on your phone in sync with your computer. This guide shows how to set this up: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/pc.html.
To enable photo stream, go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and turn it on. After that, when you take a photo on your phone, the next time it is connected to wifi with the camera app closed and has at least 20% battery life remaining, it will upload the photo to photo stream and the photo will be streamed to your computer if you are syncing it with your iCloud account.
Music is only synced with iCloud if you subscribe to iTunes Match. If you do, the music in your iTunes library (up to 25,000 songs) on your computer will be made available to download to your phone over iCloud without having to sync or store it on your phone.
You can also automatically back up your device to iCloud every 24 hours when it is connected to wifi and your charger. To enable this, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup and turn it on at the bottom.
