Setting Permissions for a BMP

The home interface lookup is successful. However the following error is thrown when I attempt to execute a method on the home interface:
CORBA NO_PERMISSION 0 No; nested exception is:
org.omg.CORBA.NO_PERMISSION: minor code: 0 completed: No
Is there some permission or user setup requirement for authentication/authorization that I need to do during deployment?

I forgot to post my code:
Context context = new InitialContext();
Object objref = context.lookup("MyHome");
TopicHome home = PortableRemoteObject.narrow(objref, MyHome.class);
// this is where the exception is thrown
Collection records = home.findAllRecords();

  • Password security - set permissions for different users

I am using Abobe Acrobat 9 Pro.
In the HELP menu, there is a security section in the contents, In the overview, it states the following:
"Each security method offers a different set of benefits. However, they all allow you to specify encryption algorithms, select the document components to encrypt, and set permissions for different users."
I would like to know how you can set permissions for different users using Password Security.
I am the only one in the company who has Acrobat 9 Pro and all others have Adobe Reader 8.
I have created a PDF file in Acrobat 9, this file is accessible to anyone with Abobe Reader. I would like to set different permissions for different users. For example, i would like certain individuals to print the document and other individuals to not be allowed to print. Can this be acheived using Password Security?
    Many Thanks

  • Webserver - setting permissions for Custom Sites

Quick q on setting permissions for custom sites default. Default home for custom (non-default) web site is:
    /Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites/
and whatever subdirectory you stipulate, e.g. MyServer - or whatever.
    Server sets this as owner:
    drwxrwxr-x   7 root  admin  238 Mar  8 15:34 CustomSitesDefault
    drwxrwxr-x  16 root  admin  544 Mar  8 15:38 Default
For security, shouldn't the permissions and ownership be changed - to some webamin user WITHOUT root privs? Or will this break Lion Server? Thanks.

    Hello,
One option would be to disable the automatic Project Site Sync in the User Sync Settings Page, create custom permission levels and groups on your SharePoint Project site template(s) to meet your requirements - make use of default SharePoint groups where
possible, save the new template(s) and attach the new templates to the EPTs. Then develop a Project Server event handler that adds the users to the Project Site on the Publish event (or what ever event you like). The project owner one is simple - just add
the project owner to the new SharePoint group, project members - just read the project team and add those users and the visitors just add a domain AD group (Domain Users for example) to that group.
Default Project Server sync settings / site permissions can be seen here:

    Hi,
We had the same issue, and in my opinion it is caused by the parallelisation of sapcar during SUM phase PREP_PRE_CHECK/SCANDIR_EPS0
I did see several parallel SAPCAR jobs running during this phase.
So what happens when one job extracts SIGNATURE.SMF at the same time another job tries to finalize its extraction by setting the permissions for /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in/SIGNATURE.SMF?
It can happen that permissions are being set at the same time another sapcar yust deletes this file to begin extracting.
Since we had 146 SAR archives that needed to be extracted, a retry allways ended up in 4 to 12 conflicts.
What did do the trick was adding
    /sapcar/extrcact_parallel = 0
    to the file
    ../SUM/abap/bin/SAPup.par
    Just as Christoph Langer suggested.
We had to restart the whole phase, a repeat was not enough to solve the problem.

  • Why can't Firefox set permissions for Snow Leopard Server Web-Site Wikis

I've established a web-site for collaboration of planning for a state-wide NGO and a local citizens-government oversight commission.
I'm using Snow Leopard Server v10.6.4, to drive the web-site, which includes the use of wikis.
In creating a wiki and setting permissions, I find that I cannot set permissions for users or groups to 'read only' from the default 'read & write' while using Firefox. However, I CAN set them to 'read only' using Safari. And, once the permission has been modified in Safari, THEN it can be modified in Firefox.

    Solution found at http://michaeljin.wordpress.com/2010/01/05/locked-out-of-mac-os-x-server/
It’s blog update time! Updates have been a little scarce lately, been super busy with getting trophies on PS3
Anyway, recently encountered the following with a Mac mini server running Snow Leopard Server:
Despite being able to ARD / Screenshare the Mac mini, I was unable to get any further than the login window. Authentication credentials are obviously valid. No weird access permissions have been set. However, the weird thing was, I can connect to the server via Server Admin tools (from another Mac) and all other services were running without a hitch.
After much head scratching it turns out to be a sACL (Service Access Control List) issue.
    This thread solved the mystery!
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1654864
To save you the trouble, I’ll lay it out here. I cannot take credit for this, but Randall can!
Open Server Admin on a computer (any), and connect with the local admin to the machine.
    Select the server and authenticate.
Select Settings, then go to Access. You’ll want to make sure that Login Window and SSH have the local admin account listed if you select the option to “Allow only these users”. For now, I would suggest making sure all services have “Allow all users and groups” selected.
If (as in my case) it was set to Allow All in the first place, simply toggle the settings – back and forth.
    Save.
Try logging in again… should be a good one!

  • UNIX command to set permissions for a "public" partition?

I have a bunch of Core Duo (1.83) iMacs running 10.4.11. We have the drive partitioned so that students can save/store stuff locally for myriad reasons.
With infrequent regularity, the read/write permissions on the partition get munged up and staff have to reset permissions (using the Get Info window).
I would DEARLY love to use ARD 3.2 to send a UNIX command to set permissions so that EVERYONE has access to EVERYTHING on the partition regardless of who has logged in. We have cleverly named this partition "Scratch" 'cuz, well, you know, that's what scratch drives are for, yes?

What I was hoping for was the ACTUAL chmod command so that I could just cut and paste it.
Sorry not to be sufficiently specific. If you'd said that initially, I could have provided a more direct answer. I didn't know if you were even aware of chmod, and lots of people when they learn about it don't want to go anywhere near a chmod command, so I posted only to the general description first so you knew what you were getting into. Templeton has you covered for the specific command.
For future questions, the more specific you can be about what you're aware of/have tried and what it is you're looking for, the more precise folks here can be in their answers.
    Regards.

  • How to set permissions for files created by Windows on OS 10.8 volume

I am in process of upgrading from an iMac with OS 10.6 to an iMac with OS 10.8.  In my office network, I store all files on my iMac and let the Windows PCs act as workstations to read/write onto the Mac.  (It's simpler to have all files centralized in one location, and only have to be concerned about backing up one volume.)
When I had OS 10.4 and OS 10.6 any newly created file saved by the Windows PCs onto the Mac could be opened by the Mac.
But with OS 10.8, I can not open newly created files from Windows.  The file permissions for the newly created files from the Windows PCs are:
         PCUser = read/write;  Everyone = no access.
What do I need to do so that newly created files from the Windows PC (currently Windows 7) can be opened by the Mac, without having to use Get Info to reset the permissions each time?

You could try adding this Access Control Entry (ACE) to the folders you let them save to:
    sudo chmod -R +a "accountinggroup allow delete,chown,list,search,add_file,add_subdirectory,delete_child,file_inherit,directory_inherit" /Path/to/topmost/folder
You first need to create a group for all the sharing people you want to have access to that folder, if you don't already have one. In the example, "accountinggroup" is the group, so change that to whatever you want to use.
The ACE allows them full access to the files in the folders. If you want to limit that, remove the option (such as delete).
You create Groups in Users & Groups System Preference just like creating a new user. Just change the account type to Group.
If you want a GUI to do the settings, try Sandbox.  It's got a few glitches in the Interface, but it seems to write the ACL correctly. One glitch is selecting the Group or User. I had just a list of Continuing in the popup menu. I typed in the Group name I wanted and it worked. Some errors pop up as you traverse the file hierarchy, but you can dismiss them.
Here is an old hint, which gives a little background, and some other options: http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20090219133314985
The Server tools would allow you to set this up more easily, but if this is all you need as the server, I don't know if it is worth it.

  • Unable to set permissions for archiving

Using G5 iMac, OS 10.4.11 with iDVD 6. I have followed the instructions 1 thru 3 in help for setting permissions to archive a dvd project without any problem. However the last instruction is "Click Apply to enclosed items". I can not find anywhere to do this. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Regards from Ireland.

You are right. There is no place to "click apply to enclosed items". Just ignore that instruction, as it seems to be unnecessary. You already set your permissions by doing steps 1-3.

  • How to set permissions for folder?

    Dear all,
How can iset permissions for a particular folder?
I am creating new folders for new users  who access the program.
Is there any way yo set permissions so that no one is able to edit the name of the folder ?
    Thanks,
    Ritesh

    Hi Ritesh,
Thanks for the post and I hope your well today.
You can programmatically change the Read Only and Hidden Status of a file
in labview using the DOS prompt from LabVIEW - called
    System.Execvi.
Here are some links regarding the DOS commands you can use,
    http://www.ss64.com/nt/subinacl.html
    http://www.ss64.com/nt/cacls.html
So I beleive you could find a DOS command which could alter the editting properties of the name..
Another way to prevent the user altering the file would be to change
the user permission's in windows.. but it could affected the code and
most IT departments would not allow this.
    Hope this helps,
    Kind Regards

  • Change/Set permissions for specific application?!

I have at least one application that always enables GPS although it isn't needed --> more power consumption, I don't know why it is doing this. Additionally I have some applications I don't want to have access to the internet (at least if I'm not connected to Wifi).
On the other hand I have a java application that should have access to GPS and mobile data without asking every time for the permission.
Where/How can I achieve this? Why have some applications always to ask when others have permissions for things they don't need for proper function?
    PS: N8 with Belle

    Hi AUTxRemoteC,
According to the best of my knowledge you can only access suite settings and change them according to your preferences for certain applications only. To be able to do so, go to Menu> Settings> Installations> Already Installed the open it. From there, you can only change specific application settings and I know mostly java applications use this method. To check on which applications that you can access and change the settings place your finger to the desired application and hold it and when you see suite settings then you can change it settings. Usually when you hold to an application there is view details and delete but when you see the extra option that is suite settings then open suite settings and change them to your preferences.
I hope that it helps you.

  • Error setting permissions for emwebsite during install

Fisrt I am new to Oracle and this is my first attempt at installing or using an Oracle product. I am installing Oracle 9i standard edition onto a Redhat 7.3 server. At the 88% completion mark the install script fails with the following error (from the log):
    Exception thrown from action: copyExpandedGroup
    Exception Name: SetFilePermissionException
Exception String: Error in setting permissions of file/directory /home/oracle/Or
    aHome1/bin/emwebsite
    Exception Severity: 2
    1. How severe is an Exception Severity 2? Can I safetly ignore it?
    2. When veiwing the /home/oracle/OraHome1/bin/ directory the file emwebsite(.html?) is not present. I assume that this is why the permissions can't be set. Can I just import the file from another location or from the .jar files and continue?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • I only create Read Only folders can't set permissions for any file but mine

My issue is I have 25 users and an X-Serve and it seems like all the users
do not have the same permissions. More specifically if a user creates a
folder on the server only that user can access it. This is the same if the
user creates the folder on there desktop and then copies the files to the
server. But if they copy a "read only" folder or file (this happens more
with files) to there desktop and then they open the file save it and place
it back on the server there is no problem.
I also, have a user that whenever she creates a folder it automatically
set's itself to read only. No matter whether she copies from her desktop to
the server or visa versa. Every folder she creates is protected this way
here settings are all the same as everyone else. So I'm not sure if she is
unique or if the settings for my users are incorrect.
I did not set up the server or the user's so I'm really trying to catch up
quick. We are really suffering in that it totally slow's things down almost
to a crawl in some cases. I really hope you can help me out with this I've
attached some screen shot's and the X-Serve system profiler for background.

  • Set Permissions for file deletion

I need to create a new temp directory and at the end of my program, I need to delete the temp files...pretty common thing to do.  My problem is the permissions dont allow me to delete the files unless I set them first somehow.  I want to know what the settings must be in the Set Permission.VI so I can then delete the files.  How do I mechanize this?

Are you having this issue in both the Development Environment and the Run Time Environment? The second solution that I linked is for executables only, and only makes it so that you don't have to turn off the UAC because it has administrative privilages. Anything that an administrator is able to do, the executable will now have permission to do. To test if this solution will work at all, just right click on the executable and select "Run as Administrator". If you are still having issues when the executable is running as administrator, the above solution will not work.
Try running this snippet and let me know what happens. All it does is create a file in the temp directory, read its permissions, then deletes the file. This runs on my computer with no error in the Development Environment and has the permissions of binary 110110110 (Decimal 438).

  • Setting permissions for scanner use

    Hello,
My USB scanner is a Canon Lide 35 and it had been working perfectly in arch. After  a recent update (don't know exactly which because do not use scanner so often), the device is detected and device is set in /dev/bus/usb/005/00x. The problem is that the permissions are not set correctly, I assume by udev?, and my normal user cannot use the scanner because the device remains as owned by root.root and not 0664, group=scanner, as specified in the sane udev rules (/etc/udev/rules.d/53-sane.rules). The rules file is with the new syntax, i.e., ATTRS instead of SYSFS and so forth. My user belongs to the "scanner" group. I have the feeling it is something related with the udev rules but Im not sure what. Here is the relevant line:
    # Canon CanoScan LiDE 35 | Canon CanoScan LiDE 40 | Canon CanoScan LiDE 50
    ATTRS{idVendor}=="04a9", ATTRS{idProduct}=="2213", MODE="0664", GROUP="scanner", ENV{libsane_matched}="yes"
The latest update where kernel stuff and udev stuff were updated resulted in:
    kernel-headers-2.6.24.3-1  udev-119-1...
    Any help greatly appreciated,
    Regards,
    Felipe.

It appears that udev has problems with rules matching by idVendor when system is up and running but everything is ok if device was online during boot. Please check out this bug http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/9935 and comments. If You have the same problem then please vote for this bug and/or post a comment.
    Thank You.

  • How to set Permissions for Mac HD from "No Access" to "Read only"

Hi everyone! My friend's having a problem with her MacBook Pro. She accidentally changed the value of the Macintosh HD's privilege for everyone from Read only to No access. (See attached image for reference/guide). Seconds after, her Mac crashed. She rebooted her laptop, the Apple logo shows up with the usual scrolling week. Afterwards, the scrolling wheel disappears but the Apple logo is still there and it no longer proceeds to her login/desktop screen anymore.
We already tried Repairing Disk Permissions (by pressing Command +R on bootup) and Repair Disks, rebooted, but it's still up to nothing. Unfortunately, she doesn't have a Time Machine backup.
Is there a way to revert the changes even though the login/desktop screen can't be accessed? Is having the value "No access" on your Macintosh HD unsafe and will make you locked out of your system?
I am looking forward to your fast and favorable feedback. :-)
    Thanks in advance!

Is there a way to revert the changes even though the login/desktop screen can't be accessed? Is having the value "No access" on your Macintosh HD unsafe and will make you locked out of your system?
There is currently no way to access the disk, no access means no access.
Others may know better but I would backup the data on the drive, erase and reinstall.
