Setting photos as wallpaper

Each time I choose a photo from my gallery to make a wallpaper it gets enlarged and distorted. Is there a way to set a photo as wallpaper without zooming in?

I provided some information below that may help.
1 . Ensure that when you are setting the picture as your wallpaper, that you are stretching the orange box around the picture all the way out. If not, the wallpaper will center on a smaller portion of the picture making it oversized and pixilated.
2) Ensure the image is at least 480 x 854 (the size of the Droid 2’s screen) and make sure that you have a good resolution. The more pixels per inch you have the sharper the image will be. If you have an image that is too small, it will appear pixilated and distorted once it is applied as a wallpaper.
**If you are using your camera, it is recommend to set the image sizes to Large(5mp), or for best results Widescreen(6mp). To change the camera settings, you can follow the instructions below:
-Select the Applications arrow
-Select Camera
-Select Menu
-Select Settings
-Select Picture Resolution
-Select the desired resolution

  • Why can't I scale my photos for wallpaper?

    When I select a photo for wallpaper I can't scale it.

    I'd imagine you're trying to zoom out on a photo. I think there's a problem with scaling if the dimensions of the photo are not fit to wallpaper size.
    The workaround is in the photo app itself, select the photo you wish to use. Resize it to what you want the wallpaper to look like. Take a screenshot (press the home button and sleep button at the same time).
    Set the screenshot as wallpaper. That should fit nicely.

  • Problems sizing photos for wallpaper

    Since the IOS software updates I have been unable to resize photos for wallpaper & lock screen, they just don't remain the size or position I set.

    You can try this:

  • Nokia N95 Photos To Wallpaper?

    The phone camera takes some very amazing photos. The problem is that when I go to the photo and select options, then Use Image, then Set as wallpaper. When I go to the main screen the image that has been set as the wallpaper squishes up so that the image is a little smaller in width. My daughter now looks very short and chubby, which is not like the original photo which I took on the phone. Is there a setting that I can alter maybe to change the photo size. Any help much appreciated, Thanks.

  • How do I set the desktop wallpaper with an image in aperture 3?

    Sorry for the silly question, but I can't find how to set my desktop wallpaper with an image in aperture 3. It was simple when using Iphoto, but I can't find the method in aperture.
    Thanks,
    Dale.

    Command(⌘)-9 is no longer listed in the list of default keyword shortcuts, and it has no effect.
    I wrote a little Automator service to bring the Command(⌘)-9 back.
    A copy of this service is here for download:
    http://dreschler-fischer.de/scripts/SetDesktopPicture.workflow.zip
    This service uses three actions:
    Aperture: Get selected images
    Export Masters
    Finder: Set the Desktop Picture
    To install it, open the workflow in Automator and save it as service.
    To use it, select any image in Aperture, then activate the service from the Aperture menu -> Services, and it will set the master of the selected image as Desktop picture.
    If you like, you can assign the Command(⌘)-9 key to the service (in the System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Keyboard Shortcuts Panel) and then  turn any image you selected into Desktop wallpaper by simply pressing (⌘)-9.
    @Frank Caggiano, if you are still following this thread: for some reason this workflow succeeds with exporting the master, but I could not get it to work with the versions instead. Any ideas?
    Caution: this service will clutter the Desktop with the exported images. If you want to avoid that, change the export action to export the image to a different folder.

  • STATIC "HTML Data Set Photo Gallery" with CAPTIONS

    Because of search engines and validation I would really like to use the STATIC "HTML Data Set Photo Gallery" http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/demos/gallery_pe/static/china.html.
    But I definitely need captions for the Photos. I found possibilities to add them via XML, but not for the HTML-Version.
    As far as I got I think I have to edit this function from "gallery_hds.js" and add some RegEx, to extract caption text.
    function PhotosFilter(ds, row, rowIndex)
        var tnStr = row.thumbimg;
        if (tnStr)
            row.path = tnStr.replace(/.*<a[^>]*href="?([^"]*)"?.*/i, "$1");
            row.thumbpath = tnStr.replace(/.*<img[^>]*src="?([^"]*)"?.*/i, "$1");
        return row;
    In the following rows within the html-document
    <span class="thumbnail"><a href="../../gallery/galleries/paris/images/paris_02.jpg"><img src="../../gallery/galleries/paris/thumbnails/paris_02.jpg" alt="paris_02.jpg" /></a></span>
    I would insert text before the closing span-tag (or before the closing a-tag?) - like so
    <span class="thumbnail"><a href="../../gallery/galleries/paris/images/paris_02.jpg"><img src="../../gallery/galleries/paris/thumbnails/paris_02.jpg" alt="paris_02.jpg" /></a>Here is some HTML Text</span>
    This text must be extracted via RegEx - similar to the rows within the if-Statement of the upper mentioned function "PhotosFilter". But here my RegEx-knowledge is definitely to short!
    Thank you very much in advance for any help or suggestion.

  • Imported photo in wallpaper unable to be resized

    As mentioned earlier....imported photo to wallpaper cannot be resized even though it suggests it can

    To me the opening post sounds rather like Susie does external editing in "Nik software" triggered from within LR, like you would do e.g. with Photoshop. She might hit "save" in this external editing program and expect to have a 2nd file inside LR.
    Sometimes I do not find such a picture upon return, because LR might have sorted it to the bottom due to changed file date (my usual sorting order is by capture date).
    Or the external software does a "save as" and assign a new file name, in which case LR cannot auto-import it into its catalog.
    The software "Portrait Professional" does the same on my computer by default, so I have always to take care that I actually save over LR's exported version.

  • Photoshop elements 10 set as desktop wallpaper function is flawed

    when I right mouse click a picture in organizer to "set as desktop wallpaper" it sets the picture on the desktop as 4x3 only nopt 16x9 or widescreen.
    If I select the same pic anywhere else it can be set as a widescreen desktop wallpaper, but NOT in Photoshop elewments 10

    Hi,
    This is weird.
    I'm using PSE 10 on a Win 7 system and when I select Set as Desktop Wallpaper I get the following results on a 16:9 monitor:
    1) Image cropped to 16:9 aspect ratio - full screen, no black border
    2) Image cropped to 4:3 aspect ratio - no black borders top or bottom, only left and right
    3) Image cropped to 3:4 aspect ratio - no black borders top or bottom, only left and right
    The fact that 2 & 3 are the same is not what I expected.
    I am one of the old school that grew up with CRT monitors so I have a selection of images that change regularly so as not to burn into the tube - doesn't matter these days of LCD monitors but it's nice to have the picture change now and then.

  • Is Apple working on a fix for editing photos for wallpaper, call contacts with photo, etc? The iPhone used to be so intuitive for everything but that tanked with the ios7 upgrade

    iPhone 5 was so intuitive before the update. Editing photos has changed for the worst-any word of a fix for editing photos for wallpaper? Not a work around, a fix. If I wanted this kind of photo editing I'd still be using my droid x.

    When trying to use a photo for wallpaper, cannot scale the image to size I want to use.  Feature worked fine in iOS6

    James, thank you. I'm experiencing the same issue and submitted feelback at that link. I'm trying to use the same pumpkin image I used last year for Halloween on my lock screen and attempting to follow instructions (Move and Scale) and would like to make the image smaller so that it appears BELOW the time and date, but although I'm able to move the image, I'm unable to scale it - make it smaller. I've since tried this with several other photos with the same outcome. It seems that in iOS 7 one can make images bigger, but not smaller. I'm not sure what the logic behind that could be.

  • A script for setting a random wallpaper

    I've cooked up this small bash script for changing the wallpaper to a random one from a specified directory (it is recursive)
    The script tries to be smart in determining whether the wallpaper should be scaled, centered or tiled.
    Just configure it and try it out.

    I did something similar a couple of months ago, but instead of attempting to be clever and guessing what the background image is supposed to be, I just write it in the filename. Since some pictures just end up being too bright (or whatever) when used as a background to a urxvt terminal, I added some extra parameters for setting gamma, brightness, tint and the direction the image should be rendered. It relies on hsetroot for actually rendering the picture.
    #!/usr/bin/python
    # set-background
    import sys, os, string, re
    patterns = [ (re.compile("t-([a-f\d]+)"), lambda x: "-tint \#" + x)
    , (re.compile("b-([\d]+)"), lambda x: "-brightness -0." + x)
    , (re.compile("g-([\d]+)"), lambda x: "-gamma "+ x)
    , (re.compile("f-(v|h|d)"), lambda x: "-flip" + x)
    def buildCommand(file):
    output = ["hsetroot"]
    output.append("-" + (string.split(file,".")[-2]))
    output.append(file)
    for token in string.split(file,".")[1:-2]:
    for (pat,f) in patterns:
    if pat.match(token):
    output.append( f(pat.findall(token)[0]))
    return string.join(output)
    print buildCommand(img)
    os.system(buildCommand(img))
    # vim:set et:
    So for instance, an image with the name background.t-704214.f-v.full.jpg would be rendered as a stretched image, flipped vertically with a sepia tint. The files are required to be in the following format NAME.(MODIFIER.)*TYPE.SUFFIX, where the the order and number of modifiers are unimportant. The gamma values are somewhat unintuitive, but I guess you'll just have to play around with it to get it right.
    And to randomize the whole thing, I just used the following script in my .xinitrc to randomly pick a image from a folder.
    #!/bin/bash
    bg_folder="$HOME/.backgrounds";
    pics=($(ls $bg_folder))
    let "n = $RANDOM % ${#pics[@]}"
    (cd $bg_folder; set-background ${pics[$n]})
