Setting priority order of phone number type?

Hi!
Is there any way that I can set a specific order of the way I want phone numbers to appear in my contacts (both on my iPhone and my Mac)? I want mobile numbers to always be the first number that shows up, then home, then work, etc. Is this possible? Thanks!

Apparently, Preferences>Templates does control how the numers are oredered, however, different contacts would have different orders: Friends would be home, mobile, work, clients would be work, mobile home, etc.
I wouldn't care except I synce my Razr using iSync and that's how it puts them in the phone. I don't want to be scrolling through numbers while I'm driving!

I just purchased an ipad mini and an ipad air setting up facetime neither phone number is showing up to select for the reach me at number

I have recently purchase the ipad mini and the ipad air while trying to set up face time neither one onf them have the phone number associated witht the data packages that they came with on the network.

Device phone number does not display on Blackberry

Even though the option is set to yes, display phone number, it shows on the device as unknown. The devices are on a BES. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

If you go under Options | Advanced Options | SIM Card, does it show the phone number there?
Also in this screen if you hit the menu button go into Edit SIM Phone Number and type in the device's phone number. If the number still isn't showing up try resetting the device by removing the battery for 1 minute and replacing it.

My iPad is getting iMessages from a past user and won't let me add my phone number. Help!

I recently was gifted an iPad 3 from my boyfriend to use as I please, since he got a new one. I also recently got an iPhone 5. He had the ipad set up to his phone number, and when I logged his apple ID out of setting>apples&itunes and put mine in, and also went to settings>messages>and added my apple account info, it only gives me a check mark for my email, and not one for my phone number.
When it was logged into his account, he had a checkmar I next to his email and his phone number, so he would receive all his iMessages through his ipad. I don't see anywhere to add a phone number. Anyone have any ideas why this isn't working?

How can you add an extension to a phone number

How is it possible to add an extension to a phone number in contacts, so that when you call the number its extension direct dials?

To begin, determine which contact you want to add the phone extension to
Then, in either your phone app or Contacts app, tap that contact
Tap the "Edit" button at the top right of the contact
Tap the phone number you want to add the extension to
Tap the "+*#" button at the bottom left of the screen
When the new options come up on the screen, you'll see a "pause" button at the bottom center. Tap that
That will add a comma to the phone number. After the comma has been added to the phone number, type in the person's phone extension

Can we see Mobile phone number instead of home fax as the first option while adding a new number in iPhone 5s?

While adding a new phone number in Iphone 5S, when you hit 'add phone', it displays the phone number types in this sequence - home fax, radio, home and then mobile. Is there a way to configure this sequence to see mobile as the very first option? i save only mobile numbers and dont see much use in home fax and other options. I know we can delete other phone number types, but i want to save few cliks for convinience

When you add a new phone number, I think you are talking about the Contacts app.
Click "home fax" in that display that comes up. You should be able to change it to something else; e.g., home.
Then home would come up first.

Missing General Phone Number(field TYPE)while PC S...

When I sync my phone with Lotus Notes 7 via PC Suite, the General Phone field type didnt get sync accross to my Lotus Notes 7 Address book. Can someone let me know how I can resolve this problem? At the moment whenever i enter phone number through my mobile phone, i have to change the type to office/mobile in order to successfully sync with Lotus Notes 7. I noticed Lotus Notes 7 Address book doesnt have the General Phone field type hence data will be missing during sync.

Just to confirm I am having the same problem (sorry not much help!). The 'Telephone' field in the E51 maps to 'Other Telephone' in Outlook 2007 and then 'disappears' when synched with my Revo. I have had to cut and paste the 'Telephone' field to the 'Telephone (home)' field on all my phone contacts and that has kept it under control.
If when adding a new contact in the E51, the default field was 'Telephone (home)' then I would be happy. It does not seem possible to change the entry default? At the moment it means having to remember to add this field every time I need to add a new contact's home phone number. The 'mobile' field works fine.

Please advise if its is possible to set a default phone number for a contact with multiple contact numbers

I'm going to clarify this situation by explaining the problem experienced and outlining a possible missing feature which may be missing for the right reasons.
1. When you click on a contact from the CONTACTS tab, you are presented with the 'Info' page for that person so that you can Call, Text, Share or Add them to favorites.
2. When you click on the 'left' part of a contact from the RECENTS page, it will call them back on the number that they rang you from for that perticular call.
However, if you want to call them back on another number, you click on the 'right' part of their contact from the RECENTS page where you are taken to their 'Info' page.
3. FAVORITES, i found this very confusing at first. You need to understand that this is just a link to 1 number type of that contact (e.g. iPhone, work, etc) and not to the entire contact. If you link it to 'iPhone' and change their 'iPhone' number, it will change. But if you add a new number for them, e.g. 'home' and then delete 'iPhone' it will not update. You need to change your favorites if it no longer represents their main number.
You could consider a main defaul number, so that when it comes to returning calls, it regards the number they rang from and will call your chosen main number for them but this will only complicate things for most people, and this is just as easily resolved by just clicking on the 'right' part of the recents tab where you can select a number to call them from.

Hi,
First Check the Data Type of the Field. That must be "DTYPE_PHONE". If this is the Data Type, then, it will allow the phone format set at the Locale Level for the Application. Check the Format at Locale Level.

It's simple, you can change the Data Type of the particular Field to "DTYPE_TEXT".

HT204085 How do I correct the phone number I used when I set up icloudkeychain?

I just set up iCloud Keychain. However when I press accept I realized at the last moment the last number of the phone number is incorrect. How do I fix this?

Just go to "Settings > iCloud > Account > Keychain" here you can change your associated phone number. Please note that you should be able to receive SMS at the moment of changing your number in order to be able to verify your new number.

Phone Number Order

Address book is sorting phone numbers by some method I can't determine. I have one contact who has his "mobile" number first, then "other", then "home". I want Home, then Mobile, then Other. Deleting the phone numbers and adding them again, gets me to the same order--that I do not want.
How can I set the order in which the numbers appear?

They appear as Mobile, then Other, then Home. The order is important because I don't want to have to look through a list of numbers to find the one I use most often. Or in some cases, I have one or two numbers I need, but have 8-12 "other" numbers which are the roaming numbers used by the client to call me. Having them in my phone book allows my caller ID software to identify them correctly. I don't need those appearing at or near the top of the list when I'm looking for one of their numbers. Maybe it's not a big deal, but it's a constant irritation, and what appears to be a failing with the application.

6303 Contact phone number order

Is there ay way of altering the order of phone numbers for contacts automatically? If there is a land line number for the contact it appears above the mobile number, so it is dialed automatically. I want to have the mobile number first so that is the automatically dialed number.

I need it to happen for all my contacts so I don't want to manually set it for each one. I also synchronise my contacts regularly with my Outlook files, and don't want any system which relies on manual changes each time, I want to make a change to the order in the phone once in the menu, but I can't find out how.

The caller ID on this and all other Verizon phones (Android and other types) occasionally displays a "1" before the phone number. This causes the tenth digit to not appear in the caller ID. How can the "1" be prevented from appearing?

Verizon's caller ID delivery system occasionally inserts a 1 before the phone number of the incoming call. The caller ID feature appears to be poorly planned and executed by Verizon. The caller ID feature should display more numerals so the call can be returned. Can the iPhone 6 and all other phone-types on Verizon be configured to omit the 1? This looks like it could be issued as firmware update.

Update - I called the number I was given for "ordering", and got the same phone tree I had the first time I called the number on Verizon's web site. At no point was there an option of "ordering". So I navigated back to FIOS tech support. The guy there said he called "ordering" and confirmed that the right name was in the Verizon directory. I asked him to push the directory entry, and he said he did that. I haven't had a chance to call people and see what shows up on their Caller ID.
I told the support person about the bill collectors calling for {edited for privacy}. He was full of nonsense. He said maybe {edited for privacy}gave out the wrong number. I pointed out it would be pretty hard for {edited for privacy} to put their name in Verizon's Caller ID directory, and maybe {edited for privacy} had my phone number before me. He looked that up and confirmed that my number previously belonged to {edited for privacy}.
I asked the support person if they provide their Caller ID directory to bill collectors, and if I was getting these calls because they have been selling a database that says {edited for privacy} still has my number, which has been my number for nearly two years. The customer support representative WOULD NOT ANSWER THIS QUESTION. All he would say was there is no way for Verizon to control who calls my number. That's not what I asked him.
I am very unhappy with Verizon, and I suspect until I called yesterday, they had my number associated with {edited for privacy} and they have been providing this erroneous information to bill collectors. I understand that each phone provider maintains their own Caller ID database, but I don't think it is credible that some other phone company's caller ID database would be two years out of date without some screw up by Verizon.
