Setting privacy settings in IE 11 via GPO

Hi,
I am trying to find the option in GPO to set privacy settings and sites for IE 11. Does anyone know how this can be done?
Through Internet settings, the privacy settings are greyed out, through the admx templates, I can't find an option.
Thanks
Lozloz2

Hi,
>>Through Internet settings, the privacy settings are greyed out, through the admx templates, I can't find an option.
Prior to IE10, we can utilize Internet Explorer Maintanence(IEM) to configure IE Privacy settings. However, beginning from IE10, IEM has been deprecated in favor of Group Policy Preferences, Administrative Templates (.admx), and the Internet
Explorer Administration Kit 10 (IEAK 10).  We can use IEAK11 to manage Privacy settings for IE11.
Regarding IEAK, the following articles can be referred to for more information.

  • Skype won't let me set privacy settings.

Your system will not allow me to set the 'privacy' settings. I'm selecting 'only accept calls from contacts',  no cookies, no this, no that.......and clicking 'save'. But all that happens is your blasted system keeps giving me a message saying "your call forwarding can't be set up at this time, please try again'   ........and then it resets to the 'default' settings, ie allowing calls from 'anyone' and allowing cookies etc. I don't want to set the damned call-forwarding and was not trying to. Everything I was setting up had nothing to do with call forwarding!   It's utterly frustrating, time-wasting and a rip-off.  Obviously it's set up this way so we have no choice but to accept cookies so Skype can monitor our 'preferences' and sell us other stuff.  This really feels dishonest to me, and Skype has plummeted in my estimation.

    Hi, Ann-11,
I understand your frustrations, however Skype is not the rip-off or cookie-crumbling monster you think it is!  Please do post back with what computer/operating system or device you are trying to set up Skype on; diagnosing and resolving the issues are platform-dependent as Skype runs on and works very differently depending upon the system and device.

  • Setting port exceptions for Windows Firewall via GPO. Is there a limit on the number of exceptions that can be set?

We would like to utilize GPOs to manage our Windows Firewall rule set. We have servers that have different requirements (HL7 connections, other programs) and our doctrine is to only open ports that are going to be used.
We need to be able to audit and enforce these standards, so GPOs seem to make the most sense to me.
The problem I am running into is when I attempt to define multiple Windows Firewall Inbound Port Exceptions. (More than 10) After "Applying and Okaying" I will go to verify the firewall rule-set but I find that quite a few of them are missing. It
seems like I am limited to 8-9 port exceptions per GPO.
I am unable to locate any documentation about this, but we can work around this by creating multiple GPOs.
Has anyone run into this issue before?

No, unfortunately. Our main server FW exception GPO contains 44 rules

  • Set security preferences via GPO

    Hi
Is there a way to set either security policy in Acrobat via GPO, so all a user would have to do is select:
Tools > Protection > Encrypt > select premade security policy (password protected)
Or a way to set the Adobe PDF printer preferences with Adobe PDF Security as 'Use the last known security preferences' with predefined settings via GPO.
We need to set up security on 100 or so acrobats and I am struggling to find a way to do this.
    Thanks

Well if you can point me to this registry key i would appreciate it.
Applying the security settings via 'print to pdf' via gpo would be really handy right about now.
I managed to find a security file (security-policy.acrodata) that contains the details of security policies, I managed to copy this to another pc and the policy was displayed in adobe. However it doesn't save the password and a password must be entered manually.
Also I don't think the above would work for Acrobat 8 (we use both versions 8 and 10) and it doesn't make the security policy I create as the only favourited one as default.

  • GPO for changing privacy settings for Internet Zone

Hi I want to change the privacy setting for the Internet Zone from Medium to Low. Can't seem to find the right location in the GP. Can someone please point me in the right direction.

    Hi,
If we want to change the privacy setting for the Internet Zone from Medium to Low via Group Policy, please navigate to
User Configuration - Windows Settings - Internet Explorer Maintenance – Security
in GPMC. On the right-pane, please double-click Security Zones and Content Ratings. On the dialog box, we should choose "Import the current security zones and privacy settings" under
Security Zones ad Privacy and click Modify Settings
    to modify the level.
The article Ravikumar provided is very useful to us for configuring the settings via Group Policy, please also refer to it.
    Regards,
    Andy
Using IE maintenance is the old way which I don´t recommend when implementing IE9 or newer. I wonder, why there is no way to configure this with traditional GPO?

  • Connot get it to accept cookies; privacy settings are re-set each time after I change them. How can I get the privacy setting to stick and accept cookies?

I need to accept cookies to log into a technical site. I clear all cookies and the history and follow the instructions for setting privacy options to "Use custom settings for history" and to accept all cookies. When I go back to try logging into the site, it still tells me cookies aren't accepted. When I go back to Options-Privacy, the setting has been changed back to "Remember history" from "Use custom settings for history". I have done this about 5 times, trying various options, closing Firefox after making the change and starting it again - nothing works. How can I get the privacy settings to stay as I set them and accept cookies?

Blocking all cookies in Safari does not work. Deleted cookies will not stay deleted. There are numerous threads on this going back years, both in these forums and elsewhere. Many claim to have submitted the issue to Apple, but I have never seen anyone post a reply.
I have seen many suggested fixes that involve finding the cookies file, some including Terminal manipulations, and none seems to work universally. I can find noplace where Apple addresses this officially with an actual Apple-approved explanation or how-to.
Bottom line, your browser's security features should do what they claim: delete cookies. When they come back without ever even visiting another page, this is clearly not working in the way a reasonable user would expect.
Bottom line, Safari does not protect users' privacy in the way it pretends to and, after so many years of this issue, it appears that Apple wants it this way.
Having spent way too much time on this, I realize the choice is between Safari which is pretty well optimized; Firefox which is a lot pokier, at least for me; and Chrome, which I assume funnels personal information directly to Google.

  • In privacy settings-photos all are GREYED over and set to 'ON'. How can i change this?

I have just downloaded the app 'Instacollage' and really want to use it but I can not add photos. It gives me the message
'This app does not have access to your photos or video. Enable access  in privacy settings'
So naturally, I went to SETTINGS>PRIVACY>PHOTOS....
And the app is not there, BUT all other options are grey over and set to 'ON' I can not change this!
Please help, this happened a few months ago but to WIFI settings and I had to get a replacement iphone.

Thankfully, I had to close all running applications, and hard reset my iphone (home button and lock button simultaniously) this worked and I can now change my privacy settings!
Unfortunately I couldn't 'Allow changes' the button was unresponsive! Thanks anyway!

  • ActiveX UAC and Proxy Settings via GPO

    Hi there,
    Wondering if anyone can help.
I am experiencing the following issue when trying to load ActiveX control without UAC prompts for standard users.
    I have:
Configured ActiveXInstaller Service and configured allowed sites and settings via GPO.
Configured IE Security settings for the Trusted Zone to Allow ActiveX content to run via GPO.
Configured IE to use per user proxy settings via GPO.
Allowed the domain in our proxy and bypassed authentication for that domain.
Everything seems to be in place but I receive a UAC prompt for the Internet Explorer Add-on Installer UNLESS I either turn off the IE proxy  settings or add the domain to the IE proxy exclusions list.
Unfortunately neither of these are options in our environment..
    Anything I've missed?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Before going further, what's the operating systems you are using? How did you configure
approved Installation Sites for ActiveX Controls and Active X installation policy for sites in Trusted zones settings?
Regarding how to configure these two settings, we can refer to the following article for double check.
Administering the ActiveX Installer Service in Windows 7
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd631688(v=ws.10).aspx
Besides, we can also run command gpresult/h gpreport.html with admin privileges to collect group policy result report to check if the policy settings are applied correctly.

  • Setting WMI and Registry permissions via GPO?

    Hi,
I am configuring SCOM 2012 R2 for my environment. To configure it for SQL Serve,r I neeed to do the following:
Grant Read permission on HKLM:\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server registry path for SQLDefaultAction and SQLMPLowPriv
Grant “Execute Methods”, “Enable Account”, “Remote Enable”, “Read Security” permissions for root, root\cimv2, root\default, root\Microsoft\SqlServer\ComputerManagement11 WMI namespaces to SQLDefaultAction and SQLMPLowPriv
Grant Read permission on HKLM:\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\[InstanceID]\MSSQLServer\Parameters registry path for SQLMPLowPriv for each monitored instance
So I need to assign registry permissions and wmi permissions.
Is there a way to do this via GPO?
    Thanks

    Hi,
You can not change the permission by using group policy directly.
    Steps to solve your requirement,
    1. Using the SetACL tool you can automate the management of Windows permissions.  It is inherently automatable and scriptable. The
COM version provides the full functionality to any COM-enabled programming language (C#, Visual Basic, C++, Delphi, PowerShell, VBScript, …).
Supported object types: files and folders, registry keys, printers, services, network shares, WMI
So using this tool you can create script to automate Windows permissions.
    2. Then you can use the created script as the Startup script in the GPO with privileges to allow the permission changes.
