Setting punch-in points

Hey, I know that you can use the auto-drop mode to punch in and out, but this is kind of a pain when I have to click and drag all the time and pre-define my in and out points when I don't know what the out-point will be.
For example, when I'm doing a long take of a guitar passage and i blow it, I want to start re-recording at the point of the mistake and just keep going out through the rest of the take until I blow it again (or if I make it to the end and hit stop!)
Isn't there a way to just set the IN point?

Hi Mortal P,
I know exactly what you mean when you say you dont want to break your flow when recording. Here's an alternative if you have tried and dont like punching on the fly as iS and Jim Frazier suggest.
1 - Before you start set <Right Autodrop> at the very end of your song. You dont need to touch this again until you are finish.
2 - <Set Left Autodrop by song position> to the beginning of the song or where you want to start recording. Assign a very easy Key Command to this function. It must be easy to reach with your guitar round your neck in between takes. Practise using it so it becomes as natural as tapping the space bar.
3 -Start recording - when you want to redo something stop the sequencer. Shift the SPL to just before the mistake and reset <Left Autodrop by Song position>
5 - Pick a new start point to <set left autodrop> Rewind the track so you get a good lead in to that point and press RECORD again
6 - Get used to resetting <left Autodrop by Song position> so you can do it without thinking. You can quickly build up a set of takes from bar one to the end in an intuitive and creative way without the technology interrupting you. But you do have to become completely familiar with a few essential key commands
PS Another essential working practise is to make sure that your playing position ( you mentioned guitar) is well set up next to the computer. It has to be easy physically to turn to the computer keyboard and see the screen and press those essential commands in between takes with one hand. The technology just becomes seamless in these circumstances.

  • How do I set a punch-in point without a punch-out point?

    I'm recording an audiobook and I need to set a specific punch-in point where I mess up and then I'd like to continue recording without setting a punch-out point.  All I've been able to find so far is punching-in on the fly, but I don't want to do that because I need the punch in point at a specific spot, and I need to be focused on the text and hearing how I was reading it, no focused on pressing record at the right spot.  There's got to be a way to turn off the punch-out point using the auto punch... right?

    Hi
    'fraid not.... your only solution would be to set the punch out point far enough 'to the right' so that it becomes irrelevant

    1. in physical connections part can i use the same work schema
    2. Can i use same contexts created or do i need to create everything as new and then try?
    Thanks,
    Rp.
    Hi,
    As you mentioned that you just upgraded the database, so the data is same and schema is same you can connect with the same work schema.
    Yes, you can use the same contexts , but need to do Reverse Engineering for your new database.
    And about data server, i think you also have no need to create new data server, if hostname,sid and port etc are same as these were with R11(consult with your DBAs regarding it)

  • Dump while setting a break point in ECC 6.0

    Dear Experts,
    In ECC 6.0, when I try to put a break point in the program to stop the control there. I am not able to do so, it is going to dump. The dump message is also not very clear. Do anyone of you are facing the same problem. Any idea why is this happening and how do I fix it.
    Can it be due to the improper installation? Please respond.

    First of all thanks to Mickey, Nitin, Anki, Sujit, Red, Madhu, Vibin for the quick response...To be honest I did not expect such a response as a new member to the SDN community...I am sorry I could not mention the detail about the dump initially...Here is the detailed description..
    Issue: In ECC 6.0, when I write a simple ABAP program (e.g. 'Hello World' program). When I try to keep the cursor on any abap statement and click on the 'session break point' icon in the tool bar to set the break point, i get a status message 'Compling SAPLBREA in separate task and finally i get the dump.
    Dump Detail :
    Runtime Errors: DBIF_REPO_SQL_ERROR
    Short Text : SQL error 1115 occurred when accessing program 'LNAVIDAT' part "SRC".
    Program: SAPLBREA
    Include: LBREATOP
    Row: 41
    There is a an include being called at line no 41, which is "Include LNAVIDAT".
    Now when I click on the 'debugger' icon in the dump...It points to a functional module "RS_SET_BREAKPOINT"
    Also, while double clicking on this include to see the code within, it issues an error message saying "SQL error occurred when accessing the table TRDIR".
                                    Or
    While trying to display the code of the include LNAVIDAT in se38 to see what is wrong with that i get another dump and this time it points to be SELECT query in the dump which is:
    SELECT SINGLE * from PROGDIR WHERE name = rs38m-programm
                                                              and  state = active.
    Thereafter, i keep getting dumps when i try to go to any T.codes (e.g. se11, se38 etc.). until i log off and log in again. Hope this helps you guys understanding the problem. Being new to SAP, I have no clue why is this happening and how to fix it. Thanks in Advance.

  • How to set the out point beyond 9.95 seconds???

    how to set the out point  in Motion 5 beyond 9.95 seconds???

    First you need to make sure your project is long enough then you can adjust the play range (in/out). To make sure the project is long enough:
    1. From the project properties (command-J) go to the Duration field and enter a new duration.
    2. Click on the down arrow icon to the right of the current time, there is an option to show the project duration. Once set to this you can double click the number and type in a new project duration. I'd recommend setting it back to show current time when done.
    3. Of course you can also change the duration of a project when it is first created, in the project browser.
    Once you're sure you have a long enough project you can adjust the in and out range.  You then use the zoom controls in the bottom of the timeline to show more of the timeline and adjust the play range as needed. There's lots more about project and play range duration adjustments in the documentation: http://help.apple.com/motion/mac/5.1/

  • How do I make mail readable, text barely readable on screen when set to 12 point text.

    Is there a way to increase the size of the displayed mail, as you are creating it?
    I have mine set to 12 point text, but it is still difficult to read. The e-mail when received is fine, it's the creating that's "tiny"
    Thanks
    Mike

    I use "screen zoom" (control + scroll up/down) often when creating these responses.  Or for anything else where I do not want to change the number of open winodws.
    You can also write the message in 16 pt font and "select all" to make it 12-point before sending.

  • How do you set the in point of a clip?

    I'm using the timeline template that has a number of clips flying by and I need to adjust the in point of the clips. To be clear, I'm NOT trying to adjust the point that the clip appears in the timeline but instead the portion of the clip that will be displayed as it fly's by within the Motion timeline.

    All that that seems to do is set the in point of the clip on the Motion timeline. Again, what I am attempting to do is change what is seen on the particular clip that has been dropped into this template. Where the inset clip window appears on the timeline is fine but I want is a later portion of the video within that clip to be shown as it is flying by. As it is now the clip is just beginning to show the footage I want as it is flying out of view.

  • How can I plot two sets of data points in 3d graph?

    I am trying to plot two sets of data points in 3d graph. I also need to make a set of data with one color and the other set with a different color. For example, I need to plot 10 (x,y,z) data points in 3d. Maybe 6 points need to be blue, and the other 4 red. Could you tell me how?

    What is your LabVIEW version? (things are a bit different in 8.6).
    Basically, you create multiple instances of the VI that gets placed automatically when you drop the 3D graph and then wire a different number to the plot ID at the bottom.
    You define all the plots (color, style) via the properties dialog.
    Have a look at my example posted here. One plot is "blue dots" and one is a "shaded surface". See how far you get.

  • How to gather a set of floating point numbers from a web page form?

    I am pretty new to Java and I am working on a project to apply Benfords law to find the probability of digits submitted by the user. My first step is to gather set of floating point numbers from a web page. How do I go about doing this? Any suggestion or a proper site where I can learn this stuff will be highly appreciated.

    I am using NetBeans IDE 5.5.1 and for this project. I have realized that the first question was not well phrased.
    I created a web project with 2 jsp files and a class file in it. When my jsp file runs I ask the user to enter a number for finding the probablility based on Benfords law.
    This is what I got so far:
    This is input.jsp
    <h1></h1>
    Please enter a number to be checked
    <form action="result.jsp" method="post">
    <input type="number" name="number" >
    <input type="submit" value="Check number">
    </form>
    </body>
    </html>
    This is result.jsp
    String number=request.getParameter("number");

  • Set Compressor in point?

    I'm trying to export out of Final Cut, but not include the entire file. This can be done easily in Compressor by simply setting an in point. But I can't seem to figure out how to do it from FCS because the in/out points aren't in the compressor settings.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Mario

    I'm trying to create an automation that can take a quicktime movie, cut out a portion of that file based on timecode, and re-compress it to different formats. It's something I do now by hand in compressor, but I can't figure out how to send that same kind of job to compressor out of FC server.
    Thanks,
    Mario

  • How to set a change pointer for a perticular table?

    Hi,
    Please let me know how to set a change pointer for a perticular table.

    what do you mean by 'change pointer'? normally this idiom is used for sending ÍDOCs from one system/client/org-unit to another ...
    do you generally want to record changes to a specific table? then set parameter rec/client using RZ10 for your instance profiles and restart the instances in order for the parameter to take effect.
    set the table to 'record all changes' using SE11.
    you might re-consider if the table has a lot of  data and is accessed very often for performance-resons.
    change protocols can be evaluated using tx, SCU3.

  • Setting an out point on a clip

    When setting an in point on a clip and you hit "+" it appears as if you can advance the cursor to a specific time when you type in a value, but I can't seem to make it work. Does anyone know how?

    hmmm, in the event bowser it does not work for me either, hitting the minus key moves the out point back, but hitting the plus key appears not to move either the CTI or either the in or out points.
    A work around that uses the same idea and number of keystrokes.
    Set an in point and then using the ctrl d function set the duration this allows you to create a clip of an exact duration.

  • How to set a Break point in Comp Workbench

    Hello Guys,
    I have a Z** Enhancement set ( t-code: bsp_wd_cmpwb)  and i have a view & a Z**IMPLclass for it.
    I need a way to set a break point in the Z*IMPLclass in t-code: bsp_wd_cmpwb.
    I have my code in this Z* impl class and making some changes for a field. I want to be able to debug this field in this Z**class
    when i launch the Web UI  using CRM_UI.
    Can someone help me on this?
    Thanks
    Ricky

    Hi,
    you should set an External Breakpoint (Ctrlshiftf9 in CRM 7.0) in the point you want to debug in bsp_wd_cmpwb. Then debug opens in the GUI as soon as you reach that breakpoint in the Web UI.
    Regards,
    Laura.

  • How to set line break points in JSF Facelets files on NetBeans?

    I am running debugger on NetBeans. I can set line break points for jsp files but cannot for Facelets files with extension 'xhtml'. Dose anybody know how to set break points for Facelets xhtml files? Or is it possible to set break points for xhtml filles?
    Thank you very much.

    You can't. They aren't executable code, they are templates. The only executable code is the part inside #{}.
