Setting Reader preferences

I believe this is not possible within Javascript, correct ?
I think the best one could do is to provide a button to do an execMenuItem("GeneralPrefs")....no ?
However, I was wondering....is it possible to create a custom Reader installation package that would allow customization of the default preference settings in Reader ?
Has anyone done that ?

There is a system administrators installation tool that allows one to make a custom instillation but it is very version specific and you would need licenses to distribute Reader.
What would you do for existing instillations. Many users could become very angry over you changing their installations.
Also how would handle installations that have restrictions on the system program folders and only allow certain network sources to perform instillations?

Multiple Libraries: 2 sets of preferences?

When using multiple libraries, is it possible to have a set of preferences for each one? For example: I have an Apple Lossless library which contains all of my music and I’d like to create an AAC library for use with my Nano. When I create a new library and change the importing preferences to 256 AAC, those settings remain when I open my Apple Lossless library.

Those choices are controlled via System Preferences, Trackpad.

Is there a way to set a preference for image resolution in PSE10?

Once I transfer image files from the camera to the Organizer (PSE10), they are listed in the information panel window as having a resolution of 180. I use the printer more than the internet for these files, so I really want the resolution to be 300 or above, and would like to set a preference to that effect. I know that I can resize them individually, or by a group, but I'd like to get the resolution set properly in the first place rather than adding yet antoher setp in my post processing efforts. I am assuming that the resolution is set by PSE10 because I can't find anywhere in the camera's (Canon Powershot SX40 HS) user manual that mentions that the camera sets a resolution. Is there some way that I can adjust the resolution that PSE10 assigns the images when they are imported into the Organizer? I'm using Windows 7 with 12GB Ram. Thank you very much.

I'll guess that you've used a page layout document & pasting created a text box. You can add more pages & create linked text boxes, but I think you'd be better of using a word processing document. In word processing documents there is a basic text layer & additional pages will be created as needed to fit the text. Take a look at the toolbar of your document. If it says "sections" for the +page icon it's a word processing document, if it says "pages" it's a page layout document.

How do I set my preferences to open most recent catalog?

I'm running LR 4.1 with ACR 7.1 on a Windows 7 64 bit OS.
I set my preferences to open most recent catalog.
I then open another catalog and do some stuff in the catalog but when I start LR next time it keeps going back to a different catalog. How can I change the settings so it either opens the most recent catalog or I get prompted for which catalog I'd like to open (I've tried both settings) and LR still keeps opening the same catalog.

In the same dialog that your screenshot shows select as per this screen shot:
Your setting should open the catalog you most recently worked with. If you work on catalog A, then open catalog B, with your settings Lr will open with catalog B the next time.

During an msi install how do I set Reader to NOT be the default pdf viewer?

Just to add to this question:
On Mac OS 10.5, using Acrobat 8 Professional, every time Acrobat Pro starts up, I get the question "Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional.app is not currently configured to be the default application for PDF files. Would you like to make PDF files open with Adobe Acrobat Professional.app instead of Preview.app?"
My answer is "No," but my preference in this matter is not retained. I get the question every single time I launch Acrobat Pro. Where is the button labeled "And don't ask me again!" ?
I have combed through the Preference dialog and not been able to find any setting that seems related to this. To be clear, I am not talking about what happens when I double-click a PDF file in the Finder. I'm talking about what happens when Acrobat 8 Professional is opened directly.

Reader Crashes when accessing Reading preferences

Pretty much what the title says. Everytime I try to access the Reading preferences section it crashes 100% of the time. I need to change the default setting (which I'm assuming is in the Reading preferences section) that tells the window what size % to open the windows at as it's opening every document I open at 173% which is rediculous as a default! How do I access this setting when all it does is crash when I try?

This would have included iChat 6 at version 6.0.1
IF you do a Get Info (see File Menu in Finder) on the iChat Or Messages app what version does it say is Installed ?
IF you disconnect the camera does the app Crash ?

Setting Default Preferences for All Users in Crystal Reports Server 2008 v1

We are currently looking to set the default preferences in the CMC for all of our users.

The first part of the thread did seem promising but I am unable to find the sample .jsp code that people recommended.
I would assume that this scenario is common enough that someone knows a way to set universal preference defaults.

I thought I could just run it too but when I attempt to I get a Windows Script Host error:

I noticed the first most line seems to be markup for a web interface though I am not familiar with vbs so I may be wrong. I used the publishing wizard to put the script on the CMC to attempt to run it through the CMC but it still does not work.

Execution preference is more related to the "Semantic Compression" capability of the application/framework than the "backward compatiblity" with 04/04s.
Whenever the semantic compression is enabled, sync order has to be present for the set of data object to ensure the correct order of the data going to the server.
As all the backward compatible applications are "Semantic compression enabled" this option is mandatory for those applications.
But non-backward compatible applications might also want to use "semantic compression" feature to reduce the traffic over the network. In this case, those applications will also need this feature. Hence this feature of settting the sync order is available for all the SWCVs.

I am writing a script that will set my preferences to my preferred settings.
I have been able to define most of the preferences but there are a few I cannot figure out.
How do I:
-specify snippets are to be placed in original location
-specify which shortcut set is to be used
-import printer presets from a saved set (.prst file)

Adblock is not blocking all ads even tho I've set my preferences

I installed AdBlock and set my preferences to stop all ads - even the 'acceptable ads' but I continue to have the invasion. If I can't stop this. Firefox will cease to be my preferred browser. I don't want to see ANY ads while I'm on the Internet. It's bad enough that they appear on videos and the side bars. But popping onto the screen where you are trying to work is just plain rude.

Followed the steps. Hopefully the intrusion will stop. Thanks for the help!

I've set up two different libraries and was wondering if it is possible for each library to have its own set of preferences?
I want a different iTunes music folder for each library, but when I go between the libraries the folder in the preferences stays the same.
