Setting Recurring Dates in Calendar

Many times I need to set a recurring event in the Calendar based not on a fixed date but on a day of the week - such as the last Monday of each month or the last Monday of a given month. If this is not possible in the current version of Calendar, does Apple plan to address this in OS 4.0?

You are correct that this "option" is only available via iCal (on the MAC OS) settings. You can use the desktop iCal to make the adjustment "option" and it will then synch to your iPhone next time you synch.
I guess I didn't realize you were speaking about the iPhone. this forum is for MAIL, CONTACTS and CALENDAR . . . not iPhone specific. <GRIN>

  • Setting recurring events in calendar

I have an I phone 4. I am trying to set recurring meetings that occur for example; on the second Wednesday of every month. On the repeat selection, there is no option for that. I find this very odd as many professionals have recurring events and meetings that would need to be scheduled this way.
The only workaround I see is to add it to my desktop Outlook calendar which does have this type of recurring event.

The easiest way, unfortunately, is to make that kind of recurrance in the calendar app in your computer then sync it to the ipad
the ipad calendar app handles a lot of repeat patterns, but not that one.

  • Deleting recurring birthdate in Calendar

I have set up a recurring birthdate in Calendar from my iPad &amp; it is the wrong day.  I can find nothing in the user manual about how to delete the date &amp; when I view the details, there is no "delete" option.  Help please!

If your iPad or iPhone calendar is linked to Google Calendar, go your Google Calendar and delete it there. The change will be reflected on your device. It appears you cannot delete a recurring appointment in GC from the iPad or iPhone but you can from GC.

  • Recurring Dates for Training

My department is new to Sharepoint (by which i mean I am very ignorant about it,) and at present we use it for setting up our training calendars. This is the process we currently use to do so:
We have an online learning course (let's call it Northern Book Cooking). This course runs for three days from 10:00-7:00, and it runs four times a year - say Jan 18, March 16, May 4, October 20. Each session is the same - if you can't sign up for January,
you can take the May course and so on.
In order to add these sessions to our calendar we first make a template, and then create a training event through Workflows. The training event asks for our course ID number, the last day one can register for it, its location and the start and end date.
The way we currently work is that we make the start and end day the same but change the times (so it starts on Jan 18 10:00 and ends Jan 18 at 7;00). Then we go over to the calendar, open up the first day, and click the recurring box. We then check the weekdays
and add the end date, so that Northern Book Cooking runs from Jan 18-20, and each day goes from 0:00-7:00. Then we go back to training templates and start all over again for the next date, March 16.
What I want to know is if there is a way we can cut-out that last part entirely. I want to be able to go to workflows, add a new training event, add the start date (Jan 18), add the end date (Jan 20), and add the times, and then have Sharepoint do the rest.,
so that ultimately the course runs for three days, and each day runs from 10-7, and I don't have to fiddle with the recurrence function 'manually.' Is there a way to do this? i know you can set sharepoint to recur a date monthly, but you don't appear to be
able to select the months, it just occurs as a pattern date (Jan 18, Feb 18, March 18) until you tell it to stop.
Any help? Or am I dreaming of the impossible?
We are currently using Sharepoint 2007, and will be updating to 2013 in the NEw Year. If there is a solution that works only in a later version, let me know anyways.

    Hi,
You can do this fairly easily using dbms_scheduler.evaluate_calendar_string which supports a rich standard calendaring syntax here is a function which prints out dates and an example. You can find more calendaring syntax examples here

    Regards,
EskThe reason the Set Variable piece disappears is because a presentation variable cannot contain multiple values. If you want to perform a calculation on a date to filter your report, do this:
    1) Keep the Operator as "is equal to/is in."
    2) Now set your PV to what you want.
    3) In your report, build a CASE statement or use the TIMESTAMPADD function to make whatever calculation you want.
Example: Let's suppose you wanted to filter your report for all Sales Dates "greater than or equal to" the prompt selection. You would set the date prompt to "equal" a date a user selects and then save it to your Presentation Variable, say pv_SalesDate.
Now in your report on your Sales Date column, put a filter like this:
    tablename."Sales Date" >= '@{pv_SalesDate}'
This will achieve what you are looking for.

  • In setting up my ICal calendar I have specific times (as new events) that I want to be included in the print out.  This doesn't happen.

In setting up my ICAL calendar I have specific times (as new events) for each day.  When it prints out the time does not show up (rather its a bar).  I would like the time for each appointment to print out. How do I do this?

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have failed to move contacts and calendar items across you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • Any easier way to set due dates?

By and large, I'm pretty happy with the functionality of iCal, even if it's a bit basic. But setting due dates on to dos and events is very frustrating!
Let's say you add a new to do, then click the due date box. Today's date is filled in, say, 26/08/2007 in my part of the world. I want to schedule the to do for next month. To change it you click on the day part, enter a number (say, 08), then tab or click on the month part. At this time the iCal display jumps to 08/08/2007 (in the past!). Now I get to manually type in the new month, 9, and press Return or tab and things are good again. It's all kind of long-winded and messy. What's sorely needed is a drop-down calendar picker, or the ability to click on the existing calendar at the left to pick a date.
Does anyone know of any easier way to enter due dates? I've even looked for external programs that handle to do functionality, but can't find any that automatically sync changes to iCal for syncing to my Palm Treo. Anyone know if iCal in Leopard is any better in this regard?
    Thanks in advance!

I couldn't agree more. I can't believe that this has escaped Apple for so long, and didn't even make it into Leopard. Let's say its the middle of November and I want to schedule a to-do due date for the end of the week, say Friday, second week of December. I do this all the time. Sorry, but I can't do the math this quickly, so I need to open up a calendar, or scroll down the calendar, then enter the exact date manually.
Just give me a quick pop-up. Travel web sites do this. Now Up To Date in 1992 had drop down calendars. So does Entourage, which is what I use ONLY because of this one glaring pain. Entering due dates, reminders, etc, is just a pain in iCal, and even worse now in Mail.

  • Scheduling a recurring date that doesn't occur in some months

if i schedule a recurring date for 30th of the month, in February, what happens to my appointment? Does it simply not schedule it or schedule it for the last possible day?

Odd. First you have to choose the FREQUENCY (e.g. Monthly).
Then you need to choose the FREQUENCY again and choose CUSTOM to see these options. Apple should really fix this by showing the option for custom after the frequency has been selected.
It would also help if these same options were supported in Calendar on iOS.

  • PreparedStatement set date sometimes sets the date one day behind

I have a PreparedStatement that sometimes sets the date a day behind. I am saving to a MSSQL DB with a field datetime. I have two identical PreparedStatments, one for insert and one for update. When either is executed, it will sometimes set the date back one day. It's not everytime. Every other or every third one, but it's not consistent. Any help would be appreciated.

The database is a datetime field. Then you should be using the appropriate java jdbc time/date methods to access it rather than strings.
We are only storing the date portion. Saving with today's date should produce '2009-12-28 00:00:00.000'.
I just want to set the date to an absolute date (no time value) provided without timezones.Impossible. Since the database datatype is datetime that means that a timezone is always involved.
And java always uses timezones. Ignoring the problem doesn't make it go away.

  • How to implement a Date Picker (Calendar) as a LOV in Portal Form?

I have a form, which will input date from user, and I also have javascript calender.
How to implement a Date Picker (Calendar) as a LOV in Portal Form? Do I need to choose POPUP and LOV for Date?
Instead of typing the Date within a Portal form, a popup Calender that will allow user to Pick a date.
    Please help anyone!!

Once you have the JavaScript and have added it to your form, you need to the the following. First off, you need to be able to customize the HTML code for the form (i.e. choose custom for form type when creating the form). Once you do that go into the custom layout to customize your HTML code. Find the field you want to add the date picker to. It will be <#your_field_name.ITEM#>
    Paste this code after it:
    <a href="javascript:show_calendar('forms[0.elements[16');" onmouseover="window.status='Date Picker';return true;" onmouseout="window.status='';return true;"><img src="the source of your image file" width=34 height=21 border=0></a></TD>
You will have to play around with the forms[0].elements[16]. 16 is what date field is set to. However your will differ, so just play with it.
    Hope this helps.
