Setting recurring events in calendar

I have an I phone 4. I am trying to set recurring meetings that occur for example; on the second Wednesday of every month. On the repeat selection, there is no option for that. I find this very odd as many professionals have recurring events and meetings that would need to be scheduled this way.
The only workaround I see is to add it to my desktop Outlook calendar which does have this type of recurring event.

The easiest way, unfortunately, is to make that kind of recurrance in the calendar app in your computer then sync it to the ipad
the ipad calendar app handles a lot of repeat patterns, but not that one.

Because The Calendar app does not support it. There are apps in the App store that do.

  • Set up recurring event in calendar

I want to set up an event which happens every second Thursday of each month. If I select monthly it puts it on the same date each month which is not necessarily the second Thursday. I can do this on calendar on my Mac but can't figure out how  to do it on my iPhone 5s with 7.1.2.

Thanks for responding Chris. I was afraid that it couldn't be done. It,s really a shame as I have many such recurring events each month so Calendar is not of much use to me. I will check out your suggestion about synching. I have my recurring events set up on my Mac calendar and that works fine. I currently don't synch my iPhone with iTunes just copy pics with image capture and do manual backups.

  • Setting Recurring Dates in Calendar

Many times I need to set a recurring event in the Calendar based not on a fixed date but on a day of the week - such as the last Monday of each month or the last Monday of a given month. If this is not possible in the current version of Calendar, does Apple plan to address this in OS 4.0?

You are correct that this "option" is only available via iCal (on the MAC OS) settings. You can use the desktop iCal to make the adjustment "option" and it will then synch to your iPhone next time you synch.
I guess I didn't realize you were speaking about the iPhone. this forum is for MAIL, CONTACTS and CALENDAR . . . not iPhone specific. <GRIN>

  • How to show next instance of Recuring Event in Calendar List View

We have a calendar that we are using to display upcoming events.  However we are unable to get a clean output of next instance date for recurring events such as paydays or monthly meetings.  As opposed to showing next instance it shows the date
the event was originally put in the calendar.
I am guessing it will take a custom script, but I don't even know where to begin with that.

    Hi Swen,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to display the recurring events as separated events in the calendar list view.
I recommend to create a Standard View, with Expanded Recurring Events for the calendar list,
and each instance of a recurring event will be showing in this view.

  • How to set repeating event in calendar

I'm using maverick that doesn't exist in the choices.  macbook pro retina.  Calendar has not setting for repeating appointments.  The instructions in help are completely wrong.

    Hi,
It may help if you describe what you see when you edit an event, or better post a screenshot of the window.
The instructions I see in Calendar's help are:
    1. Double-click the event, then click the event’s date.
    2. Choose how often you want the event to occur from the Repeat menu.
    Every day:
It occurs every day, at the same time.
    Every week:
It occurs at the same time, on the same day, every week.
    Every month:
It occurs at the same time, on the same day, every month.
    Every year:
It occurs at the same time, on the same day, every year.
    Custom:
It occurs at the same time, on custom days. For example, you can set the event to occur on the first Wednesday of every month.
    3. Choose when to stop the event from the End menu.
    Best wishes

  • Strange recurring event on calendar

I have a recurring event on the 2nd or 3rd day of each month on the calendar of my iphone - "Enjoy the music. Charge ipod". I don't know where this came from and I can't get rid of it. Edit is not available if I select it. Does anyone know what this is and how I can delete it?
    Thanks

Outlook 2007, although it hasn't actually been synced for a couple of months, this odd "appointment" has appeared quite recently, within the last month or so.

  • Cannot delete recurring events in calendar

All of a sudden, with the (TERRIBLE) changes of iOS 7, recurring events will not delete or be changed. Each time I try to delete or even change an event, it walks through the correct process tellingme that it is a recurring event and asking if I want to delete just this one or all future events. I say all future. All's good. It goes away. then 5 seconds later it shows up again!  Same thin when I try to edit or move an event. I have tried on all my devices  to delete the same event -- it always returns!
I am running iMac intel with OS X 10.9
    iPhone & iPad iOS 7
and I am at a loss as how to do it differently.
I found on earlier sites to put " sudo chmod -a# 0 ~/Library/Preferences/ into terminal -- but Termal came back with "
    chmod: No ACL present '
Any thoughts?  Anyone else having this problem?

Is this a synced calendar or just on the phone?
For a synced calendar, you will need to go to the Settings App > Mail,Contacts,Calendar and remove it from there.
For a calendar on the device, open the calendar app > Calendars > Seelct the calendar(s) in question (tap on the blue arrow to the right) > scroll down and tap Delete Calendar.

  • Setting up event in Calendar

Anyone know of a way to setup a recurring event that is every 4 weeks?

No not every month which it thinks is the same day every month I am talking about ever 4 weeks there is a difference. Should have a week and then a multiplier.

  • Problem with editing recurring events on calendar

Ever since the 2.2 update I cannot edit any recurring appointments in calendar.  As an example if I need to cancel or change the time of just this weeks scheduled appointment I am only given the option to delete all the future appointments or change the time for all future appointments.  I cannot edit or cancel just the current weeks appointment.  Called HTC and got the usual "We're working on it."

It might be something that can be only edited while logged into the Google calender on a PC via the web.  I know that there are limitations for the type of reoccuring options on the phone.  There are more options within the PC version.

  • Iphone5 deleted most recurring events in Calendar when changing one event and confirming Save for All Future Events

This has occurred now twice today, requiring me to resync my iphone5 in order to recapture the majority of my Calender events that were in place before this mysterious disappearance took place. When I touched the "Save for All Future Events" button, the process took much longer than usual, with this result. My iCloud account is set only for Backups; nothing on my iphone is set to sync with iCloud. Has anyone else had disappearing Calender Events in the new iphone5 or any ideas what may be causing this to happened - never before occurred on previous iphones.

I had the same problem and thought it was fixed after spending a lot of time last night going through all my appointments on my 9900 and fixing them. Then this morning I did a 1-way sync with my PC and after updating all my categories in Outlook I did a 2-way sync just to have the same thing all over again.
I resolved the problem by replacing DM7 with DM6.1
I just can't see how after 6 months this can happen. It's not like syncing calendar appointments is something only a handful of people do.

  • 3GS only showing recurring events on calendar before 9/23/12 but all events are showing in icloud and on laptop.

Discovered my 3GS no longer shows on the calendar nonrepeating events before 9/23/12. However, those events show in icloud and on my laptop. We tried reloading icloud but still missing. Guess is due to downloading of IOS6 - if so, why didn't Apple let us know we couldn't download upgrade to 3GS?  Also, will be ordering Iphone 5 and want to ensure have ALL calendar etc. downloaded.  Can it be done using the 3GS in the store or will I have to  take home and do with laptop?

Did you try going to Settings>iCloud and turning Calendars to Off and when it asks if you want to keep the data, declining?  This will erase the calendar from your phone but not from iCloud.  Then, after waiting a minute or so,  turn Calendars back to On, and if prompted, choose Merge to redownload your calendar.

  • How to set repeating events in Calendar

The former "repeat" option in the create/edit events window seems to be missing in Maveicks. Anyone here discovered where it's moved to, how to do it?

Hmmm closed Claendar, reopened it and the Repeat option was back.
FWIW, the repeat option also disappeared in Fantastical but returned after restarting the Calendar app

  • How do you create a recurring event in calendar?

I want to repeat something yearly on the fourth Sunday in March, but there is no way to do it?

Yes, I think that you are right. There is no yearly category. Also, Apple needs to have settings under "month" (30th of every month? 4th Thursday, last Thursday?). As far as I can tell, it cannot be done on the phone, but instead you have to use Outlook, or some calendar function on a computer. Also, other recurring schedules like "every N (like 6) weeks" does not seem possible right now.
    Apple, Please improve the calendar!

  • Why cant I set an event in calendars to default to an alarm?

Seems too logical.  At least at the time of the event so it doesn't pass without even a beep.
