Setting "reply to" email address to different address

Hi
<edited by host> I do not want to use the email address that they provide. I want to be able to receive the email from one server account (call it A) when I am at home and, even though I am using a different account for sending email from there, I want the email address that appears on the top of my messages to reflect the address from that account (A) and not the address from which I am sending it. I have managed to do this on my PCs where I can receive mail from one place, set the account that I want to appear on the top of the outgoing email to whatever I want folks to see, and set the outgoing email to go from a different account. The best that I can get on my MAC is that I now have to click on "use selected server" whenever I want to send the message. I am sorry for asking what must be a seemingly stupid question but I want to use my MAC as my main internet computer and need to find a way to set my email so that people's replies to my messages don't go to an email address that I have no intention of using. Any advice??????

If this is the question I think it is, then this has nothing to do with Mac OS X Server (which is the subject of this discussion forum); this looks to be a straight-on question involving the Apple Mail configuration and your particular ISP(s).
To implement what (I'm guessing) you want to do here (in 10.5), launch Apple Mail. Select the Mail menu - Preferences - Accounts - select the account you want to effect - in the email address box, enter a comma-separated list of email addresses you want to "send from" with the specified email server.
Presuming the server permits it, you can then select which address you want with the particular email server when you're sending your email.
Alternatively, you can just have the particular reply address here, and not whatever was originally entered for use with the account. This is what Camelot points to in his reply.
This comma-separated sequence works with 10.5; it's been a while since I've worked with 10.4 and I've long-since forgotten most everything I ever knew about 10.3.
And FWIW, not all mail servers at all ISPs will accept this particular redirection mechanism.

  • How to set my "reply to" email address to an email forwarded address

I own my own url, which is my last name, and I want the emails I send from mail to actually look like they came from "[email protected]" and not from the cryptic email name that my dsl provider assigned to me. By the way, "[email protected]" email addresses actually is set up to forward emails replied to it back to my cryptic email address (that is my real dsl email address).
I almost lost myself there, but my basic question is how do I tell "Mail" to send out a different reply email address when I send someone an email.

Does your ISP/DSL provider allow customers to enter a different email address to be shown as the sending address for an email account provided by the ISP?
If so, enter [email protected] in the email address field under the Account Information tab for your DSL account preferences.
This will appear as the sending email address for the account.
If your ISP restricts their customers from doing this (some do since spammers don't provide a valid sending or reply to address with their bulk spam mailings), you can include a Reply To address field for the message header but the reply to email address must be entered manually for each sent message.

  • Can I set a default Reply-From email address on my iPad/iPhone?

In Mail for the Mac, there is an option under the Compose settings to set a default Reply-From email address for all your emails, so that, regardless of which account any email came from, you will always reply by default from one specific address. Is there a way to set a default Reply-From address on the iPad/iPhone?

[EDIT: Sorry, mis-read question. Ignore me.]

  • How do I set up two email address on the same account?

Using Mail in Mac OS X 10.6.2 and moving to Mac for the first time, I have been unable to set up two email addresses on the same account. Entering them, separated by commas, as advised in the Help does not seem to work. I have tried making them both the same password and have tried separating the passwords with a comma but no luck. Unable to set up another account for the second address because it correctly tells me that the account already exists.
    Is there a way?
    Thanks for any help.

After a comprehensive trial and error session, using a new Guest Account each time to be sure of no contamination from the previous trial, I have finally cracked it!
The problem was logging on to the outgoing server.
Setting up the first account was fairly straightforward but if I allow Mail to do it automatically I am unable to send because Mail has defaulted to 'Authentication Required' when my server does not require it. Setting the account manually without authentication enables send and receive to work OK.
If i try to set up the second account automatically, Mail crashes.
If I set it up manually and choose 'No Authentication', Mail crashes.
If I set it up manually and choose 'Authentication Required' and enter the full email address as the User Name together with password, Mail crashes.
If I set it up manually and choose 'Authentication Required' and enter the first part of the email address together with password, Mail crashes.
However, if I set it up manually and choose 'Authentication Required' and enter the first part of the email address as User Name and no password, Mail accepts it and sets up the account.
At this point the account receives mail but cannot send it.
If I go into the Mail preferences and try to edit the outgoing server details, Mail will not accept no Authentication.
I eventually found that if I uncheck the 'Always Use This Server' box, all account then use the server on the first account, which is correctly set up.
Now I have my four email accounts all able send and receive.
One little concern remains. In Outlook Express I could look at the properties of a received email and see what address it had come from, together with many other details. I haven't found out yet whether this can be done in Mail. I just wonder whether if I reply to some email, it will appear to have come from a different address from the one it was sent to.
Thanks again for all the inputs.
    Allan

  • How to set a rescue email address without answering security questions?

As it turns out i don't have any rescue email address and forgot my security questions! so how can I know what was my answers to those questions?! or how can I set a rescue email address when I couldn't go to the "password and security" section?

You won't be able to add a rescue email address until you can answer your questions, you will have to contact Support in your country to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT5699
If your country isn't on that page then try this form and explain and see what they reply with : https://ssl.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
When they've been reset you can then add a rescue email address for potential future use : http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201356
Or if it's available in your country you could change to 2-step verification : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5570

  • Reply-to email address

    Hi,
I need a bpel process to receive the reply-to email address from the ns_emails.xml file or /orabpel/domains/default/metadata/MailService/oracle.xml file.
I'm setting the replyto address for an html href link during a xslt transformation prior to sending an HTML email with the links included in the body.
Has anyone do this? as I do not want to hard code the email address in the BPEL process.
    Phil

I had a similar issue, here's what eventually worked for me:
Up until the MM update this week, all my calendars ("Work", "Home") were "On My Mac" and were always synced over the air. To be able to respond to invites with my work email address, the latter had to be the first one in the list of email addresses in my own address card in Address Book. I barely ever receive any invites on my home calendar, so if I ever responded to them with my work email, that wouldn't have been an issue for me. On the other hand, it was very important for me that responses sent from my work calendar were sent with my work email address.
Since the MM update, it seems that I can respond to an invite ONLY IF the invite was sent to my MM email address. Remember that after the upgrade, all your "On My Mac" calendars have been moved to "[email protected]". So I created a new work calendar "On My Mac", and when I receive an invite, instead of double-clicking it, I drag it to my work calendar. Then I'm able to respond to it with the correct work email address. The downside is that now the calendars "On My Mac" don't sync over the air thru MM anymore, so my iPhone is only updated when it syncs with iTunes.

I cant remember my apple id sequrity questions and i didnt set a rescue email address. What can i do??

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • Set up alias email address

How do you set up alias email address in Muse?

    Hi Maura79,
It's not possible to set up email accounts or aliases from within Muse. You will need to do this through the Business Catalyst admin console.
However, note that the webHosting plan does not include email. You will need to upgrade to webBasics+ which you can do from within the admin console > Site Settings > Site Management. Once upgraded, navigate to Site Settings > Email Accounts in order to add your email accounts and aliases.
    Thanks,
    Matt.

  • Me outgoing mail server not working from iPhone / Reply to email address

Hi, I have MM sent up on my iPhone and Mac, the SMTP outgoing mail server does not work from the iPhone but does from the Mac, to get around this I changed the outgoing server on the iPhone to my optusnet outgoing server, that has been working fine, the problem I have is if someone reply's to a email from the phone it gets bounced back becuase the reply to email address for me is @mac.com not from @me.com
I have tried to change the reply to email address in the phone but it only allows you to change the name not the @mac.com
I have only ever had a Me account not a .Mac account so I dont know why its locked to @mac

I deleted the MM account on the phone and reinstalled it again. Now it is working.
