  • Set reports_path in AS 10g

    Hi everyone,
    I am having a problem setting the reports_path on AS 10g. I changed the environment variable to C:\ORACLE\ORAWINFRS\REPORTS on a windows 2003 machine. That's where my reports are saved.
    But, when I try to run a report from a form, it can not find it. Also, when I run this http://......:7778/reports/rwservlet/showenv... to see the environment variables for the report server. I do not see my new setting as part of the reports_path. This is whats in my
    REPORTS_PATH :
    C:\oracle\orawinfrs\reports\templates;C:\oracle\orawinfrs\reports\samples\demo;C:\oracle\orawinfrs\reports\integ;C:\oracle\orawinfrs\reports\printers;
    Is there another place where I can set reports_path in the AS10g?
    Thanks for your help in advance!

    With a Report invoked via URL, such as http://host/reports/rwservelet..., I believe what you are looking for is in the %OH%\reports\conf\rep_(hostname).conf. In that file under <engine id="rwEng", there is a sourceDir property, which is the directory path for the reports. You will need to uncomment this tag after you put in the directory path. Example:
    <property name="sourceDir" value="d:\abc\def\reports"/>
    You can access this file via Middle Tier Enterprise Manager, then select Reports Server: rep_hostname, then select Edit Configuration File. What you are editing is the file mentioned above. It will require a restart of the report server.
    Hope that works for you. Regards, John

  • Setting 'REPORTS_PATH' for 10g

    hi
    i wanna to call a report from a form(10g). I know i have to set REPORTS_PATH to define the path of reports. The problem is that, I have my reports on other machine than application server. if i set the reports_path for local machine's reports, it works properly, but i m unable to set the reports_path for remote machine e.g.
    REPORTS_PATH=\\macine_name\folder_name
    thanks

    You can use UNC notation in reports_path, but the user that runs the reports server must be able to access this directory.
    If you are running on Windows, the service is likely to run under LocalSystem, which has no access to remote directories. Run the service as a real domain user.

  • Setting up OSX server in a virtual environment

    I am looking into setting up OSX server in a virtual environment where the hardware will not be an Apple product. Can this be acccomplished

    With the release of OS X 10.10, are there any plans to update the license agreement so that Apple's new version of the OS X Server software can be run on non-Apple-branded hardware? It seems that Apple is willing to change the license agreement between 10.4 and 10.5, so why not change it between 10.9 and 10.10, especially since the OS X client software 10.10 is available as a free download through the App Store, and the OS X Server software is available for $20 through the App Store? It also makes sense to open the software sales market to non-Apple-branded hardware users, unless Apple really is feeling skittish about the professional marketable quality of its newer model computers like the 2014 Mac Pro towards server hosting provider companies. They are using comparable Intel Xeon E5 processors, but not making any effort to market that computer to web hosting providers, and they are certainly not getting their foot in the door by withholding the potential of their OS X Server software by allowing it only to be run on Apple-branded hardware. If Apple gets their foot in the door with server software, they will be in a market for selling their OS X Server software AND their Mac Pro line of server-similar hardware FIVE-FOLD by directly competing with Microsoft's IIS, Linux software developers, AMD hardware developers, and other server hardware and software developers. Intel should be PRODDING Apple to get into the server market, and offering OS X Server for a measly $20 to non-Apple-branded hardware users would essentially STEAL their customers away from them, vastly growing the Apple domain.
    If Apple does not want us to be making OS X Server applications, however, then by all means, they should simply discontinue the OS X Server software, because with the current license restriction of only being able to use the OS X Server software on Apple-branded hardware, in tandem with Apple's complete ignorance of the server market with their hardware which is using server-quality Intel Xeon E5 processors, Apple sitting in the water like an immobile swan among the Internet Server market is just plain dumb. I mean, Apple wants to make money, don't they? Or are they just fooling around with the consumer market, pretending like OS X Server running on a Mac Mini is something that Web Hosting Providers would take a second look at? MARKET YOUR MAC PRO LINE TO WEB HOSTING PROVIDERS AND LET OS X SERVER SOFTWARE RUN ON NON-APPLE-BRANDED HARDWARE ALREADY! STOP FOOLING AROUND HERE. APPLE SHOULD BE PARTNERING UP WITH VMWARE IN THIS ENDEAVOR; THEY HAVE MADE IT DIRT....SIMPLE.... TO ENTER THE SERVER MARKET THROUGH VMWARE ESXI.
    my gosh, even a caveman can do it
    why isn't Apple doing it

  • ORA-12505 - AIX - ProC/C++ - [AIX environment not properly set to NLS?]

    I DO need some help here!
    I have a C++ program accessing an Oracle 8.0.5 database ( which is set up for american_america.weiso8859p1 as the default language PLUS one more being: brazilian portuguese_brazil.weiso8859p1.
    When I log to the server which hosts the executable and try to run the application, I get the error ORA-12505 as soon as I try to connect to the database, but the error message can't be displayed, and instead, my exit routine displays: " Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-12505 "
    If, alternatively, I log to another server THEN issues a telnet to the the server which hosts the executable and try to run the application, I get the programm to run nicely.
    The settings of the environment variables ORA_NLS33 and NLS_LANGUAGE have been coded inside the C++ program (among first things in main) but it seems these settings have no effect in solving the problem.
    The server which hosts the application has an AIX 4.3.3.0 operating system.
    The server from which I issue the telnet command has an AIX 4.2.1.0 operating system.
    What are the things that must be set in AIX in order to correctly access the Oracle database? Where can I get this type of information?
    I do apreciate any clues to solve this problem of mine.
    Thanks!

    Sounds like this is a configuration problem:
    ORA-12505: TNS: listener could not resolve SID given in connect descriptor
    Cause: The SID in the CONNECT_DATA was not found in the listener's tables. This error will be returned if the database instance has not registered with the listener; the instance may need to be started.
    Action: Check to make sure that the SID specified is correct. The SIDs that are currently registered with the listener can be obtained by typing "LSNRCTL SERVICES <listener name>". These SIDs correspond to SID_NAMEs in TNSNAMES.ORA, or DB_NAMES in the initialization file.

  • Urgent . where to set reports_path to use with find_report_object

    Hello,
    I'm not sure it is possible but I want to execute a report from forms without having to create a report object at design time in the object navigator, or do I have to create a dummy?
    I thought it could be created at runtime and the find_report_object would just look for the given name in the reports_path.
    I looked up this path by going to http://w3gvb772:7778/reports/rwservlet/showenv?server=tgcrep772 is my repservername and checking the reports_path entry. I putted the report there to be sure I'm using the right path but it doesn't work?
    So questions are:
    Do i have to create a dummy object in the navigator bar at design time?
    Can a report_object be created at runtime and how?
    How can I change the default reports_path given in the link above?
    I have already an environment id added with the reports path but apparently this is not taken into account when running find_report_object
    Thanks for the help

    Hello,
    REPORTS_PATH is a variable used by the Reports Server. You cannot set it in the Forms envFile . (Or you can set it, but it will not be taken into account by the Reports Server...)
    It was possible in the previous versions when the Reports runtime (rwrun60 for example) was launched by Forms to execute a Reports.

  • Setting up a Multi-developer web authoring environment in a Mac house

    Hello,
    I have a team of 4 developers on Macs.  I am having difficulty setting up our environment so we can all work from the same code base.
    We have yet to enact version control, and use file check in and check out to make sure we don't overwrite each other.  My question is this:
    I have my machine configured as the web server (Apache/PHP).  My though was that I would share my site folder and configure the other
    machines in my group to use that folder as the "local" development folder.  I am having some connectivity and permissions issues that
    are making this not work so well.
    Is there a best-practice for this sort of thing?  If so, can anyone point me in the right direction?  I really need to get this solved before
    it blows up exponentially.
    Many thanks!
    Ike

    qwertyuiop,
    Here are some instructions that work well for Miroslav Philharmonik Plugin which is multi-timbral. It may work for your problem.
    In the Environment on the "Audio" layer:
    1) create an Audio Instrument and set the MIDI input to "All". Insert your plugin instrument.
    2) also in the "Audio" layer, create a Channel Splitter. ( New=>Channel Splitter) Name the Channel Splitter "strings" or whatever instrument you want.
    3) Cable Channel 1 of the "strings" Splitter (second point from top on left of Splitter) to the Audio Instrument containing the Philhamonik
    4) go to the Arrange window. Assign an Arrange track's output to the Channel Splitter you just named "strings". To do this, Click and hold the name of the Arrange track and select "strings" which should be under Audio.
    Now the MIDI notes recorded on MIDI Channel 1 will be sent from the Arrange track to the Philharmonk via the "strings" channel splitter
    5) Now, back in the Audio layer of the Environment, create a new Channel Splitter named "flute".
    6) Cable the "flute" splitter's MIDI Channel 2 output (third point from the top) to the input of Audio Instrument hosting your single instance of the Philharmonik. You now have two splitters attached to the same Audio Instrument.
    7) go to the arrange and assign the output of a second Arrange track to "flute". This is done by clicking and holding the name on the Arrange track and selecting "flute" under Audio.
    8) From your MIDI controller, send out on MIDI Channel 2 and record notes to this "flute" track.
    These notes should playback the Philharmonic's MIDI channel 2.
    There may be other, and better, ways to accomplish this, but I think this will work.

  • Help: Unable to set root servlet in a shared hosting environment

    I'm using a shared hosting environment with GoDaddy and can't set the http://www.domain.com/ root servlet, i.e. the servlet that gets invoked when we go to the homepage.
    I have the following web.xml file configured that currently works on my testing server:
         <servlet>
              <display-name>MainPage</display-name>
              <servlet-name>MainPage</servlet-name>
              <servlet-class>com.somedomain.MainPage</servlet-class>
         </servlet>
         <servlet-mapping>
              <servlet-name>MainPage</servlet-name>
              <url-pattern>/mainpage</url-pattern>
         </servlet-mapping>
         <welcome-file-list>
              <welcome-file>mainpage</welcome-file>
         </welcome-file-list>The application is configured as the 'ROOT' application on my development server, but shared in the hosting environment. I wonder if some permissions are not given since it is shared hosting environment. The error message I get when visiting the page is:
    Forbidden
    You don't have permission to access / on this server.
    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
    Apache/1.3.33 Server at dev9.somedomain.com Port 80Unfortunately the server get's restarted once a day, so multiple suggestions would be much appreciated. I will upload them all at once.

    Change the value of the url-pattern value of your servlet mapping in the deployment descriptor. Instead of using "/mainpage" as the value use "/index.html" or "/index.jsp".
    Edited To Add - But this might not be right, because it will result in an endless loop. You would eventually want to display the home page and it would trigger the servlet which would forward to the home page, triggering the servlet and on and on...
    I don't think I know the answer here...

  • Setting up one IMAC in a windows environment

    I am a systems administrator in a small company that operates in a 100% windows environment. We have no one on staff with any support knowledge when it comes to apple. I have one individual ( a graphic designer) that has requested a Imac. The reason; because it is the industry standard in her world, and it would be easier for her to operate in Mac so as to be able to take over design projects others have started and vice versa. She also needs to work on huge files so it is time to upgrade. What are likely to be my challenges, I am thinking of even the simple things, for instance, I have noone on staff with any experience setting up a Mac machine on any network let alone a windows environment
    +

    Promothebear –
    First what ever you do don’t upgrade to 10.5.6 there seems to be all sorts of issues with it when it comes to working/playing well in a Windows environment.
    Though frustrating at times getting your Mac on a Windows network is not too difficult it just takes a little time and patience to pull it off.
    Now for some questions:
    - Since you indicate that you are the system administrator can I assume that you are running on a Windows Domain?
    - Are you planning on using/accessing files created on the Mac with a PC?
    - Are you planning on storing files created on the Mac on your Windows Servers?
    - What version of Windows Server are you using (assuming a Windows Domain)?
    - Do you plan on printing to printers attached to Windows systems?
    - Are you planning on sharing files directly from your Mac?
    Assuming that you are on a Domain I would recommend that you have the Mac join your Domain – but for now if you can answer the above questions that will help in determining a realistic solution for you.
    Respectfully –

  • Advanced setting for all users in a Citrix environment

    I would like to disable the Advanced option "Allow editing directly in cells" for Excel 2010.  It is used in a Xenapp (Citrix ) environment using upm or roaming profiles.  How can i avoid having each user make this setting wich is then
    saved to his profile?
    is there a registry change that will set it as the default when anyone launches excel?
    Thank You.

    Hi,
    Please try to use disabe the "Allow editing directly in cells" in GPO.
    Press win+Run> gpedit.msc>Adminstrative Templates>Microsoft Excel 2010>Excel options>Advanced>Edit directly in cells>disable
    Then we could update the GPO.
    More reference:
    Edit directly in cell
    Registry Key:  software\policies\microsoft\office\14.0\excel\options\binaryoptions fNoInCell_66_1 0 | 1
    This policy setting sets the ''Edit directly in cell'' option found under File tab | Options | Advanced | Editing Options.\n \n If you enable or do not configure this policy setting, Excel will allow editing directly in the cell  This is the default
    behavior.\n \n If you disable this policy setting, Excel will not allow editing to be done directly in the cell.

  • Setting reports_path

    Can someone please tell me the steps to set up reports_path in em reports.sh. Also, is there a way to configure in em rwserver.conf.

    Hi,
    From the reports.sh file you asked i conclude you are using Linux, so reports.sh is located at ORACLE_INSTANCE/bin.
    Just localize REPORTS_PATH variable and append the new path to it.
    Hope this helps

    Not that it would work, as the kid doesn't seem to understand what exactly it's doing wrong.
    Had it worked through some basic tutorials it would have understood so I'm not going to tell it, just tell it to work through some basic tutorials.

  • Set up dynamic, remote website on local environment for development

    I am not too experienced with dreamweaver (the extent of my knowledge is youtube tutorials and self taught).  I have inherited a website on a remote server that I need to do some major editing.  It is using MySQL, php, html, and css.  I have already downloaded the entire site for local development.  However, the php will not function without a server.  Would anyone kindly provide some resources on how to set up this site up with MAMP for local development (or any alternative ways to develop inherited websites like this)?  I know how to set up MAMP from scratch, but not with an already developed, remote website that needs to be edited/redeveloped.
    It seems like if I redirect the server to a local one, it will mess up a lot of code when I attempt to upload it back to the remote server.  There has to be a more convenient/integrated way to do this than recoding the database access every time I switch from local to remote.....

    You'll still need to pull everything onto the testing server, if it's going to be different from your remote server. Here's a good resource for using testing servers with DW...
    Setting up a local testing server in Dreamweaver CS5 | Adobe Developer Connection
    It might not match your exact version, but it should be followable for the most part.
