Setting Separate In and Out Devices

Hey!
Im having trouble getting Logic Express 8 to go out of my head phone out on my computer while the input is set to my firewire interface.
I didn't have this problem in GB because it has separate in/out preferences...
Id love to tips or tricks.
Thanks!!

You need to set up an 'aggregate device.'

  • Sample rate off the audio input and out devices do not match - what to do?

This is fundamental, I know, but nevertheless I can't find my way around it. I get this error message when trying to recor:
Sample rate off the audio input and out devices do not match
and am asked to do this:
Use the appropriate operating system or audio device control panel to adjust the sample rates of the input and output devices to use the same settingt.
I have defined the sample rate to 44.1/16 bit in accordance with my inbuild soundcardt.
I am trying to record from LineIn.
When running on a M-Audio sound card I don't face any problems.

You're sure you have set BOTH the input and output settings to 44.1 16 bit?
Which version of Windows are you running?  There are a number of posts on this forum about how to fully access both the Windows Mixer and the Mixer for your soundcard.  Especially, you need to ensure that all "Windows Sounds" are turned OFF.

  • Set desired in and out of audio video in menu...

Sorry - so basic but can't figure out - how do I set the in and out point for audio playing during the menu and the video that is being viewed in the menu? Thanks!

You mean using Motion eus? Look Motion Menu up in the manual for the details. It's not intutive. You select the button and then open the inspector and you will see a media tab where you can set the in point. You cannot select the outpoint since Motion Menus are 30 seconds by default. Adjusting the loop point for the entire menu is described, confusingly, in the manual.

  • Set Composition In and Out Points

    Hello
I'm sure this is simple but a new look to CS6 has thrown me!
Say I have created a composition named 'MasterComp' which comprises several layers of Footage. I now want to place frames 100 to 300 of MasterComp within a new composition named Comp01, how do I do this?
I used to simply double-click MasterComp in the Project panel and then in the preview window set the time to 100 using the timeline and click the 'In Point' button. I would repeat this to set the 'Out Point' and then drag the MasterComp from the Projects pallete into my Comp01 panel.
There appears to be no timeline in CS6 when previewing a composition along with the associated ability to set the in/out point.
Any guidance would be very helpful.
    Chris

    Hello Rick
Thanks for your thoughts. Perhaps I was not clear. If I remember correctly, in CS5.5 I could double-click a composition to preview it and there would be a timeline beneath it so that I could scrub up and down and set the in/out points. I have reset my Standard Workspace and there is no timeline beneath a Composition when previewed. There is, however, for a Footage item.
Composition Settings only lets me adjust the Start Frame and Duration. I don't want to make a global change to the composition, simply set an in and out point for the composition's use when placed within another composition.

  • Video stutters when setting range in and out points within browser

While playing back video and using the "I" and "O" keys to set range in and out points, the video stutters every time I press either key.
Footage is Apple ProRes 422 1080p23.98 and 720p59.94 (problem is more noticeable with 59.94 footage). Playback quality is set to "Better Performance"
    FCPX 10.1.3
    OSX 10.9.5
    Mac Pro (Late 2013)
    3 GHz 8-Core
    32GB RAM
    Dual AMD FirePro D700
Project stored on 7200rpm eSata drive via GbE

Yes that's exactly right. As I'm going through selecting ranges to mark with a keyword tag, the video pauses for a split second (and skips a few frames) every time I use the "I" or "O" keys. As I tend to tag multiple sections within each clip I like to mark my ranges and tag them on the fly while the clip is still playing.

  • Selecting separate input and output devices!

hi, i have logic pro 8 and cant find out how to select separate devises for input and output!
for my output (and input when recording drums) i use a alesis multimix 16 (16 track firewire desc) but for recording guitars and bass and poss vocals i would like to use my line 6 x3 live as my input devise but still using the alesis for monitoring.
is this possible? cant figure how to do it.
any help is great help! cheers, Dan

In Logic 9 you can easily select different input and output devices in the Preferences Devices area. In Logic 8 you must create an aggregate device -

  • Visa read object difference parity setting for PC and TPC2012 device

    Hello,
we found some difference between application running in PC and runing in TPC2012 device.
We tested modbus communication via RS485 (9600b/s, 8bits, parity even) between PLC(master) and TPC2012 (slave). We used Visa read object and set parity to Even via property node. From the PLC we sent request to device and in our application we only read the data from PLC and displayed it (8bytes) on sreen.
If we tested the application on PC everything worked fine. But if we compiled application and ran it in TPC2012 device  the data was different (for example if I sent request from PLC to slave 05 03 00 01 00 01 crc crc on the TCP I saw 00 03 00 01 00 01 crc crc. The  crc on TPC wasn't equal to crc on PLC.
We found that problem was in VISA read setiing for read data in TPC device. If we set parity to SPACE (instead of EVEN)  then we read data correctly.
Modbus - Parity set for VISA read object:
Master PLC (even) - PC (even) -> visa read - data are equal
Master PLC (even) - TPC (even) -> visa read - data aren't equal
Master PLC (even) - TPC (space)-> visa read - data are equal
PC: Win XP SP2, LabView 8.5 with LabView TP module 8.5.
TPC2012: WinCE 5.0, NI visa 4.2, NI TPC Service 1.0.
    Best regards,
    Pavel Rucka.

I just found out that the VI for the currentmeasurement with the keithley 6517a has the same error but still works fine. Now I also tried to adjust the serial data bit and parity settings via the VISA configure serial port function but still no improvements.

  • Office set up - monitor and input devices

I am getting an office at work, which means I'll want to trick out my desk. I want to get a big monitor for graphic design stuff and a full size wireless keyboard/mouse.
Is it as easy as I would expect? Can I use the built-in bluetooth for the mouse & keyboard and then plug in a monitor? How will the monitor work? Do I have to use the aux monitor alone - or- can I use the laptop monitor and aux monitor at the same time?

This is just a guess, but if the last thing your wind controller puts out is a volume message of zero (as I think it would do as you stop playing the last note) then you would need to send a volume message to the sound module to reset it to the desired volume.

  • Setting in and out markers for capturing.

i am learning final cut pro, and have also purchased a new camera. I was under the impression that a tape based camera goes through wear on the heads the more you use it... having said that i just finished chapter eight of capturing video in final cut pro, and am under the impression that i have to watch the video, set my in and out point/ set markers to select the footage to be used, and then it has to play the footage again to capture it?..... so your camera is always going to have to go through the wear of recording original footage, rewind footage...play footage to mark in and out points, and the a third time to capture is this correct? also are a lot of people using these expensive formatting devices that you plug into your camera so when you record your original footage it records on the tape and on this device so you can access the device and not put so much wear on the camcorders tape heads?

sounds like you are very efficient in your work.
You have to be if you want to get anything done in a timely manner, and if you want to be able to find footage quickly.
I thought that i should do that after the fact, but then i thought that in cases of collecting a lot of rough footage that there may be a several areas of footage you dont want to use that you are asking the camera to play when it doesnt need to.
Exactly why logging your footage is so important. Not only do you see what you have, but you can make sure you don't capture stuff you don't want or don't need, and that saves tons of space. Plus the mere fact you are logging, capturing and organizing your footage means that you are getting more familiar with what you have. This is of MAJOR importance to an editor.
I am going to be doing this for a living
Then learning good editing habits early on is a must.

  • Setting in-and-out points  -- is this possible?

I set in-and-out points in the preview window by dragging the blue triangles.
I would like to sample various parts of a clip, though there are only 2 triangles.
    1. Is there a way to take one segment of video and establish in-and-out points for maybe the first 30 seconds of video and than set another in point maybe 1 minute later with a out point 30 seconds after that. So ultimately the encoding will encode two non-sequential segments of video.
    Thanks.

You can't do that, but you can achieve what you want by simply dragging in the clip multiple times into Compressor and for each clip, set your in and out point.

  • How do I globally set in and out points on a large number of images?

As the post asks: How do I globally set in and out points on a large number of images before sending to the timeline? In AVID I can do this in the Script view. How do I do it in FCP?
    Thanks in advance

Thanks. I assumed I needed to set in and out points. I have not done an image sequence in FCP. If I have a 10 second image and a 2 second transition, but then change the duration of the transition to say 4 seconds then FCP will let me alter the transition duration?
With regards to movie clips, what happens with setting global in and out points? How would I do that?
    Thanks in advance

  • In and out set

Is it possible to set an in and out point on a clip before you drop it into a comp, or is this only possible after it has been placed into a comp?

  • How can I use a ranged comment marker to quickly define in and out range?

    Hi,
I'm using several parts of a single clip, and they have overlapping in and out points. As I'll need to go back and grab them multiple times, I've defined these ranges by using a comment marker, then giving them a range by setting the in and out point in the marker panel.
What I want to do is using this defined comment marker range, right click/double click/clap twice or something that will allow a shortcut to set this marker range as an in and out range so that I can put it into my sequence's timeline.
I'm happy if I can skip the in and out all together and drag the marker to the timeline - but I tried this from the Marker panel, and it didn't work.
If this functionality doesn't exist, I'm going to have to just set a marker for every in and out point, and that's just busywork and confusing as it's not clear what's the in and the out when your'e in the middle of all the markers.
Thanks for any and all help

Premiere does not have a feature that automatically converts a marker's In/Out to function as clip In/Out points. I recommend saving a subclip for each segment of interest. The subclip becomes a new instance of the clip in the project panel, which you can give a descriptive name.
If you give this a try--and if you're using Premiere Pro CC--take a little time to learn about the "Restrict Trims to Subclip Boundaries" option, which controls whether a subclip is "hard" or "soft." http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-premiere-pro-cc/create-soft-subclips-with-flexible-edit-po ints/

  • In and Out points not showing in source monitor

I've noticed this in the past couple of days: setting in and out points in the source monitor, the indicators don't show in the time ruler.  In other words, even though I set the in and out points, it looks like nothing has been selected.
If I put the clip into the timeline, the in and out points I chose are respected, but they just don't seem to register in the source monitor, so I can't have confidence in what I have selected.
If I open another clip in the source monitor, then go back to the one I was working on, magically the in and out points are there again.  Strange...
At the same time, if I apply audio gain to a clip in the source monitor, it sometimes doesn't "take".  It shows that gain has been added, but there is no change in the sound volume when I play it back in the source monitor.  Again, if I put the clip in the timeline, the volume is as it should be and the waveform reflects this.
So, is there some underlying bug affecting how clips are dealt with in the source monitor?
I'm on the latest version of Premiere CC 7.2.1 on Windows 8

Thanks for these suggestions.  I'll try and answer each one:
Is the Source Monitor zoomed out to show the whole clip? If not, please zoom out to see if the In/Out points are getting painted in the wrong place initially.
    Yes, it is zoomed out.
Do the clips have non-zero start timecode? If so, please try with a clip with zero-based timecode. (If you don't have one handy, you can create one fairly easily by exporting a sequence with start TC of 0;00)
The problem is intermittent and in this project all the clips are DSLR .mov files.  The problem occurs with some of these and not others.
Have you done anything like setting a custom start timecode or interpreting footage to change the frame rate?
I haven't set a custom timecode.  It's true that there is a mix of 24p and 25p clips in the project, but surely this only presents issues in the timeline rather than the source monitor?  In any case, I haven't gone to interpret footage on these clips.
Is this happening with all types of project items, including simple clips on disc, or only with certain items like merged clips, multicam sequences, subclips...?
In this project, the only type of clip I'm using is simple clips.  There are nested sequences; I'm not sure, but possibly the problem has also presented itself when these are brought into the source monitor - but not exclusively with those.
I hope this helps.  This is the first project I have worked on since the latest upgrade and I didn't come across this problem before.  As I say, it is intermittent, and it's hardly crippling - just annoying when it happens!
    Thanks

  • I have just purchased Quicktime Pro but Trim does not display IN and OUT options. It trims to the frame on display.

I have just installed Qicltime Pro but when I edit a video file and try to set the In and Out points, it does not show any way to set them. It trims the video down to the one point on display. Have I installed the software correctly?

QuickTime Player 7 Pro is in the Utilities folder.
To set in and out points set the position you want in the timeline and tap the i key. Move to the end of your selection and tap the o key. To step frame by frame move the playhead by tapping the left/right arrow keys.
